Yiannos Manos Apartments

I went here with 21 of my friends and had a brilliant week! It's a 10 minute walk to the strip which you dont feel after a few drinks and your chatting to people, all the people at the hotel were really nice and you can get a full English breakfast for €3.50 all day long. It's perfect for a first holiday whatever the size of your group!
The rooms are basic but theyve got everything you need if your going with some mates for a **** up. I highly recommend this place! :)

I have just come back after spending a week with my friends. It was our first holiday away without our parents, so we wanted it to be a good'un! The apartments were basic, but very clean! The cleaner came in once every 2 days to change your sheets and give you clean towels. The only downside i found to the room, was the shower which over flowed almost everytime you used it! However there was a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor which meant all the water went down there, so it wasn't awful! The beds were comfy and we expected completley different! We booked for a room of 4, and found that we had two rooms, with 2 single beds in each and an inter joining bathroom and kitchenete that had a microwave and a mini oven thing. (Which we didn't really use) As we found we ate mostly at the bar downstairs. The staff are extremely friendly!! and help you with anything you need. There were two young people who worked that, that we got friendly with and chatted to by the pool on a few occasions. The security is amazinggg and you would find them potrolling the area allll night! If you were drinking on your balcony with your friends or people you had meet in the hotel then you had to be quiet by 12.00! But that just meant you could go down to there bar! Which was cheap! As it was happy hour from 9-1.00! And i found having an archers and lemonade most nights. Costing only $6! Which i thought was brillianttt. There were two pools, one slightly bigger than the other. With alot of sunbeds. So you had no problem finding a sunbed when you eventually had woken up from the night before. It was only a 10 minute walk to the strip (nightlife) which we thought was fine! If walking with friends. There was a supermarket literally accross the road so that came in handy on manyyy occasions! The food served at the bar was of a reasonable price! However, we found buying water from the supermarket was alot cheeper. And we just stored it in our fridge in the room. Overall, i would DEFINATLEY recommend it for teenagers around the ages of 18! Who can't afford to spend a fortune. And we found when we were there there were ONLY teenagers so it was brilliant as we became friends with other young people around the hotel. Cheap and cheerful. Such a good week away! GO THERE!!!!

It was amazing, the scenery was lovely, staff are great, helpful, especially the bar staff! Food is great, two pools so plenty of space for everyone. The rooms themselves is you get what you pay for, a nice bed, option for air con, shower was a challenge to work out. Only two complaints was the strictness on noise, you can't make noise after 12am, the security guard was shouting at us when we were talking in our room, therefore after 12am we had to go to the terrace area which was the only place you could speak. The second complaint is the activities they provide, booze cruise was appauling, unless they drop the price from 50 euro then it isn't worth it. Other than that, it was a good holiday, it's a 10 minute walk to the strip and getting a taxi is no problem. Definitely worth every penny.

Me & my wife stayed here in June, & it's a decent place, far away from the hustle & bustle, near enough to the beech. hotel was ok food catered for mainly British but decent enough, pool area was nice & clean. overall good holiday

My friend and i stayed in these apartments early june. We were confused as we booked our holiday with thomas cook, yet flew with jet2 and then the place was run by olympic holidays. The rep was useless if you didn't want to go on the booze cruise she did not want to know you. She was hungover everyday so couldn't be bothered unless you were a guy.
The rooms were average but the bar staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We met so many people while we were there that made our holiday. It is about 20 minutes from the strip but this meant when you got back at a ridiculous hour in the morning you could actually sleep!
During a day there's not a great deal to do so best to rent a quad and go to star beach - what a place! Also go to help bar - drinks were a decent price!

Both myself and partner stayed here for 7 nights back in august 2009 and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of accomodation. The hotel is advertised as being three star but was fortunately nicer than what I had expected, although a little further out the way (8 minute walk from the strip) i believe this is respective as to why it gets its lower rating.
The rooms were very basic but exceptionally clean, had all the basics from a fridge/freezer, 2 ring electric hob, safe, tv, plus extra towels/bed sheets. Luckily i had thought to take my own kettle so didn't miss out on a cuppa in the morning :) Slight problem with the shower as you couldn't run it for longer than 5 minutes without the bathroom flooding. After reading the previous reviews it seems others had the same problem.
I wouldn't class this as a family resort as it is pretty full of people in their late teens, however being 19 at the time I didn't find anything a problem. Didn't once find myself having sleepless nights, as the hotel has strict rules and won't allow disruptive behaviour. I would return again as it's a great low budget holiday and would reccomend it to anyone wanting a cheap, short break in the sun. :)

Me and my two girls came here last year and it was fantastic. We met some great people we are still friends with, the hotel was very clean and spacious. Although the walk to the strip was long and when it was hot it felt longer!! Great nightclubs and bars; we saw Tinie Tempah in Kiss wich was amazing. its definately a holiday for groups of young friends! The Red Lion was realli good for food; cheap and nice. the security was tight so no men back ;) and that was the same in most apartments; you had to pay! the hotel was safe, very secure, nice friendly bar staff; everyone tlked to each other. safety deposit box in reception, and passports kept safe locked away. air conditioning was also available but at a price BUT YOU NEED IT!!!! it looked the nicest compared to other accomadtion and was realli good value for money so highly recommended!! two amazin pools and u cud allways sit on the grass if there no sun loungers available. bar open till early hrs 8am!! only bad thing were the showers flooded the whole bathroom as they were walk in!

