At first I was quite disappointed with the hotel. The rooms were very small, as a teenager, I had to share a room with my grandparents where the beds were all in the same small space. The furnishings in the room were all peeling and the balcony was so small the shutters wouldn't open properly. Except the room we were very pleased with the rest of the holiday. There was a variety of foods and a wide range of drinks, the staff working at dinner were very friendly and were very happy to help out. The main building was stunning and very clean. There was many bars which accomodated to all guests of the hotel. The staff at reception were also very friendly and were willing to help out where needed. Pool areas were kept clean and tidy, the main pool area also had a little kabana that served hot and cold food and drinks. But the part of the holiday that was most outstanding was the hotels Animation Squad. They offered sports and fun in and around the pool, darts, and beachsports. At night they provided excellent entertainment and a mini-disco for younger children. I have given high accomodations to the entertainment crew and hotel (and if you have stayed at the hotel then you may get the joke), if you give the hotel a bad review then 'RED CARD IN THE POOL!!!!!'

Just got back from this hellhole. This hotel is Butlins Abroad. No it is not 5 star as is claimed. I would rate it as a reasonable 3 star at best. However this review is NOT for the able bodied, who will be able to cope with the fact that you need to be a mountain goat to participate in even a percentage of the facilities. It is absolutely NO GOOD AT ALL IF YOU ARE DISABLED IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM. Similarly if you rely on a buggy for your children, you will struggle, no doubt about it. Top pool? - forget it. Ampitheatre where all the entertainment is held? - an absolutely nono - loads of steps down. Go onto the beach? - long walk and a rough path await. Want to use the internet or play games? - down a spiral staircase!
The ramps either side of the steps shown at the front of the hotel are marble and people SKATE down them, make sure you have shoes that grip or you will slip. Need a sunbed? Get up at 7am and you may have a chance of getting one. Everywhere but everywhere is either steep slopes or steep stairs and not a handrail in sight.
Feeling a bit dodgy in the morning? dont ask for a coffee to take out of the restaurant - it wont happen, similarly if you want a coffee from the rock cafe after 11pm - they dont serve it even though the bar is open until 12midnight.
Food was very samey - no traditional greek dishes per se.
As you can guess this is probably the worst holiday we have been on. My husband has MS and we always check out hotels quite thoroughly, so this was a huge let down. Mitsis dont have this information on their website, but apparently it is mentioned on another website (hotels4u.com) that the hotel is not suitable for people with walking difficulties - be aware is all we can say.

Just returned from a 7 day holiday - had an amazing holiday. We would highly reccommend this to any family or couple looking to have a relaxing break. It is also fun, with lots to do, nice food, fresh / clean rooms daily & a nice area of the island.
The pools were nice, each with a bar. The Beach was the winning point for us. The beach is apparently the cleanest in Europe. It is crystal clear, lots of little fish which you can feed and they eat from your hands (great if you have a snorkle kit), and very refreshing after lying in the sun.
The food was great - as there was an al a carte Italian which we went to almost every day. The service is great, the food was better than most nice Italian restaurants we have been to in the UK (including Zizi's). The main restaurant was also really nice, but we didn't get a chance to go there as we spent most of our time in the Italian!
Our room had such a nice view, over the sea, pool and mountaints, with a nice little balcony. Sheets & towels were fresh everyday.
The animation team are fun, there is lots to do if you enjoy sports and socialising, and they put on some entertaining shows in the evening.
The only bad point i have (which is why our score is 9 and not 10), is that there was an EARTHQUAKE! Couldn't believe it, but apparently they are common there. However, the hotel proved good quality, nothing crumbled or was damaged, compared to lots of other hotels on the island from the stories we were hearing at the airport. It is designed for them... Dont let this put you off, as it wasn't harmful, just not expected when you're asleep at 6am...
highly reccommended.

