" First of all I was very disappointed... "

First of all I was very disappointed of the food, and not only myself, but also the friends I have been with.
Though we gave a tip to the receptionist, he has sent us to a room, near the bungalows, which had ants on the floor and a weird smell, and a very weak light in the bathroom ( though he said he'll give us a very good room)
The next day I asked for the room to be changed, and they moved us in the center ( near the restaurant and pool, etc).
This room was way spacious and has a partially sea view, like all the other rooms have, according to the construction. But the sewing was bad, since it was stinking all the time.
Above the lobby bar, as they have called it, there were some few rooms with a real sea view.
The cleaning guy cleaned every day- he was ok (probably because we left him a tip) If you don't give a tip, they are not nice to you, on the contrary.
let's talk about the all-inclusive menu, definitely not a 4 star menu. The salads were basic( nothing special)- tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green salad and they were old and dry- they kept the salads from the day before and so on.
And the bullshit about diverse different traditional food was not true. They had one night some Egyptian “grass balls”, not meat balls.
They had 3 types of salad dressing- ketchup, yoghurt and a mix of ketchup and yoghurt. Bleah!
The dressing was in some bowls that they were using at all the meals, with the leftovers from the day before, for sure.
the chips were undone ( when we were lucky to get French fries) and the boiled potatoes were hard.
The sauce was made from flour with water- tasteless, not even butter, no flavors.
The meet was reecooked from the leftovers from the meal before ( very dangerous) again with the tasteless sauce and they and no pork- only chicken legs and some beef.
the sausages were made from Soya.
Luckily there was a Mc Donalds 20 km away to the Sakkala city centre, and we ate food which had taste.

One day we went on a boat trip to e very beautiful island- Giftun.. Here a 12 years old boy has cooked some really good on the boat!

At breakfast, the only good thing was the omelets, that was cooked in front of you, where you could add limited amount of ingredients, as if we hadn't paid for it.
Some of the desserts were ok ( just one or 2)
We have skipped lunch several times, and in the last 2 days we ate only simple rice, because everybody got a bad stomach.
When we had the problem I went to discus with the relations officer, explained the problem, and to go to the doctor , you had to pay extra 5o euros, pluss the pills.
After we got sick after their food, we dad to also pay for the doctor 50 euros, considerting that an average income for the Egiptain is 80 euro per month.
They were trying to get money for everything.
Don’t buy from the hotel souvenir shop or food shop. They have no prices and they make the prices depending on your face.
When we went to Sakkala, a man asked 80 dollars for a water pipe, and we negotiated and we got 2 big ones for 18 dollars, both.
So, the only nice thing was the sea, very clean and very blue…around the islands.
The hotel was ok, the pool was dirty.
Totally, I would never go back there again!!!

" I stayed at the Panorama for a week... "

I stayed at the Panorama for a week in November, the weather was perfect.

The Panorama was not, the main problem and quite a large one if on all inclusive was the diabolical food, this was my fourth visit to El Gouna having stayed at the Three corners Riahnna the month before.

I was expecting something a little better even though the Three Corners was absolutely fantastic, food out of this world, but I paid nearly double for the Panorama.

I was so disappointed this hotel has fabulous potential, it could not be in a better position and situation, it’s on a beautiful beach and we had a water front bungalow that was stunning, steps from our balcony led down into the lagoon.

The grounds are pretty and most of the staff very friendly. The Dining room was dirty, shabby and in need of a total overhaul, this is worrying as the Panorama is one of the newer hotels in El Gouna.

The Management were not in the slightest bit interested in complaints. My friend is still suffering from a dodgy tummy from the one and only dinner we ate in the hotel. I have never had this experience in any of the other El Gouna Hotels.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I was also double charged and over charged for my Egyptian visa by Olympic/Panorama holidays.

" As with all the other reviews the... "

As with all the other reviews the hotel was good value for the money paid. I think expectations are set high by the 4* rating, this is an Egyptian rating not mainland Europe! This is our third trip to Egypt and will continue to go whenever we get the chance, the people in El Gouna, as most other Egyptian resorts, are attentive, friendly and, in the main. genuine. The people in the Panorama were no different.

The beach bungalow we had was clean on arrival and had a few niggly things wrong, light bulb not working, shower head loose, these were fixed within 30 minutes (and we arrived at 8 in the evening!)

