Worst holiday ever, 4 adults 2 children
Hotel staff need to smile more.
Food waste of time, always cold strange smell down in dinning room the smell turned all our stomachs! Come on who wants to eat cold food all the time? Kids corner was cold chips pasta twist and cold pasta sauce most lunch and tea times.
Rooms could do with a make over mould in bathrooms
Ants all over even on verandas, infested with mozzies my mum and daughter are covered in bites went to medic centre over there and chemist and then went to our own doctors when we got back yesterday morning they said they had never seen anything like it, they were shocked.
Entertainment, what entertainment! Oscar a 1 man job in entertaining how many guests, it was a shame they need to re think what they are doing and get some better equipment to entertain people. Come on! 6 cds for round the pool and to entertain in the evening.
If you want nice food try the temple over the road Steve and Sue rustle up some lovely grub, very nice, the comedy bar down the street was nice too.

We arrived at this hotel not expecting much as we had read the previous comments, and they were all about bang on.
The food was appalling, everything tasted the same and was stone cold (apart from the salad!). Found staff generally quite pleasant and helpful, although bizarrely obsessed with cleaning (we had the dining room ceiling cleaned through lunch and chair legs painted black etc).
The pool was in a very poor state, the overhanging trees blowing leaves and branches into it constantly and was in dire need of a big overhaul as was the rest of the hotel.
The all inclusive facilities that included, in-door swimming pool, squash, sauna and steam room were virtually unusable, as was the crèche and table tennis court.
As for the entertainment... there was one skinny Spanish bloke who was there just mincing about, not doing a great deal.
We have no doubt that this was probably a lovely hotel once, as it has all the redundant features of an expensive complex.
However as it is we couldn’t possibly recommend it to anyone. Apart from all that we had a nice time!!

Firstly, I’ve rated this hotel 8 for value for money. It's so cheap how people can complain. You get what you pay for.
The food here was ok (all A/I hotels have microwaves in the restaurant at meal times) even 4/5 * hotels. It's not possible to keep food hot for like 3 or 4 hours.
The pool was ok, I went when it was quiet but I'm sure in the summer it's quite busy.
Don't be put off by these reviews. People low rating the hotel because it was on a hill? It is, but if you check before you book you will know this.
Decent entertainment, typically Spanish food, but you are in Spain, can’t believe people comment they can’t get chips and burgers all day every day, try some of the local cuisine, you're on holiday.
If you can afford to pay lots, go somewhere else, if you're on a budget, this hotel is decent for what you pay.

It was a shame that the staff were not more accommodating, hot drinks in thin plastic cups, Dangerous!
All inclusive guests are second class and treated as if, only allowed plastic cups foe drinks, not a comfortable existence. Food was bland, wine was allways warm with meals, no attention to detail, but it was only £16.50 per night but with a little effort it could have been great value, I shall spend more on hotel next jaunt and get better value for money!!!

We went on this holiday with trepidation because of the comments we had read. On arrival about 10.30pm we enquired about food and were told to hurry as the snack bar closed at 11pm. We both managed to have Hot Dog and Chips which was O.K. The room was clean and was kept clean with clean towels every day, the sheets were changed twice the week we were there.
Food Breakfast poor choice of cereal apart from that OK cooked breakfast every day. Other meals were fine as far as choice was concerned but did tend to be on the cool to cold side. You did get a free bottle of wine if you wanted it at lunch and dinner.
Bar. The service could be slow at busy times but that was due to shortage of staff. I also wish that people would stop complaining about the Spanish guests. It's their country and surely they are allowed holidays too. I didn’t notice any favoritism. I would say that it was an average 3 star hotel and it didn't cost much. I wouldn't go AI again.

Hotel was changed with 4 days notice from Cambrils Playa to Venecia Park.
Bar service worst I have ever seen. Only one staff member serving at peak times (Deliberately going slow) and guests had to wait up to 30 minutes to get a drink on many occasions, I had to go over the road to the pub one night because the service was so bad.
There was no proper management of the bar area and several guests were still being served after they were well and truly drunk. Bad language in the bar area was common place and a fight broke out on one occasion.
The rooms were in need of modernisation but were not to bad for the price paid. We thought the food was very good but the staff were not very helpful if you had a problem.
The outside pool was tatty and the stage area was derelict and the entertainment was poor. On the positive side there were 3 really nice beaches nearby and the weather was brill.
To sum up if you have children or don’t like bad language give this hotel a miss.

The hotel was clean, clean towels every day. Staff were very helpful. Would not go back. It was up a hill.
And I have bad joints so cannot walk very far. We got to the hotel at 10:30 am the room was ready.
The food was cold so you had to use a microwave you should not have to do that at all.

Overall we had a pretty rubbish holiday at this hotel would not go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Reception staff were ok bar staff if you kept at them you got a wee smile. The food was terrible and the snacks you only get a choice of 5 things which we got sick of after 2nd day.
The swimming pool was always freezing as this area (which is the main area) doesn't get the sun until early afternoon, it also had loads of loose tiles on the floor which people were getting cut on all the time. The indoor gym is just some very old weights thrown into a wee room in the basement.
The rooms were pretty decent kept well clean & tidy maybe just a wee bit modernisation required.
Overall opinion. Stay well clear! The only good thing about hotel is the steps leading out of the place.
P.S. Apart from that the main resort of Salou was really nice, you must visit Port Aventura if you get the chance 10/10.

