Thought the hotel looked fabulous on theit site. In fact it is very basic though clean, reception staff good. Brochures show the dining room to have table cloths, this is not so. If you get a room facing one way you overlook and are overlooked by a tenement block, most... more

Great Holiday couldn't wish for a better hotel
Just returned from a great holiday at the Sol Piramide. Although a very Spanish Hotel we were made very welcome and the language barrier not a problem, after all when in Spain do what the Spanish do. Rooms very clean and the air conditioning worked a treat. Breakfast and evening meals were above average with plenty of choice and variety every day. Pool very clean and never seemed to busy although Hotel full. This Hotel seemed to be very well run and organised and was situated in a excellent location for the centre of Salou but thankfully far enough away from the noisy centre of town. We would return tomorrow without any qualms.
A Anti-english hotel
on arrival i sensed it was'nt going to be a great week, the staff gave the impression once they knew u was english you are not welcome. suppose to be a 4star hotel is a joke no tea/coffee facilities in the room, only englsih speaking channel on t.v was bbc world what had asian based programmes all time, the staff in the restraunt was ok apart from that forget it, most nights nothing to choose to eat the odd night there was sommert it was cold, chicken wings or pork chops and when have ever heard of chips and rice being the choice for breakfast, it was are first time in salou somethings was ok like the beach and 3 pubs danny boy, fox & hounds and the brown cow which do a marvellous sunday dinner but as for this hotel give it a wide miss if you want a good holiday
good location
just arrived back from a 5 night break in Salou. was apprehensive after reading previous reviews. location of hotel was very good. bright, clean and large spacious room although only down side was view from balcony(how often are you in your room?) food was possibly not of 4 star quality but wasn't as bad as previously described, we always found something to eat the staff are all very friendly and i think if you want to find fault you always will. we had a nice relaxing break and the price we paid didn't reflect 4 star hotel anyway.
Hated every minute
Stayed in the hotel for six days - ate out on at least three occasions/don't expect to do that in a four star hotel which set the evening meal tables with paper place mats and paper napkins. The piece de resistance was one knife and fork and one glass per person on table. The food was awful - I dont expect to eat chicken wings for my main meal, fish that was stuck to the hot plate.Fresh fruit in the morning consisted of apples and apricots with an odd banana thrown in.On most occasions the salad bar was no great asset slami or cheese being the choice. We had a nice room which the sun got to about 4pm, but the downside of that was it overlooked a grotty run down flats. Its 20 yrs since we have been in Salou and it could well be another 20.Our bedroom was at the end of the corridor and the maid ran out of towels regularly so tough| - we had constantly to keep chasing them for towels and non existent bath mats.
Not The Best!!
Me and my partner have recently returned from the Sol Piramide Hotel in Salou. We stayed for 2 weeks and chose the hotel as it was conveniently located for both salou centre and the Portaventura theme park (which was great!). On arrival we were checked into a horrible room. As soon as we opened the curtains we knew we couldn't stay there, all i can describe the view of is a run down, shabby block of high rise flats, we could see straight into someones living room which wasn't a pleasent sight! (see pictures). We went straight back to reception and asked to be moved, they told us the hotel was full and we had to stay but asking to see the manager worked and we were swapped to the back of the hotel, overlooking a car park, not much better! Hotel itself wasn't too bad, food was terrible, most dishes served cold and no choice, however they do provide a microwave to ping your food and make it hot again (how thoughtful!) we ate out quite a lot but choice of food outside the hotel was either pizza or pasta. Evening entertainment was rubbish, however the spanish dancers on mon night were worth a look. Pool area in shade until lunchtime, pool stayed freezing cold all day. Salou itself very much like Blackpool, lots of "lookie lookie men" trying to sell fake sunglasses or gold plated chains, it was funny at first but did get annoying! During our stay the place was swarmed with big groups of roudy spanish lads i suppose its their version of Butlins! They all seemed to be staying in the Hotel opposite (Jamie 1) and enjoyed screaming, singing and clapping on their balcony until 4am some mornings! This could be due to a Spanish holiday (not to sure). The Portaventura theme park was good, kept us busy! It is very well themed and the shows are brilliant. It is worth buying the tickets before you go (only cost us £50 for 2 weeks each). If you get to go on any trips, the jeep safari is a lot of fun, but be prepared to get soaked (bring a water pistol!) and don't wear white! Holiday overall not the best, definately would not rate the hotel as 4 star. Would only recommend to families with kiddies who are looking for somewhere cheap.
