Sandy Villas Reviews
" Sandy's Villa "
Submitted By: gruffaloThe location is good too as it is a couple of hundred yards from the centre of Perissa so it is very easy to walk out to some very good restaurants and the beach, but the hotel itself is very quiet.
Sandy herself is lovely. Admmitedly she does charge for fans and safety deposit boxes, but the place is so cheap it seems fair. Or pack your own fan! It is a real family run place and they cannot do enough for you.
Every week Sandy does a barbie aound the pool for fifteen euro.
The food is great and you get wine as well!
We hired a quad bike for 25 euro for two days and explored the island. The holiday rep does not advise this but we got one from Mark's bikes just along the road from Sandy's.
All in all we had a great time and will be returning for another relaxing break.
Advice: Perissa is relaxed and fun with lots of restaurents and bars.
Activities: The views of the caldera from various locations around the island are breathtaking.

" Faulty Towers "
Submitted By: peter.jones@bassetsdesign.co.ukWe were put in a dungeon below ground which was very small and had poor ventilation.
The owner was very good at extracting as much money as possible from people. For example, on our last day she said we could use the room for an extra two hours for an extra 20 euros. She also wanted a similar amount for a fan - even though we were in room 13 the dungeon.
Santorini as a whole was expensive with coffees costing as much as 4 euros in some towns. The beeches were dirty and poor for swimming from and there isn't a great deal to see on the island because it is so small. There are much better Greek islands to see than this one, such as Crete and Kafalonia. The main attraction on Santorina is Oia with its blue domes and white buildings and the so-called volcanno which really isn't worth the trip and cost to another very small island with little on it.
Advice: Location is OK. Beaches on Santorini are poor - dirty and down market
Activities: Quad bikes are cheap and good to get around on

" Sandy Villas, Perissa "
Submitted By: adavis22The pool is very good, and there is always a breeze to cool you, be careful though the breeze can make if feel cooler thatn it is.
Sandys family are amazing, Young Manolis is always smiling, Lefkeris is very hard working and Vangelis is amazing, only 7 but already speaks passable english. Be careful though, if Vangelis becomes your freind during your stay, you will have to deal with floods of tears when you leave, as you will with Sandy.
Sandys husband, Big Manolis, seems quiet at first, but is a real Laugh, and atypical Greek "mans man" after a few drinks.
The weekly BBQ is Greek style so don't expect burgers and sausages, the is however more food than you can shake a stick at.
The rooms are clean and tidy, in high season you WILL need a fan, and safes are always a good idea.
We will return in 2009
Advice: Quiet during the day, Lively at night in high season and many excellent tavernas and resturants
Activities: Gods Garden, Atlas for English breakfast, Dorians for nice atmosphere and coctails

" the best hotel i have visited till now "
Submitted By: anglel4We booked in Sandy Villas as many friends tell us that this place is amazing. So when we arrive outside we saw the manager (Sandy) and she gave to as so useful informations.
The hotel is so brilliant, we got room 22 and it was so spacious as i have never seen in other hotel. The swimming pool is extremely large and i think it may be one of the largest in santorini. Around the pool there are plenty of trees which make brilliant atmosfaire and you may think that you are in a palace. In the pool bar they provide the best beer Mythos and all the people say (yamas!) which mean chears. The food they make are of the best I have ever taste that's and the reason we booked twice at the BBQ which is organised once a week.Sandy is really helpful staff who can make you feel happy and smile all the time!!! Finally I would like to say that the reps were also very helpful, I think they called Sammy and Zoe who describe the island to us.
We will go back to Sandy Villas as possible we can!!!!!

" Never !! go Here......... "
Submitted By: tomibbitson@hotmail.comI have an everlasting impression of greeks...thats why i married one.
But after my last week of the season visit to Sandy Villa apartments in Perissa on the island of Santorini i probably think a visit to Turkey is more suitable.
The apartments were dirty, cutlery rusty, a sink that stank.
And an owner wanting to squeeze as much money out of you....but also wishing you were not there.
No service ...No smiles....
I have never been to such a dirty place in my life !
I would never ever advise anyone to go to this dire place.

