We found this Hotel to be ideally located in the Old Town. Less than a 10 min walk to the Beach and Cafes, Bars and Shops etc practically on the doorstep. The pool was nice and we had no problem with our room at all. It could be a bit noisy at night depending on where... more

Basic, very clean, friendly hotel

We are just back from Albufeira having stayed at Hotel California for 1 week. Very basic hotel - clean and friendly. Reception open 24 hours. Only bad point was breakfast - OK if you want cereal or rolls - cooked breakfast served on a sideplate - pretty awful. We went out for breakfast every day. No hairdryers in rooms. Would probably try elsewhere next time. more

ALBUFEIRA Hotel California 19th September 2006 Trip Advisor member Just returned from 2 weeks at the Hotel California. Great location with easy access to beaches and nightlife. Contrary to the previous review we found that most of the loud music finished around midnight and once we were in our room with windows shut and air conditioning on we could hear nothing. Hotel staff are very friendly and the hotel is situated only a few minutes walk to the beach. Rooms are basic but clean. Insist on a balcony as we didn't get one and only had a rather shabby roof outside the window and nowhere to dry towels etc. The only small pool is on the 6th floor and has the most uncomfortable sun loungers I have ever come across. Hence no worries about getting the towels out early to reserve them! I would suggest that you don't go half bord as you have to order your food the day before which is a bit like... more

Stayed in this hotel for a week. Three couples looking for a fun holiday. Hotel is very convenient as you just walk outside and you are on the main street. Breakfast is great and you can eat as much as you like. Its also close to the beach which is very handy. One downside though......the staff could be a little friendlier (el grumpo)! People who work at reception are really lovely......woman serving breakfast, lighten up!!! Other than that, a great place to stay! Would reccommend. more

We stayed at the California in the very centre of Albufeira Old Town for a week in June. The building, which is on one of the busiest pedestrian tourist streets in town, doesn't look pre-possessing from the outside, but once we got through the front doors, we were pleasantly surprised by a modern-looking, smart and clean hotel with friendly reception. After reading the reviews previously posted we were delighted to find everything was as said. great location very friendly staff good room sizes and all in all a terrific bargin. we paid £180 for the week for my wife and I including breakfast. The hotel is right in the middle of the old town and as you step out of the hotel you step into the bars and restraunts plus the local bands playing. although in your room you can not really hear much other than a slight hum of the air con. Great Position

Stayed for a short break at Hotel California middle of March, very clean, very friendly and a perfect position in the town for an out-of-season break,even allowing for the road works surrounding the area it was still possible to wander around and enjoy the fishermans beach. Weather was reasonable, certainly much warmer than back home. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant of the hotel, and whilst the choice was limited, the food was good and nicely presented (there were only two tables occupied). more

Stayed for seven nights, and cannot find fault with the hotel, save for the very cold swimming pool! This was probably due to the time of year, as the sun never shone on the pool, but was on the sun bathing area. The hotel was right in the centre, 2 minutes from the beach and right in the middle of the night life, although this couldn't be heard from your room. Check out is supposed to be midday, but probably due to the time of year they extended it till 15:00 for us when we asked. I would definitely stay here again. more

We have just returned from a short break in the Hotel California, Albufeira. The hotel was everything we were hoping for and a little more. Very central location giving quick easy access to the beautiful sandy fishermans beach. The central location also means that heading out for dinner and a few drinks is simplicity itself. The old town central area is a bit on the noisy side and the party last until quite late in the evening but we found with the excellent double glazed patio doors closed and the air conditioning humming softly away... more

angelina in reception makes you welcome as soon as you arrive. Rooms clean and the setting for breakfast is great. I have been to the hotel five times and everytime i have never had any complaints. Would recomend this hotel.
