We visited the Hotel Santa Monica in August. The hotel itself is very clean, the rooms are really nice but the decor in the hotel is a bit dated. The staff are all really friendly and the lobby area is really nice. The swimming pool and children’s pool is nice as well... more

I would not recommend this hotel to families with children. Staff were excellent, hotel clean, pool very good with a lifeguard on all day. Food was bad, kids choice was either chips, or the same pasta in tomato sauce every night. Adults food was ok but sometimes cold, a... more

Fantastic for families, couples. Clean, modern, close to beach and town

Booked this holiday through travel republic who I must say were fantastic. Our party of seven was myself, my mum and dad and my four childrenaged 14,10,9,6. This hotel is a perfect choice for families and couples. There were no single sex, stag night type groups (ok i'm jealous at those wild enough to party all night!!!) but this was a hotel where your children can have a happy and safe time followed by a peaceful nights sleep. Last weekend stayed in Santa Monica Playa hotel in Salou, approx €27 from Reus Airport in Taxi to hotel door. ON arrival entrance of Hotel fabulous, marble interior looks the biz ! Reception staff v friendly and helpful in everyway. Pool not overly big but enough room for everyone while we were there. Breakfast was from 8 -10 which was a little early for us, but we ate in some of the local restaurnants so cant really comment on food. Bedrooms basic but extremely clean and well kept. first things first if you got a cheap deal on this hotel then you ll find it value for money yes the food is not 3* but we paid an extra £30 to go full board for a family of 4 at that price you can afford to pick and choose when you want to eat at the hotel theres loads of lovely cheep restaurants in salou the hotel is in a excellent position couple of mins walk two the beach and main streets we were facing 2 late night bars it never bothered us both kids slepted fine everynight i would say if your going to the Santa Monica and reading the... more

This holiday was booked at the last minute and in fact we were moved here at the last minute after overbooking at our original accommodation. Bearing in mind its classification there was much to recommend the hotel. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean on arrival and kept that way throughout the week with daily towel changes and a bi-weekly bedsheet change. The buffet breakfast was more than acceptable. food and staff were appalling

the area the hotel was in was fantastic as all the pubs,clubs and resteraunts are in walking distance along with the beach. unfortunately cant say the same for the hotel, the rooms were clean but the air conditioning did not work and asked several times to be fixed but fell on deaf ears, the food is absolutly disgusting, the bar staff can not speak a word of english and it is very difficult to order a drink. the reception staff are rude and the secruity guard is unapproachable and very unhelping. more

Santa Monica is situated on a steep hill in between two roads which both have a disco and are part of the pub crawl area. If you're a light sleeper don't consider this hotel. The noise went on til 7.30am which included cars blasting music and constant shouting. The disco on our road was Snoopys which has a veranda area at the front so while you never heard music from the disco you had loads of people outside all night. The food is 2star and as we do 2 text holidays each year we've only had food as poor as this hotel offers once in a 2 star... more

we booked through [--], we booked about a month before our stay and got a great deal. when we arrived at the hotel it was very grand and extremely clean, we were very lucky with our room we were on the 6th floor which only had 6 rooms and it looked out over the beach, the hotel is very close to the beach and would def stay there again, the food was nice with a good selection, grade A hotel!! more

in september 2006 my husband, my son who is 12 and i stayed in the santa monica hotel in salou. we had a lovely time room was basic but clean. the hotel is situated within walking distance to the beach where we spent most of our days and then we went to portaventura theme park at night. we bought the tickets over the internet although other people we met got better deals. we took a day excursion to the barcelona stadium and then the fountains at night which were beautiful. there were many excursions and talking to other people who we... more

I've just returned from a weekend in Salou & was more than pleased with this hotel. If there had been any problems in the past year, they certainly have been taken care of. Perhaps a change in mgt.? First, for a 3 star hotel it was better than most 4 star ones I've been to. It is immaculately clean, rooms were air cond. & spacious enough & I got lucky & had a room with the largest balcony in the hotel (as large as the room itself!) Half board? Waste of time

I chose half board thinking I was going to save money and enjoy the relaxed attitude of the med of sipping wine over a long meal.How wrong I was!Meal times were extremely prompt and you were expected to finish within 30 mins otherwise you would have to wait over an hour for the next meal time slot and this so called option was only available in the evening.The meals were also quite poor and did nothing pallettable unless you were German.(Hotdogs for breakfast!?).Drinks are Not included in the price either.They sold thier house wine at an... more
