Chips with everything
2 / 10
Jul 2009, The spoonies

We have just returned from our holiday to the Telemachos Hotel. We are so glad to be home!. This is the worse hotel we've ever stayed in. The room was terrible, the toilet seat disgusting, the shower wasn't even on a hook and our bed fell apart one night.
The food was awful. Where was the tradional Greek food? Why were chips served at every mealtime except breakfast? Why was a mince dish served at every mealtime except breakfast? And what was that sweet cake? It wasn't sweet and its not like any cake I've ever eaten!
What a waste of a lovely lounge area closing at 9.30pm. No spirits served in the lounge area, no Gin and Tonic of an evening in this lounge. We were served by a not too clean looking young man who questioned my husband like a criminal when he asked for four beers even though we were a party of four.
Beware if you have an early morning flight home. You are kicked out of your room at midday and have to sit outside round the pool getting cold waiting for your transport because they won't let you sit in the lounge. We had no offer of refreshment at that time. We just wanted to get home.

  • Advice: Visit Gouvia at night, lovely atmosphere, lots of restaurants serving real Greek food.

Great Holiday, Great Price

Just come home from a most enjoyable holiday to boot. Had booked the holiday because of the cheap price, convenience of all inclusive, and a change from the 18/30 circuit.
Anyone who moans or complains about the hotel, location etc, should have just chilled out and enjoy their holiday. Food was great (chips, fresh salad, fresh bread, veg,) with a different choice of mains each night. A list of the food for the evening meal (which was 3 course) was placed on a board each night by the restaurant, so you could make up your mind to eat in or not.
The "hill" as some call it, is not so extravagant, apart if you're wearing heels, and there is plenty to do for children, eg the little park and the pool area. If you want something more extravagant go to Disney Land!!
The entertainment was alright, with quiz, greek dancing, and karaoke, but the excursions offered by Olympic away from the hotel were great, and you got to see more of the island. I would reckomend any of the daily cruises, and the greek night. Plus late night shopping in Corfu Town was excellent.
The staff were very pleasant, and always said hello, and if everything was fine. Alcohol was refreshing, and was in abundance, but orange "juice" is a no no!
We stayed in the old part of the hotel, and the room was clean and bright. Towels and sheets were changed regularly,
Would highly recomend to anyone, and would definitely go back. Only down side was the stormy weather, but quite happy cos we got the tan we wanted.

THIS MUST THE WRONG HOTEL

After booking the holiday I read the reviews and cried out "oh no".The wife asked what was wrong,so I showed her seven reviews five of which put our holiday in a bad light.
On arrival we were booked in an orderly manner which was much better than the usual scamble to be first to the desk.
The accommodation was clean and tidy, which was attended to on a regular basis,so three cheers to the cleaners.
Now to the food ,being a buffet service I was not expecting piping hot food to be served but to my suprise the hot dishes were hot and the salad dishes were fresh and crisp. So a great big THANK YOU to Derek the chef and all the kitchen staff.
The entertainment was shall we say slightly on the light side.Ihave seen better and I definately seen worse.
After the first week I turned to my wife and said remember those reviews we read before the holiday,It must be the wrong hotel,or it could be that they have changed all the staff just for us.
The only two downsides to the holidays enjoyment were ,the lack of sunbeds and some of our holidaymakers who seem to have come away to complain may be they are those people who complain hoping to get a refund or free holiday,my ears are ringing with their whinging, lets forget about them.
A great holiday ,possibly the best holiday I have had for years,so once again to all the staff thank you for making my holiday.I am already looking at next years holidays and will return to TELEMACHOS.

