Pleasant budget accommodation
7 / 10
Aug 2011, lonewayfarer

Rose Studios is a pleasant set of family run self-catering studio apartments to sleep 2 or 3 people. The rooms are basic and contain a fridge/freezer and an electric cooking hob. There is also an ensuite room with toilet and wet-room style shower. Rooms have 2 or 3 single beds. There is air-conditioning available at an additional charge of 40 euros per week. Temperatures can easily reach 30-40 celcius, so the aircon is recommended.
The room we stayed in required various minor repairs. The fridge worked properly but it had a broken handle and buzzed unless something was placed in the freezer compartment. The door on the shower room did not close properly and the air conditioning had some intermittent problems when it leaked water twice during our stay. Despite this, the room was functional and the beds were comfortable. For us it was really only a place to sleep or sit out on the balcony. The room was on par with other self-catering rooms I have stayed in various Greek islands.
In front of the studios, there is a large clean pool that is cleaned nightly. There are plenty of sun loungers available. All staff are members of three families that run the studios. Everyone was extremely helpful and polite, especially Mike. They gave good advice about the best places to visit, eat and drink. Food and drink is served throughout the day and night at the studios. There is a range of alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, breakfasts and snacks served. Mike happily made us a sandwich in the early hours of the morning!
There is a nice shaded seating area adjacent to the pool. Inside near the bar, there is a soft seating area which is air-conditioned. Two pay-as-you-go computers are available for Internet access.
The studios are located about 15 minutes walk from the top of bar street (20 minutes to the centre of Faliraki and beach area). Other bars, restaurants and a supermarket are within 5-10 minutes. This distance means that the studios are generally quiet at night, although there was some noise from other guests as they returned back to the studios after a night out.
Faliraki is a resort with a reputation for a party nightlife, so I wouldn't recommend these studios for families. Lindos or Rhodes town are much quieter places. If you want total peace and relaxation, try Symi island.
Most of the guests at Rose Studios were young people who were sunbathing in the day and going out at night. The studios are quieter than those ones located near the centre but still can be noisy at night. These studios are ideally suited to people who want basic accommodation on a budget and who won't be spending so much time in the room.
In conclusion, staying at Rose Studios was a pleasant experience with the odd hiccup that ensured I had plenty of stories to tell when I got back home.

good value, great pool , lovely holiday

I was very glad that we had read previous reviews, as we went very well prepared for the self catering, and managed easily to prepare cooked breakfasts and snack lunches. We had travel kettles purchased in Turkey from previous holidays, and these were invaluable.
The pool was lovely, lots of sun loungers, and the kids pool very good. Bar/eating area, fine, and the staff friendly enough.
Initial impression of the room was pretty favouable, and the 2 problems (leaky shower and broken toilet roll holder) were dealt with very promptly when mentioned to our rep, Hollie.
Unfortunately there were real problems with the cleaning. We understood that the hotel were using agency cleaners, who were not good. We took our rubbish to the bin by the pool, as emptying bins did not seem to be on the agenda, and I swept the room myself on a couple of occaisions when the cleaner left her equipment outside the rooms (Necessary when you are preparing food in your room)
Our rep, Hollie was brilliant. She was always there when she should have been and was very quick to sort out things. Her quick response saved another guests child who feel in the pool- yes it was Hollie who jumped in to the rescue. She was both professional and friendly. Olympic holidays take note- she is a very good ambassador for you!
We liked the area very much. The hotel was nice and quiet, and child friendly. The local shop very nice, and Thomas's bar down the road became our second home. With free ice creams, playstation, Wii, internet and karaoke, the kids loved the place.
We ate at different restaurants every night, with meals costing 12-15 euros with drink, and enjoyed them all.
So, if you want a budget holiday in a nice quiet area with a lovely pool, but plenty to do in the evenings, this is the place for you.

My fiancee and I stayed at the Rose studios for a week. It is very nicely located off a quite enough road so it wasn't over looked and private. At night there was no road noise what so ever. The staff at the Rose were very welcoming and couldn't do enough. They also suggesting what beaches were the best to visit etc during the holiday at times when we got chatting although a few of the older staff don't speak much English so just be a bit patient.
I found the rooms basic but what is needed. They were bright, airy and very comfortable. The balcony is a good size and ours was over looking the pool with gorgeous views as its slightly up on a hill. We didn't bother using the small kitchenette and didn't plan to either.
One piece of advice is don't leave the balcony door open in the late evenings / night with the lights on as mosquitoes will eventually make their way in. I got some nasty bites but didn't let that put me off my holiday. Just invest in a good plug in repellent and wear gel or spray repellent at night / evenings.
The food was average but we mostly ate in the town which is a 15-20 min walk away.
The pool is a good size with lots of sun loungers to choose from.
Overall I would definitely recommend this place!
The waterpark is a must place to visit! Definitely recommend going and is only about a 15-20mins drive away from the apartments!

