In the first instance it's good that everyone has different opinions about this hotel.
Having just returned from La Perla and its surrounding area, I would like to comment as follows:-
I agree with other Reviewers that the Lobby to this hotel is very grand but there is no entertainment, which is a pity, as the lobby space is quite vast. The food is also mediocre. Don’t get me wrong, you can always find something to eat, but I found most of the food to be luke warm and ate pasta most nights as they cooked this in front of you. This, I’m afraid, is why I would still class La Perla as a three star.
The staff are friendly, helpful and make an effort to speak to you in your own language. How they manage to keep smiling day in day out beats me! I guess the tips must be good! The rooms are spotless but are in need of decoration, especially the bathrooms. My water heater and my neighbour’s had a mind of its own, so don’t expect long hot showers, It won’t happen!
Drinks prices, especially for spirits, were a bit on the high side. A measure of gin, vodka, whisky (all local spirits) came in at around £3.50 - £4.00 each. Perhaps the prices get cheaper throughout the summer months – who knows.
Although a bus runs from the hotel to Naama Bay at 10.30 every evening, the price of a taxi is only £2 (20 Egyptian Pounds) and taxi’s are plentiful. Make sure you agree the price before getting in as they will stand there all day and haggle with you.
The hotel beach is on a cliff with a tiny bay underneath. You can’t swim from the shore as there is too much coral to negotiate. There is a jetty out to the sea so anyone who wants to swim & see the fish can do so at their own peril.
The two resorts are Naama Bay and Old Sharm. Old Sharm is nicer than Naama and to me the Egyptians seemed nicer there too! They are all trying to make money and can be quite aggressive if you are not careful. My friends & I learned to walk up the middle of the streets to stay away from them. Apart from the Jewelers shops, the souvenirs were the same in every shop. If you aren't buying, don’t let them intimidate you, just be as friendly as you can and keep walking.
A very different holiday indeed, and I would only go back for the weather, beware though, throughout Jan and Feb it is cold at night.

La Perla Hotel was about the only good thing during this holiday. Hurghada itself was dump, with people hassling you and ripping you off left, right and centre. There is no sense of humour, and friendliness is a false act to get your money.
The hotel however was wonderful. Our rooms were spacious, cleaned every day to a high standard, public areas were immaculate, (the cleaners even took our towels and made sculptures with them of swans and love hearts!).
The staff would do anything to assist you, and for once the drinks and snacks in the hotel were the same, if not cheaper than down the road. The ashtrays were changed after every cigarette smoked, the marble was polished daily. I really don’t know why this hotel is only a 3*, as it puts many 4* hotels I have stayed in to shame.

Fabulous hotel! I paid a very cheap price for the holiday, but i would of paid alot more if i had known how nice the hotel was! When i first booked the holiday, I expected to be going to your average bog standard 3* hotel, but the moment I entered the hotel doors, and walked into the magnificent lobby I was gob-smacked! I couldn’t believe this hotel was only a 3*!
The lobby, was beautiful, marble floors, beautiful lighting, amazing pool table, and it was a massive lobby, not a crappy little thing. The bedrooms were great, the staff were great, the pools were great, the location was great! And i am going back in 1 month I loved it so much!

Amazing holiday! Absolutely Brilliant! The hotel was just Superb, Great staff, everything is so clean, great service, great everything!!! I would recommend this Hotel to anybody, it is just so good! And i mean it, It deserves more then 3*, compared to some of the awful hotels that get 3* in countries like Spain etc, La perla is a Palace!
The pools were fab, the smaller one had a volleyball net, and the big one was just great and the prices and the pool bar and lobby bar were very cheap!
The lobby was very posh and huge, considering it is quite a small hotel, it had marble floors, posh lighting, big grand Pool/snooker table, 2 computers for Internet access, but i heard they were getting more.
This hotel was FABULOUS!

When I went in May, I thought that the hotel would not be very good as it is only 3*, but I think it should be 4* at least! It is an excellent hotel!!! Its clean, great pools - and very clean water in the pools, very nice lobby! Great staff! Great price! Going back again this August it was so good! Recommend it to anyone! Its just Fab! The plane journey was good, very comfortable, it takes 5 1/2 hours, and the airport at Sharm el sheikh is so cheap! Everything in Sharm el sheikh is just so cheap!

Got there at 2130 - no food restaurant closed ok but no food offered.
Got key to room. Oh how it looked like a 70s room. Beds hard as rocks and single just what you want to see. Got in shower and it did not work. Asked reception to fix and yes it was done.
Food was ok, the only main food was chicken or beef. English food was not served, there more Russians in the hotel, so they got catered for, but you could always rustle up something.
Beach, well that was some thing to be desired, private beech looks like a land slide with water at bottom.
All inclusive, well you get local beer which I'm not a drinker but was told very weak, spirits had to be paid for, coffee tea was extra. No kids club nothing for kids very poor.
Reception very unhelpful. Have stayed in other hotels which were excellent, but this very poor.
Swimming pool cold, kids could not get in. The only good thing about this hotel was the Saturday when we left.
