From start to finishe this was a great holiday, we had a 2 bed apartment which was huge, seperat longe, bathroom with bidi, 2 bedrooms and a bed in the longe area as we were a family of 5, large balcony, even had a washing machine, close to shops, 10 min walk to the beach. Main hotel was always very clean and nice smelling. Fodd was fantatstic - someting for everyone, always fresh food and even a carvery. Entertainment good for kids and adults. pool area clean, and always food available around the pool. Staff were friendly, what more can I say, definatley worth the money we paid for it - excellent.

Returned 2 days ago, having spent a week there: 2 adults, 3 teenagers (13,15,17 yrs. Can't comment on the rooms as we were offered a great apartment instead: 2 bedrooms, kitchen including washing machine, lounge, large balcony, own sunroof + use of private pool - only 2 min walk from main hotel.
Food was great: UK orientated but some Spanish dishes, always hot, fresh and good variety with a carvery every day;takeaway food (freshly made pizza, hotdogs, burgers, wedges, etc) available all afternoon and late evening from poolside bar.
Pools are a bit small but 2 of them and plenty of outside seating around pools and on sun terrace outside main entertainment room. Adult-only sunroof with bar, jacuzzi, etc if want some child-free time.
Entertainment: something for everyone - children's in main room till about 8pm, then adult quizzes, bingo, cabaret, etc.
Staff: ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! Reception are easily approachable and always helpful; bar staff are excellent, always smiling and friendly (especially Jesus!), good with the children and always happy to help.
Hotel is spotless, good location: about 15 min walk from beach but free shuttle buses provided, short bus ride from Port Aventura and Aquapolis, plenty of local shopping available.
If you're looking for a family holiday, you won't get much better for the value! Already booking to return next year!

Hotel from hell but lets face it a holiday is what you make it this hotel wasn’t for us but it did suit other family’s.
Ok let’s start with the good point’s as there’s not many
The food was ok most days and there was a good variety of drink’s on offer.
The entertainment was brilliant after ten o’clock and the rep’s were very helpful.
Now the bad point’s
The hotel as a whole wasn’t clean, the bar area was very noisy until 12.30 in the morning.
The kids run riot, banging on doors all evening. The cleaners were very miserable and they only make the bed, nothing else.
The safe isn’t very big along with the room and balcony (if you are in a room between 199-212 lucky you you’ve got a big balcony)
The pools at first look reasonably sized but there cluttered with kids so you can’t swim in them.
The views are fantastic if you like looking at other buildings.
If you like bingo your in luck bad luck if you don’t including the afternoon bingo and the evening bingo you will not see any change from €16 which I think is rip off.
Over all I would never go to this hotel again. But I would visit Salou as it is our 2nd time here and we love Salou.
PORT AVENTURA
The Port Aventura Theme Park very pricey so we wore expecting are fantastic day out. This wasn’t the case.
There was a lot of good rides like the stampida and the other big roller coasters, but the queues are like being at Alton towers really it is Alton towers nothing more and nothing less.
Food and drink is reasonably priced considering you are purchasing from a theme park.
Salou is beautiful. Lots of shops and a nice long beautiful prominade to walk down extremely flat which is ideal for the less mobile wheel chairs and pushchairs very good bus services to go to many different places which you can catch along the prominade.

We have just returned from the Villamarina Club in Salou.
We had read the reviews and thought sounds good so we were really looking forward to this holiday.
We arrived Sunday 17 and were given a room on the first floor which was right beside the tree just above the entertainment and sun terrace. We had our 2 year old granddaughter with us.
Well the entertainment started and the noise was horrendous. We had expected this but never in a million years would I have thought they would have put us in the noisiest room in the hotel especially with a 2 year old.
We couldn't wait till 12.30 every night till there was some kind of peace. The little one couldn't even hear her DVD player when it was on. She was terrified of the noise that was made during the entertainment and once it was finished.
We went down the next morning and spoke to reception and asked if they could possibly move us as we wouldn't be able to put up with that racket for six more nights and how it was affecting the little one.
Well it went on deaf ears and the most annoying thing is that people arrived and left daily all they had to do was move us just accross the corridor where we would have been facing the pool.
We spoke to half a dozen people who said that they couldn't have coped if they had been given that room especially with a 2 year old on board.
Our granddaughter loved the park but unfortunately although it stated no ball games the boys played there with a ball and yes the ball hit my little granddaughter and took the breath away from her but luckily this was our last day and we couldn't wait to get home. I & J Scotland