We Went to Salou on a family holiday in September 2006, we went as a group of 6 adults.
When arriving at the hotel we thought all the reviews we had read we a load of rubbish the hotel was very clean and looked nice (don’t let this fool you) we checked in and were given our keys.
Once in the rooms these also looked very clean basic but clean until we saw ants crawling across the floor that is, also I sat on the end of my bed and it collapsed when looking underneath we realised a leg was missing luckily we had 3 beds in our room and only two people so it wasn’t a problem. Once we’d unpacked we went to the bar for a snack which was a choice of hotdogs chicken nuggets cheeseburger or chips. (The only thing I would advise to eat from there is his chicken nuggets they are not real chicken but are the only thing available that is eatable.
We were still trying to see the positive side of things and decided dinner would be better, but we were very wrong all the food on every meal was cold even if you got there for opening time (cakes for desert were nice) all the food was directed at the Spanish which the hotel was full of so we ate out most meal times after going to see the food on offer.
Couldn’t fault the drink its what you would get at most pubs in Spain local makes etc but the staff are solo slow and if a Spanish guest walked to the bar even if you were waiting they got served 1st which was very rude, also all drinks a served in plastic half pint glasses which was annoying for the men who are used to pints but not the end of he world.
All in all we were not happy with the holiday at all we have listed below the good points we could think of. But wouldn’t advise this hotel to anyone
* always plenty of sunbeds left no need to go down at 7:00 in the morning to grab some we went down at 11:00 someday and still go some.
* Lovely Irish pub across the road and up to the right slightly, happy hours 3 times a day and great food at reasonable prices
*weather was very good infact to hot at times.
Also we just remembered to mention port adventura is a waste of time if going at this time a year if you wanted to see shows as everyone we tried to go and see we were told they had finished for the season, also don’t do night shows anymore which they didn’t tell us at the gate when we bought a day and night pass. We knew nothing of this until 8:00 in the evening when we were told to get out as they were closing (and no we didn’t get our money back) all in all not one of our best holidays but if you can put up with the things above then I take my hat off to you.

From what it said in the book with the details about it, it sounded good: indoor pool, outdoor pool, squash courts, saunas etc.
Well, the indoor pool was just about big enough to lay down in, the sauna didn't work once and the outdoor pool had loose tiles n stuff at the bottom which cut my little toe. Also the food was terrible, I didn’t eat at the all-inclusive restaurant once, I had to go to local restaurants and bars.
Thank god for the Red Lion and lastly don’t go there.

We were dreading this holiday as most of the reviews were very negative, and as I was 17 weeks pregnant I was not looking forward to it.
Overall it wasn't that bad. The hotel was clean although the bathroom could've done with updating. The pool needed maintaining, as it had a few broken tiles and could've been cleaned a bit more often.
The food was very nice and plenty of choice every day. The staff in reception were very nice but the staff at the bar and in the restaurant could do with a few lessons on how to smile!
There was a good choice of alcoholic drinks for the A.I guests although I only had soft drinks!, and they were available from 10am - 12MN. They were a bit antisocial in the way they just turned off the lights at midnight.
The location of the hotel suited us too, plenty of surrounding bars but not noisy, lovely smaller beaches within walking distance and the main beach and shops 15-20 min walk along the beach front.
Although there are a few things they could do to improve the hotel I'm giving it a good rating because we did enjoy our stay there.

After reading the previous reviews, i was worried about what we were going to expect. So much so in fact, that i tried to change from this hotel to another prior to departing, however there were no vacancies in Salou. So we had no choice other than to go to this hotel.
Upon arrival the receptionist was very pleasant and advised us of our room, where to eat etc etc.
We got a drink and had a snack within a couple of minutes of arriving with the service ok.
I hope that i can put your minds at rest about this hotel, it is nowhere near as bas as has been made out. The hotel is clean, with maid service daily and towels changed also.
The food is average, normally two fish dishes, pork or beef, pasta and on occasions there are roast beef/ roast pork carvery and Paella - all to reasonable quality.
My wife is a pretty fussy eater however, every night there was something which she and the two children ate. I think people should realise that if you wish to sample foreign climes then there are things which will not be to your liking, ie food types. However i don't suppose that if there were French/ Italian visitors to this country that they would be happy eating our food for a week. At meal times all drinks are still included and with you meals, lunch or dinner you can have a bottle of wine.
My main complaint, is the fact that all drinks are served in small plastic cups, i found no evidence of bar staff deliberately serving slowly. However they are busy and bearing in mind the size of the cups, it would be a smart move to serve in normal sized glasses, this would slow down the amount of times that you would have to visit the bar, thus freeing up the drink queues.
The entertainment was quite poor, again there is no advantage in the hotel employing the best of variety entertainment as this would encourage people to stay in the hotel all night drinkling at the hotels expense. However there was a kids entertainer who kept the kids going every night for a couple of hours with the usual cha cha slide etc etc and during the day there were various activities that he organised.
Overall a good holiday at a reasonable price, incidentally on our day of departure we required a room and the charge was only 20 euros.
The safe was 2 euros a day with a 10 euro deposit and the TV was a 30 euro deposit although there was only CNN as an English speaking channel.
Salou is a lovely resort and this hotel is in a quiet area, with no rowdiness in our hotel as the bar area is cleared for 12pm every night. For a family on a budget i would have no problem in recommending this hotel Where else can you receive an all 0inclusive holiday for a family of four for £1200 for a week in an air conditioned room which in our case had a double and two single beds and we still had room to move.
The Ritz this ain't, however it a perfectly reasonable hotel, so stop complaining, go on holiday and enjoy.
