We stayed in the Ficus for a week starting 30/01/2011.
The counter staff were helpful and spoke enough English to be able to deal with enquiries. The room was clean and fresh, but i do agree with a previous review about the linin and towels not smelling clean and fresh.
Another downside was the sliding doors didnt lock securley. They just "clipped" closed. The light which was meant to light up out front door and the passage way to the strairs didnt work, so when we returned to the apartment at night we had to use our phone light to get the key in the door!! I complained about this the day after we arrived and the staff member made a note of it. Nothing at all was done after two further complaints and a complaint to our rep. In the end i gave up!! the balcony light also didnt work, which made it impossible to sit out at night. I asked to change rooms, to one that had working lights and they told me everything was fully booked. The entertainment was good. However, the pool was FREEZING! Impossible to go in, i had just my feet in the water sat on the side and i had to get out 'cause it actually started to numb me! The food is ok. Overall, i wouldnt go back as on a typical holiday most people want to go in the swimming pool and sit on the balcony at night and these were impossible to do :(

My Husband and i have have just got back from a week's stay
the hotel is a bit dated but the room was clean the staff were very helpful at all times. The food was excellent with a help yourself buffet that catered for most diets, it was kept very fresh and the food area was tidy,it is a shame how some people were wasting food just because they could we hope to go back next year, Great keep up the good work.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week at the Ficus. I agree with the previous review and I suspect we were there at the same week! Rooms were spacious and more importantly very CLEAN. The food was plentiful and very good quality - there was a good choice and it was easy to have something different each night. The restaurant staff were quick to tidy tables and replenish the buffet food, and always cheerfully. The drinks were local brands but vodka is vodka! I struggled to find a mixer though. The mixers were very sugary and cheap tasting, in the end we bought our own cans of diet Pepsi from the local Spar. The entertainment was full on. If you are looking for a quiet day with peace and quiet by the pool then go somewhere else. Brett and Hayley were lovely and doing a very good job but I was longing for a bit of peace and quite with no poolside music.
The weather was very sunny during the day but extremely cold in the evenings, so pack more than a cardigan.
We found all the staff to be helpful, cheerful and friendly. It was excellent value for money and I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday. We would definite come back to the Ficus.

After reading the reviews i felt i had to write a review myself. I will be staying at the Ficus for the 8th time, in 2years.
It is a 3star, and you pay 3star prices. The apartments are very clean and spacious. The complex itself is clean (when guests clear up their rubbish). Pool and poolside area cleaned daily. The staff are very friendly and speak brilliant English. I am a very fussy eater and can honestly say i always find something to eat. The theme nights are very popular too. I have been with my family and solo, the next time i am taking a friend. I would recommend anyone to give the Ficus a visit.

We have just returned from our week long holiday at the Ficus in Lanzarote & it must be said that it has been one of the most brilliant holidays we have ever been on (& that's saying something for a family who have been abroad on holiday at least 16 times in the last 15 years).
The resort of Costa Teguise itself is a nice place to holiday with plenty of shops, bars and resturaunts to splash the cash on. At this time of year it was a little quite but it's lovely if you want a nice relaxing, no fuss, no thrills holiday.
The Ficus hotel in ever-so slightly out of the way but is only about a 5 minuet walk down the road from a few shops and bars including a Spar shop and a few tourist type nick-nack shops as well as a couple of family bars. At the end of that road if you go right and walk for another 5 minuets you'll find yourselves at a few more shops and a shopping centre (more places to splash the cash). From there you can turn right again and about a 10 minuet walk from that is the main strip of shops. An alternitve way to get to these from the hotel is to just cut across a bit of waste ground across from the Ficus and your at the main strip in 5 minuets flat. If you want to venture out a little further then you can just hop onto a local bus and visit the other resorts such as Peurto del Carmen and the capital Arrecife which are just a short bus ride away.
Okay so now onto the Ficus Hotel itself:
The rooms at the Ficus are of very good size with large bathrooms with a Bath & Shower options. They all have large balconies that face into the hotel itself and overlook the pool and some also have a sea view. They also have TV's and kettles which you can hire from reception. Overall the rooms are of a nice size, kept clean and tidy and have everything you would need and want whilst your on holiday.
The hotel is kept very clean and tidy as every morning and evening the staff would wash down all paths and public areas and clean out the pool. You might find that the rooms or hotel is a little worn or shabby in places BUT whilst we were there we did witness inmprovements being made as staff were painting ect.
The staff at the hotel are very very nice, very helpful and work their absolute socks off providing you will meals, drinks ect as you will see!
The hotels food and dining service was BRILLAINT! It is on a self service basis with plenty of choice at each meal for example at Breakfast you have the option of Cereals, Fruit, Pastries & Cooked breakfasts so there will definately be something to eat at every meal. The hotel also has a themed evening meals every evening and whilst we where there they held Chinese, Thai, Itailian & Spanish evenings as well as having a Traditional Sunday Roast on Sunday. & just to make it that little but better they do cook food right infront of you so you can see that it's all done fresh. & don't worry if any of the themed isn't to your fancy as they do serve Chips, Pasta, Bread rolls and things such as this at every meal so I'm sure you wont go hungry.
The hotel is, like i've already said, a little out of the way so it's lovely and quite and perfect for relaxing around the pool, or if your a little more active, like myself, then the FANTASTIC! Thomas Cook Entertainment team (Currently Leanne & Malky for the winter season) run activities throughout the day such as games of Water Polo, Head to Head games of Darts, Pool, Jenga, Table Tennis, Volleyball and so on, which is great for both Adults and Kids. They also do a midday quiz everyday and the main event for the day is the 'Superstar' event where you can win yourselves a pretigious Superstar T-shirt and get to make a fool of yourself on stage in the evening by making a vow to the entertainment team! I realise that this might no be to everyone's taste so you don't have to join in a you can just relax around or in the pool listening to music that they play out to eveyone. In the evening the Entertainment team do a Kids Disco, a game of Bingo (which is brillaint money, when we won it was 150 euros!) and also present all the prizes to the winners of the day time activities. They then go on to the main entertainment for the night which when we were there included a Reptile Show, a Bird Show, a Circus show, a Karaoke night ect ... & on some nights, towards the end of the evening they do something for the Adults such as a Battle of the Sexes game show (which is a brilliant laugh) or a Disco.

