We just got back after a 1 week stay. I must say that the Marinada is very good value. We stayed in the hotel not the apartments; the rooms are on a par with the travel lodge type accommodation in the UK but with no tea or coffee making facilities. The hotel is spotlessly... more

I can't understand the negative comments about this hotel. I went with 2 friends for a short break with the intention of revisiting Barcelona. The room, although dated and slightly overcrowded with 3 adults in it was clean and well maintained. The food was superb with... more

Great week !!
Stayed at the Marinada apartments, directly opposite the hotel, for 1 week , mid-June. The apartments were very nice for basic 2 star, cleaned almost every day and with plenty of room, in saying that we were a three person family in a four bed room. Didn’t use the cooker but the fridge kept the beers nice and cold. We were situated on the side that had a nightclub not far from it, however we never heard a thing in the early hours when it closed, what did keep us awake one night was the teenagers next door having a party. The staff at the hotel were very appologetic about the noise in the apartments at night and instructed the night watchman to keep an eye out for the following few nights, which he did leading to quiet evenings thereafter. Reading other reviews, I must say we are shocked to hear about the thefts, in fact I left my mobile most days in the room!! Found a geat place to eat less than a minute from apartments … Jack’s, great food & great prices. The apartments do have their own bar and a simple entertainment programme. The hotel has better quality shows but higher bar prices and a restaurant. We ate in the hotel on two nights, good buffet with plenty of choice. Heard the water park in La Pineda (bout 10 mins on bus) is superb, we went to water park at Port Aventura … disappointing!! My 11 year old began to get bored after 2 hours. Went to Fort Aventura theme park, arrived there at 3pm so got round the park with a 15 minute wait being the longest we waited to get on a ride. Only caught one show so time is tight if you want to see the shows! Park closes at midnight so I’d encourage you to get back to the main lake 20 minutes before to get a good view of the closing firework display. We wanted a cheap hot week in the sun and we would definitely recommend these apartments and would return again
Value for money
Myself, my husband and another couple, went to Salou for a long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversaries. The rooms were pretty basic, but were clean and more than adequate for the length of time we actually spent in our them! The only downside was that we were in a room on the 2nd floor facing the karaoke bar opposite, which was very loud, but this did become quiet by 11 pm - 12 p.m. Our friends had a poolside room on the 4th floor and had no noise problems at all! The food was excellent, this included king prawns and muscles at one of the dinners, not expected from a 3* hotel! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful! The pool was very cold and a little dissapointing, as it was shaded by trees for most of the day, however the beach is close by! Great location, close to all the bars and restuarants and with the bus stop close by, very convenient for the Portaventura parks (which were absolutely brilliant)!! Would highly recommend this hotel and Salou, will definitely be going back with the family next year!
Fantastic food, great for kids!
We have just returned from a week's stay at the Marinada Hotel. I my partner and my two boys aged 10 and 3 went, having never stayed in Salou before we were a bit dubious having heard that it could be quite rowdy!! Having said that we had a fantastic time at the hotel, the only down side was our room being small for a family of four, however having spoken to other brits whilst there i gathered that the self catering apartments were bigger so this is something to consider. We stayed half board in the main hotel, breakfast was great with plenty of choice, you could have cereal, continental or full english; dinner was buffet style with plenty of choice and in addition every night was a different theme so there was a seperate table for this area. The hotel itself had an indoor pool, jacuzzi, gym, sauna and a large outside pool, although the weather being very hot the pool was freezing!! There were plenty of sunbeds so i didn't have to wake up at 6am just to put beach towels out like i have had to do in the past! i would recommend this hotel and will go back again!!
Loved it!!
Stayed at the Marinada apartments (opp the hotel) for 2 weeks at the end of June. We were a bit unsure of what it would be like as we usually holiday in Greece but we loved every minute. The apartments were very nice for basic 2 star, cleaned virtually every day and with plenty of room. The only down side was that the side we were on had a nightclub not far from it which emptied about 5am and sometimes they gathered in the streets singing at the top of their voices (sounded like a football crowd). Salou itself is lovely, plenty of restaurants (we never had 1 bad meal), bars, etc but nothing too over the top. Barcelona is a good trip for Nou Camp, Zoo, etc but it is very expensive in the main town!! the water park in La Pineda (bout 10 mins on bus) is superb!! excellent dolphin and sea lion show. We came back on 9th of July and i thought this was perfect as it was getting v busy in the resort with loads more people coming over. Would defo go back, shocked to hear about the thefts in the hotel but we never knew anything about it.
