Oct 2006, Mr A Ford

Well where to start. Upon arrival at the hotel at 6.30am we asked if we could get a drink from somewhere we were told “from the taps in your room” I let this one go as I was tired.
Rooms – they are ok however very basic, the TV has only one English Channel and that is BBC news 24, this isn’t good as if the weather is bad there’s not much (or anything) to do and the news can be depressing enough. Top tip’s for the rooms is have a shower early to guarantee hot water and if there is a cleaners station outside of your room ask for them to be quiet as they tend to be very loud and wake you early as the rooms have very thin walls.
Food – the food at this hotel is appalling, it tastes the same (whatever the time of day) and is fly infested, and the dining room doesn’t have one insectocutor. The staff are slow and not at all friendly. You get chips every night accompanied by the likes of sprouts or carrots, squid, and prawn crackers; the pasta is cold and stodgy. We are not fussy eater’s however this hotel proved to be the worst all inclusive we have ever, ever been to and we wouldn’t recommend it to our worst enemies.
Entertainment – I found it to be just OK it really was pathetic but the kind of pathetic where you have to laugh just to be polite.
Bars – the top swimming pool bar is great as it is self service, the rock café bar is ok too however the staff are slow as there is only one on at any time and they have to glass collect, wash them and serve as well. The main bar is the best of all and if you tip them they come to you straight away.
The Place Kiotari – it consists of about five big hotels, a couple of supermarkets and two restaurants so if you prefer a busy and lively holiday don’t go to Kiotari, it is also quite expensive to get a taxi to other tourist areas like Lindos of Faliraki you can get there on the bus cheap enough but they tend to get quite full and take a considerable different amount of time than a taxi.
All in all we did actually have a nice holiday because it’s the people your with that make the holiday I just would of expected better all round standards from the Mitsis Rodos Village considering it states on its website that it’s a “deluxe 5 star hotel” when it clearly is only a 3plus at the most.

We booked the holiday at the last...
4 / 10
Sep 2006, Miss P Lynch

We booked the holiday at the last minute and had reservations about All Inclusive in Greece. Unfortunately, all our reservations were justified. Whilst initially we were pleased with the hotel, we soon found we had no hot water in our room and after complaining for 3 days on the trot, we were moved to a room with a terrible view which was over the kitchens. This meant it was very noisy and if the doors were left open, the smell of cooking permeated the room. The rooms were kept very clean though and the maids were very friendly.
The food was not as good as we expected either - it seemed to be geared very much towards the German clientele, as there seemed to be meat in absolutely everything - not a good choice at all for vegetarians, unless you are happy to have basic salad and pasta every night. For a 5 star hotel, the restaurant felt more like a staff canteen at times due to the amount of people milling around and queuing for food.
We stayed for 2 weeks, which did not help with the food - we agreed that a week or even 10 days would be fine.
Would recommend the hotel if all you wanted was a quiet break, doing nothing (there wasn't a lot to do unless you wanted to partake in volley ball and aqua gym every day - we certainly didn't) and you were only going for a week.
We did hear some horror stories from other guests, but based the review on our own opinions.

Sep 2006, Miss H M

You know how people say that maybe one or two people have had a bad experience at this hotel and I suppose sometimes they are obviously right but you know what I don't believe that that is true for this hotel. I think this because when we were staying at this hotel we actually saw many people complain. Sometimes about the filthy pools or the games room swallowing their money but at other times about the extremely rude reception.
I read somewhere before going on my holiday that the Greeks were extremely nice and pleasant and friendly but that wasn't true for this hotel with the exception of the animation team and a few bartenders oh and of course the maids.
Let me give you my reasons as to why I wouldn't go back to this hotel. Plates were dirty and flies were hovering everywhere in the main restaurant, broken glass in main restaurant, dirty bathroom, very loud air-conditioning, cold Jacuzzi, cold pools, an effort to get to the higher pools cause of steep slopes, to get to the beach be prepared to walk down many, many steps in the heat. Not much choice for vegetarians or children food wise, same bland food every day, broken lights in pool, broken lights on the way to the beach, not enough sun beds! Bad TV quality, I could go on but it would just take to long.
Three members of my family fell ill and one injured his toe as he stepped on something sharp at the bottom of the pool.

