the Dimitra Hotel is a lovely family run Hotel basic but very clean and well run with sea veiws from the rooms we would recomment it to anyone we had a lovely stay here. The only problem was the flight we had with Olympic holidays we assumed they had their own Airline but they use Sky Wings Airline and that is a differnet matter 5 hours delay going out (no one tells you what is happening) and the plane was filthy with the seats all torn and some trays would'nt go down, one passenger was given cellotape to stick theirs up and when they asked for more when it wouldn't stick was told they hadn't an endless supply, the return flight didn't get any better another 5 hour delay as it was the same flight as the week before no surprise there, each Olympic rep had a different story one was an act of god, so god sruck twice in a week, another was bad weather over Athens but no other airlines had any trouble with it. So the moral of this story is check who you are flying with and if its Sky Wings avoid it like the plague.

  • Advice: its quite a lot of walking up hills not good if you have mobility problems

The Dimitra is a 2 star hotel which in my opinion should have more stars. The rooms are basic but are kept extremely clean. There is air conditioning in the rooms which you can have for a small charge. The views from the room balcony are panoramic. There are 2 nice pools, one for the children and the other for adults and they are kept in pristine condition. The breakfast is nice and varied each morning. The hotel is in an excellent location and you will have good nights sleep as it is quiet. Maria and Dimitris who run the hotel are very friendly and cannot do enough to help you plus the maids do a very good job. I have been going here for 14 years , twice a year. I am on my own now and still keep returning because I feel safe and secure. I can thoroughly recommend Maria's Greek salad which is scrumptious. I have a lot of friends from around the world whom I have met at the Dimitra and who I see from time to time as they keep coming back. The location is good as the Star Beach is about 10 minutes away and is very good for the children. The bus stop is minutes away and you can visit other resorts for a couple of Euros. I usually walk along the beach Road into Stalis which is a lovely wee resort. I am on the starting blocks for my next visit.

A Great Hotel

This was the 5th year in a row that we stayed at the Dimitra. The reason we keep coming back is the friendly staff and the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms.
Located in the quieter part of Hersonissos but within 10 mins of the busy town centre and picturesque harbour.
Star beach resort is only 5 mins walking distance.
Rooms come with air conditoning at a small extra cos but is well worth it.
It has 2 outdoor pools, small childrens pool and a good sized adults pool.
Plenty of good Tavernas and bars to choose from, our favourite is "Greek Corner" in the town centre.
Very good local bus transport within 2 mins of the hotel.

Aug 2008, Mrs Marilyn James

This hotel was a typical Greek 2 star - basic but clean and comfortable. We were expecting to pay for the air con, but were disappointed to find that a fridge was extra too. The hotel is in a quiet part of quite a lively part of Hersonissos, and not the most attractive part either. The breakfast was very basic not up to our usual 2 star. The pool was pleasant and never crowded. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from a very lively youngster resort called Star Beach. This did not worry us , infact to have had our twenty something daughters with us would have been ideal. We spent our first day on the beach here before we discovered a far more family friendly one further along the coast. Lots of lovely waterside bars to eat in if you don't mind a bit of a walk. Our biggest disappointment was the cost of an excursion with Olympic holidays to the former leper colony island of Spinalonga. They wanted 51 euros each for this trip. We did it independently using the service bus at the end of the road (a super air con luxury coach) for half of this and we didn't suffer the crowds of the Sunday excursion. We were also outraged to be picked up for the airport at 3.50a.m on our last day, only to wait for an hour standing outside until the airport opened! Our flight did not leave until7.45 a.m. I have written a formal letter of complaint. These last two problems were down to Olympic, but all in all this was a relaxing holiday and excellent value for money.

we went to the dimitra hotel in july...

we went to the dimitra hotel in july this year although the hotel was in a quiet location the hotel itself was very noisy due to teenagers shouting and slamming doors when coming in at all hours of night & early morning having no consideration for other people we did not have a decent nights sleep for the whole fortnight at one point we had to complain to the rep. herrsonnisos is geared up for teenagers so dont go there if you want any sleep when you are on holiday. I suggest the owner of the hotel needs to either have all youngsters staying there or older people because the two certainly dont mix. we will not be going back!

The Dimitra Hotel is a basic but very...

Aug 2005, Miss L J Vooght

The Dimitra Hotel is a basic but very clean accommodation in Crete. It is located about 50 metres from a very small beach, however, if you walk about 15 mins down the road there is a lovely clean beach to spend the day with lots of water sports to enjoy. The hotel itself is very basic just room with two single beds and a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet, which is small but perfectly adequate.
The rooms do have balconies however the best thing about the rooms is that they have air conditioning which cost 5 euros a day which i would say is essential in the heat it means that you can sleep with the doors closed at night. The resort of Kokini Hani is in the flight path for airplanes and is quite noisy but with the doors shut at night you can't hear them.
The pool isn’t huge but it’s clean and was always popular with the children. The hotel includes bed and breakfast, which is very simple tea, toast, and jam, however, you can have English breakfast for an extra 2 euros. The town itself has lots of little tavernas and the food was excellent, however, it is not very lively and there are only a couple of bars.
You can get an air-conditioned bus from 8 - 11pm all day to other towns and Malia for a couple of euros if you want to venture out of town. Overall the holiday was good and I was not disappointed at all. I would recommend this resort and holiday for couples looking for a relaxing break.