Theft
well as the title suggests i had things stolen out of my room. no forced entry which suggested that it was someone with a key. i had my mobile phone stolen and would you believe my afterhave. also my creditcard but this was cancelled straight away. we reported it to reception (mary) who was absolutely fantastic and even gave us her home phone number incase of any problems. but the rest of the reception staff were uninterested. in fact one young girl thought it was amusing!!! we got the police involved and it transpired that there had been 3 robberies there that week alone. they said they have been watching the hotel and some staff for a while, so much so that they are acting as tourists for rtwo weeks under.cover to see if they can catch the thief. they said it is definitely an inside job. this was a glitch in a near perfect hotel, but a very big glitch. the money i saved by booking through ravelocity was negated by the loss of over £200 in valuables. needless to say i wont stay there again. a word of warning to you all. THERE IS A THIEF IN THIS HOTEL WITH A KEY!!!
good value for money
The Hotel was great really clean, and well looked after, We stayed half board the food was fantastic, loved everything about it , The only thing wrong was we had a Mobile Phone STOLEN out off the room, and it was not broken in to,so it was someone with a key. WOULD ADVISE YOU TO GET A SAFE , THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO SOMEBODY ELSE ON THE SAME DAY . Otherwise great..
Lovely Hotel
Just come back after a little 5 day break to Salou. This Hotel is such a lovely, spotlesley clean, rooms very nice, spacious etc. The only downfall was the food. Think twice if your staying half board or full. This was the only problem that we had. We are a family of four that stayed here, our little girl who is three didnt have 1 meal to choose from. ie last year we stayed at the San Diego and they had a childrens bar, ie serving nuggets, pizza etc. We could not make a single meal up the Marinada Hotel, food was catered for the French, German , Spanish etc. This is the only bad word that we could say about our experience in this hotel, i would say it is more of a 4 * than a 3, pools were cleaned every single morning, hotel cleaners were brilliant, did an excellent job every monring. We would have no hesitation to stay at this hotel if we could get Self Catering, we would be more than happy to eat out and just spend the daytime around the pool etc. Bar was super and barmen were pleasant. Hope this is suffice x
wicked
it was my first time abroad and a surprise holiday from my fiance and it was wicked, we went in may 2004. The best partof my holiday was when my fiance got dragged up on stage and his head put in a guliteen, lol. The fact of the matter was he sparked a fag up so they wouldnt choose him but they did anyway, haha. the half board menu was fantastic but we only made it to breakfast once. The squid or octupus )watever it was) was gorgeous. If going into the clubs at night dont say to promotion people you will pay to get in. Just say thanks but your going to a free club down the road an no doubt they will take you for free and give you a free drink.
Good budget deal
These apartments are opposite the hotel of the same name. This allows guests to use the facilities of the hotel. The apartments are fairly basic but clean. The electric rings on the cooker were old but just about functional. The apartments are centrally located just off the main street of the tourist area. The locals live a couple of kilometres away. It's worth exploring the residential area as supermarkets and the local indoor market offer cheaper prices than the shops near to the Marianada itself. The jewellery and clothes shops in the main residential area also offer high quality goods at reasonable prices, not just tourist trash that falls to pieces before you get it home. The apartments do have their own bar and a simple entertainment programme. The hotel has better quality shows but higher bar prices and a restaurant. Although the complex is sufficiently distanced from the raucous of the discos it can still get rather noisy late evening especially in the summer as nearby hotels have open air shows. The midnight shutdown is not observed too strictly unfortunately. The accomodation is reasonable value for money with basic self catering facilities and good accessibility to entertainment and recreational venues.
Would return for sure!
I would really recommend this hotel. The staff was very friendly and nice, the food was really very good because of the big variety! for the price, it is a really great hotel! the pool wasnt that great, but i think, being at the see and spending time at the pool is a waste anyways! Would go back anytime!
