Green Golf Bungalows Reviews
" Poor! "
Submitted By: Disappointed77I have had to double check I have the right Green Golf accommodation in Maspalomas having read so many good reviews and high scores! This place was awful!
Rude receptionists - on arrival the man on reception raced through 3 parties of us checking in, scribbled the 'how to find your bungalow' and snapped at a man that came back to say he couldn't get his key to work - it was all a bit odd.
We returned the next day to ask for an extra pillow and the lady on reception was extremely rude - attitude being how dare you ask for one and after a bit of back and forth snapping with her she reluctantly requested one...?!
Neither the Firstchoice rep nor the reception staff knew anything about golf, despite us staying at the Green Golf, on the golf course...again asking was hard work, snapped responses, almost how dare you ask me attitude.
The MiniMarket supermarket was very basic, often had run out of basics such as bread, milk etc. by mid morning and was VERY expensive - we used it only once after our initial shop there when we urgently needed milk and loo rolls (as maid hadn't left any!) and we paid 4 Euros for UHT carton milk and 2 cheap pack loo rolls?
Rep was very cheesy in style, both on the transfers and at accommodation. Very limited info on resort and accommodation (could we drink water?, which pool was heated?, how does restaurant work - as it was buffet and menu) and to our horror we had the ' can you turn to the person on the next table and tell them something about yourself' rubbish as an ice breaker at the welcome meeting?... It was all very ITV show Benidorm - suits some folk I'm sure...
Restaurant was very German in style (there are a huge amount of Germans in resort and at accomodation certainly in Nov), open buffet, mid nineties style restaurant. We ate once a la carte. Never again! Waiters were gruff, rude Spanish men who were not particularly friendly. On arrival we waited over 10 mins to be given a menu. When we were given them we asked for drinks and were told – wait! And he came back after 5 mins, took drink order, then waited another 10 mins to take our food order – it was long and drawn out and was 9:10pm by the time we ordered! I ordered a salad without prawns and received a salad with Tuna. I sent it back and was told that I had ordered it....err, no I hadn't and I HATE tuna so would never have requested this... The salad returned without tuna 10 mins later, on eating I discovered they had scraped off the tuna - problem being the salad reeked and tasted of tuna throughout and was evident at the bottom of the plate. I was charged for a Tuna salad and when I queried it was told it was a standard price as salad comes with a fish normally...?!
Bungalow was extremely loud - to the point of every night being woken by snoring and trips to the toilet by either guests next door. We were also on the North facing side over looking the front of the complex, so the main roads – it was awful. By 4am trucks started delivering either at Green Golf or Sandy Golf right opposite – it was far too noisy. We were going to ask to be move but discovered 3 others had already asked and only 1 had been able to be moved after 2 days of there stay. The others were waiting and hoping. We were 3 days into a 1 week stay, hardly worth asking given the hassle we’d endured over an extra pillow…
Maids were I think 4 times over 1 week, sometimes we got loo rolls, sometimes we didn't - despite being down to the roll on some days! Balls of fluff and hair always swirling around the apartment.
Gap under front door was massive ( a good 1.5 inch) and every single day we had massive cockroaches coming in and settling in the curtains by the front door.
Maid service came into the bungalow one day despite us clearly putting the red - do not disturb sign on the front door. I was ill in bed and she still tried to clean...?
Resort itself was odd. We hadn't realised that there was no harbour, or coastal centre area to walk around each evening and that these awful tacky commercial centres were the norm on Gran Canaria. It depends what you like from a holiday but a word of warning: if you love a history, culture and a resort with a soul, nice areas with a Spanish (local) feel Gran Canaria or certainly Playa del Ingles, Menoras and Maspalomas are NOT it. They are commercial, tacky, either English or German catered eateries - cafe/restaurants with the same old menu's. The Faro 2 type commercial centres are just that - commercial, neon lighted, fair ground, take away, pub type centres. Even the Spanish waiters call you ‘mate’!
If you want a golf centred holiday, as we did, there are far better places in Portugal - Maspalomas, despite it's claims, is not it.
Advice: Tacky, heartless resort.

Was a great holiday and i would recomend it to people of all ages, especially young people as we loved it! Also five minutes walk away was bars, pubs and clubs. Great holiday!!

Submitted By: Ms S MOONEYwhich was of no value at all. So you would need to buy a fan if the weather is good,
the stairs leading to the Bedroom is quite steep and is not suitable for eldery or young
children.
My party was lucky as it was only for a week but my god did we loose weight, as there was no relief from the fans!!!!!!!!! it was a nightmare.

Submitted By: Miss A Knightbungalows are great, they are spacious, clean, all have a terrace with patio set and lounger and also an upstairs balconey. The pools are big and kept very clean, plenty of loungers to go round you didnt have to get up at a silly time to get one. The food wasnt great in the resturant but to tell you the truth it was just the same in town and in Playa de ingles, (but then again ive based this on food ive eaten in cyprus and turkey which is lovely and good value for money) Kids entertainment could have been a bit better there wasnt much going on. On arriving at Las Palma Airport you will probably be greated by very dull and cloudy weather however this soon changes within 15 mins of travelling away from it ( people looked really p`d off when they landed cos of the thick cloud and yes I did as well, but it soon changed), the sunshine was out from early morning until late at night it was glorious. I dont think anyone could not enjoy this resort
and would of gave it a 10 if the entertainment had been a bit better along with the food.

Submitted By: Mrs M CraneIt's nothing to do with the complex but just wanted to add people smoke in restaurants over there without a second thought. If you are non smokers like us this was sometimes a real nuisence.

