Stellios Gardens

I totally agree with all the bad reviews of Stelios Gardens having just returned from 10 days there.
The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful unless you were spending money at their over-priced bar, when they would put on fake smiles!
Our room was "cleaned" every other day. However this did not include clean towels or bed sheets. They were only changed once in 10 days.
The bathroom was awful. The toilet is plastic and had a crack in it so i was worried about it leaking but luckily it didnt. However it did not flush properly. We had one hot shower the whole time we were there and that was the day of the changeover when half of the hotel had checked out. The hot tap in the bathroom sink did not have a steady flow but instead spurted water out so it went everywhere.
The kitchen was extremely basic with only 2 plates, 2 glasses and 2 mugs when we were in a room for 3 people. There was no plug in the kitchen sink so i could not wash up.
There's no air conditioning however you can hire fans but when it's 34degrees this doesnt make much difference.
The pool area is fairly big and clean with plenty of sunbeds and lilos - the only positive thing about the hotel.
I will definitely not be returning to this hotel. I stayed at Maria Rousse in Malia last year which is 100times nicer and would recommend this hotel over Stelios Gardens any day.

Just returned from a 2 week holiday in Malia, first impression when getting off the couch at 6am was not great.
We got to our rooms and sat on the balcony watching a young man in a SMALL swimming costume being escorted from the building by security. Later that day we watched anther young man jump into the pool completely naked (he was not removed and allowed to carry on, having a laugh).
First night was not good, kept up all night by shouting, arguing and screaming - ALL NIGHT !!!!!!!
We were not told when we booked this holiday that it was not a suitable place for children. We found this out after calling Olympic Holidays asking to be moved. When we booked the holiday we specified it needed to be suitable for children. So obviously the travel company were only interested in getting our money.
Eventually after 3 days and many calls to Olympic Holidays and KPX travel, we had no choice but to make our own alternative accommodation arrangements (cost 650 euro from our own pocket. We were not offered any suitable alternative and they were happy to leave a family in dire circumstances.
The hotel was ok, my complaint is about the travel company and the disgusting behavioural of the other people staying at the apartments,
They were loud, foul mouthed and even shouting obscenities at us when we walked pass with the kids.
I am ashamed to say that I come from the same country as these idiots, they should be embarrassed of themselves. No respect !!!
I know they are young any enjoying themselves and I have not problem with that, its the complete and utter disrespect they show other people. PK - London

The only positive things about this so called 3 star hotel was the great location to both the beach and the night life. The rooms were bug invested, beds unclean and bathroom was tiny. The worst thing about the hotel was the treatment the staff gave to their guests. The owner of the hotel was intimidating,sleezy and ripped us off at every chance he could. On our last day, we were charged twenty five euro for a towel that had some dirt on it. On questioning us on the towel the cleaner through it at one of my friends face and pushed another onto the bed and proceeded to scream at her. A man also walked about the hotel with a baseball bat to intimidate everyone at night and even hit one of the boys we met on holidays on the stomach. Do not consider this hotel,the so called service they provide is a disgrace and I will never be back.
The hotel was a disaster but we never let it annoy us. We had an absolute ball in Malia... party central :)

Stayed at this hotel with a group of friends for one week in june and had an awful experience due to the rudeness of the staff that run this hotel. The prices of food and drink at the pool bar are very high especially compared to the supermarket which is a 2 minute walk up the road. However at night when you don't buy drinks from the bar and try to drink your own on your balconies the owner comes around with a security guard carrying a baseball bat and tries to split you up from your friends and send you back to your individual rooms. Overall malia is a fantastic place, just make sure to stay well clear of this awful hotel.

I stayed in stelios gardens in June 2011. Malia is so lovely, it was warm and busy and had amazing night life. The hotel is in the perfect location, a 2 min walk from the strip and a 2 min walk from beach. Absolutely perfect. The pool at the hotel was lovely and clean and there was always a sun chair available. The bar was really good and they always gave generous measures in your drink and the staff were friendly. The rooms was ok however it had no airconditioning and was very hot in the night and you couldnt open the doors because of lizards and bugs. The room was basic but nice however our room didnt get cleaned every day and our towells and sheets were never changed which we complained about. The people in malia were so friendly however it's got slightly expensive there for drinks so we drank before we went out in hotel room.
Overall Malia is a lovely holiday for groups of people or 2 friends I wouldnt suggest couples to go here. I would love to go back next year and i'd definately stay in Stelios Gardens again.

