so me and my boyfriend fancied a cheep holiday in the sun. I wanted to go to Corfu for ages so we booked a week this September in Magna Grecia! My boyfriend paid just under £800 for the flights and hotel, we chose all inclusive, what a bad mistake! Olypic holidays was our tour guide, they seemed helpful at first but as the week progressed they got more unhelpful. The hotel looked all pretty lit up at night when we arrived, as for the reception its occupant was rude and unhelpful, he complained we was later than expected! We asked for a drink he said only water was allowed , he took our passports and intended on keeping them as there was over 10 behind him on the shelves! I said I would wait till he put our details in on the system, no way was I going to leave my passport! We was given a key and our passports, we found our room....it was really poor quality for a 3* plus as it stated in the magazine. The bed may as well of been on the floor, the sheets were old looking as well as the decoration in the room. The pillows were flat and the bed was really hard , I slept better on a sun lounger in the day by the pool. The bathroom was poor quality, the shower was not anything special and the hairdryer was just pointless using.
The next day we found a run down gym, a sauna and a jacuzzi that was never on, the bar that only served toasties and kept running out of beer, another bar always closed. We had lunch, food looked like it was smothered in oil, nothing labled, we tried it anyhow. I remember how rancid the rice was as hard as a bullet too! The food tasted so vile I couldn't eat it. My boyfriend ate because he had to, the food was not to a standard to be served. I ate just salad and packet food pretty much what they had not made, my boyfriend was ill through eating an egg, god knows what it carried! We ate out every night in the end, shakes is a fantastic place to go food is fab and the ladies toilet feels like your back at home, was really reassuring for me after what I had experienced. Edds place was pretty good aswell but a couple tasted like our hotel so be picky if you wanna eat out. Really I wish that we was not all inclusive as we would of saved loads, all we really got was drinks. The pool was full of flies and made your feet blue, the staff except the cleaners were rude, the paark advertised was non existant and the tennis courts were in a bad way. We made a complaint about the food to our rep she was very unhelpful and did not care what we thought. She said the food was fine for the star rating which it really was not, also that there was no entertainment. After we made the complaint I went to get a drink and it was basicly thrown at me. We had a night flight booked so had to wait around, amazingly there was entertainment, because it was a night flight we had booked another room which we had to pay £20 euros for, this room was worse than the first. Broken drain in the toilet, shower that flooded, ripped towels, attatchments hangin off the wall, broken door. However the bed was alot nicer (about the only thing though) the shop was never open and very over priced, the excursions were cheaper from Dassia than our rep. Just a total nightmare really and I would tell everyone DO NOT go!!!!! Dassia is beautiful itself and very friendly but don't stay at Magna grecia! Nothing like it says on the advertisments!

Nice hotel, very clean. Dassia is also a lovely resort.
Brits probbaly made up about 10% of guests at the Magna Grecia and Dassia as a whole, the majority being Italian and German. This wasn't an issue for us and made a nice change from most places but if you expect it to be like Butlins it isn't. The entertainment was generally Italian or Greek singers/dancers so I reckon kids would get bored there pretty easily but for the open minded its fine.
Food was great, lots of choice but no English selections on the buffet which might put some people off, generally greek and pasta dishes.
Bar was great, and Spiros with his cocktails is very jovial, friendly and enthusiastic. I read some people complaining that the AI bar was separate to the main bar. It is but is just round the corner up about 6 steps so hardly a mission away. Also some tables in the bar are reserved for which 'paying guests' seemed to annoy some people on here. First it was only a handful of tables and we had a few cocktails which we had to pay for and got no grief from the barman for sitting in these tables.
The Pool Bar is slightly raised from the pool, up about 10 steps. I think some people expected to be able to order from their lilo! The drinks and toasties are very nice from this bar.
In short I think if you think by paying for All Inclusive you have the expectation of a week long all you can eat/drink buffer and are going to be treated like royalty you will only get annoyed. But if you don't go with the mentally to take advantage of the deal the Hotel is great.
Dassia as a resort is quite small, as with the Hotel most people are Italian and Greek. There are a few bars and restuarants, certainly enough for a week.
The Beach is small and pebble, but just behind is lawns from of the beach front hotels which makes a nice change to getting sand everywhere. There are about 4 watersport piers along the beach.
We hired a car and went to Sidari breifly, and were really taken back by how 'Brits abroad' the resort was with english bars everywhere and people walking around with english newspapers. Everyone is different and this may be more your thing, if so you won't like Dassia much.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was more than what we expected, rooms were cleaned everyday,Only problem was that the rooms were quite dark and the beds and pillows were done out. only a short walk to bars and restraunts, Beach right across the road and water sports near by. Pool was Large and clean, it was also deep enough for my child to learn to dive! The main bar had a VERY friendly barman who we enjoyed talking to most nights. Entertainment was quite good and so were the facilities such as internet useage ect..
My family really enjoyed this holiday we will be coming back very soon. Recommended for All family types!

