Hotel Don Bigote

Where do I start?
Having been going to Magaluf for many years I love the place, but I have never stayed in such a badly run hotel. Not being able to get into our usual hotel forced us to book somewhere else. Big mistake... For starters the reception staff are rude, un-helpful and having spoken to other people on the holiday ref the staff, they generally don’t like the Brits.
Having put our maid service sign on the door before turning in for the night, we were awoken not just once, but three times by maids coming into the room to attempt to change towels and make beds etc. Having told them I put the red sign on the door they went into a barrage of shouting in Spanish and I did get some words and then she slammed the door on the way out.
The following day we were wise to the disregard for the door signs so we put the bolt on the door along with the lock. This only angered them more, having waked us by putting their key in and trying to push the door we said "not today thank you" but no she kicked the door and again started shouting in Spanish. This is not acceptable!
Coupled with that is their need to shout at each other from each end of the corridor. It clearly says on the information boards to keep noise to a minimum. Are they not included in these simple courteous rules of hotels?
When we go away we understand that the pubs/ clubs are for the partying and not the hotel corridor. This was not the case with other groups. Groups of drunken young lads shouting, swearing and causing upset to other guests, who along with us, complained but nothing happened.
Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else. There are a lot better places to stay.
I for one, along with the rest of my party, will not be staying there again.

Hotel was in a great location the beach is just across the road which was great. A very clean hotel with small rooms but if you grab a bargain deal then its ideal.
There was not a great selection of food in the evening but they always had chips and plenty ice cream. The bar staff were very cheeky and tried to say we didn’t pay for our drinks when we did.
The pool area was very clean and the pool was cleaned every day, plenty of sun beds until about 11-12 noon. We found the poolside area was getting rather busy and crowded in the afternoons especially in our last few days.
Hotel was good would maybe go back if the price was cheap again. On the whole a great resort with plenty of good shops bars and restaurants nearby.

I found the Don Bigote very clean and basic. Maid service every day which was amazing (I had my room in a state and maids tided up every day).
As for the staff the bar staff were pleasant and friendly but the woman on reception never cracked a smile or wouldn't say hello to you.
Food was really nice at breakfast there was something for everyone to eat such as toast, cereal, fried breakfast etc. Also the dinners were really nice with a wide variety of food and desserts (which I loved).
A short walk around to Banna Joes for an amazing night good Dj, but watch out for the Pr's.
Only visit this hotel if you’re up for some noisy nights from May till Oct its full of stag and hen parties and the young, usually used by older people in the Oct - March seasons.
I would recommend it to all but make sure you go at the right time of year for your age.

Just come back from 7 nights at the Don Bigote with 9 lads aged 18-21.
This hotel was in an excellent location just 2 mins from Palma Nova beach and 5 mins walk to the centre of Magaluf.
The food was better than expected and the rooms were pretty basic but more than adequate and were cleaned everyday!
There was a lot of young people staying here so it did get abit loud at times but security would come and tell you to keep the noise down especially at 5am!
Would stay again at the Don Bigote.

What can I say about this hotel....... hmmm.
Good points - well it had 4 walls and a roof and a clean pool.
Bad Points - Where do I start?
Me and my two mates went for 2 weeks half board, the room, what a joke, I’ve seen bigger rabbit hutches, there was just enough room to open the door to the room and patio and then walk the tightrope sized space in between to get through from room to balcony, which was incidentally about 6 feet long and 3 feet wide.
One, tiny cupboard to store 3 lots of gear, hence storing our bags on the balcony, the bathroom was minute and dirty and we had to literally bug the maids to death just to get replacement towels.
If you want to take somebody back to your room you might as well forget it because attila the Hun is on the door and follows everybody to their rooms, we went into the room of a group of girls for a few drinks and what not, before we even sat down this guy banged on the door and demanded that we leave the hotel!!!
We then had to sit outside for an hour while we apparently learned how to behave!! Oh and by the way we are all in our early thirties so were not kids!
Despite putting do not disturb on our door every night the maids opened the door to wake us about every hour from 9, which was not much fun when you don't get in till 6am!
The staff were basically rude, unpleasant and unhelpful, for some reason the menu only seemed to contain chips and mash and poor attempts at English and other dishes, I think there were 2 nights out of 14 where the meals were passable and after discussing with other guests these would appear to be the nights that the people who audit the menus were visiting.
It was a 5 minute walk to the beach which was clean but the water was absolutely disgusting, however 10 minutes drive up to illetas the beach was absolutely beautiful and the water was clean.
Anybody who gives this hotel and holiday experience anything over a 3 must be happy at staying in worse accommodation than a hostel, for a 3 star I didn't expect anything spectacular but what we got was really just a one star.
Shan't b going back to this dump again - Ever!
PS. The nightlife is great in Magalluf mainly but the touts get right on your nerves, they don't like to be told no and have a tendency to resort to insults when you don’t do what they want - nice! Just ignore them completely and they soon get the picture!

Very good price quality ratio. We only paid 16 Euros a night, the same as the breakfast and dinner!
Very close to the beach, good view, clean rooms, good service! Excellent for a 3 star hotel!
Bus stop close to the hotel, as well as some shops, bars and supermarkets. Good facilities like car rental and internet service, swimming pool and garden were ok!
Price of a beer quite reasonable.

Excellent value for money, £10 each per night half board. Good location in Palma Nova.
Bit tatty but very clean, smelt of chlorine. My only complaint is the off hand, ignorant staff. Lovely pool area and excellent evening meals.
Palma Nova is nice resort with a lovely beach and for nightlife Banana Joes on the corner is a brilliant disco bar with an excellent DJ.
BCM in Magaluf, the second largest nightclub in Europe, is definitely worth a visit or two! 18 Euros to get in & free drinks all night till 6 in the morning when it closes. If you go before 12 you usually get some brill free gifts, t-shirts, bags & baseball caps etc.
Fabulous weekend away, we will be returning very very soon but not necessarily to Don Bigote.
Although the price may just tempt me again.

Loved the hotel it was great. We went in a group of singles and couples all under 20 and had great time. Chilled in the day and loved the nightlife in Magaluf.
The rooms were good cleaned every day. We went in a large group and booked at different times, so we didn’t all stay in this hotel, only about 10 of us.
The others stayed in the Palma Nova Palace and some in Torrenova and they said it was full of toddlers running round their feet.
Stay at the Don, it’s the biz - have a nice time.

I have been to Don Bigote hotel for the past 2 years. The first year we went was in June the 2nd year was in July.
The first year was really good the food,staff and everything else was good. Then on the 2nd year it wasn't good. The food was bad and half the time they gave us the same food or left over food from the day before. The salmon was the same every day.
Also, there was a lot of noise and disturbance at night from other guests and security never did much to solve it. Our door got chapped every night until we were up and people kept ringing our room phone.
I was very disappointed because the first year we went was really good.

This was my second time going to this hotel and will definitely be going again. The hotel is very clean and the maids clean the room everyday.
The pool is lovely and always clean. The hotel staff are very helpful another brill thing is the beach is less than 2 mins away and they are lots of shops.
For any 1 going to Palma Nova I would recommend you stay in the Don Bigote and take a trip to Magaluf which is a 5 min walk and go to the BCM. I will definitely go back in the summer.
