Villamarina Club Reviews

If getting drunk to Hi-di-hi type entertainment, eating cold food and living with flies is your thing, you'll love it.

Nov 2011, Paul Roberts

What a dump. The first room stank of smoke, which was no mean feat when it is a non-smoking hotel. The sink was in the same the room as the beds and the bath was the length of two pieces of hand luggage.
The second room looked out onto a rooftop, which had a broken chair on it and was littered with paper drinks cups. Some broken planters with dying plants in them formed a barrier to the end of the rooftop and the one story drop. And it is just as well as on the second night some guests got onto the rooftop, just outside our window and started urinating against our bedroom wall. They then climbed back through an unlocked window back into the corridor. It will only be a matter of time before some drunken guest, and drinking is all there is to do there, falls off the roof.
The ‘sun terrace’ was manned by a barman for 10 minutes in every 30, so either get plenty of plastic glasses worth or make it last. A line of sun cream defined the maximum fill level of the Jacuzzis. But the worst issue were the flies. I can only image what we must have looked like constantly swinging papers, books and arms at various parts of our anatomy in a vain attempt to stop the flies crawling all over us. And you are only allowed to sunbath after 9am. I’ll explain the logic behind this later.
The bar stank of stagnant water, and yes mosquitoes bit guests. In fact I think they were the only things there that ate well.
The food was at best tepid but was always cold by the time we sat down an example being that one morning the hash browns were cold in the middle at 8am and we were the first people in the restaurant. One day we had sausages as an option for every meal. They may not have been the same sausages but they were all cooked to exactly the same colour. You can make up your own mind. The only talent the cooks (the term chefs is unfair to those who do care about basic food hygiene) had was to be able to re-use last nights food on the next day’s lunch buffet by giving it another name and slapping some sauce on it. The daily entertainment in the restaurant was hide and search. It was our goal to find: a clean table, a teaspoon and a pepper pot.
The entertainment (not the same as entertaining) was so loud that we could participate in every ‘Working Man’s Club’ activity from our room, doing exceptionally well in every quiz. Definitely not designed by Mensa. The compares, as there were two, just droned on in celebration of their own voices trying in vain desperation to involve the audience in their desperately uninteresting lives and humour whilst playing on their computer randomly playing sound bites over the top of what each other were saying.
You are only allowed 2 drinks at a time from the bar where the glasses are slightly larger than test tubes. You won’t get any ice in your drinks until it has melted to size that will fit in the glass. This won’t be a problem if you didn’t have to queue in a long line, often 15 people long, to get your allotted drinks, often half full.
This hotel is designed to maximise profit by cramming as many people into the hotel as possible. The goal is to get as drunk as possible on a night, the entertainment finishing at 12.30am and the unsupervised screaming kids running up and down the corridors slamming doors finishing about 3.30am and then get up and have a full English breakfast. The hotel doesn't allow to sunbath when the sun is out because they don't believe anyone will be awake enough until 9am. The goal then is to start drinking for the night so when you do eat anything you’re never quite sure if it the alcohol or the food that is making you throw up. And because you are so drunk the waiting doesn’t seem too long at the bar and you don’t object to all clapping with your hands above your head for the ‘star attraction’ that is already 5minutes late on stage. One of the night’s entertainments was Karaoke. This isn’t the hotel providing entertainment it is the guests.
So if you want to spend your time getting drunk, leave your children to run riot and do whatever they like, run a real risk of contracting food poisoning, listen to dated, egotistical inept BTEC drama dropouts shouting into a microphone and sun bath only when the hotel allows you to. The Villa Marina Club is the place for you. Oh yeah, it’s nowhere near the marina or the beach.
A great place to film a Shameless holiday special where you won’t have to pay actors to be extras.

Just returned home today from this hotel. Didn't really enjoy this holiday was no good for teenagers, would suit people with children under ten.Hotel shuttle bus to beach was only a nine seater ,we had twelve people in our party so was useless it was about fifteen minute walk, beach is lovely also theme park is brilliant. It was our second time to salou but this hotel was no were near as good as last one. After midnight it was off to bed because you had to leave the hotel terrace area you were not allowed just to sit out with your family and you were moved out by the night security staff .You are right in the middle of the residential area so any bars that are around shut early. We stayed in the apartments that were a three minute walk away they were ok ,beds were falling apart no cups cutlery etc in kitchen also no kettle. We hired kettle for a deposit off twenty euros and air con for fifty euro deposit which we got back when we were leaving had to just take cups etc out of the restaurant as reception staff told me to do wasn't really as clean as other places food was ok but was ready to come home after five days and have never felt like that before was thankful didn't book two weeks. Was nowhere near enough sunbeds for people and seating of a night was a pain.Only two toilets in hotel a pain in the evening not very clean and always getting blocked. This hotel needs updating needs to look at programme for teenagers.

  • Advice: dancing fountains and the beach excellent also theme park brilliant

Aug 2011, villa marina club !

this hotel had its good points & its bad points.
good points: the pools are good. the food was good but need more variety !. the entertainment was good especially the hypnotist one night !
Bad points: i just need to say the sunloungers NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH NEW ONES AS THEY COLLAPSE and lots of them are broken and have cracks in them.
the BAR STAFF are very bad as the men are pervs and stare at you ! . the food at the snack bar need way more ariety and its the same sthings they put out each day . and they only open the restraunt at certain times which should be opened all day as people mabee going trips and need to eat late or early !