We were well pleased with our stay at Villamarina.
The rooms were small and basic but were more than adequate with modern furnishings and modern fitted en-suite.
Yhere was noise during the evening, but you cant really expect silence when 300 or so guests are being entertained, there was no bad behaviour and all noise ceased at 12.30 followed by a good night's sleep.
Our last three holidays involved being 'spoiled' by the catering on a cruise ship, the food at Villamarina was almost as good as the ship's catering. Plenty of choice, well presented well cooked and regularly replenished we enjoyed every morsel.
No shortage of crockery, cutlery or glassware though two toasters was a bit less than was really needed we were able to enjoy toast every morning.
Excellent pools and sunbathing facilities included three hottubs and a child free area on the roof, also a mini gym up there. Only letdown was lack of a no-smoking area outside, everywhere we sat we ended up with smokers sitting beside us, swomething that could easily be remedied.
Did not meet one drunk during our stay, though in common with all hotels I am sure Villamarina has their fair share of these.
Surrounding area was very clean, including the beaches which were around a 15 min walk from the hotel.

My partner and i was told that this was a quiet hotel - HA
The only good thing about this place was the bar and cleaning staff,
1. the rooms are tiny, with camp beds that slide together - and apart quite often as they are on wheels.
2. the balcony well - only enough room to stand on - most of the hotel is in the shade anyway.
3. the pools were very small and freezing cold.
4. the so called solarium - what a laugh - a not so hot tub and 2 tredmills on the bar roof.
5. the food - if you could call it that - if it did not have labels on them - most of the time this was the only way to recognise. it.. have had better school diners.
6. for a hotel with over 300 guests the restaurant only had 2 machines to make toast - can't call them toasters - bread goes on a conveyor belt 3 slices at a time and takes approx 3-5 passes to get it a little brown.
7. don't leave your food on the table unattended - it wont be there when you get back - the staff clear the table and then you have to queue all over again.
8. not enough cutlery or glasses in the diner hall.
then if you do manage to survive that part -
the first night we were there we had to witness a man being sick on the bar table and then he just got up and left.
the parents let their kids run riot - we were not told that there was a film shown in the courtyard every night about 10.30pm - imagine 30++ kids running riot with this blaring outside the room.
the entertainment is quizzes - bingo at least 4time a day and crap entertainment. Heard better in some kareoke bars.
people were having partys in their rooms till the early hours - the police were called a few times.
kids playing football in the corredors and using the in house phone to make calls all times of the day and night.
We were told that this hotel was 400 metres from the beach - it's a good 45minute walk - they avertise a free bus service - this is a joke - a people carrier of sorts - seats 4-5
and a taxi costs between 6 - 8 euro's each way - depending on which time of the day.
We had to eat out most of the time - which added to the cost of the holiday - when we con-plained to first choice and gave them a dvd with the evidence - all we received was £84.00.
We were not the only ones that complained about this and the hotel rep was very rude and unhelpful.
If you want to take day trips - then arrange them yourself - its cheaper and you will get to stay their longer.
If you want to eat out then go to the El Torro restaurant (near Macdonalds) the food is excellent.

we were moved to this hotel from another in cap salou, which is much quieter. i didn't like the hotel on first impression, but it was raining & everyone was crammed in to the hotel. We were also in an apartment, which were great & at first the only thing that kept us there. Having said that though, this hotel is okay for what you pay. The main function room & the restaurant are very basic & need an upgrade with better decoration & furniture. However, as it was halloween the staff had really gone to town & decorated the hotel, including a cauldron with mist coming out of it on reception. As the weather was mixed all of the staff worked really hard to entertain everyone, putting on extra activities. The food was very english, but loads of it & hot & the staff were nice. It was similar to a canteen though. The hotel was continually being cleaned & is one of the cleanest I have been in. The apartments are a bit of a walk away which was awkward as my Dad is disabled and the exit to them is on a back street where a number of hoemless people hung around for food. I wouldn't let my daughter walk there alone. I liked the area the hotel was in, but it is away from the main drag. all in all I thought it was an acceptable hotel for families with friendly staff.

Me and my partner stayed at the Villa Marina Hotel in Salou. When we arrived the girl at reception was polite and courteous and done a grand job. We must have looked a couple of plonkers as we couldn't suss out how to open the door with the swipe card!!! The apartment was small but we were only there to sleep in it so it was ok. The only negative thing i would say about the room was the toilet. There was a horrible smell coming from the pipes, it was that bad i dreaded having to go for a shower. We felt it was more catered for families. The entertainment at night was alright but most nights we would go to the local pub instead. During the day we would walk down to the beach which is a good 30-40 mins walk as trying to find a sun lounger at the pool (in the sun) was a nightmare. The food was good you have a different choice everyday and there is always something for everyone. Overall, the hotel needs a few changes and once that is done it will be brand new!! Barman Jesus goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and is very friendly!

