lovely week, bad weather!

I went for one week in September with a friend, we are both 19. The best part of this accomodation was that it had two lovely swimming pools, and so many sunbeds! Because we went after school term time had started, it meant that it was empty and we could really relax. The setting and area is really peaceful and quite except for the odd quad bike. The room itself was pretty clean, athough basic. we received plenty of fresh towels and sheets. Only real drawback was the dodgy shower :/ and we had to buy all our own loo rool. Food by the pool was average, although very reasonably priced. You're not allowed to take any drinks or food to the poolside, apart from stuff bought at the pool bar, however we did smuggle crisps and water down, you just have to be careful! The local supermarket was very expensive, although this could be down to the exchange rate at the moment, however all the people we met were very friendly and eager to help. These apartments definitely looked the nicest out of all the ones we saw, although it is a good 10/15 minute walk into town, and you do have to be aware of the gypsy children! But we found making some friends to walk into town with, as part of a group an easy solution to this, and gave us added drinking time whilst we walked! I would say if you're planning a crazy malia holiday, this is definitely going to be one of the nicer places to stay, however be warned that the security is ridiculously tight and you cant have guests overnight, however hard you try! Even if you come back at 8am, it'll still be classed as overnight :( guess ist trying to have some sort of family reputation! Overall would def stay here again for a relaxing holiday, whilst being close enough to the nightlife to enjoy it, but not have to hear it 24/7!

Very nice complex but thats as good as it gets, 2 nice pools but its situated in the middle of nowhere, you have to walk at least 20 mins to get to malia town,5 mins to the beach, the walk takes you down an unlit road and you are advised not to walk down at night because of the threat of being mugged or your handbag stolen. There s no air conditioning in the rooms unless you pay 50 euros a week, i went at the end of may and it was around 35degrees and you definatley need air con through the night, i didnt budget for this and had many a sleepless night. If your self catering the kitchen equipment is very basic, a 2 ring electric hob and fridge is about it, no kettle, the staff are very un helpful unless your spending money at the bar, around the pool you are only allowed food or drinks purchased from the bar, expect to pay 2.50 euros for a can of coke, i found everything very expensive unless you go to the Spar on beach rd (30min walk) i wouldnt go again

The hotel is okay with good rooms, two good pools and 24 hour bar. If your going for a quiet holiday where you want security to be on top of any ladish behaviour go here, if you want to go on a lads holiday, or girls, in a large group, stay away. The security wouldn't let you have anyone who wasn't in your room in your room after mid night or even let you stay on your balcony playing cards with your mates.
I can honestly say I wouldn't go there again.

Yiannos Manos made my holiday! The apartment was basic but perfect. It had everything we needed apart from a kettle! The cleaners where brilliant and cleaned the room every other day! The shower wasn't that good but it done the job.
The food is gorgeous!! Also go to the Long Island and tell Matt that Carl & Rachel sent you! You might get a free cocktail out of it!! It is a family run restaurant and 24 hour bar and they sell the best food on the strip!
The staff at Yiannos Manos are excellent! Their even my face book friends now! Gemma the rep is the best! She's a scouser, same as two of the bar staff. Very Friendly!! The security guard Stalious is amazing. All of the ladies seemed to fancy him! He keeps the resort very safe at night time and patrols the area!
The swimming pools look a bit different to the brochure, but are so much better!!!! There are also 3 pool tables at 2euro a game, but we just kept catching the balls!!
All in all this place is amazing!!! I will definitely be going back!!!!!!

Sep 2008, Miss S Langridge

Just got back from a weeks holiday at the yiannos maos apts. there were 6 girls all together an we all had a brilliant time! the staff are all really helpful and get to know you all well. the apartments are basic but do the job fine. we decided against buying air con and we tried to keep are terrace door open to let the breeze in. i think it worked ok as it was september but not sure what it would be like in the height of summer! the place is set along the strip an takes about 10-15 mins walk to get in to the centre of the nightlife and the few shops. good nights out but just be aware of all the PR's. they try pretty much anything to get you into there place. learn to just walk away if you dont want to go in!!!
when we were there walking along the strip was fine an didnt have anyone bother us. i can see it being very easy for ppl to do it though an would say to never walk along on your own. we stayed together the whole time. safety in numbers an al that!!
on one of the days we went to the water park. booked it through the rep and think itwas about 30 euros each. had a really good day but the coach was so hot (dont think they like usig air con much over there) getting a portable fan an drinking lots of water will help. a couple of the girls found having a hangover to really didnt help! lol!!
The security in the apartments are very good i found and have someone there from about midnight until the morning. they don't let noise in the rooms past 12 and sitting out on the terrace. we gt a couple warnings but nothing major at all an made me feel much safer to know we had someone there.
would recommend this place to anyone and by looking at other places while walking around think we had one of the best places out there!
If anyone is staying there have an awesome time!!!