I just returned from a lads holiday where a large group of us stayed at stelios gardens, we had a great time in malia and i would definately recommend it, but the hotel needed some vast improvements. The faults of this hotel are endless. The rooms were in a terrible state, with dirty beds, no clean dishes, the bath room was awful as it had a leaky roof and the shower didn't work properly. The staff at this hotel were rude and very disrespectful numerous times during our stay. one of my mates had his mobile and wallet stolen from a table with was right next to the bar and we suspected that a staff member had taken it so we confronted the manger and asked to see the cctv footage as there were cameras there. The manager got very defensive and told us that they didn't work which seemed like a convenient way to avoid further investigation into the missing items. He later had the audacity to accuse us of stealing our friends belongings. During our stay we also heard of other holiday makers who were staying there complaining about money going missing from their room. All in all I certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone. on the plus side the pool was nice and the hotel was in a good location near the sea.

Ignore the bad reviews of this hotel! Me and my 4 friends went to
Malia last august and it was our 1st holiday away together so we were a little nervous when we read the hotel reviews that the staff were aggressive and unreasonable. When we arrived it was around 4 in the morning and we were greeted immediately by staff and shown to our room. We were given a wrist band and told that only people staying in the hotel were allowed in the rooms Which is understandable however anyone was allowed at the pool bar which was 24 hours anyway so this wasn't a problem. Stellios is in the PERFECT location just 5 minutes from the beginning of the strip, couldn't have asked for a better location! The hotel was pretty small which made it very sociable as you knew everyone and everyone had a laugh round the pool. We did get charged for a matteress for €100 because we had got it wet but after we paid we were treated the same by all the staff. Yannis who owns the bar is hilarious and such a laugh! He gave us free shots all the time because we got the party going! Maria who owns the hotel can be percieved as rude but you just have to be nice, try not to upset her. Yannis wife Maria who works on the bar is brill she's lovely and really chatty. The hotel is clean and the maids come round everyday and mop the floor and clean the bathroom! They come round at about 2pm so if you like
To sleep during the day it's not that good cos they make you wait outside the room whilst they tidy. The maids are funny though and you can have a good chat to them but be careful what you tell them because they will report you to maria for anything you say that's bad.
The security guard walks around the complex at night. He doesn't speak good English but if he tells you to do something eg. Go back to your room
I advise you do it lol cos he's scary and he carries a police batton!!! But if u do as he says he's fine lol!
On the whole this was by far the best week of my life! The hotel was perfick and I would reccomend it to ANYONE going to malia!
I've booked kavos this year for a change I hope it lives up to malia and the stellios!

My boyfriend and i went there in septmber 2010. It was perfect! But when you only pay a cheap price for your holiday you dont expect 5 star quality! We had everything we needed, and the people were so nice! (Een keeping our passports back when we thouht we had lost them!) The weather was sooo hot! Would go back again!

the only way i can describe this hotel is disgusting.
was ment to be self catering, had no bowls, dishes, cups or anything in the room, had to purchase our own bowls which to be honest was probably a good thing. bathroom was just filthy. bed sheets, every kind of stain you could possibly imagine.
VILE.
only good thing is its location.

The hotel was of very poor quality. The hotel should be re-graded as a 1 star hotel.
We were allocated a three bedroom room for two people but the bathroom was very small. the sink was too close to the toilet so it was hard to take a dump or take a leak standing up.
the shower unit was very small, i couldn't really take a step around myself because it was just too small. The hot water was only available at certain times.
The kitchen utilities were dirty when we arrived at the hotel, half the forks/knives/mugs hadnt been cleaned, we just bought cups for our drinks from a nearby supermarket.
The cleaners also did a poor job cleaning the room, it was just a quick mop and sometimes they did not even change the towels that were very dirty. There was also a very dirty bedsheet that had come off the bed, which was placed back on the bed. The cleaner should have taken this back in to wash.
we had to pay an extra cost for the use of a safe which was not a deposit. The safe looked secure but it smelt of fish/meat.
theres no tv/radio and there is NO AIR CONDITIIONING!!!
