We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children ages 9 and nearly 2. We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Telemachos we stayed B&B, the hotel is nothing like the nasty reviews describe it!! All the staff were nice to myself and family and if Dassia wasnt so quiet I would definatley return but it is 2 quiet for us. We like very lively holidays. The only downside to the hotel is the rooms are very basic you dont get anything like a kettle or fridge the basic needs really but wasnt a major problem. The rooms are clean and the maids come in daily.
We went to Aqua-land dont really recommend this I found it a waste of money there are far better water parks out there, but everyone is different. If you do go to aqua-land dont book it with the rep it costs you so much more. We also did an excursion to Glyfada beach which was stunning well worth the visit. The Kalypso Star glass bottom boat from the town centre is well worth a trip on very good value for money.
I really would not let the reviews put you off this hotel as we nearly did!! When we read the reviews we wanted to cancel our holiday so glad that we never now.

Good and Bad

My boyfriend and I (both 25) found the Telemachos Hotel to have good and bad points.
First, don't be shocked to pay 90 euro for 2 weeks with air-conditioning. We stayed in the old part of the hotel and found it to be basic, but clean. Our room was quiet which we liked, as the new part of the hotel over looked the pool which was open to 2am or so and noisey.
The staff are nice, and helpful (most of them). The pool bar is an expensive place to eat or just get a drink, so I would recommend venturing down town. The food was nice, but a little repetative i.e chicken, pork or beef alternating each night, although it did cater for all tastes and nationalities. I would have liked more of a range of salad, with olives and feta cheese as options as we were in Greece afterall.
The pool is cloudy, my partner got sick from the water as we felt it wasn't very sanitary.
If you swim in it, don't dive in or swallow any water!
Dassia is a very very quiet resort. We normally seek out relatively quiet places to visit, as we like to relax, but we did find Dassia too quiet. It really only had a handful of bars or restaurants (TRY ALEXANDROS, AMAZING!).
We found Olympic Holidays to be good value for money, but ended our holiday sharing our return flight with East Midlands who had to spend an extra 2 HOURS on the plane while we disembarked in Belfast. SO BEWARE!!!
Recommend:
Go down to the beach
Visit Corfu town
Leave the Telemachos as much as possible.
Definately visit Aqua-Land, well worth the 27euros
Alexandros Taverna
Would I visit the Telemachos Hotel again: No, good value, but Dassia was too quiet
If anyone would like anymore information on Dassia or Telemachos Hotel email: nemofin@hotmail.com

  • Advice: Too quiet, lovely beach and nice locals
  • Activities: Aqua-Land and Alexandros Hotes

we have just returned from our fourth stay at the tilemachos hotel we feel that the comments slagging the hotel off are unjustified and some are downright lies this hotel is clean and tidy the cleaners work long hours from the morning until late at night the sheets and towels are changed regulary the staff are polite and are ready for a laugh its the same in any country if youre rude to someone then they ll be rude back why should they take abuse just because you are on holiday the food is tasty and plentifull and dereck the chef prides himself on itnot much more to say really except if you want 5 star then pay for 5 star do not be put off by negative comments from people who have not had their demands met spirios the barman mixes a mean cocktail and the parosel bar down the road is a nice and relaxing bar enjoy your holiday

Good Value for 2.5 star hotel

If like us you have just booked at telemachos and then read bad reviews dont panic. Remember it is a 2.5 star hotel. You can't pay skoda prices and expect a BMW. We stayed 1 week and the sheets/towels were changed in he middle of the week. Me and my wife were in one room and my girls, 15 & 10, were in the room next door. We felt safe and comfortable the whole time. The rooms and pool areas were cleaned everyday. Need to get up early to bag good sunbeds with your towels. The hill that some moan about is truely only 300 yds. We found the food good enough for 2 star. Chef very helpful and you could eat as much as you like. Soup, fresh salad and several choices for main. Staff were all helpful and work very hard. We did full inclusive which we think is best value. Entertainment isn't brilliant. Beach only 15 min walk but its not a brilliant beach, very stoney, take beach shoes. You can hire sun beds all along the beach. We hired at 'Malibu beach club' which has a beautiful pool to use. They charge 5 euros for the beds and pool use but i haggled and got 4 of us for 15. We did a boat trip 'the beach trip' on wednesdays. This was excellent. 10.30-18.00. Go to small secluded beach for 1.5hrs with a really nice BBQ and drinks, then onto Kasiopi for an hour for shopping/bars (not many shops). Then stopped on the way back for diving off the boat in a crystal clear bay and swimming in caves. We went to aqualand for a day out which the kids loved.
Would go back to Corfu, wouldn't necessarily rush back to Telemachos i would pay a bit more for more starts. But your holiday is what you make it. The bad reviews are just Moaning tight Brits!!!

