hell

just got back from this hell hole of a hotel,as others have said the staff are very rude, there was two lads on the all inclusive that where only alowed to get one drink at a time, other family members had to get there own, they got into a argument over there all inclusive rights and on two seperate occasions the bar man took his shirt off and threatend to kill them, the day after we got back home we also heared the same barman had pushed a women over again over her all inclusive rights, they think there giving food and drinks away for free.the room was dirty and i didnt have a pillow until the eight day when next door left, the sink had no plug and was cracked and also loose, the toilet was faulty and was running water 24/7,couldnt even turn the stop cock off over night because that was siezed, the shower was minging, when the towels where changed they where more dirty than the the ones they replaced, the patio door would not lock which was a major concern because theres lots of stealing going on,people lost cameras/camcorders and money yet no sighn of forced entry, when they repoted it the manager said the maid must left the door open, more like the maid is a thief if you ask me,we where lucky and only had a few small items go missing,oh the wifes perfume also ran out very quick.the food was not fit for a dog,the bacon was reformed ham shaped like bacon and warmed up,the fried eggs where like rubber, the beans where watery, and intead of sausage you got chopped up hot dogs and on one occasion the hotdogs where off so i never ate the food again, also the margerine smelt and tasted like stilton, the orange juice is a powder form and we spotted them mixing it and filled the jugs up with tap water, the first week the coffe was nice but on the second week it was awefull, the place is known as faulty towers by the locals,on the last day i was grinning like a cheshire cat as we got on the coach to leave, this is the worse holiday of my life and the place should be shut down.

Relieved to be Home

Where to start. . . when we arrived everything seemed perfectly fine. When we checked in we were told that air conditioning was an extra 50 euros, not helpful to those on a tight budget. We decided against it but found unbearable, when we enquired about air con the next morning they told us it was impossible to do so as the system in our room had been broken for over a month, and we opted to hire a fan at 18 euros for the week. Unfortunatly the fan left us just as hot and sticky as if we hadnt bothered.
We were on a B&B basis and we had been warned that greek breakfast was very plain and simple however i did not expect slices of tesco value ham and tinned hotdogs instead of real sausages. Jugs of water were available but after a few upset tummys, realised it was infact tap water (mineral content is different to that of UK)
The maid service quite frankly was DREADFUL, during our week stay our bed sheets and towels were not changed once! As for the rest of the staff, they either couldnt be bothered or "it wasn't their problem".
We were sort of pleased with our dinky room until the last day when we saw a friends room who were all inclusive, the toilet facilities were spotless with double sinks and the room was twice the size with far more modern and clean furniture/paintwork etc. and they had only payed £100 more than us. I felt rather cheated as i was still a paying customer and yet our toilet facilities were turning green and our room was quite frankly tiny.
Dassia was quiet but inexpensive, however i wish we had stayed elsewhere. I can honestly say i and my boyfriend were glad to be away from the hotel and are very relieved to be home! We can safely say we will NOT be returning to the Telemachos.

What a joke!!

Me and my partner went to this hotel 2weeks ago to celebrate our anniversary, when we arrived we were asked if we wanted to pay 50 euro to upgrade to a room with air con in to the block which had been refurbished, we decided not to and were told by the manager "you will be back in 5minutes" after seeing the room they intended to put us in we decided to upgrade, the room had bugs squashed into the curtains the shower was mouldy and the sink was smashed, also the balcony door would not lock. After paying the money we were moved to the new block which was lovely with a bath and two sinks in the bathroom. The bed linen and towels did not get changed whilst we were there. Pool was cleaned every night which is a plus. The all inclusive buffet consisted of salad which you could pick how much you wanted but the main food chips, meatballs the chef dished out. You were not allowed to go up for seconds, the snacks menu at the bar consisted of pizza slice, toasties and sandwiches in the brochure it states the snacks are served from 10am until 8pm this is untrue the pizza slices finished at 5pm and on somedays 4pm, also in the brochure it states hot dogs are available along with ice cream etc, hot dogs were not available and ice cream and biscuits were for children only. There is not a separate bar for all inclusive guests as it also states. The rules for all inclusive changed everyday for different people, the staff were very unfriendly and rude. I know this hotel is only 2.5* but there and people say you get what you pay for but a smile and a friendly atmosphere between the staff does not cost anything. There was a steep hill to the hotel which some would be difficult for people with walking difficulties. I would go back to Dassia again but would not go tot his hotel it was literally a joke and ruined our holiday.

