Krini Hotel

Have just returned from Krini Beach hotel ,what a brilliant hotel spotlessly clean, very good sized bedrooms and well furnished.
My wife has disability problems but we were offered a choice of 2 different rooms, both like the rest of the hotel very easily accessible for wheelchairs.
The food can only be described as excellent, good choice , well presented and plentiful.
The majority of the visitors to the hotel are Dutch and Belgian with a few French. Most were very friendly and easy to get on with. The staff were spot on, very helpful ,and very polite.
The All Inclusive package worked very well. Soft drinks, water, tea, coffee, and beer were all self service both in restaurant and pool bar.
The garden and pool area are well laid out with plenty of sunloungers and tables and chairs.
One minor complaint is that the hotel cats came into the dining room begging food but this was mainly a problem created by fellow holidaymakers putting food on the floor for them.
One major complaint is the heavy smoking in the dining room whilst people were still eating.
My wife and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good quality break based in a quiet resort. If you want the night life, Rethymnon is a ten euro taxi ride away - day time catch the bus which runs every 30 minutes and it stops 100 metres always and costs 1.5 euro.
There are four tavernas within 200 metres if you want a change of scenery and a supermarket 100 metres away.
We booked this holiday with Sunescapes and they did for us what they said they would do and we have no complaints at all.

I found Elounda to be a very nice place to stay, situated in a lovely spot just over the hill from Agios Nicolaos. I have to say on our two week vacation, my girlfriend and I were quite content lazying on the man made beach and pottering Elounda and ag nic.
We then decided to hire a car and travel for our last three days, which I have to say was a bit of a waste of time. We didn’t travel very far west, as Crete is bigger than you think, but we never found anywhere as nice as where we were or people as friendly as in Elounda, they are very accommodating and friendly and I would recommend the small resort to any one. The only reason I would not go back is because I’ve now been there!
The hotel was basic but the staff were very nice, the only problem for us was the other guests who were very noisy late at night. Having said that it is definitely more suited for families than couples as this seemed to be the majority. The food was good, but Elounda has some good restaurants and eating at the same place gets boring, so next time I will prob go B&B and eat out.
There are some good untouched archaeological sites and other things not too far away and I preferred them to the bigger well known ones such as Knossos. So get a quad bike and go local, don’t bother travelling half a day for nothing in a car! My two favourites were the leper island (cant remember name! - Spinalonga - ED) and the snorkelling in the lush clear water, you can go by boat or looking out from Elounda to the right, over the hill is a lovely secluded spot where I floated around for at least an hour a day looking at the many different fish.
