We were at the hotel last year and enjoyed it so much we have booked again for this year. It has all you need, it is clean, has some entertainment and more importantly if you are going outwith July and August, a heated indoor pool. Not many of these in Salou! The food was... more

Aug 2009 - I would not return to this Hotel - Sunbeds are chained up around the pool until 10am each day, and once they were unlocked by the lifeguard it was a free-for-all scramble! (Approx 150 sunbeds for a Hotel with 290+ rooms), the sunbeds are stacked 20-25 high and we... more

Great Hotel, with very friendly helpful staff. The food was excellent in buffet style. Kids could eat what they wanted and they even had a healthy section for those of you that may have been dieting for your holidays and did not want to put the weight back on. Was as usual... more

We were a family party of 3 adults and 4 children ( 14,13,9 and 8 )1 baby. The Hotel is probably the best in Salou and is very clean and tidy although minimalist in room decor. I would say it is between 3 and 4 star. The main bugbear was at the indoor pool where they insist... more

Brilliant Hotel
Have just returned from a week at the Regina Gran. Stayed on a room only basis as we like to eat at different places in the evening. Could not fault the hotel at all, rooms were lovely and spotless clean. The maid came every morning and cleaned and left fresh towels. The staff were all helpful and spoke excellent English. The swimming pool is exceptionally good and a small children's pool with plenty of sunbeds around. It is a wonderful resort for children with some excellent child friendly bars. Favourite has to be Champions with Coco the clown on til 11 pm/midnight. Favourite eating place was Uncle Sam's Route 66 where they do a mean ribs with barbecue sauce. Had one bad meal at the Robin Hood which had obviously been microwaved as it was hot on the outside and cold in the middle. Would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel!
Nice Hotel
We stayed at this hotel for one week half board. Food was OK you always got something to do you but lets just say we didn't look forward to our dinner every evening. Roast Beef and baked ham were served every other night. Queues in the restaurant were a bit annoying, I would not like to be staying here in the high season (you will be queueing for your dinner all night). Staff were friendly enough, rooms were nice, pool was lovely (although very cold). It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the town and the beach and about 15 minutes walk to Port Aventura. Entertainment in the evenings was more for the over 50's ie. dancing to some guy playing the keyboards, a couple of shows during the week but the place pretty much cleared at 11.30 pm, a lot of local residents seemed to come every evening to enjoy the dancing. Kids club was run by a small spanish team, they were good and tried their best but nothing spectacular. Kids disco every night and a few games. All in all a very good holiday was had by all and we met some great friends (Hello to Ryan, Tina, Daniel and Abi and George, Carol, Alan and Carl) but if I go back to Salou I would choose a hotel nearer the town and one with a bit more livelier entertainment.
Lovely Hotel
I stayed here when i was on honeymoon in 2002 and it was lovely back then. Last year we returned to Salou but stayed in a different location. We visited the hotel again and it was beautiful. They had done alot of work to the inside and it is now more beautiful than ever.
excellent hotel
The hotel is located about 10 mins walk from beach and main part of salou. Lovely hotel. The rooms were spacious for 3 people and the staff are very helpful especially the reception staff. our room 1330 was a gable end room overlooking the road however it was not very noisy and when the door was closed could not hear anything. Pool beautiful although cold. The facilities excellent. We used the sauna and jacuzzi needed swim hat. Very relaxing break will certainly return again
nice hotel
just returned after a weeks stay at this hotel from 5th may to 12th may.i found the hotel very pleasant, clean and comfortable.i couldnt find anything at all to complain about.just remember as someone pointed out 4 star spanish will not be the same class as 4 star british.the staff were hard working and helpfull, especially the reception staff, and i had absolutley no trouble having calls put through to my room promptly.infact my cousin commented on how nice the reception staff were to her when she phoned me.As for the food,it was absolutley fine, there is always a great range and i'm not adventurous in the food department.you certainly wont starve.Of course there will always be those for whom there is no pleasing.the lady who found her stay was noisy due to children playing late at night,i think may have just been unlucky as although there were a number of children staying at the hotel when i was there,i encountered no problems. However if i had done,i'm sure a polite request to the reception staff would have solved the problem.there is a lovely indoor and outdoor pool at the hotel and also a hair salon with an excellent stylist.they dont open sunday or monday but do have some late evenings and she is not overpriced.overall i wouldn't hesitate to recomend this hotel to anyone
ok hotel - good location
im a travel agent and have just returned from a weeks stay at the regina gran hotel the hotel is in an excellent location - 15 mins walk from port aventura, 10mins walk from train station - opposite hotel el paso ( station is not signposted) and 15 mins walk from beach and centre down a side street beside the les dalies apartments the food was ok - not a very high standard and blue mould on bread for toasting on the 1st morning - after reporting it to staff the bread was removed and fresh bread put out in place of it - dinners were ok - buffet style but plenty of restaurants in the area with better food and still good value - try d'albert at the port - food and service are excellent balcony doors did not lock and i found the reception staff to be very unhelpful at putting telephone calls through to our room - callers were left on hold for 10mins and the request to be put through to a room was greeted with a large sigh and talking and laughing in the background before call was eventually put through to room this hotel is a good option for its location only as long as you bear in mind that its not a 4* hotel - a 3* at very most
Ok hotel
Just returned from a 6 night stay at this hotel. The rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. The reception staff are very helpful and the restaurant staff are very hard working. I swear they can spot an empty plate as a sixth sense! The food is very good and there is plenty of choice and I don't think anyone can complain there's nothing they like. The location of the hotel is good - a stone throw away from the shops of the town and about a 10 min walk to the beach. My only complaint is that it was quite noisy there, and we were there off season. We found that many families let their children play on the stairs and run the corridors shouting well after midnight whilst they were drinking in the bar. That said, it was the fault of the parents not the hotel but perhaps a more vigilant reception could have prevented such behaviour. I suspect that during the busy summer months it will get noisier and more of a problem. The general overview of the hotel is it may be 4* by Spanish standards but not by UK standards and if you bear that in mind you won't be disappointed..
I'll definitely go back again!
When me and my family arrived at this gorgeous hotel i couldn't beleive my eyes, it was dazzling! the pool was very clean and really big! the rooms were very cosy and the food, well i've never seen so much food in my life! It was brilliant! It was definatley the best hotel i've ever stayed in! I recommend to any one who loves to be pampered! I wud go again!
Reasonable por what you pay
My wife & I stayed for 2 nights half board on 4th March 2006. Hotel rate was reasonable at £18 per person per night Busy Saturday at hotel with all the Spanish weekend trippers. The great selection of food in the restaurant & subsequent evening entertainment reflected this. On the quieter Sunday, no entertainment, food choice not as good and generally very quite, a good day to head to Barcelona as we did. Train takes 1hour 20 minutes and costs 10.80 Euros return per person. Overall a reasonable hotel but difficult to justify 4 star rating, at least in the off-season.
Lovely Clean Hotel
My sister and i are just back from a few nights at the regina gran which were very pleasant. I was a bit apprehensive after reading a review that someone left in jan 06 but we had no problems at all i think british people expect 4 star spanish hotels to be like british 4 star hotels but they are not and the price you pay reflects that. The only negative thing i would say was it could be doing with some tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