The Hotel is very nice although slightly run down - definitely not 4*. The staff are excellent, very friendly, good service.
Our argument was with the All Inclusive issue. There are 2 pools; a large, very nice pool with big umbrellas which is for the "paying" guests, and a second small, badly maintained pool for those on all inclusive basis. The bar for AI guests during the day is perfectly adequate, however the evening is another matter altogether. Our bar was in the converted sauna area and the seating is as far away from the entertainment as is can possibly be without being in another hotel. If you attempt to sit in the nicer area there are notices on all the tables telling you that unless you are buying drinks, you cannot sit there and indeed you are asked to move if you try to do so. After the allotted 3 cartons of orange juice are finished each day, you have to have your drink with orange squash (Tequila and squash - not good!!) and when the ice machine broke down they weren't allowed to get any from the other bar.
The food is not of a very good standard and very repetitive, definitely NOT 4*. We do not make a habit of leaving bad press, in fact we usually leave good reviews, but we were made to feel like second class citizens throughout the week.

Me and my husband were for the second time in Corfu. We booked the hotel in our country (Romania) and it was a bad surprise to find a very dark hotel. We booked a sea view room and when we arrived they told us they have only a garden room for the first night and they will change the room next day.
The first room was as dark as the hotel and the balcony was in front of the air conditioner installation which makes a lot of noise and bad smell, so you are not able to rest an the balcony or to keep the door opened at all. We thought they gave us such a room because we were from Romania but after they changed it I realised they gave these rooms to all people who say nothing about it.
The next room had sea view but air conditioning system didn’t work at all, so it was impossible to stay in the afternoon. They told us we were the first tourist who told them about the defection. The third day they gave us another room with sea view and air conditioner which worked about one day and a half. Other friends in the hotel told us the same so I think they stop voluntary acclimatization from time to time because sometimes it starts again to work. Rooms are very clean but they give you only a small soap whole journey.
The restaurant is like a canteen but food is good, not very diversified. You can use sauna and massage only if you book it one day before because usually it is closed. We traveled in many places and I think this hotel is not a four star hotel at all. I do not recommend to stay there for your holiday.

Stayed at the magna graecia this year and was concerned that this hotel is rated as a four star who rates these hotels this was a three star if that. The rooms were inundated with ants and mosquitoes we were bitten constantly as our balcony was right next to shrubbery. The pillows were disgusting and looked like a million people had dribbled on them.
Oh and as flat as pancakes too. The beds were so hard that it felt like we were sleeping on a pallet. The food in the dining room catered for the Germans and Italians that dominated this hotel. We were unhappy with the staff who all seemed to speak every language other than English. The staff at the bar were the only reason we stayed in the hotel as for the hotel entertainment it was almost non existent and catered for the older generation only.
Dassia is a lovely village but there is nothing to do other than drink and eat. If you are after a very quiet holiday then this will be great but anyone under the age of sixty shouldn’t go here as its dreadfully overrated.