My partner and I have just returned...
3 / 10
Sep 2006, Miss A Read

My partner and I have just returned from a week at the Rodos Village and we won't be going back.
Initially when we arrived at 6am all seemed well and the hotel looked lovely from the front and the same in the reception area. We checked in and trudged off to our room, very tired from our long trip (including over an hour and a half from the airport). When we entered our room my partner opened the curtains and shutters as he wanted to look at the sunrise we were expecting to see over the sea as we'd requested a sea view - we were appalled to see a block of other rooms directly in front of our window with a roof separating the two, not even a bit of green in sight let alone the sea!
When we complained about this in the morning to the Reception Manager we were told that unless we'd paid extra we would get a 'mountain view' room (this being the view of a wall!) After arguing with this woman (who really didn't give two hoots about us) we agreed to pay the extra 90 euros for the sea view room (even though the holiday had already cost us over £1,000!)
When we inspected our new room we found that the bathroom was pretty dirty (the taps looked like they'd never been cleaned), the mini bar was empty (for 5 star all inclusive this is pretty poor), there was no information about the hotel, leaflets, local tours etc. and worst of all, during the night our air conditioning leaked so much we had to switch it off and put up with the heat!
When we complained about our air conditioning, they did send someone to fix it but that night it was broken again, when we rang reception we were told they couldn't move us as they were not enough rooms and all the technicians had gone home and perhaps we could put a towel under it! We ended up sticking chewing gum in the holes in a desperate attempt to stop the leaking!
When we came back from the beach everyday after the room had been cleaned, the cleaner never left us any clean towels so I had to ask every day for new ones!
On our day of departure we ordered a room to have a shower and get ready as we were not being picked up until 22.20. When we went to reception to pick up the room key at 5pm we were sent down to the sauna - this room has no windows, no air-conditioning and no toilet!! I went back to reception and complained and asked for a proper room, after the woman on reception snatched the key off me and threw it on the desk we were given a room to get ready in!
We couldn't complain about the food however, even though a lot of people have. If you are a fussy eater than don't go abroad full stop as it's never the same as England! I happen to like trying different foods and was impressed with the options - especially the puddings, they were lovely! The only gripe I have about the food is that being in the Med, I expected a lot of seafood and I think I saw one mussel and some white fish in the whole week we were there!
I wouldn't go back to this hotel and it's certainly not a 5 star by any stretch. If you are used to going on holiday to a 3 star hotel you'll probably like it but I felt ripped off considering how much I paid for the holiday when last year I paid the same to go to Cuba all inclusive for a week at a 4 star hotel which was much nicer!

Sep 2006, Miss S N

I wasn't at all pleased with the standard and service of this five star hotel. One of the members of our family injured themselves as a sharp object was sticking out of the pool floor. 2 members of our family fell ill. The place was very unhygienic and the floor was filthy.
The only place where there was a.c. was in your room and in the shops but the lobby and sometimes the dining room were very warm as well as the games room.
There are many faults with this hotel. I give you just a few in the loooooong list.
Lifts broken occasionally making it very difficult to get to the main facilities e.g. the pool and dining room. Bad a.c., Filthy rooms, Broken lights, Broken glass in ice-cream bowls, Very rude reception, This is just a very small sample of what the hotel was like.
If you have already booked to stay in this hotel good luck and if you haven't then well, it's up to you but I certainly wouldn't.

I have just returned from a week...
7 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs A Dackevych

I have just returned from a week spent at Rodos Village with my husband and two grown up children. This was a last minute booking before they return to university. We have varied interests - my husband and son enjoy water sports, my daughter loves the beach, and I enjoy not having to cook and being able to sit and read!
We hired a jeep for four days and sought advice from the rental agent about interesting places to visit. We were so glad we did. As well as Rhodes Old Town and Lindos which we thoroughly enjoyed, we got a very different picture from visiting other parts of the island where we found the people to be very friendly and welcoming.
The hotel itself was perfectly adequate. O.K., you did not have your row of toiletries, pen, notepaper etc. etc. which you might expect in a British 5 star hotel, and there was only one English language channel, but to us this was not a problem. We did not find the staff rude; they were always polite although maybe not particularly friendly in certain cases. They were communicating in several different languages and were extremely busy. On two occasions I witnessed staff thanking guests who had pointed out a problem.
The first couple of nights we tried lots of different foods at the buffet, but as the week progressed we tended to narrow down our choice which worked better. The desserts were lovely, as were the pancakes in the morning! You could see that a real attempt had been made to cater for the different national preferences.
We all enjoyed our week and feel that it was good value for money. Rhodes is a beautiful island and we are glad that we visited it.

This hotel was possibly, no...

Sep 2006, Miss S Stanley

This hotel was possibly, no definitely the worst ever. The view was o.k. you got your mountains and beach in the distance. The beach was not 200m away as they mentioned on their official website. To get to the beach in the heat, you have to walk across the bridge type thing then climb down very wobbly stairs. After this you have to climb down more stairs and more stairs. Then you have to walk across the beach to get to sun beds. Imagine coming back up, when you have to climb all those stairs.
The food was rubbish, mostly the same thing you have your salad and some fly ridden deserts. Then to get to the hot dishes you have top wait for half an hour in the queue which is ridiculous and sometimes when you get to the food it's run out and you have to wait another 10 minutes for them to get more out. If you are a vegetarian there isn't much for you to eat.
The reception, manager and most bar staff were very rude. The maids were nice and friendly but when asked to put another 2 beds in our room they put another 3. The room got dirty quickly because of the tiled floor and we shared the room with a nice warm cuddly family of ants which was gross.
There was a broken light in the pool and pools were disgusting. Also at the indoor pool there was a glass ceiling but it was cracked at the edge making it look like it was about to fall any second.
Whoever made this hotel a 5* I disagree with totally and it's more like a 2 or 3*.