Amazing

Rose Studios is awesome. I went with two other lads (mid 20's). The studios have a wide range of people staying there. In the week I was there I spoke to three retired couples, four sets of younger couples, two (large) familes of three generations, small groups of girls, one large group of lads and other smaller groups of lads. I think this is because it is far enough out of the centre to avoid any problems but close enough to stroll into town within 15 minutes. Perfect for us. Taxis are 5euros too which is good.
The rooms are basic as you would expect but they are very clean, bright and nice. All have large balconies and half of them overlook the outdoor pool. The Outdoor Pool is large, often busy but there are so many loungers and pool space it isnt an issue. In fact it is very easy to make friends in and around the pool and everybody seems to be having a nice time.
There is a 24 hour bar which is pretty d**n good and when you get back off a night out there are usually a few people still up chatting. The night shift worker usually has a kip if there is no one to serve but if you really want a drink just wake him up and is always happy to sort you out.
The food isnt great at the hotel but its kind of a means to an end. You should really venture out and go to the centre for food as the food is awesome down there. If you want closer then go to Mikes Bar ont he way to the centre, they do awesome pasta and pizzas and most places will fill you up for ten euros.
The BBQ at the hotel on Tuesday is definitely worth going to. It is 10 euros for pretty much all you can eat. I guarantee you couldnt eat more than a plateful though. Worth the money and the families who own the hotel spend all day cooking the food. We played Bingo afterwards but I heard some weeks they have quizzes etc. Really good atmosphere.
Mike, one of the owners, is a legend. Very funny, very nice and always smiling. His dad is always smiling too but cannot speak much English. Definitely get to know them, he will introduce himself anyway. The other owners are all pleasant and if you have a problem they will sort it out. Just bear in mind that everyone is so relaxed out in Greece so what normally takes two minutes in England might take five minutes to sort out in Greece. Just accept it and relax yourself.
Places to go in the centre: Steak Out restaurant do amazing steaks and even better MASSIVE ribs. A full rack for ten euros and you get free starters, a free shot etc.
For drinks go to KJB for all you can drink cocktails for one hour for 10euro. Two for 20euros etc. Go to Underground Bar on Club Street, very good atmosphere, karaoke on every night, they give free food away if you sing and they also have an all you can drink three hour bar (cocktails and spirit/mixers) for 20euros.
Ive heard the water park is awesome too, definitely recommend that. Go on the organised Bar Crawls with your holiday rep to get used to the place, meet people etc, I wouldnt recommend much else they try and throw at you though as you can get most of it a lot cheaper.
AWESOME HOTEL

We have just returned from Rose studios from a week's holiday. There was six of us grandparents, parents and children. Rose studios are basic but we have been to Greece many times and know what to expect. The family who ran the Rose were lovely and friendly. The rooms are very large. The rooms facing the pool have some great views, lovely for sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine before hitting the town. The pool was great, children's pool was perfect for the little one's. There was always tons of free sunbeds no matter what time you got to the pool. The only draw back is there is a plastic roof on the studios so the top floor was like a sauna, very uncomfortable. The noise within the building was very bad the week we stayed lot's and lot's of door slamming all times of the day and night, so if you would like a nice peaceful time this may not be the place for you or we may have just been very unlucky, that the week we picked they were all practicing for a door slamming competition. As other people have said in other reviews Thomas bar and Mike's bar are brilliant on the road as you walk down to the front, both do cracking english breakfast, but Thomas bar included a mug of tea or coffee in the price, full english was 5 euro 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms, hash brown, toast, and tea or coffee. Faliraki itself has changed a lot in the 9 years since we last went, lots of bars, shops and accommodation have disappeared. All in all it was a great last minute family break.

Hello! I've just come back from a week long stay at the Rose Studios in Faliraki. This was the first time I have stayed here - my boyfriend had recommended the Rose Studios as he has been here lots of times before - and I'm so glad we did!
The family who own and run the Rose Studios are so friendly - nothing is too much trouble for them. They are genuinely decent people who made me feel really welcome.
The pool area is lovely, with sun loungers, umbrellas and a decent sized pool that was kept clean. The rooms were spotless when we arrived and were cleaned thoroughly every two days.
The rooms are basic but very comfortable and have everything in them that we needed. Air conditioning was an extra 40 euros but was worth every penny! There are hobs that can be used for cooking, but we didn't use them as you can buy cooked food at the hotel. One of the things I liked was that there were healthier foods on their menu like omelettes and rolls and salads as well as pizzas and fry ups e.t.c, so both me and my boyfriend got what we wanted for breakfast! The cocktails at the hotel are at least one euro cheaper than those on Bar street, so it's a good place to start drinking too!
I've given the Rose studios a 10. It was clean, comfortable and exactly as described, but more so than this, I haven't stayed anywhere before that is this welcoming! I thought it was excellent value for money, and loved every minute of being both in the hotel and out in Faliraki. I've read other reviews on here that comment on the friendliness of the staff too. I will definately be booking my holiday here for next year, I can't wait to go back!
((P.s. Dont drink water from the taps as it's not very nice in Rhodes - they sell big bottles of chilled mineral water at the hotel for just one euro each. AND... if you need a pharmacy, ask someone at the hotel to recommend somewhere to go. I went to a Pharmacy on the main road near the Desert Rose Restaurant and the bloke overcharged me by abou 12 quid! Avoid him!!!!!))
Happy Holidays!! :)
Liz