Stayed in this hotel last year and the hotel itself was lovely. The rooms however were very dark with dated furnishings and the rooms had carpets. The rooms were cleaned daily and our room had a huge balcony (not so safe for our 1 year old as it was situated above reception and only had about a 1 foot wall surrounding it) be careful if going out on the balcony and closing the door as you'll get locked out(we were lucky because we had the big balcony and were able to climb back in an adjacent window).
The hotel was full of Germans and the meals were terrible (more suited to the German taste than the British) in the mornings you couldn’t even get toast and on a few occasions the ham was what we would put on a sandwich and not bacon.
We only ate there twice as there was little or nothing that appealed. if they served potatoes you didn’t get chips and vice versa.
The pool wasn't cleaned in the time that we were there but you couldn’t get a lounger anyway as the Germans were up at 7 am putting down their towels and disappeared for the day. Dassia is a beautiful little place and we have noticed a big change in it over the past 10 years. It used to be a very busy resort and popular with all ages as Ipsos is right next door but now it seems to be dying, with loads of unused accommodation which I think is very sad because we had loads of great holidays here, but sadly I don’t think we will be returning.
Anyone who is going will have a great holiday here and you should visit the red penguin which is on the far end of Dassia if you were walking into Ipsos. Spiros is a diamond and makes anyone feel welcome, we visit him every time we go and he remembers us every time.

Arrived at hotel, never really explained about the key in your room worked your electric, so loads of people throughout they had no electricity. If you are going all inclusive you can only use a tiny bar upstairs for your drinks, we could not use the main bar. They had a poolside bar, but we never saw a menu to say what we could have to eat or drink.
Be prepared there is a TV in room but not one English channel (not even sky news). Maids came to clean your room every day and changed your towels, very good. The dining room was ok, but never had a hot plate, food was always just aired at breakfast, no toast either, pillows in bedroom like flat pancakes.
Apart from that hotel was ok and clean staff were quite polite, no toilets in main reception, also a lot of steps outside to the pool, or up to the small bar. Swimming pool not cleaned all week that we were their, (dead flies on surface).

We chose Olympic as their representatives have always been the most proactive in ensuring the transfers run smoothly and as always we were not disappointed. The hotel was 4 star and clean and well kept with polite and friendly staff.
Our first room was dreadful as it was dark narrow and the balcony was above the air conditioning fans. So the heat and noise from them was unbearable. We immediately complained and the staff very politely offered to move us to another room the next day. Our next room was outstanding with a most beautiful view of the sea and the mountains. The food was various and well presented so there was something for most tastes and the restaurant staff were very helpful.
The resort was what I would call neutral and very pleasant with a good balance of family entertainment and nightlife. However the beach was a bit too shingly for younger children. My only reservation is the very busy road running through Dassia with nowhere safe to cross.

Good Hotel and the food is excellent. There seems to be alot of Germans staying so the quality is up there. The swimming pool is one of the biggest on the Island.
Bus stop right outside the hotel taking you to Corfu town every 30 mins. Cost 1 euro each. Try a day out to the Aqua Park and visit Pelekestriacia. Visit the garden bar at the other end of Dassia, good night. Try the coffee and cake shop next to the garden shop, their vanilla slice is the best ever. Hermes hire car just a few doors down is cheap to hire.

Have just returned from what could be the worst accommodation of my life.

When we arrived the room smelled of bad drains which the hotel blamed on the bad weather. The room had a carpet which not only was dreadfully unhygienic & unclean but was probably around 40 years of age. The same could be said for the room furniture, non existent air conditioning and dull lighting. The food in the restaurant was deplorable with no choice. Dinner and breakfast were equally bad.

The restaurant staff were some of the rudest I have ever come across. We only ate once in it and after that ate in a lovely taverna at the bottom of the hill from the hotel. It spoke volumes when everyone from our hotel was also in there every night! The pool was not cleaned once during the week I was there and was full of dead flies etc.

There was also a broken stair in the pool under the water that if a child was to try to climb up would slice their leg off. I have no idea why this could possibly be classed as a 4 star hotel as have stayed in better 2 star.
Well to start off in the nicest way possible, the bar staff were fantastic! enjoyed there company and had a great laugh with them. but the rooms were terrible, me and my parents ACTUALLY had to share a tiny room together! i love my parents, but boy it was too close for comfort. the beds were rock solid and my dad had to sleep on a pull out bed which he could feel the metal bars when sleeping! he went for a relaxing holiday but all he got was a worse back than he already has. the food was not good at all, we all lost weight from refusing to eat in the 'restaurant'. we decided to eat out instead. it was our first and last experience with all inclusive! however, corfu is a lovely place.