Hen weekend in Salou
Just returned from a fabulous weekend in Salou. There were 13 of us and the holiday was bookedindependently on the internet. The hotel was great value for money, food okay, rooms spacious, staff patient and friendly. This was an ideal location for a hen weekend, plenty to do, All the bars welcolmed us and port aventura was well worth a visit. Would definetely return.
Hotel sol piramide was just ok!
the hotel was recently built and it looked nice and fresh from the outside, the rooms are very nice and clean good size, very good and friendly staff, BUT unfortuanitly the food was not to a standard of 4 star which was a pity, it also is in a very good location from the salou centre and beach as well as the exciting port aventura theme park. overalll a wud give this hotel a 3 stars n just an ok from me.
food not the usuall sol standard
nice clean hotel, large size rooms, staff very friendly and helpfull, pool a good size but be advised that the sun does not reach the pool area until lunchtime, plenty of sunbeds. hotel in a good location, nice and quiet at night. The only downside is the food, not a large selection served mostly cold and the contents of the sweet trolly are the same every evening. We have been in lots of Sol hotels and the food in this hotel is well below the standard in other Sol hotels, not a 4 star hotel in the food area.
Sol Piramide, Salou
We have just returned from our stay in the Sol Piramide, Salou. This a nice, clean hotel away from the main town of Salou, but within easy walking distance of shops, bars etc. We are a couple in our 20's and I have to admit, this hotel did seem suited to the more mature guest ;o) Saying that, there was a group of 6 troublecausers all in there 70's when we were there, ha! The hotel, whilst not being a 4 star in everyone's opinion is very comfortable. The food in the restaurant is good enough for most, with a wide choice most nights, but again may not be upto everyone's standard. We went out to eat a couple of times out of choice, not necessity. The pool area is again very clean and well maintained, but the pool is the coldest I have ever come across in my life. Mainly due to the fact that the sun doesn't hit that side of the hotel until 11am. The staff are excellent and very helpful. If you have kids the female members of staff are very attentive to them and speak excellent english, so can communicate with them easily. Overall, whilst we had a good time in this hotel I don't think we would rush back to Salou. It is a bit too "tacky" in a Blackpool kind of way, every shop selling "Rasta" figurines doesn't really do it for me! The beach and the promonade are lovely and there are a few nice bars around there. But when venturing into the rest of Salou be prepared, it's a bit like a box of chocolates... You just never know what you're gonna get!!!
enjoyed the hotel more than other reviews stated
Having read reviews prior to going to the hotel in May/June of this year, I can honestly say that the hotel was great.. we nearly cancelled the holdiay due to reading some of the comments. Yes there are plastic chairs in the dining room, but they fit in well and so what? The staff are really friendly and the manageress was so nice and polite, as were the rest of the staff. The rooms are really clean and tidy and maid service everyday. The mini fridge you can use other than for drinks and you dont get charged for it, the safety deposit box is free also. Some of the rooms don't have a nice view but we were lucky to have a sort of pool view, but when on holiday how long do you really stay in the room. Some do have adjoining rooms which could be noisey if kids were in there! We booked it as an "adult choice" hotel but, at no fault of the hotel, there were too many kids there - but there you go. There is graffiti around the hotel wall (which is only visible from the outside) and it could do with a touch of paint. The pool is surrounded by a road and was quoted in a review as "not much privacey" but it really was ok and as the hotel is only 3 years old give it a few years and the trees planted will grow. Overall I would recommend it.
