absolutely shocking. dirty rooms....
1 / 10
Sep 2008, Miss A Waddington

absolutely shocking. dirty rooms. rude staff. disgraceful food.
for 2.5* we were expecting a little more hygiene! dirty sheets which did not get changed ONCE the whole 8 days we were there. room service was appalling and the little they did was scruffy.
we got treated with no respect whatsoever and were quite obviously not cared about at all.
manager was selfish.
not spent one day by the pool as the area was swarmed with wasps! you could not leave your drinks or food for 2 seconds without a wasp landing in it!
we came all inclusive, got told there was a wide range of local drinks available to us which never once did we come across in any bars or shops!
never once did we eat at the hotel after trying dinner on our first night, spent most of our money eating out which left us with no money to do what we originally planned on doing so.
we do not recommend this hotel to anyone! not even our worst enemys. truely a shocking shocking holiday...

Tilemachos hotel as other people...
1 / 10
Sep 2008, Mrs Daglish

Tilemachos hotel as other people have commented this is by no doubt the worst holiday we have ever had, dirty pool rude staff if they didnt like the questions asked, wasps making it impossible to relax ,drinks that had been spilt and not washed away made it worse, being ripped off by the staff i was charged twenty euros for one coke two wkds and a larger, sewage smells every evening, some of our rooms were not cleaned properly, towels still had dirty marks on them when they were suposed to have been cleaned, many of us didnt bother with the food as that wasnt very good either, and the sight of the rather large manager wiping sweat from his underarms and face and neck with servietes didnt help the food go down,a rat was spotted on a couple of occasions running throught the dinning room, and while i am on the subject of animals the cats on the hotel premises looked like they were all full of fleas and worms really thin looking, on our last day we asked if we could use the lounge as we had to vacate our room by 12am we were told yes but it had to be cleaned at three we left while they did the job but when it was finished they locked the door so we couldnt get back in when i asked why we couldnt use it the assistant manager said that it had just been cleaned and could not be used until 7 pm when i again asked why we could not use the lounge he completly ignored me and walked away later talking to other staff and what seemed to us that he was pointing us out this is just some of the things about this hotel i could go on and on we read some of the comments before going on the hotel but thought they were expecting too much for a two star hotel i dont think it should have any stars at all

Aug 2008, Mrs W Crowie

Well, dont think there is a lot to add to top what has already been mentioned. All i can say is we were glad that we was bed and breakfast, the food was a disgrace, the hotel is a rotton pit and pool needs to be cleaned and scrubbed. the children with us all ended up with eye, ears and throat infections and i can assure you this was the pool.
If you are lucky enough to stay in the new block it is a god send and they rooms are actually quite nice.
Oh get a security box or carry your important belongings with you, we had out passports stolen from the room and 300 euros later we managed to get temp replacements and still have to replace our passports now.
Ok you say you pay for what you get, but the attitude of the majority of the staff is way below acceptable.
Once you leave the hotel and venture down the road there are some nice restaurants its a bit trail and error as everyone has different tastes.
Aqua park is a great day out for the entire family although food and drink expensive we spent 7 hours there and really enjoyed ourselves.
Overall we would go back to Corfu but not anywhere near tilemachos. I would of given this hotel a minus if the option was available. We had one rep leave whilst there as they were constantly trying to deal with complaints.
Nothing more to say other than beware and if you have the chance to change hotels before you travel i would pay a bit extra and change.

