Never again!

Jun 2010, Disappointed

We had read reviews prior to booking, some good, some bad, but in all honesty the person that said it was like being in prison has probably summed it up completely!
I, my husband ( ages 53 & 54) daughter, son-in-law and family ( ages 35, 34, 10 & 7) have just returned from a week's stay. This hotel does not deserve to be rated 4* in any shape or form! Very few British people, lots of Eastern Europeans who were very noisy and active throughout the night.
My husband and I had the misfortune of neighbouring two EE women that came back extremely drunk every night of our stay. They shouted and laughed for hours, ran water for hours on end which resulted in us getting around 2 hrs of sleep per night. We complained at reception but although they seemed "sympathetic" to our plight and said they would investigate and speak to them, nothing was actually done.
The food wasn't that great, but passable just, often had to wait a while for fresh trays to be put out! More often than not, the bread rolls were rock hard. Cups for tea and coffee were never replenished fast enough and the dining staff were a tad brusque. The so called juice was so obviously made up from a sherbet style substance and tased nothing like fruit juice. We had to search for plates, cups and saucers that weren't chipped. My husband is ex forces and he likened the restaurant to an army cookhouse ( except the food was better in the cookhouse)!!
The pool is very small given the amount of rooms at the hotel.
Bed linen and towels were changed daily but actual cleaning of the room was never undertaken.
Music blares from the poolside of the neighbouring hotel until almost midnight most nights.
There is a games room that has a few pool tables and other gaming machines. Outside of the hotel, pool tables cost €1 to use, but it costs €2 at the hotel.
The evening entertainment was not up to much, the bar not big enough to cope with all the guests staying.
It cost us €2 per day for the fridge ( which wasn't that cold) and €2.50 per day for the safe plus €10 deposit for the safe key which was returned when we handed the key back.
There is only 2 lifts ( we and our daughter and family were lucky to have rooms on the 1st floor so could walk the stairs), we often saw queues of guests waiting to use the lifts. So anyone one with mobility issues may not want to stay here.
We would not return to this hotel even if we were offered a free stay!!!!

My boyfriend and i satyed in this...

My boyfriend and i satyed in this hotel at the end of september for a week. Our holiday worked out to be a really good deal so we were not expecting anything special but the cleaners came and changed the bedding and towels everyday, the Staff were really friendly and helped us with any problem or question we had.
We went half board and found the food ok most days. There were lots to choose from at breakfast time such as toast, cereal, fried breakfast, cossiants, friut, yoghurts ect, this was the same everyday but how often do you eat a fry up and have cereal for breakfast in the same day, we vaired what we had each morning.
for dinner, they had salad, rice and chips every day, they had different meets and fish every day, the food was nice but on 1 occassion we ate out as we didnt fancy any of the food. They had lovely desserts and lots of fruit. The cooks consaintly changed their food for fresh food even if the trays hadnt been emptied, which we thought was great.
We would recommend taking the day trip to barcelona football ground, where you can explore on your own for 27 euros, they take you into the city centre for a couple of hours to do some shopping, its only an hour away, it was a brillaint day.
The weather was around 25 degrees each day, so it was still really hot and we came back with lovely tans. Salou its self is lovely, everything is so near this hotel, its in a brillant location. We would defiantly recommend this hotel and Salou.

Stayed here in hot august with family...

Stayed here in hot august with family of 5, 2 x ad, 2 x kids, 1 infant, room was too small and air conditioning didn't work however cleaning was done daily and breakfast was good, staff were all friendly and helpful, thought they shouldn't charge extra for a fridge as we needed chilled water and could do with tea making facilities, entertainment was great for kids as there was a daily club and nightly disco however stage was dangerous as children could fall off onto concrete, sun beds were reserved around the pool although there was notices not too but no enforcements were made, the hotel is a good location for excellant beaches and bars and restaurants, had a job finding a traditional spanish one though, public transport is good and cheap going to port aventura park and costa caribe water park and reus airport, I couldn't believe this 4 star hotel didn't take credit cards for money exchange or booking trips but would happily take them for room upgrades etc, they advertise 2 restaurants but we could only find one and didn't find the kids play area until later on in the week whereby it was tiny, would rate this hotel as good 3 star and state that if you are a family of 4 + that the room is cramped, I would not have booked this if I had known previously

I am 20 years old and went to stay...

