This was mine & my husbands 5th year at Golden Days and it was our 8 month old daughters first holiday.
The staff at golden days couldn't wait to meet Ellie, they have been in contact with us since the day she was born so our greeting was overwhelming. They had a cot ready for us so we could go straight to our room and put Ellie to bed as it was early hours of the morning.
The entertainment was fantastic; the food was lovely they cater to your every need.
We have made many friends at Golden Days not just the staff but other holiday makers who we meet up with every year.
The staff made sure that me and my family had everything we needed especially for Ellie, they all loved Ellie and I know that she adored them just as much as we do.

Having never been to Rhodes before the Golden Days Hotel in Afandou was selected at random. We travelled with another couple who we have holidayed with several times before and went in August as she is a teacher.
The hotel itself is well located in Afandou, being a 20 - 25 minute walk from the main beach and positioned on the outskirts of the town itself. Upon arrival (at 3.00 am an hour later than scheduled) we were met with enthusiasm by Nicos a young Greek man who made us feel very welcome. After being shown to our rooms we had time for a cool beer at the bar before retiring.
The room itself although basic, was comfortable. The kitchen area was as you would expect in Greece, enough to make a coffee in the morning and able to keep your drinks and water cold in the fridge. The bathroom was fine as well. A word must be said for the cleaning staff, particularly Maria. Our rooms were cleaned every day and the bed linen and towels exchanged on an almost daily basis. Full marks there.
One slight disappointment was the pool area which is rather small and once full of children makes it difficult to do anything other than cool off. There were plenty of sun beds around the pool and in the shady, tree lined area.
The staff were all excellent, from Carol who works on reception to the two mad main members of staff, Nicos and Landros. There are three main evenings of entertainment provided, a Greek night , a Karaoke night and a quiz/bingo night The latter is free and the former two priced at a reasonable 15 and 9 euros respectively. All in all I can thoroughly recommend The Golden Days.
Afandou itself however we found to be very characterless, the selection of good restaurants is poor (avoid the Chinese opposite the hotel I got food poisoning and was ill for three days) the shops are expensive and cater for the non tourist. However said that eating and drinking out is good value a typical price for a large beer being around 2 euros

Just back from one of the best holidays we’ve ever had, due in the main to the Golden Days Hotel and all the fantastic staff, who were so friendly and welcoming. It’s a real family atmosphere and they go out of their way to make your holiday perfect.
The rooms are basic, but immaculately clean, thanks to the lovely Maria and Irene, who do a top job. On Reception Carol & Katarina go out of their way to help.
We ate breakfast and lunch in the hotel restaurant most days. The food is lovely, and the service was first class and always delivered with a smile by Yannis!
Lambros and Nikos were the entertainment of the hotel! They’re fantastic guys and excel themselves at the Karaoke & Greek nights, which are not to be missed as you are guaranteed a great time. Lambros could certainly teach Tom Cruise a thing or two behind the bar!
Afandou itself is beautiful and not too busy, although there are plenty of restaurants and bars. We would definitely recommend Sergio’s (Greek/Italian food) and Danielle’s (Italian). It’s a pretty village, so well worth exploring. The chapel at the top of the (big!) hill, opposite the hotel is beautiful, and you get an amazing view of Afandou and the sea from up there.
This was a wonderful holiday which we cannot fault. Our only regret is that we didn’t go for longer. Most of the people we met have been staying at Golden Days for years, so that speaks for itself. We’re already planning to go back next year with our friends and can’t wait! Look forward to seeing you all next year!
Thanks for a brilliant holiday!

