OK?
We spent 3 extremely hot days in Paris. We chose Acacias because of its location and the reviews in Tripadvisor. It was OK, but not more. I almost fell down when opening the liftdoor. One can use Internet, but it was annoying to pay in advance when you don´t know how much time you need. The room was new made, clean and had a fan. But they forgot the carpet. We would have appreciated more warmth from the reception. We won´t stay there next time.
Excellent Experience - We Loved It!!!
My fiancee and I recently got engaged, and we were looking forward to a great trip to Paris. Upon arriving at Acacias St. Germain, the hotel staff was very accomodating and friendly (not to mention spoke English, French, and Portuguese). The room was clean, bright, and exactly what you see on TripAdvisor. Our room overlooked Rue de Rennes, and we had a great view and it was not loud at all. The best part is the location (literally on top of great shopping, right near Luxemborg garden, Metro stops all around, etc). My fiancee and I... more
Just OK
When we first arrived, they put us in one of the worst rooms in the back--the bed was tiny and sagging, the furniture torn. It was really grim. I think it was because we booked through a Web site and got a good rate. When we walked downstairs, we passed several rooms that were nicer-looking than ours and so we went and requested one. They made us pay an extra $30 a night for a liveable room--so much for the low rate on the travel Web site. Some of the staff is nice, but one woman was rather nasty. The shower was not only teeny-tiny, but if... more
Not What you think
We have just returned from a trip to Paris. We had booked into the Acacias Saint Germain for three nights as it was listed on a site as 3*. What a shock! the carpets on the spiral stairway were absolutely filthy and the same in the room, we were on the second floor. The wallpaper on the stairway and in the bedroom were heavily scuffed, and the furniture was also grim. The ensuite had been refurbished but had the tiniest shower I have ever been in ( I'm 5' 2' and a size 12) and was cramped. It was late when we arrived and we had to stay the... more
OK - a bit cramped
We stayed here for 4 nights in August on the very top floor. This was problematic as the tiny elevator doesn't go that high so we had to haul our luggage the rest of the way. Also the shower was so tiny. My husband is skinny and 6'4" and had quite a lot of difficulty fitting inside (low clearance and very narrow box). There is no airconditioning as is pretty normal. The main annoyance was the construction outside our window which commenced quite early with a lot of racket. (Hopefully this isn't an ongoing problem). Generally, the room... more
Clean, great location, friendly!
My son and I booked two single rooms here. We were on floors 4 and 5 facing the street. Noisy with open windows, but not at all with windows closed. The rooms were small but comfortable, bathroom large and clean. (Getting into the tub/shower not easy, though -- top edge was a couple of inches above my knees, and I'm 5'5"). The elevator stops between floors, opens onto a spiral staircase from which you go either up or down to your room. No matter -- the staff was extremely helpful (especially Sophie), the location was wonderful, safe... more
Excellent price, adorable hotel.
Perfect for travelling students, the room was small but cute. Bathroom was equal in size to bedroom and both had a charming view of neighboring apartments and real Parisian life. Within a block of the Metro, location was great. Several lovely restaurants, bistros and coffee houses within a 5 minute walk. Front desk was friendly despite our bumbling French and incessant questions. We were out early in the morning and late at night with no worries about security. I will most definitely stay here again.
Good value for the money
This hotel was a great bargain and easy to access from the metro (*tip- the stop is Saint Placid). The location is great and nearby many nice restaurants and shopping stores. The amenities are fairly descent and if you can get a room off the busy street it was very quiet. The room we stayed in was small yet with time became more manageable and appeared larger. Fortunately there is plenty of storage space to put things away. The bed was not very comfortable and they didn't accommodate our request for additional pillows. The bathroom area... more
Acacias St. Germain - NOT a triple
My family (husb, self and 14 yr old daugh) were looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a convenient, yet "Parisian" feeling area of Paris for 4 at the end of a 12 day trip. We ended up at the Acacias. Beware - it is not for more than 2 people. I know Euro hotel rms are small, but they should never have taken a booking from our travel agent for a triple. My daughter had a really uncomfortable fold-away bed, making the room wall-to-wall bed. We had to store luggage in the bathrm. I also found it annoying that we had to pay a 3... more
Decent place to stay...
I had initially booked from the 14th until the 18th but ended up only staying at Acacias St. Germain from Feb 15-18 (3 nites). I arrived on February 14th to check in only to be told that one of the rooms (my room) had a problem and that alternative arrangements would have to made. The owner called another 3 star hotel just up the street - about a 5-10 minute walk (Hotel Raspail located at 203 Boulevard Raspail - see review) and covered the costs of staying there for the first nite (Hotel Raspail actually is more expensive overall). Anyhow,... more