Aug 2008, Mrs CJ COLLINS

Oh how we wish we had read the reviews prior to booking our holiday! We have never before had to complain about a hotel, but the Tilemachos was so bad we feel we owe it to other holiday makers.
We booked bed and breakfast as our families vegetarian dietry requirements are often difficult for hotels to accommodate and we prefer to eat out at a variety of restaurants to get a full flavour of the resort.
On arrival in the early hour of the morning no water or drinks were available to buy. We were advised to get a drink at breakfast some 4 hour later. When allocated a room we specifically asked for air conditioning and tried to pay for this at reception. The male receptionist on duty complained that he should not have to be there as it was not his job and told us we would have to pay for the air conditioning the following morning. On entering the room it was obvious the room had no air conditioning. The room had 4 beds in a row and a bathroom. 1 bed was a small, rusty, noisey, dirty, stained camp bed and we had 3 pillows for 4 people. The bathroom was dirty with cobwebs in the corners etc. The sink cracked, the shower curtain mouldy, toilet seat broken, no toilet roll and the bathroom shelf had a dirty tissue laid across it. The wardrobe was covered in graffiti on the inside and the room was generally in a tired state. The patio doors had several holes drilled into them and had obviously had many changes of locks fitted (not good as we were on the ground floor). The next morning we asked a chambermaid for a pillow, her response was 'no'. A male worker asked what we wanted which resulted in an argument between them in front of us. The chambermaids continued to be rude and unhelpful through out our stay leaving the patio doors open virtually every day dispite several requests that they be locked. The sheets and towels were changed only once in the fortnight we stayed and on that occassion they did not replace the towels and left us a sheet short. Our son was ill for a few days during our stay and requied medical attention. On the first day of his illness the chambermaids entered our room, physically pushing our daughter out of the way whilst he lay in bed (approx 9:50am). We asked them to give him 10 minutes to get up and to our suprise, the chambermaid started shouting loudly at us saying 'I give you 1 minute, not 10' and refused to leave our room. We complained to staff about this and asked that the room was not cleaned again until our son recovered. When he felt better and was able to get up we informed reception that the room could be cleaned again. It was not cleaned again for the remaining 3-4 days of our stay.
The food and drinks were poor. Breakfast was poor quality and far too early 8-9:30 (not good when you have been kept awake until the early hours by noise) but really not worth getting up for. We saw a family with a small child whose table was swimming in juice have to sit and eat their breakfast in it. No-one came to change the table or to help them. We endured breakfast twice and then didn't bother again. Drinks at the bar were warm and we were charged different prices for the same drinks each time. One glass of white wine we ordered clearly smelt of another drink (peach smell) yet when we asked the barman to change it he argued that it didn't, only after we really insisted did he simply tip the drink into another glass and hand it back. We left it and did not drink there again!
The pool area was grubby and inadequate and we used it only twice. We were told 'go now, finnished' 45 minutes earlier than was advertised on our first day. We saw a man with a young family accidentally knock a glass over with a pool inflatable. He was picking up splinters of broken glass with his bare fingers whilst 3 staff stood arms crossed, watching him. No-one offered to help or provided a brush.
The majority of the staff were rude and unhelpful. On returning to the hotel one night, one of the male staff in reception referred to one of us a 'malaka' they did not expect anyone not Greek to understand what it meant, unfortunately we did! This type of attitude continued throughout our stay. The male holiday rep was completely ineffective and offered no suport at all.
We have never been treated this badly anywhere before. The only person who treated us well was the female receptionist from Germany who was always professional and attentive.
This was a cheep holiday and so we had no high expectations of facilities etc and expected basic accommodation. However, we did not expect to be treated so badly and spoken to so rudely by hotel staff. Our impression of Corfu has been tainted by this experience which is a shame as it it such a lovely island, but we will not be going back!

I booked this holiday as it was...
1 / 10
Aug 2008, MAKES

I booked this holiday as it was cheap, my son and his friend had a budget for two weeks so I wasn't expecting a 5 Star, and Just £435 for a fortnight all inclusive was good.
After reading the reviews I expected the worst of the rooms, however I asked for our room to have air conditioning for the 95 Euros for the 2 weeks even though it leaked and we had bins and towels behind the beds to soak up the water., the two lads weren't bothered, we were put in the old block which isn't as bad as some say, the room was what we would have expected as we've been to many greek resorts before, the linen was clean and changed very often something you don't get in other hotels and the towels were regularly changed too, the floors were a bit grubby with hairs and dust etc, but to be honest I think the hotel maids were doing their best considering the amount of people in the hotel, if anything they were short staffed... the all inclusive bar was manic so much so the poor lad behind the counter doing drinks and eats ended up with help in our second week, this is the main cause of the wasp dilemma as food and drinks left on the tables weren't cleared away so the wasps had a field day. The pool area was also manic not enought beds for 200 guests and hardly enough parasols the pool itself was like Pea Soup you couldn't see the bottom. The food bit.. we never ever went to breakfast my lads said it wasn't worth getting up for so we opted for a toastie round the pool, we ate one lunch which if you have kids has only water to drink at lunch unless you prefer to go hike over to the pool inclusive bar and bring your pop with you it was pretty basic all we did was two barbi que meals and two evening meals in the fortnight as said it was pretty basic so we chose to eat out 10 nights .... which comes to our main gripe
we met a couple with a young baby on bed & breakfast basis .. we spent every day down at the beach so never used the hotel until say around 4pm for a couple of drinks then went for a lie down, however one evening I ordered a hot dog which I couldn't eat and my husband gave it to the couple along with a plastic glass with 1/2 lager in it which they took with them to their room so the baby could sleep, within minutes the manager came over to myself my husband and my son and stated "you, you and you in reception NOw", I have never felt so humiliated in my life around a poolside, it was like being frogmarched into the hotel whereupon the owner railroaded us for giving the hotdog and a drink away, granted we did see his point of view but there should have been more diplomacy in addressing us not to mention he grabbed my arm and cut off my all inclusive band with a whopping pair of scisscors! by this time I was in tears as I wasnt' the one who gave the hot dog away, my husband was irate at the way he was shouting at us and after a heated few minutes the owner told me to go back in for thw wristband which I refused, the manager was more diplomatic and later in the evening asked if I was ok and to go for the band to be replaced which I did two days later on his insistance.
We spent 48 Euros the first night on whisky and the paying bar and went to bed stone cold sober so can only assume the drinks are not what they seem, we then opted to buy a bottle of grants whisky at the supermarket which was 11Euro and lasted us over a couple of nights!
Olympics brochure stated it was centrally located and on an incline THE TRUTH IS ITS ON CARDIAC HILL I am only in my 40's and in the heat it kills you getting round to the top walking.
Dassia itself is very quiet, we spent most of our time at the Chandris their pools are immaculate and the hotel staff a credit to them, they didn't mind us using their pool bar and snack bar either.
The plus side was the people we met there holidaying we met such a lovely crowd, bang on and rock and roll !!!