" Positive:
Nice clean... "
Nice clean rooms, lovely, clean pool and clean area (both pool and bar). Ideally situated, far enough away from the main bit where the bars and restaurants to be quiet but close enough to be able to stroll there of an evening. Was also very good of Sandy to come round and personally welcome us to the apartments. She did make us feel very welcome though and when our boat trip got cancelled on the Monday due to the weather (which was disappointing because it was my birthday), she did her best to get us happy and cheery.
Negative:
Sandy is a very good at making money and keeping it! During our welcome, she asked us if we wanted fan, safe and water - then held out her hand for the 38 euros. We were expecting to pay this having read reviews elsewhere, but at least let us unpack. A fan arrived and I think it would have been more efficient to hire someone to fan us, the fan even on full speed blew as much as a blow as a fly's fart! There were no mosquito screens so we had to have the shutters closed as we were on the ground floor and this made the room quite stuffy. The food and drink was quite expensive for what you got ie snack, wine etc and the Barbecue Night we felt was a bit of a rip off. 16 Euros each and it was billed as a traditional Greek BBQ night - it consisted of Greek Salad, Chips, Dolmades, Tomatoballs, Tzatziki and burnt Souvlaki, we think it might have been pork! No other meats. Oh and a litre carafe of wine between 4. 22 people paying 16 Euros ahead with that sort of fare - no wonder Sandy was happy the next day. We didn't like to risk asking if we could have some toilet roll when they didn't replace the empty rolls saying it would probably be 2 Euros a roll. Instead we nipped down to the local supermarket and bought a couple of rolls ourselves.
Towels - now we were only the for one week and heard that most people got their towles changed each day, however, we were not told that to have them changed, we had to leave them on the bed. We like most people hung them up which meant they couldn't get changed. Just as well really that we didn't leave our wet towels on the bed as the didn't change the bottom sheet once while we were there.

Submitted By: Mrs S A MavinSandy herself welcomed guests as they arrived and there was a welcome party at lunchtime the day after arrival for those who wished to attend. Fans and a safe were available and we were charged 35 euros for one fan and the safe. This seemed reasonable. Sandy came personally to invite us to the weekly Greek night that she holds.
Our Olympic Holidays rep., Vicki, put the information pack under our door as we didn't attend the welcome party and this proved very useful.
The one thing that I did find off putting was the notice that told guests not to bring their own food or drink to the pool area.
Of the area, I would say that it is both quiet and lively, depending on which part you are in.
We visted Fira, which is the capital of Santorini. For this reason it is quite a busy place but there are quiet places to stroll around which are away from all the shops. There are organised trips to various places on the island and if you want to visit the volcano this is the only way you will get there. But be warned, if you go to Oia at the end of the volcano trip, there are only two ways up from the port. Mule or on foot. It is quite a hike up the cliff and my advice would be to ensure that you are wearing adequate footware, wear a hat and have plenty of drinking water. It's worth it once you get to the top. Oia is stunning and watching the sunset is quite beautiful. Oia is also a lovely place to walk around in it's own right and worth a trip just for that.
All in all it was a lovely holiday and I would recommend Sandy's Villas which is overlooked by Mesa Vouno which I found quite stunning, especially in the early morning when the sun appeared from behind it.

" there is a lovely pool area...
sandy obviously splashed out for the pool area..
probably explains the high prices for the food and drinks!!
rooms are boiling, you definitely need a fan.
lots of ants in the room..plus a few hidden spiders in the cupboards!
cleaned everyday except sunday, towels changed twice.
shower and kitchen facilities weren't fantastic.
rooms extremely basic.
but thats just a typical greek holiday!
overall, we did have a lovely time.
can't really grumble when we payed as little as we did!
definitely advise the volcano, hot springs and sunset trip.
and the forum on the beach front serves a fantastic carbonara!!