Okay, me and my mother do not DO all inclusive holidays, so, due to the rate of the Euro at the minute, we figured it would be a good time to try it. After we booked it, we stupidly read the reviews and can i just say we were tempted to cancel because certain made the place out to be a stinking cess-pit of eternal doom. If you are expecting said cespit on your arrival, you will be disappointed.
The hotel, f you remember, is a two and a half star place. The food is superb, me and mother are naturally quite fussy eaters, but there was something on the menu for us everyday. The chef is an exceptionally nice man and makes dinner a very relaxed atmosphere.
The staff are all lovely, yes there are one or two fawlty towers/ benidorm characters knocking about (ERIC! ALWAYS TEXTIN!) but genuinely, the nicest staff I have met. Valerie and her auntie are lovely women and so is chef (but not a woman...).
The All Inclusive bar is open from 10am to 9:30 pm. This is not the hotel's decision but Olympic's. They also take a vast amount of the money you pay for your holiday, so the hotel only have £9.50 to play with per person per day inc. breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Hoew they manage it i dont know because I came back about 5 stone heavier. Snacks on the bar include toasties, pizzas, hotdogs, and gorgeous ice cream. the drinks are, orangeade, orange juice, lime andlemonade, lemonade and rola cola. There is beer, bacardi, vodka, gin, whisky and brandy to boot.
Dassia is a lovely village/town, it is VERY QUIET, there is one nightclub, which, i hear, isnt much cop so if you want a clubbin holiday, dassia is not the place to go. It sdoes have lovely supermarkets, tavernas and views. ALSO, thesea front is all shingle so do not expect sand, get a sunlounger for 5 euros, with parasol, for the day.
The only two criticisms i have for the hotel are, the lack on sunbeds, there are aot but tthey often run out, so, sadly, we had to resort to the german regime of getting up at stupid o'clock in the morning to get beds as mymother was disabled and needed to be comfortable throughout.
The second criticism was the lack of space for people when we were waiting to be picked up. Naturally we had an awful flight time of three in the morning and we had only got the room to 12 non the day previous, we did get to keep the room on for 30 euros until 7 pm, byt the hotel was fully booked.
Other than this, we made so many friends it was unreal. Everythig you should want is there and I cannot get over how lovely the staff were and the people. We are already looking into going again next year.
P.S. the only people that complain about this holiday are the borish brits who want EVERYHTING for nothing, and also people who went bed n breakfast, i do think this hotel shud just be all inclusive.

Great Holiday (not as bad as led to believe)

Stayed all inclusive for 1 week commencing 8th June - absolutely bricking it after reading the reviews!! wish I hadn't read all the negative ones and just read the good ones!!
Directed to lounge area on arrival, given a cold drink and then called to reception to book in (great idea as 3 bus loads arrived close together and would have been manic loitering in the reception area waiting to get booked in)
Offered 4 star at 40 Euros and Aircon but opted for the 2.5 star (not in our room very often anyway)it was basic with no TV! great who needs it anyway - its a holiday away from every day life but more importantly it was clean and bins emptied daily and sheets/towels changed three times during our stay (normal for any country I have been to) If its the ritz your looking for then pay the price!!!!
Management, bar staff, cleaners and cooks were all very nice and pleasant. The Scottish chef was great - food a bit repetitive just like all all inclusive but for once I did not get a stomach upset and that is saying something. Where in the UK can you eat as much as you want and drink as much as you want between 0800hrs and 2130hrs for £300 for the week!!
Yes the 2130 cut off time for drinks on AI board was annoying and if it wasn't for the £ being weak then drinking out and eating out would have been a bargain. No difference from the UK but thats not the hotels fault.
Negative comments about the German Manager being abrupt etc on previous reviews are totally and utterly unfounded - she was very pleasant and helpful and greeted you whenever passing reception.
Entertainment wasn't great but at least there was something on at night and if it wasn't your cup of tea then go elsewhere.
Our flight times were good - vacate room at 12 midday and pick up at 1215 - however its not the hotels fault if your flight home is at 12 midnight or later - ITS THE TOUR OPERATORS!!! complain to them (and its no different from anywhere else) or don't book the holiday if you have night flight times.
Reviews about wasps - well I think I saw 3 wasps all week and not a problem - again not hotels fault - its nature for gods sake.
Sunbeds were in abundance but quite a few were broken but in time I am sure the hotel will upgrade just like everything else.
No complaints about pool or anything really.
If you have booked and are worried then don't be - holidays are what you make it - if you want to go clubbing and have a night life and sleep all day then maybe this is not the resort for you but for a quiet chill out break away from manic life at home then I am sure you will have a good time.
Drifters bar at the bottom of the (small) hill and to the left is british owned and run by a very nice couple who even have on the big screen itv soaps to make you feel at home!
The (hill) aint that bad either unless of course you are very elderly or lazy!!! Great way of losing calories!!!!
Resort of Dassia is very quiet but good for chilling out and if you want the buzz then only 20 minute local bus trip to Corfu Town. Plenty of eating/drinking places and shops selling the usual tat!
Enjoy your stay and look at the positive reviews - bin the negative.