Just had 2 weeks at the Ficus Apartments and overall it was good. This hotel is perfect if you are used to 3* AI hotels. If you are looking for anything more stick to the 4/5* hotel as you get what you pay for!!!! Food good with various themed nights....again remember its 3* not 5*!!!!
Entertainment team are brilliant - again if thats what your used to and look for when booking holiday, you wont be disappointed.....Great for the kids (and adults)
On a downside.....be prepared to be up at 6.30 - 7 am to get your place around the pool!!! sunbeds get taken very early as it gets very busy, if you dont get your towels out early enough you have had it!!!! Absolutey ridiculous!
Definately worth booking if looking for a cheapy and NOT TO FUSSY!!!!

All holidays have there good and bad points, il start with the good, me and partner took our 4 year old son here in June and it was fantastic, we all loved every minute of it. The staff and reps were very friendly, there was childrens entertainment on every day/night. Food was great, alcoholic/soft drinks available all day.
Rooms very big/clean.
Beach is great, only a ten minute walk and there was entertainment on the beach on the saturday (not sure if its every saturday)
Hotel entertainment stops at 11 but there is a bar at the end of the road called legends open till 4am, has a kids bouncy castle and soft play area open all day and night (free of charge) but they make up for the price with the drinks, spirits are 4euro each.
The small things that let it down was that the pool was freezing cold and with the weather not being great during our stay we could only let our son in the pool for 2 hours a day (it was that cold his cheeks were blue)
The pool temperature would be great with the hot weather, i think we just booked the wrong week.
Because we didnt want him in the pool all day we went out for a few hours everyday and ended up spending 400euro that we didnt plan on spending as we booked all inclusive.
If i was to go again (with children) i would take lots of crisp/sweets as a packet of crisp in the hotel it 1.50euro.
There is a spa shop at the end of the road that sells everything you need but this is also expensive.
Overall i think this holiday was a bargain, the staff couldnt do enough for us, reception also very helpful/friendly.
Hope this helps :-)

Oddly enough, the positive and negative comments posted here are both correct.
This hotel depends very much on the traveller.
If all you want is sun, a pool, food you can live on and childrens entertainment, this place is for you. The childrens entertainment extends into the evening and even though it supposed to be for adults after 9.30 (and the bingo) it doesn't raise much beyond Dik and Dom.
There isn't a great deal in the way of shops and bars in the location, but hey, you're all inclusive.
Staff extremely helpful and you're guaranteed a warm reception.
However, for the more cosmopolitan traveller, this is nothing more than Butlins with sun.
At 11 every day you are treated to 'Lets get loud' by the entertainment crew (who love the sound of their own voices) and this gives it a 'groundhog day' feeling.
The lack of somewhere to sit in the evening (ie a bar)without being subjected to the reps entertainment is a definite drawback.
Tip - take a bit of extra cash so you can get away from the place at least a couple of times during your stay.

We,ve just got back from 1 weeks stay at los ficus and we had a brill time! I cannot believe that people complain about the food, it was cooked fresh in front of you and always plenty of choice. I didn't feel the need to go out to eat once. The spanish night was good, lovely paella, The chinese night was lovely and on sunday we had a lovely roast dinner. No complaints at all.
The entertainment team are the best, big hello to Georgia, Pete and Helen. They work so hard night and day to make sure everyone has a good time, kids and adults!
All the staff are friendly and helpful, the place is very clean, overall i would recommend los ficus to anyone who wants a good, fun packed holiday!!
Make sure you go to legends and cactus jacks, we had some laughs there too.

Myself and 5 others came back from Ficus saturday 12th march 2011. And i have to say i loved it the rooms were clean, a bit basic but good. The food was lovely and plenty of it, a different theme every evening meal, Mexican, Chinese, American etc, fresh salads and fruit, different homemade soups every lunch and tea times, They did have glasses for wine and soft drinks in the resterant!! but always fresh plastic half pint cups in the bar. The entertainment was ok a few good shows, the pool was clean and only cold because the weather wasnt too hot!!. The hotel itself is a 5min walk from shops and different bars which the noise can not be heard from at night and around 10mins to the beach. I would go back tomorrow
