Eri apartments are basic but clean....

Eri apartments are basic but clean. There is no air conditioning so extremely un-pleasant at night. Fan hire is available but still not sufficient. The views from our apartment overlooked the sea which was lovely.
However, the balconies were small and narrow so you couldn't spend the last part of the evening relaxing in the night air. The nearest bar is directly underneath. English run it is friendly and offers food all day long.
The nearest beach is a 5 min walk but not very nice. There is another on the other side of town (approx 15 mins walk) which is sandier and has water sports.
Elounda itself is unspoilt and can be reached via a 10 to 15 mins walk along the main road or along the sea front. Some lovely restaurants line the sea front walk. The food in the ones we tried was superb.
There are enough bars and restaurants around to eat somewhere different every night on a 2 week holiday. Shopping is restricted but there are enough supermarkets and gift shops in the town to get by. Ag Nik is only 20 mins by car or bus which has more hustle and bustle but after a few days in Elounda you realise how stress free life is.
In summary: - One of our best holidays. Lovely walks, food, scenery and people. Would definitely return, but only to accommodation that has air conditioning.

We have just returned from the best...

We have just returned from the best holiday we’ve had in many years. Elounda is paradise, friendly bars, tavernas, locals, beautiful beaches, easy bus routs, plenty to see and do. HOWEVER I would never ever use Olympic holidays again they are awful and the worst tour operator I’ve ever used...in spite of that Elounda is perfect.
The beach is two minutes away from Eri. The studios are clean and well kept and their proximity to excellent bars and tavernas is a total bonus. Elounda is a peaceful place so its proximity to the bars and tavernas is no problem for noise, the nosiest thing in the villages is the sea!! The best bar is Oasis at the end of the lane, and the best taverna is Mams at the top of the hill off the causeway.
The Tavernas beyond this point are all very expensive but there are plenty of tavernas before this point so there are no problems at all eating well and cheaply, on the sea front.
The larger beach has less pebbles but because of this it’s very busy we used the closest to Eri and its just perfect, never crowded and the sea is soft warm and safe.
There are a number of walks around the villages but you must be experienced to tackle them they’re not forgiving of inexperience in any way. But if you are a walker you’ll find many beautiful and sometimes harsh walks to please.
Aghios Nikalous is 10 mins away by bus...which come every 15 minutes, and is for serious shopping!
If you visit Elounda you must go to the island of Spinolonga, the old leper Colony and venetion fortress well worth the 10 euros for the boat trip.
I will definitely be returning to Elounda and to Eri studios if possible...a perfect TEN!