Fantastic Holiday - Shame about the other holidaymakers

We arrived in the early hours of the morning of the 13th June 2009.
On arrival we were placed in the bar/dining area to be checked in as there was a large group of travellers from Manchester & Gatwick. To make it as fair as possible they checked us in aphabetically. When checking in, we had requested the new (4*) hotel block. This was 40 euros for the full week, however this included a room with air conditiong, large bathroom & bedroom & balcony.
The rooms were light & airy, however as the other side of the hotel was 2.5* the cleaning of the four star was that of the 2.5* section, unfortunately attention to detail was not their strong point. But I MUST put across that the room was livable and by no means 'dirty'.
The food was lovely, alot of people complained, one even stated 'it wasn't fit for a pig', but I'd love to see exactly what this lady would cook at home on a week night? The food was lovely, although not traditional greek food, it still was edible & tasty! One night we had an outdoor BBQ which again was lovely.
The pool area was clean, one day the pool had lots of dead flies in it, however the filter system was not working. For the rest of the holiday it was clean and you could see your feet at the bottom of the pool, fantastic large pool!
The entertainment on a night was, shall we say, interesting. However it kept us entertained till 12 (midnight) and was the butt of alot of jokes on holiday. It may seem harsh, but it really was funny.
The all inclusive drinks were from 10am to 21.30pm including, ouzo, vodka, gin, whiskey, beer, wine and soft drinks. The snack were available from 10am to 20.00pm this included hot dogs, toasties, pizza & ice cream (may I add, I was ADDICTED to the chocolate ice-cream, it was gorgeous!) all these were served through a hatchet outside the 4* section of the hotel.
We met some fantastic people who all went on holiday with the same mindset, 'A holiday is what you make of it' on the other hand there were alot of people who let the side down by constantly complaining at all sorts of things, ie. The staffs moods (Remember your in a foreign country, not all cultures are the same as english, or do some people really not understand that?) the food, (it was lovely there was absoloutley no problem with it), the cleanliness of the rooms and changing of sheets, (how many times do you change them at home?) the list is endless.
Overall it was a fantastic holiday, we rented a quad for most of the stay, I felt safer on one of these than I would a car. We got to see the Island and experience some real beautiful villages, stunning scenery etc. Dassia is currently very geared towards the english, ie. English breakfast for a £ and similar. If you don't like this then I still would suggest this resort as it is right in the middle of the Island and to rent a quad for 3 days we only paid 70 euros. Definitley worth it!
Hopefully my honest review will help you choose your holiday, always remember though, it is a 2.5 * hotel do NOT expect the Ritz! Greece is basic at the best of times. Just enjoy your holiday for what it is for and don't turn into some of the monsters that were staying here, who never shut up complaining! It was £270pp all inclusive - YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THAT!

Tilemachos Dassia - Great Value for Money
8 / 10
Jun 2009, Mike and Chris
 's photos of Telemachos Hotel

We made a late booking for this hotel and were very pleasantly surprised at the fantastic value for money of the holiday. We stayed in the new block and paid the supplement for A/C which was worth it. Rooms were fine with double and twin. good bathroom, wardrobe and balcony, cleaned every day. Food choice was not huge but quantity and quality were excellent, chef was a delight, Drinks were as stated in brochure, beers, wine soft drinks and local spirits, finishing at 9.30pm was a bit too early and could be annoying.poolside snacks were also very well received. Entertainment provided was OK and the pool and poolside were spotless and overall better than we expected. Staff were all (with one exception) very friendly and helpful and the car hire from the hotel was very cheap, no extras to pay and very good value. All in all we both had an excellent holiday and I would have no reservation in recommending it to all and would go back again.

  • Advice: Don.t believe the moaning reviews - some people moan as a hobby.