  • Advice: Dassia was quiet but lovely would be good for familys with children and couples.

you get what you pay for with this hotel. the room was basic but clean to a good standard with linen and towels changed regularly. all staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. In our experience the only time staff were off hand was after persistent moaners seemed to forget how cheap this hotel really was and who expected 5 star facilities after paying pennies!
the food was perfectly adequate although the menu was repetitive, but hey, you get what you pay for. great place for a laid back holiday.

This post is a little late! We went as a group of 14 adults 4 children and 3 babies. We found the hotel basic but clean! The cleaning staff were very hard working and great with the children! The management not good at all he was very rude and dis missive! The receptionist was ok but not very good at listening to you, The chef EXCELLENT! Yeah the food was basic but in hot countries do you really want to feel stuffed? Petre and Romulinka from check were very helpful and great friends we still speak now! Do not tip at the inclusive bar only eric gets it he is quite rude! Mamma takkas at the bottom of the hill is AWSOME very friendly and welcoming food is great too loved it there! We enjoyed our 2 weeks there! If you want 5 star treatment pay for it if not go with an open mind and you will be surprised only downfall was a pebble beach

Pros and cons
5 / 10
Jul 2010, Gizmopip

My daughter and i have hust returned from a weeks last minute holiday at this hotel, staying on a bed and breakfast basis. Basically, given that the whole package cost much less than the flights alone, we couldn't really complain too much. Having travelled extensively throughout Greece, we were pleased with the standard of our accommodation in the new block, having paid 50 euros to have an air conditioned room (standard fee if not included in the price) - much better than we had anticipated and layout similar to Travel lodge type rooms. So can't comment on those without air con. Breakfast wasn't brilliant, but then it was typical of everywhere else we have ever stayed. Must admit, the organisation left something to be desired - coffee and tea wasn't refilled regularly, and cups not replaced quickly enough. The first few days were lovely by the pool, until a large influx of British guests arrived. Then things became rather noisy and overcrowded - shortage of sunbeds and squashing together vying for space. The downstairs toilet/shower facilities left alot to be desired in terms of cleanliness - especially when these had to be used by guests checking out at 12 noon and not departing until 3am. Requests to have them cleaned met with very unhelpful response i.e. once checked out, the hotel has no responsibility towards you! It is possible to book a room to change in etc, but at a cost of 40 euros. We declined and made do. If we had booked the all inclusive option, especially at full rate, I would have been less than happy with the fact that this option ceased at 9.30pm, when drinks then had to be paid for. Probably explains why no fridges were available in rooms - no place to stockpile drinks to quaff in the evening!
Have to agree that the management could benefit from training in customer service skills. The male manager can only be described as 'dour'. The general staff were helpful and never seemed to be off duty.
Not recommended for those with mobility problems due to the steep hill. On the plus side, most folks will be fitter when they go home than when they arrived!
Dassia itself is not the thriving villiage it was 10 years ago. It's quite sad to see the empty shops and restaurants which have fallen by the wayside, and those who remain vying for diminishing custom due to the closure of several hotels. Gouvia is only a short bus ride away, and offers a totally different experience. Tickets available at the kiosk, down the hill and turn right.
In summary, nice hotel, shame about the management. We won't be returning ......ever!