stayed for two weeks all inclusive at...

Aug 2008, Mr A Hefferon

stayed for two weeks all inclusive at the telemachos from the first of august and feel the need to write a review for the first time ever.paid the extra 90 euros for the aircon wich was a godsend due to the 40 degree heat. the rooms were really quite nice and for a two star, excellent. maid service for us was very good although i did hear some complaints from other guests. so it was pretty good right ?
wrong!
it was the worst holiday i have ever had by a country mile. the all inclusive is a complete rip off. finishes at 9.30 and and the drinks are all watered down and the cheapest beer and spirits available . and the food! icannot possibly describe to you how disgraceful the food is. please beleive me as i am a chef by trade and love to try the local dishes when i am away so im not a chip eating brit. unrecognisable dishes served in long trays like a canteen spooned out by a grotty looking guy who thinks he can cook. everything was luke warm including the salad, and things were reused not once but some times three times. there was spaghetti neopolitan on monday, cheese sauce added tuesday so it was pink, and then it was thickened wednesday and called cheese pie still with the spaghetti in! absolutely appalling presentation and a couldnt care less attitude were the norm not just in the dining room. these people dont care about anything they do and view guests as an inconvenience. it is not enough to say it is just a two star. im not after five star service just a smile would do! .
went all inclusive and spent a thousand pounds eating out and getting a drink that was in a real glass . dassia is pretty but very very quiet. in the two weeks there was one duo in one pub and a few karaoke nights and that was it. far too quiet for us but i understand people may like that. i think maybe the hotel spoiled the resort for us so please be aware that dassia and ipsos next door are good resorts with fantastic beaches just dont stay at the telemachos.

We booked this family holiday before...
1 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs J Egerton

