Alexandros Beach Hotel was a joy to stay in. Our room was basic but clean and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Fans and safety deposit boxes were available from the hotel at very reasonable prices. This is a family run hotel and ideal for couples or families with young children. My compliments to Alex and his wife Helena as well as the rest of the family for providing such a warm and friendly atmostphere to relax in. They were excellent hosts and always on hand to help in any way possible. The pool and bar area were very well maintained and spotlessly clean and offered a wide range of drinks and basic tasty snacks. For anyone looking for lively entertainment and late nights there are a vast range of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. We gravitated towards the nearby Telis bar most evenings and were always assured of a warm welcome and a great nights fun. The resort itself has something for everyone and retains a lovely traditional greek feel. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Hihgly reccommended all round and definitely a place I would hope to return to.

Rooms basic but clean, cleaned every day, with clean towels three times in one week. Alex was really helpful and chatty. Pool was cleaned every day. Lovely family run accommodation would definitely recommend it. The cleaners were friendly even though they did not speak a word of English! Short walk to the beach. Best restaurants were Takis, looks grim from the front but the food is lovely and cheaper than some of the other restaurants, Ananais was okay but very "commercialised" with the tacky "Greek night" - ok if you like that sort of thing. Balcony was good but we found the owner (I think) to be overfriendly and "touchy". Beaches were out of this world and so was the very calm sea, until the storms! We didnt get off to a good start due to the Olympic Rep at the airport not keeping the CUSTOMERS informed as to what was happening, we ended up sitting on a coach breathing in diesel fumes for over an hour with no information whatsoever from her and I also found her to be quite rude. Jo the rep at the accommodation was extremely helpful. Definitely recommend it and I will definitely be going back there provided they have air conditioning next year!

Have just returned from a chill out holiday at the Alexander Beach Apartments in St georges South, The Rooms were basic but very clean, staff could not do enough to make our stay with them as pleasant as possible. The family run owner Alex was lovely such a genuine freindly guy very approachable iff you had any problems at all just go to him and he would do is best to help wether it being to do with your rooms or wether you needed something from the pharmacy which was a bit of a hike away he would do a pharmacy run for you, there is such nice places to eat, we mostly went to the Balcony, which was reasonably priced and excellant food. The food at the pool bar was lovely as well Alex does a mean hotdog, We are definatley going back next year but for two weeks this time. Also our rep Jo was lovely and around alot iff we needed her

Accommodation basic but clean.
Breakfast (cheese & ham with very pale toast) was pretty poor.
Alex and his wife Helena (and his dad) were very helpful and friendly and also Alex's sister and her family were on hand to help while we were there as Helena's baby was due.
The pool at the hotel was lovely, and very clean.
The resort was quiet but had everything needed for a relaxing holiday, beautiful clean beaches very close to the hotel and a variety of shops and tavernas. I even managed to buy a lovely birthday cake for my son's birthday from Zack's taverna!
The only thing that spoiled it was the 17 hour delay on the way home with no information, help or support from the Olympic Reps in Corfu!!

St George was a lovely resort providing lovely well maintained beaches, excellent restaurants, tavernas and small disco/clubs. Generally nightlife in st george is rather low key, although as the evening draws on it does generally tend to perk up. St george to me and my family seemed to have something to offer to all; lovely beaches with fantastic watersports facilities, supermarkets selling everything from beach gear to beautiful hand-crafted gifts. The restaurants were all lovely, we didn't have a bad meal the whole fourteen nights we were there, although amongst our favourites were the blue sea and the balcony restaurant with lovely sea-views. There were some great tavernas as well from x-l and the palladium both offering free goes on the pool tables, with fantastic music, and competitive prices.
The alexandros beach hotel was a lovely small accomadation, inwhich the apartments were very basic but kept exceptionally well cleaned by friendly maids who spoke little english! The appartments were adequete for the little time you spent in them! Fans and safety deposit boxes were available to hire at cheap prices. The pool wasn't all too small, and also kept remarkably clean, with comfortable sun loungers (free) around the pool also providing parasols. Alex and his wife Helen were very friendly, speaking excellent english and always willing to help. Various snacks were offered throughout the day for relatively cheap prices, as were the drinks (soft and alchaholic) there was also an english breakfast on the menu too! The pool bar was open early from eight in morning until around seven at night! I would definitley go back to this beautiful resort and hotel- there was so much to offer, with very friendly people!

We have just come back from a wonderful relaxing holiday in Corfu. The accomodation at the above hotel was basic but clean and comfortable. Although we were self catering we never intended to cook in our room as the prices to eat out were very reasonable and very affordable. There are lots of eating places in St. George South and the restaurant staff are all very friendly and helpful. It was very near to a wonderful sandy beach that was 5 mins away. The sea is very shallow, clear and safe. The proprietor and his wife were lovely people and very very helpful. There is a lovely swimming pool which was very clean and attended at all times by the proprietor. A pool bar was open all day long until 7 pm where you could aquire a wonderful English breakfast and snacks that were prepared fresh all day long . at very reasonable prices. I would definately return to this resort and in particular this hotel. We were there at the beginning of their season and it was very quiet which is what we like. If you need something a little more lively then you would choose a different resort that would give you this, but for us it was ideal. The Olympic rep, Joanne was lovely and was quite new to the area but was very helpful also. We had a very nice time and wished we had booked for 2 weeks. Mr. R. Moore and Mrs. W. Dale