This hotel was better than i though it would be. it was my first time away so i wanted it all to be good. i couldnt ask for a better 1st holiday, the hotel was beautiful and its exactly how it looks on the website. the room was basic but spacious and everything you needed was their (expect a kettle but your in a hot country so you didnt miss it)
the walk to the strip was only 10min and was only bad during the day when the heat is at its peak, but you could always hire a quad bike which made the holiday even better.
they had two really good sized pools so it was never overcrowed so enough sun beds for everyone .the food in the bar was reasonably priced although you could always go down the strip to have some dinner or at the greece restaurant pertinos.
the bar staff are really good and nice people.
Crazy george the secruity guard was there at 12pm no fail, so you couldnt invite people over but for safety reason we had none of our stuff stolen.
our room was cleaned every other day so we always had clean sheets.
you was far enough from the strip to get some sleep but not far enough if you wanted to go out and have a really good night.
however the drinks are watered down so its best you buy a bottle from the shop and drink before you went out.
all in all, this hotel was perfect for what i wanted from my holiday and i would defiantly go again.

Its hard to know where to start, the hotel is amazing. The reps there are legendary and will help you out with everything ! You wont have a language problem because the staff are friendly and speak english. Lots of people are saying the walk to the strip is too long, but knowing your coming back to Yiannos Manos after seeing the other hotels is really nice. The walk is about 10 minutes each way but doesnt seem to long and you get used to it after a few days, its only during the day which it takes its toll because its so hot.
The hotel is clean and although basic is more than needed for a lads/girls holiday, i wouldnt recommend it for familys however when i was out there, there were a few families at the hotel. The pool was never really crowded and there was always plenty of sunbeds, the food cannot ever be criticised ! Its decent quality and cheap, a pizza is about 5/6 euros and pints are 2.50, cokes are about 3 and cocktails are 2 for 6.
All in all i would give the hotel a 9/10 because i had absolutely no problems whatsoever except the mental security guard george who will not hesitate to tazer any boys that girls bring back to the hotel !
Absolutely amazing holiday and great hotel !

Just got back from Yiannos Manos apartments in Malia; for me it was my second visit to Malia for the rest of the 7 girls it's the first girls only holiday and it's been great!
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the actual strip which is good because it means it has the room for 2 big pools, and when you fancy coming home you actually get to sleep. We were advised not to walk to the road leading to the bottom of the strip alone so Taxis can be easily called at the bar for 7 euros between 4 thats nothing; we did meet some people from our hotel though that we'd walk there with some nights. Theres Manos supermarket near by which is handy; and a huge spar in the strip so it's easy to get bottled water and stuff.
Even though theres the rules in Crete that no food or drink not purchased at the hotel bar can be consumed around the pool it didn't really affect us to be honest. Water was only a euro and cold anyways. The Bar staff were all so lovely, always wanting a chat. I have to mention the food at the bar is really good as well, we'd always eat lunch in there.
We were really lucky with the rooms we got, all really bit, 2 balconies and all the stuff you'd expect to find in a self catering apartment. We didn't bother with the aircon it wasn't really necessary, although it's 50 euros for the week.
The pools were really nice we had no problems getting 8 sunbeds at like 12pm because everyone was still in bed recovering from the night before. Sirens Beach about a 5 minute walk away was really nice as well, it just gets a little windy like the rest of crete. If you want a good day out though go to 'Star Beach' it's not part of an excursion or anything but theres slides, bars, water sports, bungee jumping and a daily foam party - good party beach, it cost us about 15 euro in the taxi.
The only down side of the holiday was that after one of our rooms had reported the toaster broken, they sent the maintanence man up to fix it, one of my friends found him unlocking one of the girls LOCKED cases, trying to get in there. Thank god she walked in on time - the receptionist didn't talk this statement very well and probably hated us for the entire hoilday. So be warned about your money, make sure it's hidden it happens in every resort.
Best places to visit in Malia though; Yiassou Bar to start the night, Malibu Bar/Club, Candy and Zoo bar - Oh and start the night out at the hotel bar, drinking games and fishbowls.
Would definately recommend this hotel after seeing some of the awful hotels our friends booked with club 18-30s.
