we are also very regular visitors to the Greek Islands and have come to know what to expect when it comes to accomodation standards. Very happy to say that we were delighted with the River Studios in Paleokastritsa on our recent stay.
Can t really add much more than what others have already put but would reiterate that its very clean, modern furnishings, very comfortable and should you ever need anything Maria is available and very willing to help.
its locations is good - Paleo itself can get very busy, the River Studios are perhaps 10 mins walk from the centre and its like a different world - calm and peaceful, the acapulco bar is close by which has one of the best views to be found anywhere in Greece. Thoroughly recommend

My wife and i had a great holiday in the River Studios I found Maria a excellent host and very friendly. The kitchen was very well and the apartment was excellently clean. I am a regular visitor to Greece and i can happily say it was the best overall apartment i have stayed at and would not hesitate recommending to friends and family. and i would certainly stay again at the river Studious.

Booked River Studios as a result of reading these reviews and they were spot on. Maria, the owner of the studios is extremely helpful and welcoming. It is obvious that Maria values her guests as she had ensured that she knew the name of our daughter on arrival and invited her to play with her grand-daughter who was of similar age which was great. The studios, whilst basic were immaculate. The pool complex next door was excellent and our 6 year daughter spent most of her time in the pool. The staff at this complex were also extremely friendly and accomodating and the food from the pool bar was of a very high standard and reasonably priced.
Make sure that you take insect repellent with you as there were a lot of midges and some mosquitos even in July.
I would have no hesitation in recommending these studios particularly if you want a quiet and relaxing break.

Bright, clean and the most well equiped studios I have ever seen in Greece. Set of pans, frying pan, kettle, toaster, a 2 ring hob with a small oven and grill underneath.
Maria, the owner, is polite and helpful.
No pool here , but loads of pools and pool bars in thr area. The nearest is only about 50 yards away.
Is quite a long walk to the beaches if you go down the hill towards Paleo, however if you turn left and walk a couple of hundred yards up the (about 200 yards) road past agreat little place that does wonderful pitta giros, you will find signs for the Acapulco. The Acapulco bar and pool are open to all and there is access to the beach, a further 200 yards or so.
Unfortunately we only found this on our last day.
Do try the Oasis restaurant - great food.
Would definately stay at the River again.

Maria was on hand to welcome us after a long flight delay and our enjoyable stay with her started from that moment. The accommodation was spacious and the standard of cleanliness second to none. The kitchen was very well equipped. During our two week stay nothing was too much trouble for Maria and her husband and we were greeted on our return from days out with enquiries as to how we had enjoyed our time. They were very busy but always happy to chat and make you feel at home.

We spend 2 weeks in Rivers Studio September 2009 and we say WOW about everything! Clean spacious acomodation with AC-(payable localy) and beautiful view at Olive treeas on the mountains is fully recomended by us-who enjoy active holidays and like to have self catering facilities We had short walking distance to two lovely rocky beaches-briliant for snurkling and easy acces to rent motor boat or book a trip to other beaches by boat with glass bottom which show us under water world and transfer us to Pardise beach where we enyoy teasty BBQ.We also went to Aqua Park which is a good fun does no matter are you 6 or 60!!!.If you rent a car you can travel all over Corfu to see last reall Greece .Time just stoped there and between ruins of beauty houses and tinny narrow streets are leaving old people who are probably last villigares .If you say Calimera -(men good morning) their faces are happy and shinny and you feel really good that you have this privilege to be there and say them hallo. The real soul of accomodation is Maria who always make you feel very wery welcome and if you do not want to go to the beach you can enjoy 2 nice and clean swimming pools at nearest neighberhoud.Thre is plenty shops bars and tavernas and internet in 2 min walking on the Camping area. Be careful with car rental-all local charge you extra for fuel after you made 100km-better find comany who will give you a clear price all inclousive. Anna and Tom

Booked the River studios 2 weeks before we went with an open mind as the photos were not good in the brochure. When we arrived we were very suprised how clean and tidy the whole place was. The owner Maria was a very nice lady who was always around, sweeping, washing and cleaning the rooms every other day. I would agree with other reviews that the main resort is quite a walk in the blistering heat and would reccomend finding the times of the local buses to get the bus back to River studios. The pool and pool bar next door was fantastic, Jenny, who cooked our meals from time to time was a great cook and all very tasty and very well priced. I would reccomend the river studios to anyone and would not hesitate going back again myself.

We had a fab time at the River Studio's. It was very relaxing with Maria, Spiro and all her family making us feel very welcome. There were shops and pools near by, and the beach was only a small walk away.
This ended up being a very cheep holiday as we were able to book flights with easyjet, and book the room through the website [--].
Fully recommend it!!
Julia.

Although there is no pool at the apartments, there is the use of other local pools availabe, which we used to our advantage.
Our room, at ground floor, was very pleasant and cleaned regularly. There was a nice patio area at the front where we sat out on an evening and had a drink.
The owners, Maria and her husband, were delighful people who were very warm, friendly and helpful.
We knew the apartments would be fairly basic, so did not expect too much in terms of facilities. The kitchen equipment was fine and some couples who were staying there ate in most nights.
Paleokastritsa as a resort was beautiful, although the apartments were a fair walk from the nearest beach. The locals were extremely friendly and warm people and made us most welcome.
The local restaurants were all excellent and reasonably priced. It is a resort we would certainly go back to.
In short, if you want a basic self catering holiday with guaranteed good food and friendly service you can't go wrong. Be prepared to do plenty of walking as the resort is very spread out. There is loads to do though and plenty of nice bars.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable week.

River Studios are very clean but with dark woodwork and basic, but had a full size fridge with freezer compartment, great for freezing bottles of water to take out for the day! There were big wardrobes in the studio we were in, lots of hanging space, but no shelves or drawers, which could be incorporated in the wardrobes. The worst parts were the size of the bathroom, the shower area was so small that when you lifted your arms to spray the shower, you would knock your elbow on the shelf over the sink!! Also the metal chairs on the veranda were very uncomfortable.
The 2 renovated apartments are really pleasant, lots of space and beautiful, large bathrooms.
The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Would give you directions and information. The studios were cleaned and beds changed about 3 times a week. The potted plants and trees in the front of the property were kept watered and attractive, but the area in front of the ground floor studios really needs to be paved over as it is just gravel.
Paleo is not for young people (not much nightlife, and the local disco is closed) or those with walking problems (very hilly). There is just one long, winding, hill down to the beaches (very small) and no boat trips other than in the bays around Paleo, so you can't take a day trip from here. It is a beautiful place but there is no village centre and only tourist shops and the largest "supermarket" is fairly expensive.
The old village, up the hill at the back of Paleo is well worth a visit.
Public transport is dire. You need to hire your own transport!! This expense it worthwhile, as there are lovely traditional villages to visit up in the olive groves.