We booked this family holiday before reading the reviews BIG MISTAKE !! We arrived at the hotel at lunchtime having been delayed at the airport in corfu and were told to wait in a smokey area until the arrogant german woman on reception called us for our keys . We waited nearly one hour with three hungry and thirsty children , there were no drinks available and anyone brave enough to approach reception to ask for one was given an ear bashing by the german woman and told to WAIT !!!
Our rooms were dirty to say the least ! Our bin by the toilet had used tissue in it URGH! the sink was not attatched to the wall and it fell on to my 5 yr old daughter , the shower curtain was mouldy and the shower cubicle had wires sticking out of it . The plug and light fittings were all very loose but not as loose as the balcony doors which did not even shut let alone lock . The floor had not been mopped prior to our arrival and when my husband spilt some suncream and wiped it with a tissue he found what can only be discribed as poo on the tissue !! . We did complain to matt at the welcome meeting but nothing was done about it .
In our room we noticed the air con unit outside had leaked into the room leaving a massive puddle by the bed when i told the german lady she shouted at ME i'd broken it apparently having the air con that i'd paid for on too low , Very hard to believe since it was our first hour there and had not even put it on yet , but hey i wasn't arguing with her .
Breakfast was ok just what you would expect of a 2* we found eating out expensive and hard work climbing up the steep hill in the heat , so we stuck to snacks around the pool bar but found the swarms of wasp a nuisance but as the guy serving at the bar was trying to serve drinks , food and clean up on his own , the left over food on plates waiting to be moved just added to the problem .
The pool for the little ones was so dirty that it was 4 days into our holiday we realised there was a tiled picture at the bottom of the pool , the water was that muggy you could not tell it was there . The pool steps were very sharp and all three of my girls cut themselves .
I have noticed other reviews saying their sheets were changed , well ours were not change at all during our stay , nor our towels i only saw the maids in our room once they must just clean the new block .
The noise at night was appalling some nights upto 3 am you could hear the manager shouting very loud at other guest daring to go out and have fun and then come home late ! Come on guys your at the telemachos its lights out by 1am !!
On the day of departure YIPPEE GOING HOME we were made to leave our room at 12 but by 11.30 management wanted us out and were tapping there watches . We sat on chairs by the pool until 1am then when the bar shut were forced to sit on the hotel steps until the coach arrived as management would not let us sit inside .Other guest dont like the noise apparantly what a joke !
I have never been glad to go home from a holiday before but can say i felt like i'd just spent a week in a detention centre !
Other holiday makers that have added good reviews can i just say im happy you enjoyed it and we did have a good laugh and met some wonderfull likeminded guest at the hotel but don't knock us ! We had a bad time and are giving honest reviews just as you did , we are no snobs and didn't expect the ritz just didn't expect to save up for a holiday and end up in the slums !!

Aug 2008, Mr Rm Scott

we have just returned from the tilemachos hotel, this is our third visit to this hotel.the hotel is great, the staff are helpfull and do like a laugh. the cleaners do not stop working all day, the hotel is clean and tidy. the food is very nice and varied. if you are expecting five star then pay for five star. you will have a great time at this hotel we are already planning to book for next year. we are not the only people to return to this hotel many do return every year and from the comments i received most people were happy with the hotel. you will always get someone who is not happy so just go and enjoy it.

Aug 2008, Mrs H Cowen

My husband, 2 girls (1 14 years old & 1 6 years old), my self and my parents having read all of the negative reviews before we came away we sort of knew what to expect and were not expecting 5 star treatment! We were pleasantly supprised, we paid the extra 90 Euros to stay in the newer end and it was well worth the money, the room was lovely, clean & air con fab, overlooking the pool which we could see the entertainment.
The staff were ok, the food not so good, so we spent a fortune eating out on our second week.
Dassia was a nice resort, lots of lovely bars & resturants.A boat trip to Kassiopi on Gregorys boat for 40 Euros was a must.
All in all the holidays was ok my 14 year old wants to go back so it couldnt have been that bad! We met some fantastic people from Portsmouth who we are still in touch with and who made our holiday.
At the end of the day a holiday is what you make it!!

Aug 2008, Mrs T Roscow

Holiday from hell!!!!
my husband and i are far from snobs and at only 25 and 32 are not too old to make the most of somewhere but this place was a joke.
our room was filthy, our bed broken,
our balcony did not lock, the shower was filthy and only had cold water, our bedding and towels were not changed once in our stay.
we complained to Mat the rep for olympic and he did not want to know. we got told off management after complaining that he and 3 holiday makers were arguing at 3.30 am outside our room to "shut up and go to bed". The food was terrible the staff were terrible (excluding the pool side bar staff who were friendly)the whole holiday was bad and i would never ever go back. if you've paid pennies to go its what you expect but mine was not pennies and i got pontins without the entertainment!!

Aug 2008, Mrs M Southern

i have just come back from a two week stay at the tilemachos, i was expecting the worst after reading the bad reviews, but i was plesantly suprised. i went with my partner and 3 children 1 being only a baby. when we got there we were disapointed to be put in the old building as it ad no air conditioning and then we were given a travel cot that didn't work but that was no fault of the resort as it was supplied by olypic. my partner went and spoke to reception and we were given a family room on the new block within an hour. i must agree the sun loungers could do with being replaced with new ones and more umberellas are needed. the food got a bit manotinous in the second week, but so do most all inclusive holidays. we found all staff ,bar 1 waiter, very friendly and helpful.we meet some brilliant people there, which helped make our stay a good experience. i would say remember how much you pay for this holiday and stop complaining to all those who gave it a bad review.