Best holiday I've ever had, in Dassia

What can I say. Never have I ever encounted a holiday like this. I've been to 5 star hotels in the carribean before and none have compared to this 2 star master piece! The food was great, you have to meet the chef, half Scottish half Greek, who put on an all inclusive cuisine worthy of a michalin star or two.
The rooms were large if you upgraded your room on arrival to the 4 star room for a small fee which included air conditioning.. The pool was large and warm with a kids play pool located near by and a modern swing and slide set could keep kids entertained for hours.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and advised you were to go for trips so not to get ripped off by your rep for identical tours.
The bar staff kept your alcohol levels topped up throughout your stay up until 21.30 at night. The staff's English speaking skills were not great but a little patience and politeness goes a long way when it comes to getting more beer than you should be allowed.
Beer o'clock starts at ten in the morning, and when the bar shuts you can dial 00 00 00 01 from your phone and get drinks brought to your room!!
On the ratings, there was something missing. I want to rate the holiday makers, with the exception of a few. Never have I been so ashamed to be English when I see people waving there all inclussive wrist bands at waiters and shouting "I pay your [--] wages, you should show me respect cos I'm English you disrespectful W**ker!". And English complaining that the bar shuts at 21.30, even though this is clearly stated in the brochure. I didn't realise we were a nation full of moaners and cry babies. Its not surprising the rest of Europe hates us. So if you want to go on holiday for a good time, come here. Just take some ear plugs to drown out the moaning English.

worst all inclusive hotel ever

"warning" if you have children and are booking this hotel or have book then dont or get a refund this hotel is the worst all inclusive hotel i,ve have ever stayed in. on arriveing at the hotel we were offered an upgrade to the new part of the hotel with air conditioning for an exrta 40 euro which we took i must say the room was nice and large but add an bad mouldy smell none of the rooms come with a tv. at this point i must point out that we check in at recepion 6am saturday later that day we wear told by the rep we had to check out at 12 noon the following friday and with are flight at 6am saturday when i complian to the rep that we had paid for seven night she said becouse are plane left at 11.45pm friday that was classed as a night and which ment we had 16 hours before leaveing we were offered a room extension for an extra 30 euro which obviously we took as we have two young children so after paying are money we were told we would have to pack up buy 12noon friday and move from are room to the other side of the complex to the little pokie room with two single beds which we some how had to sleep in so we had payed 40 euro to upgrade and 30 euro to downgrade what a joke. there is nothing at all for the kids no kids clubs no enterainment at night for them they have a small park which consists of a roundabout slide and a seesaw all deathtraps and then a tiny padding pool as for food they have snack though the day pizzer hotdogs toasties place your order god knowes when it arrives the longiest was an hour the main meals breakfast lunch tea lets say if you like the same food ever day and no choice and no dessert or fruit then this is for you i would say this hotel is suited for coulples and most definiteiy "not" for familys and yes it was a cheep holiday but i would say this was beyond cheep it is a terrible terrible hotel. ever though you think your saving money your not dont book it

I'd stay here again
7 / 10
May 2009, SusanM

My partner and I paid less than £250 each for the flight, transfers and hotel and we definitely got our money's worth! If I pay this amount for an ENTIRE holiday and I get clean, comfortable accommodation that is close to the beach and shopping areas with an excellent (every 15 mins) bus service into the main town, then it's definitely good value for money. I'm really disheartened to see reviews slagging the place off when it's typical Greek accommodation. Our room was cleaned daily, sheets and towels were changed during our stay (how often do you change your sheets at home? I hardly believe it's twice a week or more!) and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
We were on the all inclusive package, though we only bothered with lunch twice in the week as we were usually out exploring during the allotted time slot, though we did grab a snack from the pool bar on return. I would describe the hot food as quite basic but it catered to everyone's tastes. There was *always* lots of fresh salad and bread available so even if the hot food wasn't to your liking, you had an alternative (same for veggie options - they were thin on the ground but my partner managed fine). The chef was very friendly and I noticed he was excellent with the children, always giving them time and handing their food to them personally. To be honest, the kind of people who are writing these bad reviews were the kind of people we were avoiding throughout the week. You only need to look at the spelling and grammar on this site alone to see the class of people you are dealing with... One couple would have breakfast, set up near the pool and then not move from poolside for 7 days except to feed their faces. On the subject of the pool, although we didn't use it (there's a beautiful beach 10 mins walk away) it always looked clean and well maintained, we witnessed staff cleaning each morning prior to opening it again and judging by the excited kids running about, they thought it was pretty good too!
I would recommend upgrading to get an air-conditioned room (we were only charged 35 Euros for this service) as the weather is very hot and you do notice the relief. It also comes in useful during the warmer nights.
I would definitely stay in this hotel again, I might consider half-board just where we didn't make full use of all inclusive - but then again it was handy not to worry about buying drinks and snacks. The only thing I'd do differently is hire a car to be able to see more of the island. The hotel have a list of reputable suppliers so if you follow the advice of the friendly staff you should be ok.
Please don't listen too much to these bad reviews as your holiday is what you make it, and the staff at the Telemachos helped make our holiday wonderful!