Sep 2006, Miss K Roberts

Enjoyed the holiday itself very much, especially the entertainment with Kurt, Lorenzo and the gang. Fantastic every night and also during the day, keeping people happy.
Found some members of staff to be quite rude, even the holiday rep who had a terrible attitude and did not care about helping when we asked for advice.
The food in the restaurant was good quality, but needed a bit of variety when you are there for a week. The worst thing about the holiday was the fact that we were not booked on the return flight, incompetence on the travel company's part, other than that a wonderful holiday, and a place where I would definitely stay again.

Be aware, be very aware, don't book...

Aug 2006, Mr S J Preece

Be aware, be very aware, don't book at this hotel unless you are prepared to find that the hotel is overbooked and that you have to spend 3 nights at there sister hotel over the road and then re-pack again and transfer for the final 4 nights at the Rodos Village.
This is the situation my family and I found out on our recent holiday. On arrival at the Village we were met with very rude and unhelpful reception staff who said that we would have to spend the first 3 nights of a 7 night holiday at another hotel.
After a lot of arguing we were told they would try and get us into the other hotel for the 7 nights. We only wanted to stay in one hotel for the whole holiday. However this did not materialise and we did have to move hotels in the middle of the holiday which was very inconvenient especially after our child had made lots of new friends.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I absolutely can not believe that so...

Aug 2006, Miss S Naya

I absolutely can not believe that so many people have given this hotel 6 to 10* it has been the worst hotel I have ever been to and it's not worth the 4hr flight. The view was stunning with hills, mountains and the beach.
That was about it. The lifts were broken half the time consequently making it difficult to reach the facilities easily. In the dining hall, the plates were wet and dirty, there was broken glass practically every night in the ice-cream bowls, flies surround you and your food, queues are very long to get hot food.
At the indoor pool there was a glass cover however the glass was broken at the edge which looked like it was about to fall at any second, some of the wheels on the deckchairs were broken which could send you flying back, a light which was supposed to illuminate the pool every night was in the water which is a severe safety hazard.
In the room the a.c. leaked, the shower rail broke, the TV quality was very bad and the remote for both the a.c. and TV broke.
Reception were very rude and extremely unhelpful especially the manager. During our stay we saw that many people complained about the hotel and the manager sometimes threatened to call the police or he told them that if they didn't like it they should just leave. Also some of the machines in the games room swallowed our money and when complaining to reception about it they couldn't care a less.
With the exception of some bartenders the staff were very rude.
I would not come to this hotel again if you paid me as it was the worst experience I have had with hotels. Why not go to Kusadasi Turkey instead and stay in the lovely Fantasia Hotel. Trust me it is not worth coming here, I would have preferred not to take the 4hr flight and driven down to Cornwall instead.

Aug 2006, Mrs T Field

The Rodos Village is a very beautiful and well managed hotel. The food is fantastic, as is the accommodation, the bar service, the staff, the pools, the entertainment etc.
As to the "trouser situation", all Mitsis Hotels have this ruling so that the other holidaymakers do not have to look at unsightly hairy legs whilst enjoying their evening meal.
If you have booked this Hotel, or are considering this hotel for your next holiday, you really can't go wrong, we shall definitely be returning.

Aug 2006, Miss C Cc

This hotel at first, looks like a magnificent 5 * hotel no doubt about it. The scenery is lovely the look of the hotel is as well. However, reception workers are extremely rude and if you have any problems the manager might tell you to leave. The ceiling on the indoor pool is broken at the edge which may prove to be dangerous. There is an unfixed light in the pool which obviously can harm you as water and electricity don't mix.
On your way to the beach there are more broken lights and the stairs are very wobbly. I saw two lifts break in my 2 weeks which was awful and most of the time half of them were out of order.
Our Air conditioning leaked and there was often no hot water for our showers. When I opened the shower curtain the rail broke of and the only English channel available was BBC news 24 which was ok but not when your TV keeps on stopping and going red. There was several power cuts most of them lasting for only a couple of minutes but some happened at about 11:00 lasting for quite a while.
The plates in the dining room were often wet and dirty and the queues were very long the waiters were very slow and sometimes got your drink orders mixed up.
In our room there was an unfinished border painting which looked terrible. This is the only 5* hotel I’ve been to where you have to pay to use the sauna - no wonder you don't see many people using it.
All in all if you paid me a million pounds I wouldn't go back to this awful hotel.