Yiannos Manos Apartments are...

Aug 2008, Miss R Corrie

Yiannos Manos Apartments are fantastic. The rooms are basic, but clean, spacious and the general area it is set in is lovely. All rooms have spacious balconies, ours overlooked the mountains and was beautiful. Safety deposit boxes on offer for a small weekly fee which is very useful. Internet facilites and playstations on offer too. The apartments have air conditioning for a small weekly fee as well, all much appreciated on the very hottest days!
Closest supermarket shop only 1 minute down the road and Only a 10 minute walk into the centre of the town which means you can easily escape the noise of the busy Malia nightlife if you don't fancy it. Although I personally wouldn't at all consider it a dangerous area, I wouldn't recommend walking home alone late at night as a short part of the road is poorly lit. But it is a fairly popular stretch and there's plenty of people walking back and forwards from here all night we found!
The apartments have some strict rules and written warnings given out, especially at night but we thought they were excellent and provided a much appreciated safe haven from any drunken yobs and behaviour. The security guards don't allow any noise from balconies after midnight (so people can actually get some sleep!) and patrol the area and sit at the main gates as well stopping people from entering who are not actually staying at the apartments. Some regarded this security too strict, but we considered it an excellent measure and if you just abide by the rules you'll have no problems.
The 2 swimming pools are lovely, very clean and not too big or small, with the one right next to the pool bar having a very tiny 'toddlers' pool which came in handy for some of the families staying there. My only slight complaint about the pools would be the music playing all the time! Its not bad, but sometimes a little too loud. I might have suggested having one pool with music playing for those who wanted it, and the other without, for families or those who just want to relax! Never a problem getting sunbeds, whatever time of day you appear from your room!
The pool bar was lovely, a big range of freshly cooked food and snacks on offer, mostly British stuff mind you (very popular!) but with a few traditional greek bits on the menu too. Tracey and Lorainne the girls working behind the bar are 2 of the most friendly and welcoming members of the hotel and they worked so hard all day!! The bar is open all day and night apart from a short cleaning period between 7-9am.
The Olympic reps are young, enthusiastic and lively although we couldn't really comment on them as we rarely needed them for anything. But our welcome meeting was pretty grim and not really very informative. The main things being promoted were the 'Booze Crooze' and all the more 'social' activities designed to get you drunk. There was no mention or recommendation of any of the more cultured excursions (apart from a leaflet given to us), but I would suggest that for all trips booked, don't go immediately with Olympic. We shopped around with some of the local companies who did us exactly the same trips for 10Euros cheaper.
I would definately stay there again and intend to do so in the future. The hotel and area is definately designed with the younger in mind, although there is plenty of opportunity to escape to the quieter more cultured parts during the day. I would definately not recommend it for the older generations or people who ust want peace and quiet in the sunshine. There are no lifts and you will have to lug your cases up stairs if your room is on the 2nd/3rd floor!
Overall, an excellent holiday! Thank you Yiannos Manos Apartments!!

Facilities are good and close to some excellent beaches. This resort is ideal for large groups of 16-20 year olds especially those who like quadbikes. Not suitable for families or older people who like their sleep and/or a bit of peace and quiet (these comments are applicable in July and August, rest of year unknown though suspect it is very different May and September). While I was there a girl from the resort celebrating her 19th birthday came off a motorbike when accepting a lift back from a night out and ended up in hospital in a coma with a serious head injury.

The holiday was amazing! The apartments were wicked! I went with 6 other girls and we were a bit worried when we were put in a seperate block to the rest of the complex, but it was the best thing we couldve asked for! The security guards never bothered us and we didn't get any noise from any other guests! In fact one night, a boy I met walked me back to the apartments, and we asked the security guard to phone him a taxi back to his own apartments, and the security guard told me I was allowed him in my room because we 'looked like a nice couple.' The walk to the clubs isn't a problem at all, and we spent most days by the Yiannis pool and eating the yummy food :) Everyone was really friendly and I am definitely booking to go back to these apartments next summer.
