We had a very enjoyable time in the Christakis apartments. Nikos - the manager - was very helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and the bar food was good I do have some advice if you are staying in the Christakis apartments though:
Bring lots and lots of towels.
When going out to the many clubs and pubs in Sidari town, I suggest you go to one on the right hand side (unless you like the smell of rotten seaweed when you're eating!)
Sidari beach isn’t very nice, so I strongly suggest you go to Glifada beach (the nicest beach in Corfu).
I definitely suggest you hire a car for the week. They are all new and most have air conditioning and are at reasonable prices.
When going to the beach, the waves are good, especially if there is a wind, so I suggest buying a rubber dinghy to make full use of them.
All the Greek restaurants are very friendly, and will do what they can to make you happy. We went to a restaurant - I think it was called simposios - for my 15th birthday and Nikos arrived to give the waiter a cake with sparklers for me.
Most of the Greeks have good English, however some don’t. I advise you not to go to "Cafe Club Glamour" on the way to Glifada unless you want a ham and cheese toastie with water when you ordered a piece of toast with orange juice!
Christakis has a nice pool, and if you want a lilo etc for it you should go across the road. The man is very friendly and will pump up your inflatables for free.
Food is cheap in Corfu, due to the high competition. It is mainly good, but you will probably find it easier than I did to get a good meal as I don’t eat meat!
The main restaurant I recommend is one in Sunset beach (I can’t remember the name). It has great sunset views and serves fantastic food. (The waiter even gave my dad his coat because he was cold!)
When you are driving around, the roads are very windy, and it might take you a while to adjust to driving on the right hand side. It will be hard at first to find your way around, but you will eventually get used to it - it is VITAL that you do not travel without a map or you could end up at the top of a mountain.
Paleokastritsa is a 45 minute drive away and offers some fantastic views. I recommend you go there.
Many of the beaches have water sports. We visited Roda beach and went on a banana boat - not for the faint hearted! I managed to fall in and get a mouth full of sea water!
Most beaches are relatively clean - but Glifada again is by far the best.
Don’t be put off in Sidari by people trying to drum up business for their club, bar etc - just say "no thanks!" and they wont get offended.
There are many souvenir (I think that’s how it’s spelt) shops in sidari - but all sell the same things so don’t visit them all!
Do not book an outing with your tour company. Repeat DO NOT! They charge an absolute fortune compared to the travel shop in Sidari. You can go on a boat trip to Albania, night cruise on the Mediterranean and a Greek night out.
I found (as chief family navigator) that if I got lost, I followed signs for "Kerkyra" and it would usually lead me the right way. I don’t know where Kerkyra is as I couldn’t find it on the map, but maybe you will have better luck.
If you want to go shopping - for cheap clothes, belts, perfume etc then go to Corfu town. It has a great night life.
For all you footie fans - Nikos plays all the games on his bar TV, so you won’t miss a thing!
A downside - on the return journey you have to wait a LONG time before boarding your plane.
Sorry if the place names mean nothing to you - you will get used to them!
I hope this review has been helpful - I suggest printing it! - and you have a wonderful time in Corfu!

I travelled to Corfu as a lone parent with two children under 9. On arrival at the Christakis, we were welcomed with open arms. Nikos and Sofia made our stay memorable and spoilt us rotten. We have never been so well looked after. The apartments are excellent sizes, clean, well fitted (including TV which comes in handy with 2 kids!). The pool was fantastic and was always clean and tidy, with plenty of sunbeds too.
The food in the pool bar made by Sofia and Nikos was brilliant, huge portions and very reasonably priced. Likewise the drinks were good prices too. And the Corfiot barbeque held on the Wednesday we were there was a lot of fun and the food again was fantastic.
We made so many friends on this holiday, and my children on leaving were heartbroken. I would recommend the Christakis Apartments to ANYONE, whether they are young, old, have children or sole travellers.

If you are staying at the Christakis Apartments you will have a wonderful time. The apartments are new, they are really clean and have all the essential items required on a holiday.
The apartments are located next to a road as stated in all the reviews, but I never heard the noise in the apartment and it was minimal traffic. Nikos runs the apartments and will do anything for you, food that was available was excellent and the pool was clean, and the sunbeds were free and were always available.
Unfortunately I wanted to go back there this year and its fully booked! It has a lot of shops nearby and also the beach and town are not far, but the accommodation is far enough away from the bustle of the town centre. I would recommend this to families, couples, single people and anyone wanting a fantastic people.

I went to Sidari Corfu with husband and my mother in-law, on the18/9/2006 for two weeks, it was not what I expected, I booked apartment for three, but did not get it all ended up in one room, I was not happy, we was stopping at Christakis hotel & apartment which was very basic not nice, the resort was dirty sewerage pips going into the sea, when it rained all sewerage came on to the beach. Don’t now why it is an EU country, it should not be allowed people and kids could pick anything up, I do not rate it at all if you do happen to go don’t let your kids or yourself go in the sea stick to your swimming pool if they have one, people need to now its not clean. Food not bad did not have many bad meals when we were eating out, they need to spend money on the place and improve it there is enough money coming into the country. If you stop in the accommodation we were in you have to pay for Air Con and you have TV but not able to watch it as they will tell you that its all in Greek .its a big con its so you will go in pool bar and spend money while you watch TV sorry but people need to now the truth.
