Maria Complex

An excellent location to be based for exploring, hitting the nightlife or just relaxing. The location is rural, so expect chicken and goat noise at times, but it just adds to the charm. Malia is only a 15 minute 12 Euro taxi trip away for those who want a riotous holiday.
The accommodation is simple but functional, the pool is easily accessible from all the accommodation and the bar is excellent for a drink or snack.
The beach is easily reached and no more than a 15 minute walk, don't expect super smooth walking surface though. And the facilities at the beach are good, with a snack bar, toilets showers and life guard.

This was a fabulous find. The complex was everything that was described on the Olympic website. The rooms were more than adequate and exactly as you would expect to find in 2-3 star Greek accommodation. The pool area was excellent, clean and well-maintained. The Greek staff were very friendly and helpful. Yes, there are chickens & goats in the surrounding fields, and they do make some noise.... But this all added to the ambience of a rural, traditional village. The main road does run past the front of the accommodation which does lead to some traffic notice, but it is not excessive.
The beach was as described, a 700 metre walk. The path is a little rocky, but worth the effort, as the little bay is really pretty, clean and well-patrolled by a life guard.
The village of Sissi is beautiful and civilised, and the sunset from the harbour is gorgeous. Go to the restaurant right at the edge of the harbour.
I would definitely recommend it and would go back anytime.

The details shown on the Olympic and Maria Complex brochure and websites are unsatisfactorily inaccurate.
There is no taverna; no mention that there are 3 sites situated along the busy road - only 1 site has the pool/bar/etc; Bufos beach is approx. 1000m to 1500m away; Kalimera Kriti is more like a 20-30 minute walk; the accommodation is of a very poor standard; self-catering is not possible due to lack of equipment provided; rooms are small and cramped (3m x 4m), not spacious and open plan; no mention of the cockerels which start crowing at 3am in the morning, directly below the balcony; no hot water, any time of the day; beds/mattresses extremely uncomfortable; staff are highly unhelpful.
Don’t bother hiring a fan, as 30 Euros, per person per week!!! Air Con is 80 Euros per week.
Overall, I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy to stay here!!

This was an alright accommodation, but the only big problem was the way the rooms were presented to us. not even the room but the rep that was there at the time was not any help. we are not going to book with Olympic again.
Maria was a good distance away from Malia and nice and quiet when we wanted it to be.
One of the rooms were very much unattended to, the rooms porch doors were broke and anybody could enter even if the porch door was locked. The best part was the weather and being with my friends.

Maria complex a brilliant getaway quiet holiday in a beautiful little village called Sissi, friendly family run the place.
Would stay there again without a doubt.
Only complaint was not with the accommodation but the price we paid for the break. We paid £300 each for a week and people who booked earlier than us had only paid £ 220 each for a fortnight in the same rooms, same deal s/c.......we booked late availability which I have always been led to believe was cheaper than if you take it from the brochure.