I am 20 years old and went to stay for a week with my boyfriend in this hotel. Overall, we had a fabulous time! The rooms were always clean, the food was very impressive with different theme nights and the setting of the hotel was absolutely perfect, about 3/4 min walk to the beach.
The hotel itself has a gorgeous pool, and obviously like any hotel you'd better get down there quick to bag a sun lounger! The bar staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, nothing was ever too much trouble and they were there to make sure we were comfortable and looked after.
The hotel is very clean and the room we stayed in was lovely, however, be warned that the hotel does in fact have minus levels e.g. level -1. This doesn't mean that you're underground, however only means that you won't have a balcony and your view will be of the car park/next door hotel, like ours was. If you want to make sure you have a room with a balcony/sea view, you have to pay extra, but I think it is worth it to get a room with a balcony. Unfortunately we didn't have a balcony, but as we weren't in the room much it wasn't a big problem. One thing I would say is that this hotel is said to be 4*, and I agree that elements are of 4* star quality e.g. the food, the pool, however I would say it is a good 3* hotel, overall. I've stayed in 3* hotels in the past where I have a balcony anyway and don't have to pay extra for it!
One thing I would say is that in the mornings if we wanted to stay in our room for a while or sleep in, we would put the "do not disturb" sign on the door, however, the maids still decided to knock on the door, and then proceed to enter the room, even though we were still in there and it clearly said " do not disturb"! This happened on more than one occassion, and the maids English was so poor that it was very difficult to ask them to come back later. Also, the waiting staff at breakfast and dinnertime in the dining room did not make us feel particularly welcome, they seemed bored and couldn't care less whether we got our food/drink or not. Again, their English was not so good, and even though my boyfriend and I had enough Spainish to get by, it was still difficult to communicate with them, even to order just a few drinks!
Putting aside those few things that weren't so great, we did in fact have a wonderful time! The sun shone every day, it wasn't too busy, and it was a comfortable and relaxing place to be. Plus, every night there was some sort of entertainment mainly focused for the kids but some of it was still good to watch. At the end of the day, we spent most of our time by the pool/beach or in the bar, so the things that we thought weren't so great were avoided for most of the day!
It was definitely a great holiday and I would recommend this hotel to anyone, particularly young couples like my boyfriend and myself!

Just finished doing a 7 day stretch...

Just finished doing a 7 day stretch at Salou Park Hotel, i honestly felt as though i was in an open prison, the staff treated the majority of our party with total disregard and showed a blaintent dislike for British people. A 4 star Hotel? yea ... appreciated the beds being made and clean towels every day, can't ever remember staying in any Hotel which has no Tea making facilitys in the room [ we are on holiday and it is a British thing] We had a couple of rainny days and was forced to switch the tv on in the room, it did'nt stay on for long as everything in English was dubbed into Spanish and German, oh... there was BBC WORLD NEWS kids soon got bored of that. On rainny days with children you are limited with what you can do [you can only spend a certain amount of time and money in the shops] Childrens entertainment was advertised but honestly just did'nt happen [apart from a 10 minute kids disco every night at 10 o/clock] Credit where it's due the hotel was clean and spacious, and when the Manager of this Hotel eventually gets enough complaints about the staff they may like to send each and everyone of them [ EXCEPT ALFONZO] on a Customer Relations Course,or just teach them some COMMON DECENCY. A good time was had by all, but sometimes it's the little thing that can make such a big impact.

i recentaly stayed at this hotel and i dont have a bad word to say about it. the rooms were just enough, the maids cleaned everyday between breakfast and lunch. the room facitlites were good. the reception area of the hotel was great we could wait and look out to see when our bus had arrived. the food in the resturant was brilliant. it was always streaming hot. the waitresses were really friendly and clean up well and made the place look tidy. the beach was a 2 second walk away which was good. the night life of salou was just a 3 second walk away, and you could not even hear it from the hotel which would be good if you had young children. the kids club looked fun (shame im not a kid) the amount of activites they had for the kids to do was great. the staff were great the bar staff were really friendly and helpful which made our stay at hotel salou park brilliant. the entertainment in the hotel was amazing, the amount of different shows they had to offer us was brilliant. the entertainer was so sweet, he made my week :) . the pool area was clean and tidy, the bar staff came and delivered your drink to your sunbed which was brilliant. overall i dont have a bad word to say about this hotel. i am defenatly booking to go again this year it was fantastic. i love this hotel and will be somewhere i will be going each year.
i dont know which hotel all these other people have been going to but its not this one.

Just arrived back from Salou , second...

Just arrived back from Salou , second time here for a week each time..
First time was california, this time salou park..
We arrived at 11.30 a.m and we were given keys to our appartement straight away , no waiting round.
Staff very friendly , Appartement was very clean and sheets were crisp. Changed every day with towels .
Our room was small but adequate. as it was a 1 bedroom half board. , we had 2 kids with us so they put in extra beds. We had the best view ever overlooking the sea , pool and the street , very safe balcony unless small children . There is a gap of about 2 inches from balcony to rail ., so small feet can fall down but no danger , just be aware.
Pool is not too big but good, beds available all day long and good spacious reception area. We did not see the entertainment as we wanted to explore the local drinking and water holes of salou..
Breakfast was the usual slow toaster ,,,, so get toast first otherwise brekkie goes cold...
WHAT IS WITH THEM TOASTERS ???
Bacon ?? eggs , beans, tomatoes, sausages?? cereal ham , cheese and cakes etc
brekkie is ok i just had beans egg and toast,, but took fruit out for the day..
evening meal , ? well not my cup of tea , i like to go out but it is and was ok, downside for famillies is there is only chips the kids like , so mine would not try the salmon etc. plus no ice-cream!!!! kids were gutted
Brilliant location for everything plus a small beach where it is very private , good for families , my kids caught the local fish and crabs in bucket and loved it to death showing us ..
I would say we were very impressed with the hotel although i would have likes a better evening dinner..
We had to be out on last day before 12.00 so as usual we were 12.30 .. they gave us a shower room , and case deposit room as we were not flying home till 11.00 p.m .. ALL in all very good clean safe district hotel .. Cant see this being a boys stag doo hotel .
we even asked for a bottle of wine after hours and the guy behind reception phoned the bar and they gave us a good wine which was cheaper and better than all the bars in Salou..
If you are going ask for sea view if possible , or second choice pool as you have kids, either way you get the sea view which is lovely..
any questions about bars or entertainment please feel free, im honest and very critical of most...
HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!