went to the rose studios on the 17th of july 2010, booked it over the phone and got told by the travel agent it was a four star on the beach and directly in front of the clubs LIES. When we got to the rose me and my two friends was a bit wary as it looked nothing like the photos we had been shown. as soon as we walked into reception it stunk of grease. the boss gave us our room key and we went into the room it was dark, dingy, dirty ect, We then went back to reception desk asked if we could move rooms the man was more than happy to change us, To our shock the room was worse 3 dead cockroaches, hair, fake tan, dead flies on the bed and the door looked like a bedroom had poxy lock (for 3 young girls it wasnt nice) with overall filthy.Even a group of lads there was told the exact info we was eg 4 star on beach... We had to wait 10 hours to find out if we could mov hotels in the end we did move hotels for 130 euros which i thought was discusting that we had to pay even though we was MISSOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!! overall bad holiday, got really messed around atart to finish. would not reccomend it to my worst enemy

Great Holiday
4 / 10
Jul 2009, Louisa24

Just returned from Faliraki, Rhodes. Had a great holiday, travelled the whole island. I loved Rhodes but would never stay in Faliraki again. We were two couples that went looking for nice restaurants, beach, something to do at night with a bit of night life if we wanted it. Olympic holidays recommended we stay at Rose Studios that were just out of town. Everything has shut down near Rose Studios and a lot of Faliraki has become derilict. It is about a 20 minute walk into the centre and about 5-10 minutes to the nearest supermarket. The pool area was nice and the apartment very clean but basic. The third floor is a glass roof which obviously is ideal in hot weather conditions....So this became rather like a greenhouse and therefore we had no choice but to get air conditioning at 40 euros a week! This takes about an hour before it actually cools your room down. There are no bins in the apartments, and you definately couldn't cater for yourself with the utensils they provided. I guess thats what you get for 300 quid though.
We really enjoyed the food in Rhodes, Faliraki has some great eating places. Thomas bar is on the way down from the studios- really good fun, friendly and they have talking parrots which kept me entertained for hours!
Olympic holidays charge 116 euro for a hire car, we went in the first place we found and got a car for two days for 60 euro between four. We travelled to Rhodes Old Town, Lindos, Ostrich Farm and also visited one of the world wonders were the Aegean and Mediterrean meet. If you like wind surfing this is the place to go.
All in all, a really good holiday - although i will add about Rose studios that we caught them routing through the safety deposit boxes and they tried to charge us twice for air conditioning...ask for a receipt! And we saw a rat! But I guess you could get that anywhere. I would recommend Rose Studios for anyone looking for cheap accomodation for a clubbing holiday.

We went to the Rose Studios in Faliraki on 8th July 2009 for a week.
We arrived at the Rose around 3am and the guy there was awaiting his delivery of Fresh Bread! He made Bacon Sandwiches all round!! - How fab is that!!!
The accommodation is really basic but exceptionally clean!
You wouldn't really be able to cook in the studios as there is only a hot plate thing to use! At least the fridge continued to work whilst you were out of the room!!! The Aircon cost 40 euros per week, but it was really needed! The Pool area was fab! Plenty of room and lots on sunbeds to use!
The owners were also great! Anything you needed, they were always happy to help! Nothing was a problem!
Although the details of this accommodation say that the Studios are situated on a hillside, don't be put off! It is a 10 - 15 minute walk down to Bar Street and Club Street! On the way down, there are 2 bars - Thomas pub and Mikes Bar! They are Fab! Thomas pub serves a fab full breakfast or 4 Euros! The Barman, Jannis, makes you feel really welcome! Would definitely go there again!!

Hi, found a few mixed reviews about this hotel when I was booking up so i was a tiny bit worried. Turned out to be brilliant. The staff are lovely and make your stay that much more enjoyable. Food was good, pool was clean, room was good sized and appliances were general (who goes on holiday to cook 3 course meals every night anyway? it was just right)I'd reccomend this hotel to anyone who wants to just chill out and have a great time. Made lots of good friends who I still keep in touch with and would go back again in a few years!
