These are excellent studios let down...

"These are excellent studios let down by a total lack of cleaning.

In the two weeks we were there the pool did not get cleaned once, and the filter was turned on for no more than a few hours (and that was on a good day!). This meant that the water was hardly crystal clear and left you often having to swim among the various wasps and flies that had decided to drown themselves during the night!

The cleaning of the rooms was no better. In two weeks the bathroom was not cleaned at all, (also had to buy our own toilet rolls!) and the floor got no more than the occasional mop with water.

Apart from that, and the fact that the rooms cry out for air conditioning, these are a lovely set of studios (depending on which you get as some have a great view and some face a wall!)

It is a five minute stroll down into the resort which is quiet, has some great restaurants (the best being on the beach away from the sound of the bloody motor bikes!), and one or two bars.

The resort is, in essence, one road. To walk from one end of the resort to the other will take you about 10 minutes, and that includes stopping to look in shops!

The people were friendly, as they mostly are in Greece, the food was excellent (and very reasonable), and the weather was fantastic with hardly a cloud in sight.

Depending on what you are looking for, this is an excellent resort. If only the Lofus were not trying to penny pinch quite so much it would have been an outstanding holiday rather than a very good one.

One final comment, (and it seems that I am moaning all the time!) if you are with Olympic (which you will be if you are staying here) ignore what the brochure tells you about transfer times. You will be on the coach anywhere between 90 and 270 minutes. Make sure you have some water with you!

This was our fourth visit to...

"This was our fourth visit to beautiful Kassiopi and our second time at the Lofus. As always the accommodation was clean and comfortable. We were welcomed like old friends by owners Pepitsa and Spiros who, together with their staff, did everything to make our stay enjoyable.

Their poolside restaurant with very reasonable prices meant hat we didn't need to cook at all. There are ample sun beds and parasols around the pool. Although the drive is steep, it is all worth while for the peace, tranquillity and, most of all, the breathtaking views over Kassiopi and the two bays!

This time our 28 year old son came with us (wanting to see for himself what kept calling us back) He soon fell for the place.

My wife and he used to ride years ago and promised each other that they would sample the local stables. They booked at the Dimitris Riding Centre and were picked up by Dimitris himself and taken to Avlaki where they were welcomed by his English partners, Alison and David Green.

Alison is a fully trained riding instructress with years of experience (as well as an ex vetinary nurse. Great care was taken to make sure that the hard hats supplied were an excellent fit.

They were asked for their relevant riding experience and assigned horses accordingly. (The horses were obviously well fed, well looked after and had nice temperaments). They pride themselves in taking out small parties in order to give their clients full safe attention.

On this ride there were three experienced riders and one novice who was carefully looked after by the ride leader Fred ( an Anglophile who has lived in Corfu for many years) He imparted his knowledge of all the flora, fauna and historical points as the horses picked their way along winding tracks through scenic countryside. You see so much more on horseback including incredible views of the bays and across to Albania. An hour of peace and tranquillity on gentle horses in very safe hands.

Then it was down to the beach for the horses to paddle and cool off their legs before going back to the centre for a choice of cold drinks while the horses were untacked and left to cool off too! My wife and son thought it was a memorable afternoon and re-booked the next week.

As everyone who has been to Kassiopi knows their are a host of restaurants but in addition to Janis (which nearly everyone favours) Dimitri himself has a great Taverna a little down the coast, Castellos is great as well and lets not forget Dons ! We can't wait to go back!

"We stayed in the Lofos last June; to be honest we were moved there. This was the best move ever. Waking up in the morning to such a spectacular view could not be bought.

The rooms were typically Greek, spotless and cleaned 6 times a week.

Having stayed in Kassiopi many times Lofos was a hidden treasure and we are returning this June for another two weeks.

"The Lofos is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly, the rooms are well equipped and the views from most of the rooms are stunning and overlook Kassiopi.

