excellent hotel
We stayed for three nights and had a very good experience. The Seaport Inn is clean, well maintained, well located and has a good staff. It is reasonably priced (for New York) and is an excellent value. It's not fancy but we had a wonderful view of the Brooklyn Bridge. We will go back. MAKE RESERVATIONS DIRECTLY WITH THIS HOTEL. DO NOT USE THE THE BEST WESTERN CENTRAL RESERVATION SYSTEM. IT IS AWFUL.
Great value
Stayed over a weekend. Hotel is very convenient to Ground Zero, Battery Park, and Wall Street, all of which are within walking distance. Short cab ride into Little Italy or Chinatown. Rooms are small but nicely appointed and very quiet. Continental breakfast was good, newspaper and more substantial food at the deli next door. The Fulton fish market adds color and odor in the early morning but is pretty much closed by 9:00 or 10:00. You'll have to walk a block or two to get a cab. Be sure to take a card with the hotel... more
The most romantic and fabulous weekend of my life
My husband chose this hotel to propose to me in. He got a room with a beautiful balcony and we sat out there under the Brooklyn Bridge looking out on the East River and he popped the question. The hotel staff knew in advance that he was going to propose and made everything so wonderful. They were so accommodating and helpful to my husband leading up to the big night. I will always have fond memories of the staff and my time there.
Nice budget hotel
Convenient location to NYU dorm. The evening desk clerk (Leon) was delightful. (better than most concierges at higher priced hotels.) The rest of the staff was okay. I had a 6th floor room with a huge balcony with a gorgeous view of the Brooklyn bridge. Room was adequate (big by NYC standards), bedspreads and curtains a little dated, thin towels, fiberglass jacuzzi. This not a luxury hotel but a good deal for the area. It was also very quiet. A bit of a hike to the nearest subway station, seaport is right next store with the typical... more
Great hotel!!!
We have just returned from our trip to NYC - we stayed at this hotel based on reviews posted here. We travelled with our children (9 and 12) and we were VERY impressed with this hotel. The staff were very helpful, the rooms were great, the beds were comfortable and everything was CLEAN. The complimentary breakfast was suitable and the coffee was actually good! This hotel is located at the seaport where there is a very busy fish market from midnight to 6:00 a.m everyday.....we stayed for 3 nights and did not hear a thing! The only... more
Hotel Staff the best
Stayed there with two elderly parents and three teenagers, we all loved it. The attentive staff were helpful and thoughtful. Touches like that take an average hotel up a couple of notches. The rooms were clean and comfortable after a long day of sightseeing.
Very satisfied!
We stayed at the Seaport Inn in June 2005, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. After reading mixed online reviews, I didn't know what to expect. We found the exterior of the hotel to be quaint and well-tended. The lobby is small, but clean and comfortable. We had absolutely no problem with the staff, who graciously accomodated our early arrival, late checkout, and requests for extra towels and pillows. Housekeeping services were great, as well. The hotel even has a small fitness room. Our room with two queen beds... more
Awful! Just plain awful!
I'm reading these other reviews and hate to be a thorn in an otherwise false rosy picture, but this hotel is far from nice! Yes, the rooms are OK, simple and basic - just under an average Best Western to be honest. The staff is kurt and obnoxious and seems to care less about guests. Andrew at this hotel was a royal pain and didn't seem to have the time to address any issues that we had. Stay away from this place. Best Western Seaport is the Best Western SeaDump!!
Simple and basic but a good choice
An interesting hotel for New York City, this property is down the street from the South Street Seaport, a tourist destination. It's also close to the financial district, and not too far from Chinatown and Little Italy. It's a bit removed from the main streets and the neighborhood is a bit industrial, so at night it appears creepy, but it's not at all. There's not too much to eat in the immediate vicinity, but a short walk can get you decent food. The check in was easy, and the rooms are basic but perfectly fine. Some have very nice... more
a great place to stay
This is my favorite place to stay when i visit the city because it is everything you would want or expect from a major hotel chain, and the locaion is unbeatable. a great jumping off place to hoof it through chinatown and little italy. my favorite touch is the artwork n the rooms. instead of cheesy mass produced hotel art, they have prints of historic etchings of the neighborhood that once bustled with seafaring activity. lots of constructuin going on right now, but not a prblem. the night clerk was especially kind and placed us in a... more
