" Great holiday. Hotel was superb.... "

Great holiday. Hotel was superb. Spotlessly clean, friendly professional staff, excellent food. This was our first experience of all inclusive hotel holidays, and I would definitely recommend it without reservation.

Hotel and resort good for couples, families, etc. Maybe a bit quiet if you're looking for Faliraki-style nightlife etc. Beach was only a couple of minutes' walk across the road. Hotel's own beach is good - plenty of sunbeds and a beach bar (all inc.). You can also find a few deserted spots just a bit further round the coast if you're prepared to walk a bit.

Resort is a quiet village away from the noisier end of the island. Rhodes is a fantastic island. Rough, arid, hot, with plenty of space away from the busier spots. Hire a car or scooter and explore the south of the island. We loved it.

" What a super holiday. 9 out of 10... "

What a super holiday. 9 out of 10 (come on, no one gets 10 out of 10!!) Like many people like you I’d read reviews about the hotel and was a little dubious about whether or not I would be happy.

We arrived at the airport in the early hours. The coach took us to our hotel (last to be dropped off) and we arrived to be met by a gentleman in reception. The hotel was magical looking in the early hours. We checked in and were directed to our room which was on the second floor near the main swimming pool. The pool was brightly lit and looked beautiful.

Once in our room we turned on the air-conditioning which to be honest was a little noisy but once you got the knack of how to work it the noise lessened. There were four of us, me, my husband, and our two boys (aged 10 and 12).

The boys had put you up beds which were OK. The main bed was made up of two large singles and was quite comfortable. The bedroom was well decorated but the bathroom let it down a bit. The look was shabby chic when originally decorated but looking a bit more shabby than chic nowadays!

I would recommend popping into one of the pound shops here in the UK and buying a bath mat. Bath mats are not provided and if you have young children it would be worth taking one with you.

We slept like logs, excited about seeing the rest of the hotel in the morning.

We got up early and went for breakfast at about 9am. On route to the restaurant we noted that the sunbeds were all taken with towels draped over.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by a member of staff and asked whether we wanted to eat inside or outside on the terrace. We were taken to our table. Breakfast was lovely. Huge selection. Of course there was the Continental breakfast but also there was bacon, eggs, sausages (not quite the sort we have at home), fresh fruit (watermelon to die for!), cereals, bread etc. Lots to choose from and always replenished.

Never did they run out of anything. Tea, coffee, and soft drinks. No real fruit juices were available, more like squash. Lunch and dinner were also fabulous. Vast selection again. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every meal. At dinner shorts are not permitted to be worn by men so they must wear at least three quarter length trousers and no trainers.

On our last day we booked to have lunch in the Pizzeria. That was OK and to be honest I would have preferred to have eaten in the main restaurant but the children said it was the best pizza that they had eaten so it was worth it for them.

Unlike other all inclusive hotels I’ve been to in Bulgaria and Tenerife it was such a pleasant surprise to be waited on at your table when it came to drinks. Soft drinks, wine and larger were brought to your table. Your plates were quickly cleared away on a regular basis. Excellent service.

There are three swimming pools. The main one near the restaurant was the busiest. Activities included water polo, water aerobics, and other activities around the pool like darts etc. Next to the reception area is another pool. This one is indoor and very warm. The third pool was at the top of the hotel. This was quieter and more used by families with young children.

Then there is the beach. Again across the road but you could use the bridge that links the Mitsis Village to the Mitsis Maris (sister hotel across the road) and go to the beach that way. Lots of sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach as well as the beach bar which provides more snacks and drinks as part of your all inclusive.

We hired a car for two days from Marathon car rentals, literally across the road from the hotel. Easy to book and no fuss. We met a lovely young lady who quickly organised the paperwork. We hired a Hyundai Altos for 85 Euros for the two days. Cheaper than the company that have a desk in the hotel. Unlimited mileage and full collision damage waiver. No deposit required.

We showed our driving licenses and told them our hotel details. The main reason we chose Marathon is was their insurance covered everything, including tyre damage or damage underneath the car which was not covered by anyone else we had spoken to. If we broke down all we needed to do was call Marathon. They have several rental places in Rhodes.

We collected the car at 9 am and took it back two days later at 10 pm. The car was small but it did the necessary. We drove around the bottom part of the island and visited Lindos (a must to visit) on the first day and drove to Rhodes Town (must see) on the second day. Driving around was easy and parking was plentiful. Petrol is cheap and we put 20 Euros of petrol in the car which was more than enough for the driving we did. Took the car back with more petrol than we needed to. Envisaged parking problems in Rhodes Town but none at all. Parked outside the Police Station and Post Office in the car park there for 2.6 Euros at 10.40 am until 5.10 pm. Bargain. Free Parking between the hours of 2.30 pm and 5.00 pm.