I am writing this from the computer suite in the Rodos Village Hotel. I am on day 8 of a 14 day holiday and feel compelled to write as my 14 year old daughter had read some of the negative comments on this site before we came away. This dampened her enthusiasm for the holiday needlessly.
I overheard a snatch of conversation from two groups of Brits as I walked by a couple of nights ago which went along the lines of...
Middle aged man: "It's not five star"
Teenage girl: "And that food they put out is left sitting there"."
First point first... It's not "English" five star here and thank Christ for that. Who want's to spend two weeks of hard earned holiday with that stifeling formality? If you want a battalion of servile staff standing inviting you to click fingers at them or a bloke in the toilet standing by to unfold a hot towel for you, (tip bowl prominent), then you will be dissapointed. I suggest instead you try the Four Seasons in Mayfair or the Hong Kong Hotel in Hong Kong. I've found them both very good. But that is not what an Aegean beach holiday is about.
If instead you want to relax - play - eat and drink in a spotlessly clean environment that could double for a location for a James Bond movie... where the staff are friendly and eager to help... then this is more your ticket.
Second point: "Food left standing"... JUST WRONG ON EVERY LEVEL! The food here is varied and replenished regularly. It has a freshness that we can only dream of in Britain. Absolutely beautiful. Why someone should say such a thing I have no clue. I can only assume that some seasoned all inclusive travellers look for things to be dissatisfied with and "food left standing" must be a mantra of theirs.
It is a bit much to ask for any one place to keep you amused night after night so I don't think it unreasonable to expect to fork out for a cab or rent a car and eat out once in a while during your stay.
Having said that, our hire car has sat largely unused in the car park for a week because we only get a few hundred yards up the road and we cant think of a place we'd sooner be than back at Rodos Village.
Truth is its a harsh environment out there... very very hot. With access to air-con, shade, fluids and water to dip in and out of the heat is bearable or even enjoyable.
(This week though we are determined to explore the rest of the island.)
Sunbeds being claimed early on is a problem. But its a problem with an easy solution. Get up early, (7.30ish) and lay a few towels). Wrong that you should have to but once you accept thats how it is you can get on enjoying your hols.
I'm here with wife and four teenage kids. Having the time of our lives. The staff are great and love kids. Even big ones like ours. Don't let the whingers put you off.

I dont know what people are saying about this being a 3 star, i went with my girlfriend in 2006 in september the transfer was the only part we did not like as we were knackered but thats our fault for getting too excited because of the holiday.
It was a truly fantastic holiday to this day we cant forget it and cant beat it, the beach was about a 3 minute walk and was lovely, we had about 300 yards just to ourselves which was nice, the food was brilliant and staff were fantastic the hotel was the best, built into the cliff side with a pool on the roof just brilliant please do dismiss all the negative it was beautiful

Yeah.. Have to agree with Mr T Sherman on the point of are German friends. But please don't let this put you off. We did meet some nice folk from all round europe. The hotel is very clean and well presented. The food was very good and varied tho out the 2 weeks we stayed there. Staff and management give it 100% to make are stay a pleasant one. The greek people seem to be a generally happy race. The Animation entertainment team are some of the funniest guys we have ever had the pleasure to meet and gave 200% to the kids and adults who joined in with them. Rooms clean but in need of TLC. Beach close by with free sunbeds and a hotel bar providing drink/snacks. Watersports also on beech. Over all, for the price we paid we did not expect British 5star standard (more like 3 star).

Normally I would rate this hotel around 7. The food was tasty and varied although it could have been hotter. The restaurand staff were friendly and efficent. Standards fell in our room as the bed had the lumpiest mattress I have ever tried to sleep on, also the air conditioning would shake rattle & roll all around the clock.
My main reason for giving such a low rating was that at least 95 per cent of the guests were German. I have shared previous holidays with them and managed to co-exist without too much friction - but NOT HERE!!!
I have never known such a rude, bolshy lot of pigs in all my life. The first time I walked up to the main bar and said "Hello" to the barman, a German voice chipped in "Goodbye".
After wasting the first week of our holiday we moved to the Lindos Royal a few miles down the road, and had no further problems, with ANY nationality, so it wasn't us!!!

I thought this holiday was great. Simple but great.
Staff were friendly. Especially entertainment staff, they were such a laugh and made the holiday even better. Day and night time entertainment was always something to look forward to.
Would recommend this place to anyone.

Booked this holiday on tour operators recommendation, but I will always be very sceptical of them from now on as this complex is NOT 5star. Not even a complimentary soap, only bit 5 star really was towel and sheet change daily.
Although staff were polite and genial, when I did complain about a missed early call all I got was language barrier but understood if buying; funny that?
Room very basic, plugs hanging off, mould round bath, basic shower and stained mattresses. Main dining hall flies and sparrows and most of all the whole place is an accident zone. I know we have a different safety culture but by main pool 2 ft drop and in lots other areas.
Would not use this facility again I don't go on holiday to live in worse than at home,if the standard for this country is three star that is what it should advertise.

