Ormos Hotel

I have seen many hotels in Greece over the years, and to be honest unless you're paying top dollar you get what you pay for. The Ormos is at the middle end of the price structure, but none the less is maintained and run extremely well. The rooms are cleaned every day, with new sheets on the beds and clean towels being brought in daily. The reception is always staffed, and the barman, who despite earlier comments is actually tea total is always on hand, even if you have to wake him up for service. We found the hotel basic, clean and very quiet. We did see some people at breakfast but never when we got back from dinner in the evening, not once did we see anyone in the pub. The furniture is made of concrete and we thought it was fun and just a little quirky. It took us about 20 minutes to walk into town but we enjoy walking and didnt mind it one little bit. You dont have to walk all the way to town as there are a few restaurants on route which we tried and they were very good and just a little bit cheaper. Word of warning though if... more

My husband and I stayed at The Hotel Ormos after booking it as a last minute deal. I had read the previous reviews on this site and so was slightly apprehensive. We were very pleased with it as it was booked as part of a bargain last minute deal but were talking to people who had paid alot more for their trip, and so they were expecting better things. My partner and i have just returned from a stay in the ormos hotel. Because i had read a review on this site, I was alittle anxious about what to expect and could not fully look forward to the holiday. We found several other couples were of the same opinion , with some who had considered cancelling. We were very pleasantly surprised. If you like large concrete jungles ,dont stay here!! Its cheap, its simple its clean and its great. The hotel is small and quiet and the staff are friendly, especially Manos the night porter, he always looks abit drunk but happy! Beer is 1.75 euro for a Mythos which works out at about £1.10, you cant argue with that, in the town its twice the price. We went with 7 people aged 25- 46 and loved every minute, goto the town and sit by the bottomless lake or visit La Strada for a cheap but lovely meal...12 euros for a seafood mix (octopus, king prawn, scallops, mussell, squid) 9 euros... more

My partner and I stayed at The Hotel Ormos in August. We were pleasantly suprised after reading some of the reviews about how bad it is! This is total rubbish. It is a Basic Hotel and doesnt have much going on such as entertainment etc.. but it was very clean and the rooms were quite spacious with clean towels and sheets most days, the furniture is concrete but comfortable, the pool area was pretty quiet and the snack bar there was very reasonable and the waiter George was very friendly and helpfull. Have just returned from 2 weeks at the Ormos and had a great time. Ok the hotel is on the basic side, we had concrete furniture but the bed was none the less very comfortable and of a good size. Bathroom was clean and functional with plenty of hot water all day, and the room was cleaned each day with sheets and towels changed every other day. The only mosquito bite recieved by any of our party was recieved at a Taverna and not at the hotel as we took normal precautions of plug in repelants and body sprays. I have read the other two reviews and I dont recognise any of the problems they encountered. The hotel is very simple and clean. The beds were comfortable and there were no holes in my bedding or towels. I had a lovely view from my room, a spacious balcony and my furniture was not made of concrete. My room was cleaned everyday and I didnt get 1 Mosquito bite. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, and the hotel is in a great location. It is near the town and the beaches. This hotel is definitely worth trying... more

Very run down hotel, staff unwelcoming and failed to pass messages to us from tour company hence we missed the pick up bus for a day trip! Two women travelling together and asked for assistance with baggage, none available. Twin room requested and on arrival it was made up as a double bed and on enquiry at reception as to extra bedding to convert to 2 singles we were told it there were no extra sheets and it would be 2 days before the laundry would be returned. Admittedly, we were at the hotel at the end of the summer season - but if a hotel is going to close down and send away all their personnel then they should stop taking guests! We had asked to be booked at a high-end resort hotel near the beach, and believe me the Ormos was NOT it. The only beach in walking distance of the hotel was a boat marina and the closest swimming beach was clogged with garbage and sewage.
