The hotel was described in our Guide Book as the most contemporary hotel in edinburgh and we paid accordingly for a two night stay expecting it to be very clean and trendy & modern in style. We were very dissapointed as the hotel was cheaply modernised & failed in its attempt at being a trendy art hotel. The lighting was low and fluorescent but it didnt hide the scuffed and marked paintwork on the walls in the corridors. The carpets were dirty. The room was narrow but adequate & the bed was a very decent size but the bedding was cheap and the room not so clean. The bathroom was dated and worn. Again the walls painted white were heavily marked. The bar would have been nice if again it wasnt looking so worn and tatty. But definately the reception bar and restaurant were the best parts of the hotel the rest was very forgettable. The location is not bad but we could have been more central for the money we paid.
Wont be going back.

I recently visited jamaica for my honeymoon and unfortunatley stayed at Point Village.
The hotel was very basic, great for backpackers i feel and not honeymooners or families as the hedonism hotel was next door and didnt leave much to the imagination.
The food was basic buffet with some traditional jamaican dishes to be offered.
The pool was not worth a visit, quite dirty and the jacuzzi was never available to use, my husband also picked up an ear infection we believe from the pool.
The hotel entertainment was terrible, we spent most of the evenings in front of the telly in the room, as the only bar in the hotel never had any guest's drinking at it.
We asked to be moved by the 5th day of our 2 week holiday as we didnt want our honeymoon memory filled with cockroaches, bed bugs and nude beaches!.
I wouldnt recomment this hotel to anyone.

Fab holiday - don’t let other peoples reviews put you off. I was in two minds myself but went anyway and had a great time.
Great family beach, great food, rum continually flowing. We had a 1 bed apt and it was huge, and cleaned every day spotlessly, very hygienic and nobody there fell ill.
All I had a problem with were the people from Hedonism who liked to be very intimate but the security did make them leave when they had to.
All in all the best holiday we have had and will be returning again. To all those people who complained don’t book at 3 star prices if you want 5 star.

Nice complex at the far end of Negril, we travelled with a one year old and found the staff to be very accommodating and helpful with this.
Nice food, particularly if you like to try traditional Jamaican dishes, found that people who didn’t like this option did struggle to find food that they liked (but not us).
We didn’t go on the excursions offered by our travel company, but rather trusted the taxi drivers at the hotel and found that we went to better places and far cheaper this way. Basic rooms, but clean and tidy. Not particularly overcrowded, well maintained grounds.
Had a nice holiday on a relatively small budget.

My husband and I took our two children (aged 11 and 8) to Jamaica for two weeks.
The hotel was quite tired looking with missing floor tiles and peeling paint but the room was clean. We hadn't booked a sea-view but the majority of the rooms look over the sea which was great.
The rooms are cleaned every day but at odd times - one evening we had towels delivered at 10pm.
The double beds are very small and as my husband is 6'2" it was very uncomfortable and we did not sleep very well. The children had to share a bed too and this was not ideal.
The food is okay but after two weeks it was a bit boring. The service was okay although some of the staff are quite rude and don't seem to want to serve you.
They seem to want tips all the time which is probably due to the amount of American's that are there and will tip, even when they get bad service.
The beach at the hotel is great, perfect for the children as it is very safe.
The glass bottom boat goes out twice a day and is included in the all inclusive package, as is the use of snorkels and fins. We found it very expensive as all the trips out of the resort wanted us to pay full price for the children.
We went to Rick's Cafe which we would all recommend - although you don't need to do a tour, the Cafe will pick you up from your hotel for free and take you back for $7(£3.50) each which is a lot cheaper than the tour company can do it for.
We had wanted to do the trip to see the Dolphin's but this would have cost about $1000 (£500) for the four of us, it is a four hour drive from our hotel and we decided it was too expensive and too far, the trip also included a visit to Dunn's River Falls, but one family who went on this trip said that you have to go up in a line.
As we went in June and this is during the rainy season we did see quite a few storms but this wasn't a problem as when the sun did come out it was very, very hot.
The entertainment wasn't very good, things like bingo, talent competitions etc.
We felt they could have done more with the beach, maybe proper beach bbq's, dancing on the sand and that sort of thing. The restaurants are not air-conditioned and the heat is quite oppressive and took a lot of getting used to.
We liked the location of the resort and Negril itself has a fantastic beach with the most beautiful white powder sand.

I visited Point Village and spent 3 weeks there. I found the food wonderful because I enjoy caribbean food, the staff are most helpful and accommadating, the room apart while basic was clean amd comfortable, the garden where well kept and the sea and surf was just what wanted. I did not feel threatened when I went at night to the various beach parties in fact everyone was caring and helpful.
It is people who pay for a reasonable priced holiday and expect the Hilton that moan. Please put Point Village back were it belongs - in the holiday brochures and let us go back there - cos its brilliant.