  • Advice: defenet trips- portaventura , aquopolis ! at nights the dancing fountains at the beach are a must see they are a must see !!!!!

Myself, husband and our two children aged 9 years and 4 years stayed at this hotel on the 24th of June 2011 for a week and had a fantastic holiday. The hotel staff were very friendly and obliging. The food was fantastic with a wide range of food every day. The selection of foods was outstanding for both children and adults. There was a great entertainment for both children and adults. The room was small but adequate to our needs. Aid conditioning worked very well. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and value for money was outstanding. We will be back.

Lovely Hotel within wqlking distance of beach. Excellent 3 star property better than some 4 star properties we have visited. The food was plentiful and very varied. Excellent if you prefer English cusine. Very well presented and cooked. Always plenty of fruit available. Breakfasts were very typically English and very good, but a good cold continental choice also. The drinks were large and pretty good quality - Sangria very popular! The beer was good to drink, also the red wine.
The pools were clean, plenty of sun loungers but the roof-top solarium was great for adults wanting to escape the children. Really loved the solarium and jacuzzies.
Visited this hotel on 6th May 2011 and would recommend it for couples and families alike. Very well managed by a lovely Spannish gentleman and the staff were friendly and efficient.
The entertainment was family orientated and very varied, always something going on during the day and night

My boyfriend stayed in this hotel in August and we loved it. It was very clean, the staff were really friendly and we loved the rooftop adult only bar. The entertainment was more focused at families which seemed to be really popular.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone of any age. Salou is a really nice place with lots to do. Catch the number 2 bus from across the road to get to the theme park and catch the number 4 bus to get to aquapolis to see the dolphin and sealion show. The beach is only a 15 minute walk away where you can do all sorts of water sports such as jet skis and parasailing.
A lot of people seem to have said that the rooms were too small. They are a reasonable size for 2 people so we were more than happy. The rooms were cleaned daily.
The all inclusive buffet had a wide range of choice and food was plentiful. There was a snackbar by the pool which was good for a late night snack.
This hotel is well worth a visit. We are so sad to be home.

We stayed for one week July 2010. 2 adults and 2 children. We had bunkbeds in the room which was quite small for four. Bathroom was small with a shower over the bath. Hotel was spotless. All staff were excellent. Good choice of food for all meals with the snack bar also offering a good choice. Very rarely had to wait in queues for bar even at peak times. Usual complaint of not enough sunbeds and people leaving towels out for hours but not using them. The adult only sun terrace is lovely and done out very nicely. Close to beach and theme parks but in a quiet location. Taxi to theme parcs about 10 euros.

Stayed at the villa marina last week, excellent value all inclusive hotel, with excellent food,v freindly staff, great cocktails, and really excellent night time entertainment, you def. would not find better outside of hotel hence the large audiences at nighttime shows, the Acrobatic show and the Queen Tribute band were amazing,I've been to alot of hotels around the world but I never seen better hotel entertainment. The roof top adult solarium with 2 jacuzzi's and bar is open nightly until 11.30pm providing live music,is an excellent place to relax.
Only 10min walk to beach with daily bus service avialable from hotel, also courtesy airport transfers.
Will def. be returning to this hotel in future, only slight complaint I had was the beds were not very comfortable, rooms quiet small but clean with excellent air con.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks there was 4 of us between 17 & 18 and we had 2 rooms. Our rooms were ok for us but would be tight if more than 2 people were sharing. The shower was brilliant. Staff were very freindly and welcoming and were happy to help. We had a 1 or 2 problems at the begining of our stay but staff tried there best to solve them as quick as they could. There was lots to do in the hotel the enternainres provided activities to do during the day for all ages bingo, water polo and spanish classes for kid and a Monday market walk. The entermaint at night starts at 8 and finishe at 12 again there is something for everyone. The hotel also runs a party bus at the end of the enteranmeint to take you to 007 nightclub which was brilliant. The food was good there was always something different and there is a range of fresh fruit. The bar had a range of cocktails and drink highly recommeneed the sex on the beach cocktail. The hotel and pools were always clean. Rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels given on request. The hotel was a 15 to 20 minute walk to the beach and some good shops and thhe hotel provides a shuttle bus we used this a few times but the walk down is lovely. All together we had a great time in this hotel and will defentely be going back in the near future. The enternainers and holiday reps were ace. Thank You Very Much xx

Arrived back from Hotel Villamarina on 12th June
This is my families second year at this hotel and
my kids aged 11 and 3 enjoyed it just as much as last year.
The food was fabulous once again.
What stands out about this hotel for me is the managment and
staff, they are all so helpful and friendly.
They all remembered us from last year and are great with
the kids.
The snack bar is great if you do not want to go to dinning room all the time.
I will be going back again next year, cant wait.

Travelled to this hotel on 4th june on arrival we could not occupy our room until 12.30pm, but this was no problem we sat on terrace in the lovely sunshine. We were in room 412 on 4th floor tidy basic room with small bolcany, but perfect for sleeping at night. A distance from salou centre and beach, but a nice walk to both. Great rooftop terrace adults only, and drinks when ever you needed one. Food was good, good joice, hot, well presented, pounds have piled on having 3 meals a day. Staff great, spanish and english. Hotel was very clean, rooms done every day. We had a great time and would return again.