Just had a very good week at Telemachos. Yes there is a hill but only the last 10yds are steep and there are plenty the same on english country lanes !!! The staff were hard working and pleasent, reception was efficient, and unusually for Greece in the summer months, there was hot water in the shower every day, and no power failures ! The rooms are o/k for the price, and the upgrade to the new block worth while if you need air-con. Its the people that stay that make the atmosphere, and there were a good bunch there(even Debbie).Entertainment is Karaoke (someone even liked my singing), and Gilbert is a bit of an institution (or is that from an institution?)and does a real old British Pub music Quiz.If you expecxt 5* then go elsewhere and pay the price but Telemachos is what it says, it is 2*+ and I think good value for the cost of holidaying there.I would go back and would recomend it for a very reasonable break, just don't expect a Rolls Royce if you only pay for a Scoda !!!!!!!

Will Never Stay There Again

Well firstly Dassia is a lovely place but is very quiet, not many clubs or things to do. Me and my Partner just got back from staying at the Telemachos last Saturday and it wasn't very nice. When we arrived we were asked did we want to pay 40 Euros to upgrade to a 4* room which we agreed to because some other reviews said the 2.5* star rooms were horrible and smelt of sewers. Considering we were upgraded to a supposedly 4* room all we got was Air Con, there was no TV etc even though it states in the brochure that there is. Anyway the room was basic but clean and was cleaned every day. That is the only goodish thing about the Hotel. The food was horrible, we lived off rice and chips everyday and ate out for tea nearly every night. I'm not a fussy eater at all but we could not bear to eat the "meat pie" (which was made from the nights before Chilli), "Lasagne", "pasta" etc it was all horrible, I've never come accross anything like it. We knew it was a 2.5* but never in a million years did we expect to get fed slop. I would never take your children here.
Also the pool was dirty, you could see all the mould on the tiles at the bottom and the Wasps were a pain, there were wasps nest all around the pool, you spent all day on the sun lounger trying to vend them off.
Please don;t go here. Like I said we knew it was a 2.5* Hotel but never did we expect it to be so bad. We went to Greece a few years back and stayed in a 3* Hotel and the food was brilliant, the rooms were lovely and we got a TV so I just can't understand how "half a star" can make such a difference.
We found a great English Bar about 15 minutes walk from the hotel called Great Shakes and it saved us from eating horrible teas all week, the food was delicious and it was all homemade, best food I've ever had probably so if you do get stuck for places to eat please visit this bar.
Please don;t take your children here or if you are disabled because the hill to the Hotel was a killer.

So my family and i decided to take a well deserved break in the sun! We ended up staying bed and breakfast at the hotel of terror tilemachos! Basically the food was evil- one morning they replaced eggs with omelette- i specifically asked if it was suitable for vegetarians i was told it was but upon tucking in it contained some sort of pork, eating out away from the hotel was as bad-unhygienic and expensive, the rooms were dirty- i didn't expect much just basic hygiene! The drinks around the pool were outragouesly overpriced- if you are still planning on going to tilemachos after reading these reviews i would recommend taking plenty of spending money! The worst enduring aspect of our holiday was the fact that our room was directly overlooking the pool area ( with no view as trees were in the way) The evening entertainment ended as late as 2 am and it was so loud i could have cried most nights through lack of sleep, there was so many arguments around the pool between hotel guests that were just enjoying thier holiday and the most grumpiest and aggresive manager i have ever had the misfortune to meet! This brings me on to the next point- generally the greek people that we met were kind and welcoming- but the hotel staff at the tilemachos (especially the manager) were rude, unwelcoming and unhelpful- it felt as though we were a hinderence to them and that they were doing us a favour by letting us stay in thier grotty little hotel- however we had paid a fortune for the privelage to say at the tilemachos. I could go on forever! oh before i go the hill leading up to the tilemachos is very very very steep- i would class my self as fit and it took my breath away-my farther who is diasabled could not walk up the hill-he had to get a taxi every time we wanted to get away fom the hotel( not ideal and expensive!) The only two good things about the holiday were the beautiful sunshine and the fact that our family were together! Dont go to tilemachos! it should be shut down.