If you don’t want to hire a car there are plenty of trips on offer. Immediately opposite the hotel is the bus stop which can take you to Rhodes Town (approx 60 km away) for 5 Euros each single journey. Apparently the bus runs 4 times a day with the first departure at 8.05 am.

Fantastic beaches just off the main roads. Just pull over and sit and enjoy the view on the beach. Most beaches were empty so make sure you take some cold drinks and snacks with you in case you want to stop a while.

Sunbeds started being “towelled” by about 11.30 pm. Needless to say one nationality stood out the most as being the culprits who put out their towels and didn’t turn up to use the sunbeds. Must be something in their genes! So if you can’t beat them then join them is what I say.

We got into the habit of putting our towels out before we went to sleep, say about 12.30 am. There are signs up that all towels will be removed that are put out before 8 am but that didn’t happen. The hotel do provide towels to use on the sunbeds but you need to place at 10 Euro deposit for each towel. Could be quite costly if your towels are taken. So I would suggest taking your own old towels instead of leaving a deposit on theirs. New towels can be purchased from the supermarket across the road from the hotel for 5 Euros.

Snacks were provided in the day and these included rolls, fruit, ice cream, pastries, chips etc. But to be honest it was so warm that once you’d had breakfast etc you didn’t really need to eat again until the next main meal. Free drinks available all day. Again, no fruit juices so if you fancy a vodka and orange you’re out of luck. Cocktails are limited due to lack of fruit juices.

The staff that I came across were pleasant, polite, and helpful. The lady who changed our sheets and towels everyday was also lovely (Katerina). The staff work hard and are there all hours but always have a smile on their face. There was just one person, a young lady, who worked on the reception desk who did let the side down in so much as she was no way as happy or welcoming as the other staff. I suppose there has to be one.

Entertainment for the children was on hand. Internet access (1 Euro for about 20 mins), table tennis and table football, snooker/pool etc. Deposit needed for table tennis and snooker (5 Euros) so you may like to take your own table tennis bats and balls. My boys didn’t join in the kids club as they were enjoying the pool too much but the other kids seemed to have a good time and took pride in wearing their t-shirts with their names on. Evening entertainment was not really that great. It was OK if you like that sort of thing. Perhaps it was just me.

Checking out time is midday and as our flight was a night flight we were due to be picked up from our hotel at 10.45 pm. We were able to pay 40 Euros to keep our room until 10 pm. It is possible to pay less and vacate your room earlier. Check with the hotel directly as one couple we met had booked their late checkout with the travel agent until 7 pm but could not keep their room until 10 pm like us.

I would recommend having a look at the Mitsis website for more information on the hotel. I would certainly be happy to go back there and would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Rhodes is a beautiful place to holiday. Lots to do and fantastic beaches. Wonderful people.

" We have just come back, when we... "

We have just come back, when we arrived in the early hours we checked in but then got sent over too sister hotel for the night, they did not really explain why just ushed us to our room.
The next morning we found our own way back to other hotel were the reception staff were a bit vacant as they were all holiday if you needed anything.

The hotel itself is lovely the food has such a variety and was nice the staff very pleasant, the bar staff in the courtyard were very good and the entertainment staff also the complex is spot on rooms a bit of a let down could have done with a bit of TLC but you only sleep in them. Ours was at side of pool brilliant.

Could recommend to anyone with kids as al inclusive takes out all the hassle, a1.

" We had a terrific holiday and have... "

We had a terrific holiday and have just returned. Family of 5 with an extra friend along. Two rooms and we were all inclusive. Coach ride was about an hour from airport but was quite pleasant.

Hotel staff were very friendly from the outset when we arrived about 2330 or so. Rooms were not together and when we asked to change were accommodated immediately with no complaints despite the reception being very busy.

Rooms were cleaned every day and towels changed. The restaurant is a buffet style with a good choice of varying styles of food. Children ( aged 10 - 16 ) were all very happy to eat whatever was there, and were never hungry.

Best bit about the holiday without a doubt was the entertainment. The animation staff were fantastic despite working what seemed like horrendous hours. Always full of energy and keen to get everyone involved in water sports, darts, aerobics, volleyball, French bowls etc. This really was good fun and got everyone to interact. In the evening the animation staff then put on a show in the Amphitheatre which just showed how talented they all were.
The shows were very well put together, and very entertaining. It climaxed with the final night show which was quite stunning.

Beach was a short walk over a bridge and down a path. Beach bar serving all drinks and snacks. Again there were activities on the beach with free canoeing. The water sports adjacent were good fun i.e. banana boat, doughnuts etc.

All in all a very good family holiday, which I would recommend to anyone with children of all ages.