  • Advice: Dassia was ok. If your looking for sandy beaches its not here.
  • Activities: Boat trip 'Beach trip' was excellent. Aqualand great for families.

I have just returned form a holiday at the Telemachos hotel in Dassia. Myself, my husband, my 16 year old daughter and her friend all had a fantastic time. The rep was very pleasant, friendly and did her job very efficiently. The staff at the hotel were very polite and friendly and the service we had was excellent. We loved sitting by and going in the pool and there were always enough sunbeds or chairs. All the facilities were good and the rooms were adequate for what we had paid.
Although not a lot of variety ( I have been to Corfu before and didn't expect much variety) the food was very good at both breakfast and evening meal and although sometimes there was a bit of a queue it was served well. The lunchtime snacks that we had at the pool bar several times were of an excellent quality and reasonably priced.
The nearby beach, shops and restaurants ( where we had lunch sometimes )were all very good and the village of Dassia had a nice atmosphere.
We wished we were able to stay another week and although don't usually visit the same place twice I would certainly go back to this hotel if I were going to Dassia again.

Me and my sister and 2 kids booked this holiday for 2 weeks just for a break from work and everyday life,we went all inc and was really looking forward 2 it.. we arrived at the hotel about 6.30 in the morning and just wanted to get to our room so we and the kids could go to sleep so we checked in at reception which was fine didnt take to long then we was shown where to go so we went to our room open the door and the smell of the room was terrible with 2 single beds and 2 camp beds 1 wardrobe between 4 of us and a very small shower it was disgusting so we went back to reception and told the man there we wasnt staying in it because we booked to stay 3* in all inc with the travel operator befour we got there and there was noway i was staying in this room, he told us we could upgrade to the new building if we paid an extra 90 euros so in the end we didnt really have a chioce and paid it, we went to our new room in the new block and it was nice pool view and 4 single beds with fair size bathroom but no shower or shower curtain so we all had to have baths everynite.. anyway enuf of the room lets talk about everything else, the food was ok not really much of a chioce same thing more or less everynite nufin really other than chips for the kids but not to bad the chef was a really nice man tho.. the all inc bar was ok for food when they had it because they was always running out of stuff and for drinks was fine untill it got to 8.30 when it was a rule that only 1 drink per person was served then at 9.30 it closes altogether so you had to go to the other bar and pay for it for the rest of the nite, sunlounger was a joke you had to be up at stupid o"clock to get one if the germans had left any foryou which they never really did cause they fort they owned the place and if you did get one it was normally broke anyway so we spent most of our time sat on chairs, there was nufin to do for the kids day/nite apart from a broken seesaw and a round about and a rusty slide near the pool area.. the entertainment at nite was very poor and boring so much really to say about that, i think the cleaners had some sort of allergy to dirt because the only thing they done in our room was empty a bin dont think the floor was moped the whole 2 weeks we was there, not much more to say apart from it was the worst holiday i have eva had in my life and will neva go back there if they gave me a room for free with spendin money.. very very poor hotel and need to get new staff who dont spend most there time hiding in the back on there phone whilst there is people queing outside to be served.. the ONLY good thing about the holiday was the nice people we met when we was there other than that couldnt wait to get home..