We recently spent a week at the Villa Marina (2 Adults & 1 Child)and what an experience!!!!
Can't really fault the hotel for cleanliness and staff co-operation. Food was ok, but basic. A bit more variety would be good as it was quite repetitiive and maybe some staff to oversee the buffet as some guests were running a mock with their helpings etc.
The bar food was ok but a little cold.
The childrens' entertainment was fantastic and the team work really hard to make sure all the kids enjoy themselves.
A decent hotel spoiled by it's guests' as some seemed to forget that personal hygiene is a must in such a warm climate. Espsecially when people have to queue up next to them in the restaurant etc.
This hotel seems to appeal to those in the lower end of the social spectrum.
Don't expect too much...You get what you pay for!!!

Well! If I had written this review at the beginning of my holiday I'd have given them a 1/10 rating! However as the days went on I realised that the tiny rooms were bearable.
We were a party of 5 (2 adults, 2 kids and 1 infant) and we all had to share one bedroom (none of the "other" for me!) 4 single beds and a cot in one room can get bery cramped! Having said that we were offered a room in the apartment across the road but as this was on the 4th floor I didnt want to take it in case the little one climbed up onto the balcony and fell, so we opted for the teeny weeny room with even teenier balcony!! The room did have a lovely bathroom tho! which was large compared to the overall size of the room. If we do go back next year (the kids are already begging to!) Id make sure we had a bigger room, apparently some have kitchens and washing machines but Im not 100% sure how true this is. The beds were made every day and the rooms cleaned. Beds and Towels changed too regularly too.
The Staff - the Reception staff are all very friendly. The bar staff are too and the ladies in the Restaurant are really nice too. Not once did they take our plates without asking if we were finished and we were never hurried out. There is a large turn over of people, so they do have to get tables cleared quickly.
The food - in the restuarant was great. Definitely something for everyone from a cooked breakfast to a contintental every day, toast, fruit, meats, cheese. Lunch was great too and the choice at night was fab from traditional spanish dishes to pork vindaloo and chicken fajitas to chicken nuggets to pasta and the FAB carvery YUMMY!!!! the desserts were great too which aint good for your waistline unfortunately lol
The snack bar - the kids enjoyed the food here too although I dont think anything they ever got was that hot!!! this could definitely be improved upon.
there were also the occasional BBQs on the terrace.
The Pools - were FREEZING but that is typical of this time of year and once you got in it was ok! There is a baby pool with an adjoining pool with a max depth of 140 and the pool next to the snack bar is slightly shallower. The sun loungers are a bit dated and in need of replacing as quite a lot were collapsing whilst people were lying on them lol. All pool areas including beds were hosed down every night.
Entertainment - was FAB! the kids loved the shows as much as us and there was definitely something for everyone from bands to parrot shows and Elvis !!!! The Entertainment team were second to none and although my kids were either too old or too young for the kids club they still loved every bit of there stay and got involved with the entertainment team in other ways like rifle shooting/water polo/football. They had an outdoor cinema playing movies for the kids and also a new little play park which our little guy LOVED!
The only down side was the noise. Our room overlooked the outdoor terraced area which was noisy once we'd gone to bed after the show but the staff made sure everyone was cleared by roughly 12.30am. Oh and the 2 euro for the pool tables!
The courtesy bus ran very frequently to the beach but as it really was only 15 mins max to the beach and that was stopping off for the wee guy to play in the fountains, so we didnt use it.
PORTAVENTURA is a must! We all loved it. bought a one day ticket from the hotel thinking we wouldnt go more than one day but luckily another lovely guest gave us their 7 day pass and we managed another day. Would recommend getting the 7 day pass.
Think I've gone on long enough now! The kids had a ball and would love to go back so that kinda says it all for me. If they're happy - Im happy. In my opinion there is something for everyone at the Villa Marina. oh and I am one of those mothers who enjoy lying by the pool whilst my kids play but I am on holiday too afterall!!!! Enjoy!

Having just returned i thought i would add my comments...Stayed for a week with 3 friends and although we were booked into the hotel we were actually put in the apartments, which i must say were fantastic, if you get offered them then accept, they could do with a fresh coat of paint but it was the end of the seasonafter all so grubby walls were to be expected, the apartments were 2 mins from the hotel... food and entertainment were excellent, something for everyone.. Tiny, Liz and the rest of the entertainers do an excellent job in entertaining young and old alike. The hotel staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Some people have been complaining about kids running around, but u got to remember they are on holiday also..
I would certainly go back again..
Keep up the good work.

We arrived at the Villa marina club and our first impressions were than it was very clean. There was 2 adults and 2 children (aged 5 and 12) and the children loved it. We liked our room, it was quite simple. The food was great, too. Loads of variety but there is lots of ques at dinner. It is close to the shops and the beach, both handy if you have older children. Overall- This holiday is the best we've ever been on and im very pleased with it.
I'd recomend it to anyone who has kids.
