Excellent value, fantastic holiday.

My girlfriend and I stayed here in the last week of August.
The staff/owners were very friendly and accommodating.
The rooms were very basic, but a nice size and they were very clean.
The beach was about 1 maybe 2 minutes walk, which is lovely.
the Charietta is in a fantastic location, walkable distance from Ipsos, right next to supermarkets and other restaurants and bars, yet still slightly off the road so still seems very private.
The owners also arranged a pool party and BBQ which was great fun with delicious home cooked foods, (the mum is a brilliant cook).
The holiday rep lived on site which was very useful. she was very helpful.
This holiday represents excellent value and I really haven't got a bad word to say about it. You get a lot more than what you pay for.

Great stay no problems

My husband, 7 year old son and myself stayed here end July 2011 for a week. We booked last minute and while awaiting confirmation call, I checked some reviews and got quite worried. We planned to upgrade at rep meeting, however THERE WAS NO NEED. The appartments are pretty basic and could do with some cosmetic upgrading, however they were VERY CLEAN and the maid came daily. Bedding and towels were changed once per week. The rooms had effective fans and a kettle and toaster, as well as a fridge and 2 ring hob. The staff were friendly, though the owners could not speak great English, but understood the important words for ordering drinks etc. The son and daughter worked alternate shifts and had excellent English. The kids pool was CLEAN but tiny. Nevertheless, the adult pool had sufficient area for our son to stand up in, and there was a sloping edge all around the deep end. For the record, the adult pool was also CLEAN, even went snorkelling to make sure. We saw it being cleaned and maintained.
You will need to make sure you are prepared for the mozzi's though. Every time I go to Greece I am eaten alive. Would recommend sprays when out at dusk and plug in's for rooms. Ants are also a problem when they bite. (No ants in the rooms). As for bed bugs, I suffer from dust allergy's and if there was a problem here, i would have known about it. If this does not reaasure you, then maybe the fact the rep lives on site might.
In general these appartments are what you would expect in Greece. There may have been many problems in the past, especially when the appartments were jiont owned, (though not now), however during our stay, all seems to be resolved. They are ideal for shops and beach. Corfu town is a bus ride away and worth shopping in. The beach has fine shingle and pebbles, however once in the sea it is beautiful sand.
We had our worst meal ever in a place called Bamboo, so try and avoid unless you like it bland and salty.

Would not recommend charieta apts to anyone !

Jul 2011, djp144

Have just got back from charieta apts in dassia corfu. I went wwith 2 friends and wasnt expecting much as was a cheapish holiday. We had a blocked sink for first couple of days which one of the sons of the owners finaaly fixed. 2 out of 3 of us where bitten by what we thught were mosquitos but on reflextion believe that we may have been bitten by either fleas or bed bugs from the mattresses. we we bitten on first 2 nights and on third night after sheets were changed for first time we we bitten significantly less. Apart fro that we had a very good time untill last day. We had flights at 4.30am on friday night saturday morning so enquired about having the appartment untill late on the friday. We were told by the rep that she woulf let us know later in the week if they had the availability. We were told on the thursday that yes we could have the room till 7pm on the friday for a fee of around 20euros. We decided that as we had been told there was storage space available for our suitcases that we would just check out at normal time of 12 midday. When we came to check out we were told to leave our bags by the pool bar outside where anyone could of got to them. We then later on in the day all decided we wanted to have a shower after being on the beach and by the pool all day and a fellow guest told us we could use their shower. When my friend went up to use it one of the sons followed him and dragged him out of their appartment saying he was not allowed in there. We then thought we would use the open air shower next to the pool but as soon as one of my friends started to use it they turned the water off so he couldnt finish his shower. We also only had the toilet next to the pool bar to get changed in which didnt have a lock. We think that this was very bad customer service by the people who run cherieta appts and will definitely not be going back there again. Also the brochure said charieta appts were 100meters from the beach but it was more like 500 meters via the side of another hotel which meant you got to the beach by squeezing between the hotels resturant tables which wasnt that practical at times.

Cheap but awful

Me and my partner stayed august '10 and we found the staff very unfriendly and the hygeine was terrible. I don't beleave our bed sheets got changed once in the week we stayed and our towels didnt either, and they smelt on arrival which led me to beleave not much care had been taken to ensure a pleasant welcome. The pool was discusting it was literally black along the bottom tiles and didnt even dare go in there, a family staying at this hotel had a boy who was about 9 and his face swelled up all over from god knows what was in the pool (this was told to them by a local doctor) I'm not normally someone who complains about hotels as i prefer to be out all the time but the weather wasn't as good as hoped and it was not enjoyable having to stay in this hotel. The pool bar opened and closed when the family next to the hotel felt like it. Very dissapointed, also for people looking into going to dassia in general it's nice and quiet but me and my partner did get a bit bored and didn't have many options to do during the day and night.

Me and and 4 of my friends (AGED 19) decided to go to this place for a week as a relaxing holiday. When we got there we were slightly concerned about the size of the appartment as it appears to be quite small but it turned out to be perfect. It is quite a quiet place which is perfect. It is extremely close to shops, restaurants, beach and buses to other major places. The balcony was overlooking the pool and was lovely to sit and relax onn. The bar man and son 'chris' was a life saver and incredibily nice. Without him we wouldn't have got anywhere as it is a family business and the parents can't really speak English. One of the nights we all went to Kavos for a night out and it really made us appreciate Charietta. I would definitely reccommend this place to people looking for a quiet place but not far from life. All the bad reviews are from the previous owners. It is now a lot better...honestly.

