I found Elounda to be a very nice place to stay, situated in a lovely spot just over the hill from Agios Nicolaos. I have to say on our two week vacation, my girlfriend and I were quite content lazying on the man made beach and pottering Elounda and ag nic. We then decided... more

Highs and Lows
The hotel is basic but nice, it has a pool and a nice but basic rooms. We and a few other guests had bubbling toilets which were annoying and were not fixed, which caused annoyance. There were only i and my girlfriend at the start of the week at the hotel and the number slowly increased to about 10. Therefore the hotel was quiet. The buffet meal that was supposed to be provided did not exist, it was a waiter served meal which some of the guests did not like. The owner Anna seemed to be nice, but was very sarcastic at times and didnt like to do much work, the lasyness was a collective attitude of the family. Airconditioning is an extra charge and not really worth it. Overall the hotel was ok, but the service could have been alot better and friendlier.
loved krini hotel
stayed in aug this year expecting quite basic hol. exceeded all expectations!! food was basic but always something for everyone! owners and staff could not be faulted always at hand to help even when faced with difficult guests who maybe expect more from a 2*!!! Elounda itself has fantastic people, beach and as a relaxing hol has everything you need. thankyou Anna and all!!
Thankyou
I had the best holiday ever i think that they had the mostf friendliest people in the hotel especially Manole and Cleo patra i would like to say a big hello to them. Thankyou again and we will hopefully be coming next year bye Corinne
Small Friendly Hotel, Great location
The Krini Hotel is small, basic and good fun. The food is very nice - the hotel seems to work on a 7 day menu cycle so if you stay for 2 or more weeks you will experience the same dishes throughout your stay. Having said that the variety of food is good and there are plenty of dishes for vegetarians; the salads are great. If you are booking an all inclusive holiday be aware that the entertainment is limited. During the two weeks I was there we had 4 entertainment nights including two 20 question quiz nights and a games night that lasted 40 minutes! The Greek dancing night was great and the guy's, including the barman, get you involved - a great hour and you really get into the swing of things. In fact, the entertainment is the only criticism I would offer. If you compare it to other all-inclusive holidays you will be disappointed - and not everything that is advertised as free (pool tables and table football) is - this is the fault of the Travel Company (their information is inconsistent or just plain wrong) not the hotel. The hotel is fine, the location is good (close to Elounda / archeological sites / mountains and a long-way from Malia!) and the staff and Cretan people, like all Greeks, are very friendly. Go for the weather, scenary, Cretan hospitality and location.
Thank you Anna
We got a fantastic deal to stay in the krini all inclusive july of this year. As previous reviews have mentioned the food was basically what we expected for the price we paid. The staff were generally very helpfull. But what was what i would class as outstanding genuine service and friendliness was the way the hotel manager ANNA handled our unfortunate situation of having to depart 4 days early due to illness in the family. She was fantastic and did her utmost to help us in the stressfull time we spent trying to get home. THANK YOU ANNA!!!!!!Unfortunately i cant give you the same good review for the olympic rep (I will leave nameless) but I must stress Elounda and the Krini hotel are fabulous and you will have a fantastic holiday.P.S. hire a car the island is beautiful and well worth the money to look about and see the sites.
Got back today - wish I was still there!
Just got back today from a week at the Krini Hotel, which my friend and I booked at the last minute. We couldn't believe our luck - all inclusive food and drink, for less than we paid the other year for self catering? We were convinced there would be a catch, but no, there wasn't. Well, you can only take advantage of the offer at selected times of the day, for example, you have to wait until about 12pm until you can have your first inclusive drink, even if it's water - but after then , you really can have as much as you like. And they are so generous with their shots of alcohol! Ask for a Vodka and Lemonade, and you'll wonder when they're going to start pouring the lemonade... it's great! The only other complaint we had was the breakfast - it's pretty limited. But the other meals are excellent. You get a good choice at lunchtime, and the evening meals were faultless, we thought. There's a lot of choice, for example there's always a load of salad if you don't happen to like the meat they've got. It's true that some guests were disappointed with the hotel - but we also spoke to people who were there for the third year running. We had a really good time, and for what we paid, we could not fault it.
holiday
mr,mrs Mccracken loved the people in the hotel, the problem was the food people should be warned about the fishing as husband got caught out by a scorpion fish and ended in hospital still in pain after three weeks.
Enjoy your stay we certainly did
Just returned from a superb two week stay in the krini hotel (28/06). The hotel is very friendly, very clean, the staff are helpful, entertaining and the food is limited but good. A family run hotel - Anna, George, Nikos and Maria are all lovely. Nikos And Manolis are a great double act. Manolis, like most of the people we met in Crete is friendly and courteous to the extreme. A hard working individual who deserves a commendation. A mention must also go to Cleopatra aka Alex, a beautiful young lady (my son Tim was smitten) with a very pleasant nature. She speaks fleunt english so can help you with many enquiries. There are a few things you need to be aware of. Make friends with the staff and you will I'm sure have a wonderful time, This may mean partying until the early hours. If this is not your scene ask for a room at the back of the hotel, it gets loud. There were the inevitable complainers......Too hot, Too cold, too expensive etc. Why do these people go abroad? Some we met had only paid £99 for two weeks and still found reasons to complain. As you may already have gleened from other reports this is a 2 star hotel and does not offer the same as carribean hotels of greater expense..Why would you expect that. However some do!!! The rooms are air conditioned, however there is a charge of 8 euro's per day, if you are a family the chances are you will have two rooms as we did. This makes the cost of a/c prohibitive, the heat takes a lot of getting used to. Staying in Elounda was relaxing and very enjoyable and the laid back, friendly attitude of the hotel helped make a truly wonderful holiday! As the hotel is relativley small you can make friends with most if not all the guests, this for us made our holiday so much more enjoyable. We would certainly go again and recomend it without hesitation
Top Hotel, Top Holiday!!
Just returned from a fantastic two week stay in the krini hotel. Got a very good deal and definately got more than my money's worth! The hotel is very friendly, very clean, the staff are helpful, entertaining and the food is limited but good. It is a family run hotel - Anna, George, Nikos and Maria are all lovely. It has an 'experienced' barman, Manolis, who can whip up lethal cocktails in seconds!!! Look out ladies! ;) It is ideally located with a ten minute walk to the main part of elounda, five minutes walk will take you to a beautiful quiet beach but the main golden sandy beach is in elounda square itself. Everyone around elounda is very friendly and happy to help. The people staying in the hotel were some of the friendliest i have ever encountered abroad. Staying in Elounda was relaxing and very enjoyable and the laid back, friendly attitude of the hotel helped make a truly wonderful holiday! If you are planning or have booked a holiday there i am very jealous...i would have happily stayed there!! NB. Dont pay over the odds for it...it is advertised as C class and thats what is provided. No frills attached but perfectly adequate.
best hol ever
Just back from 2 weeks at Krini and have had a brilliant time.We have been all over world from Singapore, Seychelles,Caribean,12 different states in america, Africa and all over Europe so you can see we are well travelled. We booked 2 weeks before we went and we were very apprehensive after reading reveiws on web, I even telephoned Olympic hols for reasurance.Arrived 4am after almost 4 hours transfer and was pleasantly surprised as people were being dropped off at some awful isolated places. We booked this hotel because it was in Elounda which is a beautiful place in a wonderful scenic setting.the Krini is run by Anna who is cypriot and her husband George, treat them with respect and they will be friendly with you.As an all inclusive it is limited.so dont compare it to 5 star caribean. We met some lovely people and we got what we expected from this 3 star hotel
