Worst thing that hit us on entering the Reception area was an owerpowering smell of sewage. Staff did not acknowledge that there was a smell but other hotel guests were complaining about this.
If I was on my own, I would have walked out to another hotel as the smell was absolutely appalling.
Hotel was obviously a budget hotel - small size of bedrooms, no toiletries (ie small bottle of shampoo would have been good), no tea/coffee making facilities etc.
Only good thing about this hotel was its location as it was 'central' to Bruges. There was a Novatel opposite and I would book to stay here.

Found excellent rates on Eurostar - £29.50 each way to Bruges from Waterloo (you have to book 14 days in advance to receive these fares)
Ibis Centrum hotel, situated in the centre of Bruges, were also doing a special offer of 65 Euros per room per night. The hotel was basic but clean and comfortable - really good value for its location.
Bruges is a beautiful place - if you like architecture, good food and drink, good shopping (both fashion and nik naks) and somewhere to chill out - this is the place.
I’d also like to recommend an Argentinean Restaurant called El Churrasco situated at 76 Vlamingstraat - nothing posh but a cosy restaurant that serves the best cooked genuine Argentinean steak I’ve ever tasted and try the empanadas for starter - delicious.

Bruges hotels can be very expensive, so imagine our delight when we snapped this one up for just under £40 (it’s a lot dearer in high season).
The hotel is in an old building, which has been thoroughly modernised, and is well situated in the historic old town of Bruges. In fact, it’s only a few minutes stroll from the Grand Place and all its attractions. Although the hotel is central, it’s in a quiet courtyard and so there wasn’t much noise to bother us.
Ibis hotels tend to be pretty standard, and this one was no different. We had a twin bedded room with plenty of storage space and an en-suite toilet with bath - both were in good decorative repair and were spotless. The TV had around 30 channels, with the main British terrestrial channels being available too - no need to miss Corrie!
We didn’t use the restaurant in the hotel, but it looked nice enough and the bar had a good selection of nice beers.
All in all, this hotel is a good choice for those looking for a centrally situated hotel in Bruges without breaking the bank.