Apr 2008, Ms D Lambie

we had a great stay at this hotel.everthing was fine until we waited outside our hotel to picked up by plana bus company to take us to the airport which myself and 6 children had bought our return tickets at reus airport on arrival costing 9.95 euros each. we waited outside at 15.20 to be picked up at 15.30. he told us it maybe 10 minutes late because of traffic, we got worried at 15.45 so we went in and asked the hotel to ring them , we were tod they are comming, they did not,he phoned again, they came and we missed our flights,we had to buy 7 more tickets at 75euros each, waited another 5 hours to board a plane not even going to our airport in england, we where cold hungry and thirsty,we struggled to find the money, the food at the airport was expensive, the children whom were not all mine were trying to get hold of there parents to explain, our phone batteries were running out,our transport home was waiting at luton but we were now going to stanstead, we had trouble sorting this all out it was very stressfull and upsetting. we managed to get home at last at 2 in the morning, i now have a giant cold sore on my face and am on meddication for which was caused as a result of this trauma, my insurance company do not cover for missed flights, i have emailed the bus company 3 times they will not respond, how can they do this to people and get away with it?

Apr 2008, Mrs I Mackie

just returned from this hotel and can only ask you to do yourself a favour and don't go there................... the food was cold, inedible, didn't know if it was fish, chicken, or beef because it was just tasteless. couldn't take a drink you had bought at the bar, into the dining room. couldn't take the water you had bought from them in the dining room the night before, back next night, they just took the glasses off the table! the staff in the dining room were just soooooooo awful, it was like going into a prison camp.they never smiled or acknowledged you were there. people were having to go outside to eat, and feed their children. the food had to be put into the microwave to reheat, so it was safe to eat. receptionists didn't have any information about salou, or couldn't care less ! the only staff members who were lovely were in the bar, and the d.j. thanks guys. i read some reviews which were bad, some were good. i decided it takes all sorts, so went ahead, big mistake and waste of money. the hotel was built in 1997 and remains the same!!!!!!! our shower was actually hanging off the wall and the cistern was thick with dust on the top. i will go on and say that a strange thing happened on thursday, the day a bus load of french people arrived. it was amazing to see the manager fussing all over the place and more staff appearing in the kitchen. apparently the food was sizzling too.!!!! could it be that this was a party of people from a company the hotel wanted to return? possibly some company like saga. or maybe because the french won't accept what we accept. this was supposed to a 4 star hotel. should have been a :(*# minus 4 #) disgraceful. we have been all over the world far east, middle east, south sea islands, australia new zealand, gambia, sril lanka, u.s.a. just to name a few and never ever have we had this in a so called 4 star hotel. so cancel now, you won't regret it. have now realised salou is rubbish, but too late for us i'm afraid. if you want little africa and tat then salou's the place though. sorry if i have put you off, but i can only be honest. go somewhere else. !

We stayed at the Salou Park Hotel on...

Jan 2008, Mrs Tina  Miles

We stayed at the Salou Park Hotel on our honey moon. The hotel was amazing, it was cleaned daily, the food was excellent, and the staff were friendly.
The pool was small and cold, but the beach was less than 5 minutes walk away. I would go back again and I recommend it to anyone.
My only down fall of Salou is the amount of cats and kittens that just wander around, especially the beach area.

We booked this holiday about 2 weeks...
9 / 10
Dec 2007, Mr M Hall

We booked this holiday about 2 weeks before travelling. We chose this hotel solely based on the price. (£115 each) for a week half board. The Mrs and I were surprised to get such quality for the price.
We had one of the basement rooms which was overlooking the car park, but we don't go away to stay in the room. It was a fair size and very clean.
Food was great; breakfast was the Spanish version of English fry up (weird bacon and sausages) but tasted good. Also fruit, breads, cooked meats etc.
Evening dinner was a different buffet each night with English options too all of which were excellent.
Entertainment was a bit more geared towards the older guest. Dancing displays, musicians etc, but it’s only a 2 minute walk to the main strip.
Our only negative was the bar closing bang on midnight every night, but as I say town is just round the corner. Also the bar was expensive for some items like vodka and coke though the beer and wine were reasonable.
Staff were very helpful and polite even giving a poolside service.
I would recommend this hotel especially if you can get it at the price we paid, and we would go again for sure.
