We stayed at the Santa Monica in June this year with our 9 year old Daughter on a half board basis. I have to say what a lovely Hotel this is. The food was excellent every night with plenty to choose from. Entertainment was first class and the staff were excellent especially with the children. The train station is only 10 minutes walk away and a trip to Barcelona is a must. Would definitely visit this Hotel again!

We visited the Hotel Santa Monica in August. The hotel itself is very clean, the rooms are really nice but the decor in the hotel is a bit dated. The staff are all really friendly and the lobby area is really nice. The swimming pool and children’s pool is nice as well with a lifeguard on duty all day.
The location is very good as well, really close to shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs although this is all so close noise is never a problem. There is a bus stop 5 minutes walk from the hotel taking you directly to Port Aventura, the theme park in 5-10 mins.
We were full board, which was the only thing bad about the hotel. The food was very basic and very repetitive, mainly to suit Spanish people. Not alot of choice and the dining room is horrible as well.
Its fine if its only one week but I think 2 weeks would be too much. Overall a very good holiday.

I would not recommend this hotel to families with children. Staff were excellent, hotel clean, pool very good with a lifeguard on all day.
Food was bad, kids choice was either chips, or the same pasta in tomato sauce every night. Adults food was ok but sometimes cold, a microwave was provided in the restaurant so we were able to re heat the food. We did have to eat out some nights.
Entertainment was terrible. Kids Disco is advertised but this is nonexistent, kids entertainer shown her face every now and again but just passes through rather than entertaining the kids! Entertainment was 'bingo' 2 nights of the week!!
Salou is a fantastic place, we have been the past 3 years and have loved every time.
Would recommend going to Salou but do not go to the Santa Monica if you have kids.

firstly let me say this hotel aint what people r makinh it out to be..i wo alittle scared at 1st after reading things..its in perfect location u can see the beach,u have 2 english bars ova road that cater for the kids and no u dont hear the noise n it goes on till 5am yet i hear nowt n im a light sleepa..reception staff one girl is english born n bread she wo fab,they all wo polite helpful n listened..rooms wo clean beds made everyday for ya..ill agree food wasnt hot but it wo eddable u get what ya pay for end ov day its not a 5start n dont advertise as one..now the down side the pool aint big so ur limited to what u can do no lilo...balls etc and the life guard wo a [--] to my son so i got her the sack...see they do listen i even got a gropu ov lads evicted for the noise they made...this hotel bends ova backwards for u in my eyes..