Looked at reviews and was a bit apprehensive, however we wanted a week of nice weather and relaxation. Got there 0300hrs and afetr a 50 min taxi ride (bad driving) we were glad to go bed.
Room airy and clean, not a 5 star but 3 maybe 4. Very friendly staff. Lunch next day was nice, big dining area and plenty of choice of foods. Drinks okay as well. The entertainment not the best as the daytime staff for entertainment have the speakers on full volume when speaking although not too bad and the poolside very clean and pleasant, along with the pools very nice. Evening entertainment not brilliant for adults although ok for kids i.e. greek nights and comedy nights, wouldn't say the entertainers are as good as uk red coats but do try!
All in all staff very friendly. Had to leave halfway through week as medical emergency so didn't stay full week. Dr visits daily at 7pm at cost of 100 euros.
Beach very close, few steps in and around resort and leading to beach but clean with food/drink bar. Shingle/sand but very clean and staff friendly, and lots of sun beds. Watersports and views very good and canoes etc free. Would like to return one day for the other half of our holiday!

Would not class this as a 5 star hotel. A lot of confusion over where we were staying - it would seem that a booking here is interchangeable with the Rodos Maris Hotel. A lot of people also had this difficulty. We were allocated a ' bungalow' on arrival, which we were disappointed with as we had booked a room in the hotel. Not suitable for elderly or disabled as much accommodation was only reached by an extremely steep slope - needed oxygen at the top!
Rooms basic, entertainment poor. Some reception staff were unhelpful and rude. Holiday rep. was also unhelpful and was lacking in basic information. Food was good although repetitive. Beach very shingly and not ideal for children. Some areas of the hotel were in need of repair. Alcohol was plentiful - but watered down?
Very remote part of the island - ideal for some- but a car is recommended as the bus takes for ever to reach tourist attractions.

Just got back from a fantastic, enjoyable and friendly 2 weeks in the rodos village and I had to write a review for those people who are about to go there.DON'T WORRY THIS PLACE IS EXCELLENT.Yes the rooms are slightly dated and need a bit of tlc,but how long do you spend in a room? The rest of the hotel is spotless and all the staff friendly and very efficient. The food was great with plenty of choices to suit all tastes with a great setting overlooking the sea or you could sit inside in the cooler air conditioned areas, yes there are flys but tell me where you don't find these when you are in a hot country and the restaurant is open air!! You have the choice to drink from a number of bars including a beach bar which gave you drinks and snacks, something you don't always find covered on your all inclusive so a real bonus.
There is also the pizzaria which is superb and gives you the chance to be waited on for a change! You do have to book this early at the reception but it is well worth getting up early for.
The hotel was mostly occupied by europeans during our stay and I must state that this was a pleasant surprise, they where great fun and friendly, only on rare occasions was there the odd act of rudeness.
You do have to get up early to get a sun lounger but tell me where you dont! Anyway it is well worth it at the main pool because you will be superbly entertained by two of the nicest most talented people you are likley to meet anywhere,Ramsey and Mido. These two are the main members of a quite superb annimation team led by Gino, they work extraordinary long hours,15hrs a day 6 days aweek, yet they always kept me and my family entertained,Water polo, darts, aqua gym, aerobics as well as just chatting.(I must'nt forget dj Alex who was also fabulous fun around the pool)If you joined in the fun,it was great.A message to my fello ninjas (HE HA WHO HA ARGH!!!) and for those people who met the sixth spice girl (ROMAN) AIEE AIEE !!
At night time it was of to the amphitheatre,a great setting where you where entertained by the most talented annimation team ever.Again Ramsey and Mido where the main men but they where supported by the rest of the team who all gave everything they had to entertain you. Some of the things Ramsey and Mido did would not be out of place at any show anywhere in the world, truly outstanding, these two would be big part of our decision to return, yes, they are that good...14 nights,14 different shows, excellent.
The hotel is secluded but it is clearly stated in all brouchers,so why people are complaining about this i've no idea,I would suggest that you hire a car if possible because the rest of the island is a must see.
The hotel is very hilly so if this is problem don't go as some are very steep.
All in all a great holiday, maybe not 5 star but for sheer enjoyment 10 star!!
PAUL,BRENDA, LEWIS & CALLUM.