Our week at Telemachos

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Telemachos Hotel in Dassia. It is possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in but we did not feel that we could complain too much because we were after a quick cheap deal and we booked it late Thursday night and went the next day Friday we had not even looked at a brochure. We possibly paid about half the going price for B&B, Thankfuly we did not have All Inclusive, some people did and I must say I did not envy them at all.
When we arrived we were asked if we wanted Air Conditioning for an extra 50 Euros per week (£45) we declined but took the fan option which was worth the extra 18 Euro per week but was an extra that we had'nt really budgeted for.
The worst thing abouth the room was the bathroom in which you could not even swing a mouse let alone a cat! The door opened to within a hairs breath of the toilet pan, and our bathroom door latch was broken so the door kept swinging into the room which meant that while you were sitting on the loo you had to keep your foot on the back of door at the same time. The shower curtain was fixed in the middle of the room, and was also about 8" short, the shower consisted of a very very old rubber tube with plastic shower head, after you had fought your way out of the shower curtain you were still trapped by the bathroom door, and because the shower curtain was too short the floor flooded, and you had to paddle out of the room. It was no use putting down the bathmat that was provided. There was limited space at the sink to wash and the plug in ours did not fit so the water kept running out. I have to say that we complained and they did fix the bathroom door latch, but not the sink plug! One good thing was that there was always hot water.
The bedroom was not very spacious but was adequate, the furniture in the room was very poor although the bed was comfortable. The draw handles were bolted through and stuck out about 2" into the draw, so you had to be careful not to tear your clothes and catch your fingers. The wardrobe looked hand made and there were no handles on it only a hole with no lock and a key which didnt fit to open it with! The door and window frames were very shoddy and had not been painted or maintained for a very very long time. The balcony looked over a wooded area, but the grounds of the hotel were unkempt with rubbish lying about. Initially we got one smallish bath towel, but later in the day they knocked and left another two hand towels, these were changed once in the week. The maids did their best to keep basic cleanliness, emptying the bins and moping the floor, the sheets were changed once during the week, but unfortunately they were a bit small for the bed.
The hotel reception and communial areas and seating are shoddy, with tacky dirty silk flower arrangements and plant pots with plastic ducks in, yuck! not the sort of place you want to hang around in.
The garden areas and pool terrace was scruffy. The pool looked murky and un-inviting, and whilst I like swimming very much I did not so much as dip my toe in it! There appeared to be sunbeds, and tables and chairs in the pool area, but no parasols and the only shade being some Olive trees and it was 39 degrees one day and at least 34 all the rest of the time. I dont know how the people that stayed at the pool managed!! I certainly would have hated to be tied to it on an all inclusive basis, we spent as little time at the hotel as possible, just returning to sleep and eat breakfast. We did not use the bars or the pool or any of the other facilities.
Breakfast was ok, there was cereals, yoghurt , fruit cheese and ham, bacon hard fried eggs, cocktail sausages and runny beans. There was bread to toast, and fresh bread. There were juices, but Tea & Coffee was metered out by the staff.
Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, but others were rude and unhelpful particularly the "Frauline" of the reception desk. Many other guests were moaning and complaining about the Hotel and the staff, and we heard reports of rats around the pool, and canabis being smoked by the staff but we are unable to verify this as we were never there!
We paid for a safety deposit box from the following day after we arrived for 1 week, but they made us give up the key at the same time as our room key,(after renting it for only 6 days). This was unhelpful because it meant that as we had a night flight we had to have all our valubles and passports with us all day on the beach.
We were happy to go to the beach in Dassia every day, and we were not tied to this hotel by all inclusive, we ate out at lovelly restaurants every night and just came home to sleep, we did'nt pay much, and we had a great holiday.
However, Beware!! if you like to stay around your pool or you are thinking of going All inclusive dont go to this hotel!!!

We have just returned from a weeks All Inc at this hotel. Although All Inc is not what we got.
School dinners were served to you rather than buffet style that was advertised. Be warned if you dont eat it for dinner you may get it for breakfast, as we were offered the same style omelette for breakfast and evening meals twice in one week, and spagetti (with no sauce) served for lunch turned into spagetti lasagne for dinner???
When my husband asked for 2 small pieces of chicken he was told he could have one and would have to get in the dinner queue again for the next piece. Madness.
Veggie options are limited - I didnt starve but there was not always a main option so I lived off chips, bread and salad.
We had no option but to eat out sometimes which cost us money we had not budgeted for.
However this meant we did find bars in town where the cocktails were cheaper than a normal drink that we were paying for in the non all inc bar. Which brings us onto the bar. Closes at 9.30 (fair enough we were warned about that), but at 9pm the drink police arrive, to stop you getting more than one drink at a time. So if you are going in a party, be warned you will all have to go to the bar and get your own, as you are not allowed to get a drink for your partner or family member. I did get a drink and QUEUED up again with it in my hand but still was not allowed a drink for my husband as I was still holding one. I therefore walked back to the table, put the drink down and then QUEUED up again, and got him one.
Thank god the for the weather which was perfect otherwise the penny pinching of this hotel would have really sent us over the edge. We spent €200 on food and drink which you do not expect on an All inc. By the way the paying bar at the hotel is open until 1am. All Inc bar is a window(broken, which is a lot like a tuck shop. Paying bar is a pretty cool bar by the pool. Suggest you contact your rep and try to change your hotel.

