Villa Papas Studios

We got back form Skiathos at the weekend. We stayed in Villa papas and have no real complaints as we knew what to expect from the star rating and from reading reviews before we went there!!
The food was very nice but I myself need bigger portions so most nights we ate somewhere else. Not all the food was great as some seemed heated up and not freshly cooked, but as said in a review above The Hermes is the best place to eat.
Lovely food cooked to perfection, wide menu, brilliant, totally professional and cool staff!
I usually get hammered by mosquitoes but only got bit 3 times in two weeks; nothing a bit of cream didn’t sort! Funnily enough the only night I got bitten was the night we plug in a mossy repellent!!!!
The walk to Kolios beach is only uphill if you go the wrong way, its easier to just walk 5 mins down the road and access beach that way! If you walk over the hill you get to vrolominos beach which is great if you like crammed beaches with loud music playing, if not stick to kolios or travel about.
We hired a car for 5 days (6th day was free) and got to go wherever we wanted, whenever we wanted. We found some amazing beaches.
The main town is a nice place to spend an evening and nice to stroll round in the daytime too. If you want a day trip on a boat I would recommend the catarmaran,
if you are there just go and check it out, both my kids enjoyed it and they are 11 and 13 years old, my son said it was the best day of his holiday!
If you don’t like lounging on beaches or snorkelling, I wouldn’t go here for too long.
I will go back one day but when the kids are older as even some kids can get sick of beaches, unless you get them a decent snorkel.
The self catering utensils are a bit dire; there just isn’t a useful utensil in the drawer.
You learn to suss the shower out and none of us got scalded, or even close.
No complaints about the cleanliness of the apartment, but I think the sheets were changed once in two weeks, which personally didn’t bother me as I have contracted no illness or disease because of it!
I think if you want high quality and all that goes with it then book a five star hotel!!
This place is a laid back place to stay and we got our moneys worth.

Having travelled to various destinations in Spain, once to Turkey and Arilas & Kos in Greece, was very disappointed with this holiday.
Asked for lower ground apartment (2 bedroom) was given number 1 which is up 3/4 lots of steep stairs. The apartment on arrival was clean but for 3 adults small although advertised 3/5 people. No privacy and after initial clean was swept once in 14 days.
They must have come in and changed towels (which are hand towels and very hard) and cleaned sink once, as they used our cleaning stuff and left it in shower room, please do not take children here the shower literally goes from cold to scalding on/off all the time.
The stairs are not safe for them and there really is nothing for them apart from the beach, which admittedly is very nice, Kolios not the other one as this is about 1/2 hour uphill walk.
Prob most expensive holiday we've had, food nearly always cold or just about warm, but go across the road up another hill to Hermes at rear of supermarket, lovely food reasonable price great staff and great laugh at karaoke with Vicky on Mondays.
Not really anything else to do if you get taxis which are cheap enough, flag one down as a lot cheaper if you ring one they double the fair.
Sorry if this all sounds negative but its true facts, Skiathos worth a visit along harbour lovely, thankfully great weather.
The Admiral Bodmin bar plays great 60s etc music if you want any sort of night life don’t go Skiathos nice scenery but everything is uphill.
Only good thing was we were so high up in apartments got the sun till 8/9pm.
Would I visit Skiathos again? No. Stay at Villa Papas? No, but Martha was lovely and Christos started off fine but think he lost heart and couldn’t be bothered as he had no new guests booked in for 2 weeks, only 8 adults 2 kids there including us 3.

We have just booked to go back to the Villa Papas apartments for our fifth time.
Absolutely love it there. The owners Christos and Martha cannot do enough for you and make you feel so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble.
The apartments are basic, but cleaned beautifully every day by the lovely Lutmilla.
The taverna offers a wide range of food and Martha is always willing to cook whatever you want, even if not on the menu. Can't wait until we return.

Lovely island lovely beaches nearby. Unfortuneately Villa Papos leaves much to be desired.
The apartment was filthy, big black damp stains all over the walls, exposed wiring, a shower with a missing wall hook for the shower head.
We requested on our 1st day of 14 day for a new bedside lamp bulb and a shower holder but we never got them.
Also the place is swarming with mosquito's in the evening, I normally just get a few bites but in this place I was eaten alive as was everyone else.
All in all I would return to Skiathos but would not stay in this place again if you paid me.

Great location, easy walk to 3 beaches; Kolios(my favourite, good for young children), Nostos (where you get the water taxi from!) and Vromolinmos (local young trendy beach!).Bus stop, which is main way of getting around island, is across the road, as is supermarket. Tavernas are close by, just walk up and down the main road, take care though no path!
Villa Papas provides basic kitchenette, showers could do with some updating. Be aware in month of August very hot at night, and there is no air-conditioning! Family owners where absolutely lovely, couldn't do enough for my young children! Food at Villa Papas was great and again would make anything I asked for the children. We had a great holiday, Skiathos is lovely, not too unspoiled by tourism!

The villa papas apartments are in a great location, 5 mins from kolios beach and 5 mins from Nostos beach, set on the main road into town, the apartments are basic but clean and the owners christos and Martha are very friendly, there is also a taverna attached which has some delicious dishes, there is a small pool with plenty of sunbeds and a pool bar at very reasonable prices, opposite is a supermarket selling most thing you would need. there is a bus stop just outside which will take you to anywhere from koukanaries to Skiathos town its 1 euro and takes 10 mins, I would definitely recommend the villa papas apartments and would stay there next time I am lucky enough to visit this lovely island .