We arrived back from Golden Days Hotel on Wednesday, and could not wait to write a real, honest review on the hotel - with no nit-picking!
When we arrived at the hotel we were met by Lambros, who kindly helped us with our luggage and lead us to the reception area where we were met and greeted by the lovely Leeds born Carole. During check-in we were made to feel so welcome and nothing is ever a problem. When checking in we were allocated RM 65, and after reading some very appalling reviews we were a little worried - as you can imagine!
Upon entering the room we were very happy with the quality and size of the room. The rooms are very basic, however very satisfactory. In the room was a kitchenette, a large wardrobe, twin beds and a vanity unit - but who needs more!
After unpacking we ventured out to the bar area, where again we were met by the mad-man Lambros. The bar offers many options whether they be cocktails right through to soft drinks. Once we had our drinks we parked our self’s on some very comfy sofas, which is exactly what you need after the long journey!
Throughout the holiday we ate in the hotel restaurant - which is delicious and the service provided by Yiannis is second to none! There are many different choices for breakfast, which is served right up until 11.30am. The restaurant also serves many different Greek dishes which are available between 1pm and 5pm.
The pool area is also a delight. There is no early morning towel brigade and previously suggested. This may have been the in the past, however management of the hotel have placed signs all round the pool and in the reception area stating that this behaviour is forbidden. All new sunbeds have just been purchased for the pool and garden area to replace the ones previously broken. Entertainment by the pool is provided, yet again by Lambros - he gets every where!!! The pool bar is open between 11am - 4pm, only during peak season.
Although the restaurant in the hotel was wonderful, we chose to try different restaurants on an evening. We would highly recommend the Chinese across the road from the hotel. Initially I refused to eat Chinese in Greece, however I was persuaded after such good reviews, and I agree that the food at the Chinese restaurant is the best Chinese I've ever eaten!! I would also highly recommend Sergio's (the Italian/Greek restaurant) just outside the town square, and Tasty's - the upstairs garden restaurant.
The entertainment at the hotel includes a Greek Night every Friday for a mere 15 euros. This price includes Greek dancing and wonderful traditional Greek food . And the karaoke night which is every Monday night is a mere 9 euros. For this price you get karaoke entertainment, traditional Greek food and a drink of your choice. Out of the two the karaoke night is our favourite - it's not a must that you have to sing, and the atmosphere is brilliant and such a good laugh as they involve everyone!
All in all the holiday has been the best ever due to the efforts made by all the staff at the Golden Days hotel. Everyone goes and of their way to make the holiday exactly what you want it to be.
Also it's not only the staff that make the holiday what it is but also other guest staying in the hotel who return every year. This is what makes the Golden Days experience the family home that it is.
On this holiday we met some of the most amazing people who we shall be friends with for many years to come.
I would like to thank all the staff at Golden Days for the most amazing experience ever and we shall see you again January!
Thank you again!!

We have just spent our 6th year at Golden Days and as usual have enjoyed it immensely. As usual all the staff (who have become very dear and special friends) greet us with their usual fantastic welcome and our holiday begins right away.
Nothing is too much trouble for any of them and they will do anything and go out of their way to help you at any time.
The cleanliness is second to none, the food is first class whenever you want to eat. The pool is lovely with plenty of sun beds provided. There is also a garden area with sun beds . The entertainment is superb and great fun!
Over the years we have met and become friends with many holidaymakers - who also return to Golden Days (86% of people who return every year can't be wrong can they?
I agree with all the reviews, apart from the gentleman who only gave it 3 out of 10 - but then we go on holiday to enjoy ourselves which we certainly do - not to find fault!! We can't wait to get back there. Thanks Golden Days for some of the best holidays we have had.

I have just come back from spending a fantastic week at Golden days. This was my 5th year there, and my partner Andy's 1st. Every year I’ve been back there, i have been overwhelmed by their friendliness, generosity and over all kindness of all staff there.
They meet and greet you on arrival, and help you with your luggage and generally do there utmost to make you feel at home and welcome, and will accommodate your every need. They have got fantastic cleaning staff, who keep all the rooms clean and tidy and change the bedding / towels daily.
The entertainment organised is excellent i.e.: Karaoke / Greek night, all at great prices.
I will definitely be going back to Golden Days next year as I thoroughly enjoy every moment I spend in the company of all the staff, who have made me feel so welcome, and have become really close friends of mine, Whom I keep in contact with frequently.