The only drawback is that the walk up to the Hotel is the price you pay for the views but it is still only a very short walk from the centre of Kassiopi, and please try the home made Taramasalata and Greek yoghurt from Nikos Supermarket by Michaelangelos Apartments also a short walk from the apartment.

Try Kostos Bar for the Greek dancing and the excursions from Cosmos by the Church cheaper than Olympic, local bus service is worth a try.

It was our first visit to Corfu and...

"It was our first visit to Corfu and we will definitely be returning. We were a family of four including two teenage children, one of 16 and one of 13. Our accommodation was good although if you were intending to cook anything yourself the facilities were a little limited. We ate out for our entire stay, as prices are really reasonable and the variety is good. We didn't eat at the same place twice.

The Lofos has a small bar offering breakfasts and snacks and the view from the terrace is fantastic. All facilities were spotlessly clean and the hospitality offered at the hotel was first class - nothing is too much trouble for the Owner and staff. The hotel is up a particularly steep incline, but pace yourself and you will be ok! There are safety deposit boxes for hire and also air con if you want it. We didn't bother as there was a lovely cool breeze in the evening.

We thought our 16 year old may have been bored as during the day the resort appears fairly quiet but she made friends with two Irish girls the same age as her and they hit the various bars/karaoke bars during the evening and had a great time. I think the two girls made her holiday!

The beaches are a good 20 - 25 minute walk but definitely worth it. The waters are clear - great for snorkeling. You can hire small boats from 70 Euros per day and explore the various coves around the coast. We enjoyed an evening trip to Corfu town by boat at a cost of around 15 Euros each.

The Olympic rep Sarah was lovely- very helpful - even though her accent was a little difficult to understand - sorry Sarah - but you are doing a great job.

All in all we enjoyed our stay immensely and 7 days was definitely too short. We'll be returning without doubt and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Lofos.

Lofos Aptmts - Kassiopi

"Stayed at the Lofos apartments last October and are going again at the end of May this year. Lovely complex with very friendly staff. Very clean and in nice quiet setting away from the noise and hub-bub of main village centre. 5 minute walk to shops and centre, 10 minutes to harbour front. Great views from balconies down to harbour and over to Albania across the bay.

Definitely recommend to those that like it quiet but not too remote.

Kassiopi is a wonderful fishing town...

"Kassiopi is a wonderful fishing town on the coast of Corfu, the town is littered with excellent Tavernas and Restaurants and the odd lace shop to suit the older generations.

Kassiopi differs from many other towns on the island as it caters for all, there are late night bars for the lively and quaint side streets for the adventurous. As with any Greek holiday you can expect nothing but friendly service from Hotel and restaurant staff.

The hotel we stayed in was located at the top of a hill overlooking the town, it is suited to families and couples mainly I would say and the outdoor pool is clean, and a good place to meet others. I visited the hotel previously when I was not a resident, back then you could use the facilities provided you buy drinks and/or lunch there, I am not sure if this is still the case?

Overall I would recommend this holiday to anyone who likes variety, likes eating out, having the odd drink and relaxing.

Booked this holiday last minute and...

"Booked this holiday last minute and absolutely loved every minute of it.

The Lofus Apartments were set slightly in the hills and had everything you could wish for. Our room was superb it overlooked the bay of Kassiopi, it was idyllic. Everybody very friendly, rooms cleaned 6 times per week, and the cleaners even did our washing up one day! The resort itself was wonderful, we used to walk to the harbour and then on to the choice of three beaches every day. Snorkelling was perfect and the fish would swim in between your legs in the sea, it was so clear.

Sea was a bit on the chilly side as hadn’t had time to heat up yet but as the weather was so hot it was very refreshing! We expected it to be very busy (being half term week) but we were pleasantly surprised, had some fantastic meals and if you like fish there is loads to choose from (the prawns are massive!)

You must try Janis Restaurant, which is set on the beach, superb meals. It was one of the best holidays I have had and we will definitely be returning.
