After reading previous reviews we were very dubious about the accommodation but pleasantly surprised. Rooms were basic which is expected in Greece but were very clean and well maintained.
Rooms cleaned every day and towels and bed linen changed twice a week. The restaurant is across a quiet road and tables are set under olive trees and look out over the bay of Bali.
Fabulous atmosphere to eat your meals in. Greek owner/manager who was very friendly and helpful.
If any comment was to be made it would be that the Hotel is in need of a re-vamp as it all looks a little worn.
We would certainly visit again.

On arrival we were very disappointed. The room was very depressing, tatty and smelly. The bathroom was the worst. Tiling needed grouting as it was black and smelled moldy and there was a strong smell of sewage coming from the grate.
The floor was very slipping as it was a wet room because the shower had no curtain and there was not even a shower hook although I have since been told this is the norm in Greece. The water did not run away from the shower down the grate as the floor was not sufficiently sloped. The public areas were quite good but watch out for the owner if you have teenage girls as he is quite keen I hear. Overall I loved Bali but would definitely not visit this so called hotel again.
The girl from Luton who worked in the bar left on the same day as we did and her replacement named Peter was a lovely young guy who could not do enough for us. He was from the Czech Republic and was practicing his English.

The Liza Marie is well located (the good news) but it in two halves across a main road. If you are staying in the main part of the hotel you will have to cross this road for the eating area.
The rooms at Liza Marie take the word 'basic' to a whole new level. Very poorly maintained and not cleaned every day. Fixtures and fittings falling apart. Food is reasonable without being delicious. Pool is nice but limited sunbathing area and sun beds dirty.
Friendly barmaid (from Luton) but she is leaving in August. Other staff not very accommodating. I would not go back to this hotel again.

This was my second stay at the Liza-Mari as went last year and was impressed that the Manager, Joseph remembered me! The rooms are very basic, but clean and the pool/bar areas are well maintained. The only downsides are the low-level showerheads and having to put your toilet paper in the bin! (which is common in Crete).
All the staff are very friendly as are most of the locals. June is a good time to visit Bali as it not too busy, but is hot enough to get a good tan. Meals/drinks are quite cheap-approx 12 euros for a starter, main course and small jug of wine at most tavernas.
The nearby harbour is a bit of a trek-uphill all the way there, but worth it for the lovely views. I will definitely go back again.

I was very concerned about going on my holiday because of the comments that had been written. I needn't have worried! I was staying self catering and was in an apartment set away from the main hotel.
The apartment was basic but no less than you would expect. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and we had a huge area outside the room with table and chairs big enough for a full family! The pool area was great and the staff were helpful. The area is very hilly and still had its charm.
Lots of bars and tavernas to choose from. Would I go again yes! And if the apartment had air conditioning (hotel did apartments didn’t) then I would stay at the Liza Marie again.