We are a young couple and we booked this holiday last minute for a decent price and I can honestly say that the only thing which annoyed me was the moaning English idiots who are too tight to pay for a 5 star hotel and expect the same standard from a 2.5 star!!
We phoned in advance to make sure we would get an air conditioned room as we were not sure if there would be any available when we arrived. The manager seemed to really appreciate this and gave us the best room available. It cost 50 Euro extra for the week. It was bright and spacious, spotlessly clean with a double bed (not 2 singles pushed together) and the most fabulous sea view. The cleaners came in every day to empty bins and mop floors and the sheets were changed once a week which we found perfectly acceptable.
All the staff we encountered were very friendly and polite, they work very hard and are always helpful.
The chef is great he is very friendly and funny but professional. His food was fantastic, very tasty and there was good variety.
The AI bar was just what we expected, local spirits such as ouzo, vodka etc. as well as beer, red and white wine and a variety of soft drinks. The bar closes at 9.30pm. We thought this was a little early as the entertainment only starts around this time but we can't really complain because we were made aware of this before we went. The bar operates a 1 drink per person rule after about 8pm. Some of the English guests found it acceptable to swear and shout at the bar staff when they were only given 1 drink each but I really did not see what the problem was, you only have 1 mouth for crying out loud!
Dassia itself is a small town it has a few bars and tavernas and some supermarkets and souvenir shops. The hotel is positioned about 5 mins walk up a hill just off the main road and the beach is about 10mins walk away. Dassia beach is a shingle beach with warm, clear water. There are lots of water sports facilities on the beach and we tried out paragliding which I would recommend but do ask around for different prices as we were quoted between 45 and 70 Euro for tandem paragliding. Corfu Ski club seemed to have the best prices, gave discount if you were staying in this hotel and is at the end of the beach furthest away from the hotel.
This hotel is not suitable for people with walking difficulties or lazy people due to its position at the top of a hill, however the hill is not as bad as some people would have you believe and is only steep in 1 place at the very top but on the plus side being at the top of a hill means you get a bit of a breeze which is very welcome in 40 degree heat and as I have already mentioned you may be lucky enough to get a room with a view.
All in all we had a fantastic holiday in telemachos hotel, we would definitely go back and would recommend it to our friends.
Don't be put off by the bad reviews as these are people who go on holiday just to complain and will find fault with everything.

HEY.... This was a really cheap all inclusive holiday, and yes we read the reviews after booking and nearly cancelled. So very glad we didn't. What a giggle!!! Best holiday in years, friendly staff, the chef was a hoot!!! they did a fantastic job with the pitance we all paid to stay there. We made great holiday friends, most people had that very British quality of making the best of a situation by entering into the spirit of the occasion. Our room was very clean and comfortable, spacious, cool and had all new fittings. We swam in the pool, lounged about, ate and drank till we were fit to burst. The entertainment was basic but enjoyable. The food was plentiful and substantial. The chef didn't hide away in the kitchen but came out to make sure everyone was alright and encouraged discussion about the menue. Yes.. I have to agree about the sunloungers being in desperate need of replacement but maybe that should be down to the Olympic to insist on a review of them for safety reasons as they were very shabby. SO.... buy a lilo for a few euros and put a towel on it instead.... job sorted eh? The all inclusive bar was basic but I managed to drink ouzo and lemonade under the Greek sun whilst reading my book in the company of new friends. Both me and my husband had a fantastic time. Please remember this is not advertised as a five star hotel so why expect it to be one!!! We will go again.

We have just spent a week at the Telemachos Hotel in Dassia and unfortunately that's a week of our lives we will never get back!! It was not good. The room was not clean and although our towels were changed regularly most of them were stained, as were the pillow cases. The all inclusive was a waste of money and just not worth it. You had to wait ages to be served, since there was only one guy serving most of the time and he kept disappearing. When you did manage to get served chances were he had "run out" of whatever it was you were ordering - one day no ice creams, the next no coffee! We didn't pay a huge amount for the holiday and so weren't expecting the Ritz but this place was beyond a joke really. We went away expecting to have a nice relaxing week in the sun and came back frustrated, disappointed and feeling like we needed another holiday. We had to wait outside by the pool until 3.30 a.m. for our coach back to the airport because they wouldn't let us sit in the lounge inside the hotel - which was not only a pain for us but was presumably a nuisance to the guests still there with rooms overlooking the pool since there was obviously a certain amount of noise being made by us guests waiting to leave. Not good service and we certainly won't be going back.

26th June to the 4th July a week in the worst hotel i have ever spent. All staff indifferent to the point of rudeness. The all inclusive bar consisted of three hot snacks and ice cream which they regularly run out off. Staff where dressed scruffily to match their attitudes, the most basic of bland tasteless food. On the day of departure from 21.30 to 03.30 no facilities for drinks and food provided, and even locked the main lounge leaving two coach loads of people in limbo. The bedrooms had air con if you paid an extra 40 euros rising to 100 euros.Had to plead for clean towels, because everything was prepaid it was as if the staff and management didnt want to work or make your holiday enjoyable. This is definetly not cheap and cheerful. DONT GO