We stayed end of July begining of Aug 08. Undoubtedly the most basic place we have ever stayed. We booked a two bed apartment and got one seperate bedroom and a plasitc shutter the sectioned off a bit of the kitchen as the 2nd. Not cleaned very well. All mosquito screens ripped, and you need the screens or keep doors shut.
So very hot in July Aug would only ever go to a place with AirCon in future.
Olympic were useless. Coach drops you at top of road and you have to carry cases down a steep slope and pick up you have to get yourselves and your cases up the slope and down to the supermarket to be collected.
The Olympic rep Matt got sacked whilst we were there. We tried to complain about our accomodation they did not want to know. You cannot contact Olympic by phone has to be by letter and they just dont answer specific questions and just dont want to know they have had their money and they wash their hands of you.
Only pluses were that beach is nearby but narrow shingle, and expensive for sunbeds which overtake the whole beach area . Corfu lovely to explore very pretty but believe what they say when they say basic they aren't kidding. Pool area reasonable but not at all sure pool cleaned with any chemicals at all. Hard wooden sunbeds . Not our best holiday experience for accomodation. at all

We have stayed in all parts of Greece...

We have stayed in all parts of Greece on a s/c basis 9 times and this appartment although basic - which it did say in the brochure - was cleaned regularly and fresh towels and sheets every 2-3 days. The kitchen by our standards was very olde worldly, but hey who goes to Greece to cook! The pool and snack bar was wonderful, very peaceful and the staff helpful, although their English was not up to long conversations, we certainly managed to get along ok.
The resort of Dassia is spoilt by the busy road, but by the end of the holiday we could cross without taking a vallium first! The beach can be busy, but is very long and kept clean. There are lots of water sports and boat trips if you want that sort of thing, but you are under no pressure to do anything but chill out. The beach is sandy at the far left hand side although the rep didn't seem to know this.
Corfu I would say felt less traditionaly Greek from all the other palces (island and mainland) that we have been to. Dassia was not too 'Brits abroad' as some of the other resorts further south such as Sidari.
Overall we had a great family holiday and would recomend Charieta Studios for those who do not expect perfection. After all you get what you pay for most of the time, so if you want higher standards pay more and stay in a hotel.

Our holiday and honeymoon at the...

Aug 2008, Mr CJ Surplice

Our holiday and honeymoon at the Charieta started badly and ended badly.
This was without a doubt the worst place i have ever paid money to travel to. We were aware that the apartment was basic as we had asked for self catering accommodation. But you expect it to be clean and functional at the very least.
We had taken our two children with us, one aged 7 and one 8 months. When we arrived at the resort we were horrified to see that the place was not clean, it was dirty, disgusting and totally awful.
We had electrical wiring sticking out of the ceiling and the area above the sink in the bathroom. The kitchen area was filthy and obviously hadn't been cleaned for months. The socket on the wall next to the sink was loose and was overloaded with one of those adaptors that were banned in the UK.
The floor area was filthy and full of dust balls and fruit left there from the previous occupants. An area of one of the walls was covered in mould, another was crumbling away on the corner where it looked as if it had been hit with something heavy and not been repaired.
The kettle boiled over and did not switch off, spraying water all over the bedroom unit(this is where the socket was, there were no spare sockets in the kitchen are). Our 7 year old daughter almost scalded herself walking past as the water sprayed out.
The fridge door was rusty and the inside was not clean. The cooker hob was filthy and we certainly didn't want to eat anything in that room.
The shower area was dirty, some of the tiles were cracked and there were pubic hairs in the tray from the previous occupants. We did not use any of the facilities in the room for fear of catching something nasty or injuring oursleves.
We had no help from our reps, we didn;t even have a number for them as they dropped us off and left very sharply(obvisouly knowing what state the room was in already). We had the emergency number for the corfu office and rang it 4 times within a 7 hour period. No help arrived and we were left there to fend for ourselves with a dirty, disgusting room to sleep in.
Needless to say we didn't stay there. We phoned a friend in the UK to book us flights out of there and we arrived back in the UK the day after we arrived in Corfu. We would have been open to be moved to another apartment if the reps had been bothered to help us, but instead they were determined to stick to their schedule.

This small family run complex of apartments are well maintained, very clean with a daily maid service. A charming, warm. easy go atmosphere can soon be felt. The traditional green shuttered complex is painted a delightful lemon and the surrounding garden is filled with lime trees, olive trees and roses providing very pretty surroundings. Although the apartments are basic they do provide a small kitchen area, shower/wc and each have their own veranda with table and chairs. The pool is kept clean and checked daily.
Charietta apartments are a short walk away from a pebble beach and charming tavernas to try out. It is not far from amenities. You can catch buses into Corfu town or other resorts/destinations. Its situation, just tucked down a small lane provides a quiet environment at night, if you choose, to be able to just sit out on your own veranda. It is suitable for families, couples old and young. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Charietta.