Don’t be put off by negative reviews, try it yourself. Some people are just a bit too fussy on holiday and don’t respect the fact that other countries have different standards.

" This hotel is not as bad as people... "

This hotel is not as bad as people make out. Food was ok with plenty of variety.

The italian restaurant is worth a visit, just book at reception as often as you like. Snacks are varied but are ok, hotdogs, sausage rolls, chips, salads, baguettes, ice cream. Drinks are pepsi, sprite, beer, wine cocktails the usual. Pool games if you want to join in.

The down side was the air conditioning, rubbish!!!!! the room was never any cooler than 85 degrees.

Room was done every day with fresh towels and bed changed often.

The resort is quiet but knew that before we went, nice and relaxing.

" Hotel better than expected having... "

Hotel better than expected having read some reviews. Family of 5 ,children 15,14,10.

Very hot when arrived air con probably needs updating especially in main hotel (was 48c.) Coach transfer was long but family of 5 would have needed two taxis.

Hotel is like a village lots of Bouganvilla covered bungalows very pretty. Pools excellent very clean. You will have to get up early to claim sunbeds though! There were really not enough.

Staff were excellent especially in the restaurant and pizzeria. Food was excellent lots of choice, may be a bit samey by the end of 2 weeks, book early for the Italian pizzeria, food is wonderful cooked fresh from an open kitchen where you can watch it all being prepared while you enjoy your pre dinner drinks.

Rooms are pretty basic but do have fridges which is great and the views are wonderful. Lots going on for the children, particularly sports wise.

Evening entertainment ok for little ones ,not very varied and nothing really for adults. Few shops, Rodos Maris opposite, can have use of their facilities but no food or drink.

Need beach shoes-shingly but lovely, great watersports facilities, free sunbeds/umbrellas and a beach bar. Local buses stop outside to Lindos, Faliraki waterpark and Rhodes Town.

Really enjoyed our week. Great value for money with teenagers.

" An excellent holiday experience!

An excellent holiday experience!

Reception staff helpful and friendly, rooms spacious and clean (all linen changed daily by friendly staff) with good views, 3 outdoor pools and one indoor pool, so always plenty of swimming opportunities, food plentiful, varied menus and courteous staff.

Free sunbeds in hotel grounds and on beach, beach bar also available. Free use of canoes on beach, other water activities at reasonable prices. Will visit again next year!

" After reading some of the more... "

After reading some of the more negative reviews we were really quite worried - unnecessarily so!

This hotel is fantastic! From the variety of food, to the friendly manner of all the staff to the entertainment.

We have two children (8 & 6) and all of us had a really relaxing holiday - we didn't want to come home.

There really was nothing to complain about and we would recommend this holiday/hotel to anybody with a family.

There are so many trips available (Symi is wonderful!!) that because you are all-inclusive you can treat yourself and get out and see this wonderful island.

We would definitely stay here again.

" We have stayed in Kiotari twice now... "

We have stayed in Kiotari twice now and can’t wait to go back again.

Our room was enormous and had a beautiful sea view. We found the service excellent as was the food and drink. Everyone we spoke to was happy and felt they got value for money.
The entertainment may not be everyone’s cup of tea but its great for families with kids! The animation reps were very friendly and were able to converse with all nationalities - they worked very hard.

" This property is rated as a 5 star... "

This property is rated as a 5 star hotel, it’s definitely not.

Staff- Very helpful couldn't do enough. Entertainment - Boring.

Food- No Greek Food- basic British food- not traditional at all- no selection for vegetarian.

Cold - heated pool. No Sauna, mini bar, volley ball, beach bar.

Rooms were awful - Room 1 - dirty toilet, rusty bath. Room 2, leaking toilet with smelly drain smell.

No working cash links. No shops around apart from 1 supermarket and a 5 minute walk to another 3 shops.

Boring nothing to do.

In reception there are big square sharp cornered tables, so very dangerous if you have young children, and in fact a girl hit the side of her face while we were there.

Do yourself a favour and stay away- we went to de-stress and came back more stressed.

" Just arrived back home from a... "

Just arrived back home from a week’s stay at Rodos village.

Food was lovely, room was very clean. Towels changed every day everyone very pleasant.

Very good value for money. My daughter who is 3, I found would of liked a play area with toys ect there was a mini club but I do not like to leave my daughter with other people even though they were all very friendly.

The only thing me and my family did not like was the loudness of the microphones when games were played at the pool.

A very good holiday will go back next year for 2 weeks!

" I had an amazing time at this hotel,... "

I had an amazing time at this hotel, and would definitely go back!

Okay, at the beginning there was a bit of a mess up as we were supposed to be staying Rodos Maris but this was 'full' so we were transferred to Rodos Village.

