the worst hotel i have ever stayed in i will not let it put me off greece as there are a lot of good hotels and places i would not recommend golf view studios to anyone as it spoilt a good part of my holiday. everytime you want something you feel as though you are intruding. a lot of the time you have to wake up bar staff to get a drink or food or thay are watching t.v. and you have to wait till the programe has finnished before you can get served. the pool was not clean. in the 2 weeks we was there we had hot water 3 times. the electric wall sockets hanging of the walls with bare wires showing. entertainment none but yet thay still advertize it in the travel agents and when you get there the rep does the same i think the people who rate these places need to be going back and do there jobs properly so that people don't get false hopes like we did we will be going in to the tavel agents to report this issue

Greeted by the owner after arriving at resort at 6am, room was found to be clean and plenty of wardrobe/draw space required for our stay and the owner had left a large bottle mineral water for us. The apartment was only cleaned once in our weeks stay including bin in bathroom which we ended up changing ourselves!

Nice quiet location only few mins from golf view hotel or Georgia apartments opposite from which you can use pool facities all day free of charge. A good 15 min walk into resort centre which was better than I had thought, a nice place for couples especially, lots friendly bars and restaurants.
Bus stop for Rhodes town is 2 mins walk from Golf Bay Studios although be prepared to wait as the time they arrive is never what the timetable says!

The rooms were clean, but my bed creaked every time I moved. The bathroom had this funny bath that had bumps in it, presumably were your bum fitted, there was no shower attachment on the wall, so you had to sit in the bath and use the shower. It was supposed to overlook a Golf course and the sea, but straight outside was a Builders Merchant Yard, not very pleasant.
The food was very very poor probably the worst I have ever had, breakfast consisted of brown or white rolls and bread, some of the rolls were stale, one form of meat, one form of cheese and eggs and there was cereal with powdered milk. The dinner was always the same salad, if it ran out you had to ask, and about 6 items on the hot dish which included potatoes and chips, so there was very little choice. Every night except one the only afters was watermelon. The shop was mostly empty, the shelves bare.
I have stayed in Greece a lot of times, and have found hotels are really great, and this is the first right up I have ever given. It was a two star hotel, that has put extras in rooms such as air conditioning, T.V and fridge, and added a shop, so that they upgrade it from a two star to three or four. When we booked it was advertised as a four star.
Even the beaches in Rhodes were pebbles and not sand, and I had to buy rubber shoes to get in and out the sea. I didn't find the hotel people that friendly, and have stayed in many places where they were friendlier. We were both very very disappointed.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Golf Bay apartments. After three nights we did have to pay for the air conditioning as temperatures at night were still in above 29 and it was particularly humid. You do need a hire car to get around and see the island. There is a handy little road train in Afandou which doesn't actually reach the Golf Bay studios but gets close at the Oasis Hotel. This road train will get you to the village centre and to the beach. Although stony the beach is very enjoyable and the water is crystal clear. There are shops for basic needs in the village and a supermarket ten minutes walk away.
Lefteris and his wife Vivi who run the apartments are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and towels and bedding are provided but not beach towels. We did a lot of self catering- eating salads and fruit for lunches and eating out most nights. We only ate once in Afandou at a taverna near the supermarket. We also ate out in Rhodes Town and Lindos. We used the hotel pool once and that was enough. It was spoilt by the loutish behaviour of the English guests who are incapable of putting together a sentence without swearing and whose children are badly behaved.
With a hire car we visited many superb beaches and the ancients sites of Ialysos, Lindos and Kamiros and also the Valley of the Butterflies.
We had a very enjoyable holiday- the only poor aspects were the journeys there and back. This is where the "package" part of the holiday kicked in. Once we had arrived and were independent we had a great time. If I go again I shall book flights with another carrier and phone Lefteris to book the accommodation.

The Golf Bay Studios were indeed in very pretty grounds. The rooms themselves are very well kept, nice and clean and what I would say was usual Greek standards. The kitchen had every utensil you could possibly need, plenty of plates, glasses etc. The bathroom even had a shower curtain! The room had a fan in it and we were told at the end of the week that we had to pay for using it. We had presumed that because it was already there that it was free of charge - it would be better if they weren't in already if the owners want to charge for usage.
The owner Larry and his wife were very helpful and pleasant so no complaints there at all.
What I would say was a downside was that every time we wanted to use the shower the water pressure would either go down to a trickle or completely off because the gardens were being watered by the sprinklers.
We were also under the impression that the Golf View Hotel was a bit closer than it actually was (brochure description). Don't get me wrong we didn't have to walk miles, but a steep walk down to the main road, followed by about a 10 minute or so walk along the main road and back up the steep hill to get to the hotel in blazing heat is not the best, but we did get used to that. We were fit by the end of the week.
The apartments are about a 30 minute walk into Afandu itself (though 15 minute back down the hill after a night out!). This is ideal if you really do want a quiet relaxing holiday.