Hiya,
Just came back from another fantastic holiday at the Golden Days.
The hotel is immaculately clean (everywhere)! The food at the Hotel is delicious (we certainly sampled Greek food)and is very reasonably priced.
The staff at the Golden Days are second to none. They all speak very good English and are there 24/7 to help. Carol on reception is fantastic, she can help you with anything you need e.g.: taxis where to get the buses, information etc.
Golden Days has definitely got the best location in the village. The village is lovely and there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants to choose from. We find the prices in Afandou very reasonable compared to some of the neighbouring resorts.
The beauty of staying in Afandou is that it is nice and central to get around the island if you do want to visit other resorts (whether you want to go by bus, taxi or car)
We love to travel around the island, it's beautiful! However after a day out we love to come back to the laid back atmosphere of the village!

I am 12 years old even though I was the only kid there with my brother and I loved every second of it and the prices were not the expensive and the pool bar was open but the other people weren’t there when it opened! Everyone there was so lovely to me and my family.
The bars staff after 12:00 told us we must be quiet and we are not allowed to play pool after 11:00.The swimming pool was fantastic, and wanted to stay 4 ever if I had to pick to live in the UK or there I would pick Afandou.
The hotel is in the village so if you wanted get a bit to eat it would only be a 2 min walk l really hope that it does well.

I have traveled all over the world stayed in 5star hotels but I have never had a welcome or a good bye like you get at golden days. The staff could not do enough for you you are not just a number how panayiotis, lambros, yannis, carol and nickos remember everybodys name I don’t know.
This was the second time we have been and it was like going home even the people in the village remember who you were.
My son 11years and daughter 13 years enjoyed every minute we where there. My son cried and got every upset he did not want to come home and lambros was every good to him, he loves to play pool he was just as good as the men and it shocked them a bit, my daughter loves to sing and karaoke night is a must you get a cd of all the people or just one of you singing, Greek night panayiotis cooks all the food on a bbq (were in any hotel would you see the owner cooking food and mixing with guest) and the dancers show you how to greek dance (you can join in to ) there is some thing for every one old and young.
Thanks to you all at golden days you made my family so every happy can not wait till next year lolly pop. Luv Sarah, Chris, Amelia and Hayden.

We had to ask to be moved the 2nd night we were, there due to the noise which went on to 2am from the bar and pool table - if you book room 59 - 65 then you will need to take earplugs.
The bar prices are higher than in the town and the 2 theme night Monday - karaoke 9E
Friday night - Greek night - out of the 2 the Greek night is well worth the 15E.
Food is included on both nights but the wine on the Greek night was not - even though it did say on the advertising poster.
The pool is nice and so are the sun loungers by the pool, but the ones on the grass opposite are all damaged so you can’t use them. The craze seems to be get up at 6am and put your towel over the sun lounger you want by the pool everyday or else you won’t get one. The bar by the pool is closed all day, so if you would like a drink, you have to go into the hotel to get it.
The rooms are very basic - no kettle, only 2 hot plates next to the sink so boiling water takes a long time. The air conditioning in your room will cost you 5E a night which is really expensive most hotels only charge 2E, but they do have excellent cleaners who change your sheets on a regular basis and will tidy your room for you - its well worth leaving a tip for them as they work really hard.
This hotel only caters for the British serving English food with very little Greek food available - you will have to go into Afandou which does have some really nice places to eat.

What can I say? We have just returned from our best holiday ever! This is mainly down to all the wonderful staff who made this single parent never feel lonely! From Carol on reception who is just so welcoming to Lambros, Nikos and Yiannis behind the bar who were always up for a laugh and a smile and who never appeared to go home!
And then there was Irene and Maria who worked tirelessly to keep the hotel immaculately clean and even had time to clean your rooms every day (which I’ve never known before!). Nothing was too much trouble for these guys. The guys worked so hard to be entertaining for all their guests and had a couple of nights organised which were both fabulous and such good value for money.
I'm just in awe at how hard this bunch of people work to make your holiday worthwhile. Carol was a fountain of knowledge and it was never too much trouble to ask her things like the timetable for the local bus services to Rhodes town or to Lindos or asking the boys good traditional tavernas to eat which were off the beaten track. Will I go back to Golden days? - try and stop me!