Our rooms were not ready when we arrived so we had to wait a while but other than that it was fantastic!

The animations team were amazing: Kurt, Lorenzo, Babs, Miriam, Katka, Acram, Danny and Flori! They were so much fun, and made my holiday!! Always came to talk to me, take me out and generally have a laugh!

Food was amazing, got to say I didn’t eat much in England but couldn’t help myself when I saw what buffet was on offer!

Couldn’t get enough of the chocolate crepes.

I liked the atmosphere of the hotel, and the beach just below.

It’s a shame it was a way out of town but you had enough to do at the hotel. I only went into town once during my weeks stay!

" Read all reviews available before I... "

Read all reviews available before I went and actually wondered what lay ahead. But was very pleasantly surprised!

Booked Taxi transfers to and from the airport for an extra £10 p/p it was a godsend. No more waiting for everyone to board the right coach.

A really smooth and easy ride, we were able to book in, eat dinner and get changed... before we walked out of the hotel for a drink and the coach was just turning up!

Hotel room was facing the pool. Very spacious and clean. But not an English 5* but for the price were paying £289 it was perfect.

Cleaners changed towels, made the bed and generally tidied the room each day. And was happy to give you any extras you required.

Reception was friendly and helpful... but not the most attentive! They were very pleasant and had no problems at all. They even let us use the phone free of charge when we had car hire questions for the company.

Food was good... Not "Ivy" Standard but you really couldn’t complain much at all!!!
About 5 choices of main, most cooked fresh in front of you, all fresh fruits, and a very large selection of Deserts, including Crepes... again made fresh to order.

I probably had one night where I didn’t like it too much. But still was full enough.
They also offer two other restaurants free of charge... Chinese and Italian. Chinese definitely book in. As good as at home if that’s a comparison! Italian... Take it or leave it... But again it’s nice to eat a la carte... for free!

All drinks have to be paid for and are a little expensive, but the "all you can eat" makes up for it.

Pepsi - 3 euro
Litre water - 3 euro
Beer - 3 euro
Wine - Approx 3 euro

Great location... Able to walk everywhere. But do think about hiring a car, the island is great to discover, and great places to drive, and do it in your own time instead of a coach trip schedule. Go to Lindos... Boat trip to Symi Island... Faliraki maybe miss unless your 18-30 and love English party atmosphere!!!

Old town is best for day times... Shops places for lunch... generally great atmosphere.
New town is more for the night life. Bar Street is good, and not as rough as Faliraki, but a good selection of other bars, and some great Greek bars. If you pass "KoyKos" go in and have a good time.

The cheapest place to drink, the best measures, and they treat you so well!!! Generally a Greek hang out for trendy 20 something’s, but a great place to try the traditional night life. Also Boudoir bar is great!

Sum up - Good hotel (No complaints), would be very happy to recommend. Great Location, but would consider a car hire as well. The area has lots to do, but can be quite repetitive over 7 days unless you just love to lie round the pool or on the beach, which it is great for.

Mitsis Grand Hotel - 8/10
I would go back there, if I was to go to Rhodes again without question.

Guide price I would stick to £300 (Low season) - £450 (summer season) half board for great value.

" Well, I've been here before in 2005... "

Well, I've been here before in 2005 and thought it was great so in 2006, I went back with my family & friend.

This hotel is great, the staff are so friendly apart from the odd few but overall they are lovely.

The food in the pizzeria especially was fantastic! Most of the food in the main restaurant is nice but I do think if you’re a fussy eater, theres not a lot of choice.

But still, the food is nice and the rooms are clean and get cleaned on a regular basis (everyday).

Although, the hotel is built on a hill and there are a lot of stairs to get to places but don’t let this put you off because it’s beautiful.

Don't be put off by all the negative comments.

I do agree, this isn’t a 5 star hotel, but it’s decent & when you arrive it looks gorgeous. (Especially at night when all the lights are on outside).

It’s definitely worth going to and I’m going again this year in May.

" To start with I can’t believe some... "

To start with I can’t believe some people have rated this hotel as 1 out of 10. This hotel is definitely a five star.

The food was fabulous for all inclusive as normally the food is not great.

The beach is only a 5 minute walking away...and this beach is too die for. It’s absolutely amazing. I spent most of my time in the clear blue sea surrounded by all the beautiful fish!

Our room was lovely and cleaned to perfection every day. The staff were very friendly...and the little shop downstairs was fabulous for me, selling all sorts of small gifts. I thought that this holiday was really good.

Only problem being that it was quite isolated so this holiday would be good for those wanting a very peaceful and relaxing break.

Another small problem was that sometimes there were ants in our room, however this is because we did leave our balcony doors open and it is a very hot country so you expect a few insects!!

All in all a fabulous hotel. Would go again tomorrow.