The food was warm, but there was plenty of it at every mealtime, I think the menus are geared to the predominantly Eastern European taste, we had a go at everything. Yes we had the dreaded Pharaoh’s revenge, as we also did in a 5* hotel in Sharm 2 years ago, it happens! The local pharmacist soon sorted that out for 75p.

For a change the local restaurants are excellent value, even those in the marina! and when you can get anywhere in El Gouna on a Tuc-Tuc for 50p, relax and enjoy the trip, we did. The Dive Connection diving school is second to none, two PADI courses completed in utter safety and with confidence, I'll be diving with them again.

All in all a thoroughly wicked and restful holiday, you gets what you pay for and then some. We're going back!

" We stayed at the panorama resort in... "

We stayed at the panorama resort in June, 3 adults and 2 children. I was in the main hotel and my friends booked a lagoon bungalow, we had only just arrived when the youngest of the 2 children tried to get over the balcony which lead straight in to the sea, so they contacted the manager and were moved to a garden bungalow with no problems, I found the main hotel a bit to noisy at night and was moved to a garden bungalow the next day, again with out any fuss.

The hotel staff we found to be really helpful and they could not do enough for us, ahmed who runs the pool bar looked after us well and kept us in cold drinks when needed. All the pool staff were really good to us, as were most of the other hotel staff. The food was ok most days, and after the end of the first week our rep arranged for the children to get chips during meal times.

The resort itself is a great place for families and we found it much easier than Sharm. The little boat will take you and pick you up right up till midnight. We would go back to this hotel without any problems.

" Just returned from holiday at the... "

Just returned from holiday at the Panorama hotel, overall a fair hotel but would not rate as a 4 star.

Our bungalow was over the lagoon with steps straight down into the sea, on hot afternoons wonderful to chill out with a drink on the terrace and swim in clear water.
As in previous reports the food is not good, no change through-out the 2 weeks hardly any fruit which was different to other hotels we have stayed in through-out Egypt.

Staff cannot be faulted, always helpful and happy, however thought management lacked leadership and did not listen to staff.

El Gouna town great place to walk round at night plenty of bars, very little hassle from shop keepers and plenty of places to eat good food if unable to stand the hotel food any more.

Overall a relaxing holiday, great people but let down by the food.

" Our room had urine and excrement... "

Our room had urine and excrement marks in the bathroom, the food was served up luke warm at each meal, the crockery was always dirty (grease marks, dried food) even after bringing this to the attention of the manager and the resort rep.

Then to cap it all I caught food poisoning after only 2 days and spent 2 days in the local hospital before moving to the Hilton (5*) in the next town which was brilliant in comparison.

Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

" We had a bungalow on the lagoon with... "

We had a bungalow on the lagoon with its own terrace and steps down to the lagoon. The Bungalow was a good size and well furnished. The staff were all extremely helpful and could not do enough for you, the overall service from everyone was excellent. The hotel and facilities were very good the only downside was the food, which was poor.

However don’t let this put you off as a quick trip in the free boat to downtown gave you a very good choice or if there are a few you, try a took took race there. You have to go to Dunes where we had the best fillet steak for £5.50 it was lovely.

A small tip each day meant we always had a poolside lounger although there are plenty of these and also nice quiet areas around the beach. Make sure you take the free boat to Zeytouna Beach for some snorkelling and a nice lunch.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and although there were only a few English people there we met some great people including the staff and had a fantastic time. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a friendly atmosphere then this is highly recommended.

" I thought as there were no reviews, I... "

I thought as there were no reviews, I would be the first. All I can say is 'fantastic'.

Only twenty or so English whilst I was there with my son, but others included, German, Dutch, Belgian, but everyone kept themselves to themselves. a very pretty and relaxed town, but plenty of bars open to the early hours if that’s what you wish. very hot with a cool sea breeze in the day. the staff are so friendly and a small tip will go along way.

If you don’t wish to relax by the pool or in the sea, you can catch a taxi by boat from the hotel beach, down to the marine free of charge to snorkel with the fishes. There are plenty of snorkelling and quad biking trips and not to expensive.

The bungalows are fantastic with a great balcony and your only 7 steps front the sea (which was so warm even in the early hours of the morning). all in all a great place.

The only down side that I and all the British I spoke to got stomach cramp and the dreaded D word, so go prepared

If you wish to do activities as well as relax then a fortnight is a must. Enjoy your holiday I did and so did everyone I meet.