Submitted By: Miss A ScrivenThe beach in Maspalomas is lovely but we also went on the bus to the local beaches near by such as Anfi Del Mar and Amaderus Beach (next to Puerto Rico). Our Rep was really helpful and told us exactly where to go and how to get there.
Overall a very chilled holiday and ideal for what we wanted.

Submitted By: Mrs K KirkmanI agree that the kitchen equipment, if you are self catering were rather basic, but no
complaints. A microwave would be useful. The rooms cleaned five or six times a week.
A pity there are no English speaking channels other than CNN on the television.
The little supermarket was adequate. Also the free bus to the Dunes was rather useful
saved you the fare if you wanted to there every day.
The evening entertainment was a bit low key, but the young kids seemed to enjoy it
An ideal place for a quiet holiday.
Most evenings we went into Melonaras, not any Spanish restaurants about, mostly the usual holiday fare.
We went to the Las Vegas Legends show in Melonaras twice. Once just to see the show
and once for the dinner and show. It was fantastic. Worth a trip to see it.
I would like to say, we felt very safe in the grounds of the bungalows as you have
a card to get in and out of the grounds. Also I felt quite safe at night in and around
Melonaras and Maspalomas. The taxies are easy to get.
We would go back again.

Submitted By: Miss S McCullaghThe room service was brilliant if we needed anything they went and got it.
The room was cleaned every day and the bedding was clean as well. The food was lovely.
The shops were around the corner and there was every thing there that we needed. We just needed a bus to go to the waterparks and the bus was very cheep.
Every thing overall was fantastic i would reccommed it to a family with children there are loads for children to do .
I will be going back to Campo De Golf Bunglows in the next couple of years.

Submitted By: Mrs J MorrisonThe pool is great ,and the bar staff were so friendly. I would give ten out of ten to them.
However the reception staff weren’t too friendly at all.
The food was ok, but we ate out most of the time. The apartments are in a great location, close to playa de ingles for nightlife, the faro 2 for meals and a quiet night out and not too far from the beach.
You get a key card for entry into the complex and after returning from a night out in Playa del Ingles we realised that we had forgot to take ours out with us and were therefore locked out of the complex, luckily enough some other holiday makers turned up later on and let us in.
The worst thing about our stay was the amount of cockroaches in the apartment, one was even on the bed, couldn’t sleep without a belly full of beer with fear of them crawling over us. Hence the trips to the wonderful Playa del Ingles. The kids club was only on a few mornings.

Submitted By: Mr I JonesThe accommodation was fine but some of the furniture, particularly with the bedrooms, was arguably a little dated and basic.
The staff were excellent, very polite and friendly and our accommodation cleaned and maintained to a good standard.
The room maid cleaned on 5 out of 7 days and our bed linen changed on each occasion.
The swimming pools were maintained to a very high standard too.
The location is handy for Faro 2 and easily accessible is nearby Maspalomas.
I see absolutely no reason to complain about this accommodation. Please don't listen to the bad reviews!! You will love every minute!!
" Upon arrival were told by a rude... "
Submitted By: Mrs G FaresinShe got an apartment hastily cleaned and when we went to look the floor was wet through and covered in hairs. The settee was covered in food from the previous occupants. We were not amused and asked for it to be cleaned properly.
We (being a couple) had paid an extra 170 pounds for under occupancy as it was supposed to be for 3 people. You could not swing a cat in it.
In the evening we asked for an extra pillow and were told there weren’t any. Good job there was only two of us because our third invisible guest would have had no bedding.
To cut a long story short we complained to Thomsons and credit due to them, they got us moved to the Rui Flamingo at an extra cost of 150 pounds. It is marvellous and we would recommend it.
Green Golf apartments are horrible and the staff need some serious customer service training. Don’t go there.

On our arrival I found the reception staff perfectly polite and civil. We had travelled with a 4 month old baby so hoped there wouldn't be a problem with having a travel cot ready, but all was in order and were given a room right near the pool/reception which helped us.
The resturant was fairly basic and I have to agree with the last "1/10" review, the staff were rude and abrupt and in fact, we were happy we had booked Self Catering and chose not to eat in the resturant for the rest of the holiday.
The evening entertainment is basic but friendly enough. However, there is a large German presence in the complex, which is fine, but it meant that although the lady running the entertainment tried her best to say everything in both German and English, she ultimately ended up siding with German and we were sat there wondering what the hell was going on whilst others were laughing!
We decided to venture out and about for food and entertainment after the first night. Maspalomas is quiet with little to do, but we knew this before travelling (I don't understand why people don't research the place they pay £100's to go to and complain about it after they leave!!) The places to eat are simple but cheap and very friendly (and adore kids!). Probably better for lunch rather than an evening meal.
Taxi's are very cheap mind you and 3 or 4 Euros gets you to the beech front with all designers shops and nicer resturants.
As far as the facilities go, there are 2 huge pools at Green Golf, and a baby pool. Ample sunbeds, and a pool bar which is nice enough.
Bungalows are basic but again, nice enough. We requested more pillows and had them within 10 minutes, had a problem with hot water and again, a maintenance guy was there within half an hour.
We set out on this holiday wanting a cheap week of winter sun and we got what we paid for.
It had it's bad points, it's quiet and the resturant staff are a bit abrupt. But we're a young (ish!) family with a infant and we wanted somewhere quiet to have some family time and found it to be perfect.
Would we go back and stay again? Resort yes, complex, probably not.
One word of advise - Maspalomas and surrounding areas are VERY expensive. I didn't pay less that 3.50 Euros for a Pint once all week and at one place was shocked to get the bill to find a pint had cost us 6 Euros!!!!!!
Good for: Beach