Have just returned from the Alexander Beach Apartments in St George, and the apartments were basic but clean and beds comfortable. There is a small pool which is clean and well kept. The pool bar is ok but limited menu for snacks etc, but there are others nearby where the choices are better. We tried the Ananias which was very nice, they did a great cooked breakfast.
The people who run the Alexander beach are very kind caring and helpful, particularly to myself as I broke my ankle on the second day! We were told we could move to a downstairs apartment as soon as one became free, but were vetoed by the Olympic manager who insisted that the downstairs rooms were a different price and they just would not hear of it, so we were left to struggle with crutches up and down stairs several times a day.
However in the second week the proprietors offered us a downstairs room which had been closed up as there was a leaky ceiling in the bathroom. This seemed to be the lesser of the two evils so we gladly accepted. (Incidentally the room, 14, was haunted by a spirit of a baby, which was seen on the last night by my partner, and I myself had the freaky experience of being woken twice in the night by something touching me!)
We only got to the local beach once and it was ok but very windy, and the sea quite rough, but we since found other beaches which were nicer, with calmer sea, but of course there was no way I could do beaches at all with my leg plastered.
The resort of St George was perfect for us, being completely unspoilt by over development, just a few bars, plenty of tavernas, supermarkets etc. If you want noisy nightlife, go elsewhere! Tata's did great food as did the Ananais, which also did a great free Greek night.
Must also say how great Doctor Pandis, the local doctor was, kind caring and helpful, even lending us a wheelchair, without which the holiday would have been a complete disaster.
Overall I would recommend the resort and accomodation, may even go back there one day, but not to Room 14!

Alexadros Beach Hotel/Studios was described to me as a 'family run business' and likened to 'Faulty Towers'. What we actually got was a hotel 'run' by an English family of foul mouthed, topless sunbathers.
There was never anyone on reception, the rooms were not cleaned frequently enough and during our second week the towels were not changed at all! The sheets on our beds were changed once in two weeks! The owner sat around the pool screaming, shouting and swearing at her daughters who dominated the pool and made us feel quite uncomfortable. If you wanted any service of any kind you had to 'disturb' one of the sunbathers!
The room was described as a self catering studio. It was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. The 'kitchen area' was actually a sink stuck behind the door with a kettle, a tiny electric hob that didn’t even look clean and crockery and cutlery that all looked as if it had seen better days! The room was like a sauna! The upstairs floor of the hotel had no windows or air ventilation of any kind and was thus unbearable.
There was no option of air con. We were told we could hire a fan and attempted to reserve one three times. Every time we went to collect it they told us they didn’t have any - Clearly their system of scribbling a note on a scrap of paper wasn’t effective - hardly surprising.
However, the 'Blue Diamond Hotel', which is only a five minute walk away, was very nice and you could use their pool and sun loungers for free. This actually was a nice family run business and the whole set up was much nicer and more picturesque.
I would only recommend St.George for families as it is very quiet and there is not enough entertainment in the evening. I had been told by several people that St.George is the nicest part of Corfu. Having visited Rhoda a few years ago, I would totally disagree with this statement! The locals are not particularly welcoming...and they wonder why the number of tourists is diminishing each year!!!
We had an extremely unpleasant experience at a restaurant called 'Il mare pizzeria' and I would strongly advise you not to go there! (If you are standing outside blue diamond hotel it is across the road, to your left). Here, the owners threatened to call the police because we refused to pay for a meal that was stone cold, had been sent back twice and had in the end been sent back untouched!
They made us wait there for three hours and were shockingly rude to us! As it turned out they had never called the police but were trying to frighten us into paying! Eventually when they realised we weren’t going to give in, they agreed to take the meal of the bill but suddenly the original bill had gone up and was now written in Greek so that we couldn’t see what was on it. Eventually our rep came down to sort it out but we had to wait outside for him.
However, the owners didn’t want us to wait outside and four members of staff (3 men) came hurling towards us, shouting in our faces and threatening us! When our rep turned up, the staff tried to find out where we were staying. This made me feel very unsettled for the whole holiday so be warned - don’t go there!!!
We also had an interesting meal at 'Blue sea'. Here we ordered a cheese burger for 5 euros which was frozen in the middle. The waitress very ungraciously took 2 euros off the bill even though the meal was, again, untouched. You will notice though, that everyone speaks perfect English until you need to complain and suddenly they don’t speak it quite so well!
The best restaurant is 'San Carlos' and is only a few euros more per meal than some of the cheaper ones so it worth going there. Plus it is set right on the beach so is very pretty. You can get a good breakfast for about 4 euros at 'Splendid grill room restaurant' and the guy there is quite friendly (if you go there a few times, he gives you free drinks!) If you do go to St.George, stay at the blue diamond and eat in 'san carlos'!

Excellent apartments- basic but very clean. Small pool -again very clean and well maintained. Only criticism of apartments are that they are on the main road and fairly noisy throughout the night (motor bikes etc), on the plus side it is only a couple of minutes to walk to the harbour (very pretty)
Paxos is an absolutely fabulous place to visit, beautiful greeny/blue water which is good for swimming etc. There isn't any night life so you probably shouldn't holiday here if that is a requirement. Most beaches are pebbles so it isn't for you if you require long stretches of white/golden sand.
We hired a car for a week which was quite expensive and in all honesty a car for a day or two would suffice. Anti paxos is a must for a day on the beach (one sandy and one pebbles) but it is very crowded (August). There on some fairly reasonable places to eat we particularly enjoyed Genesis (lamb cooked in stone oven was lovely).

This was our 2nd time staying here. We almost had the same room, just 2 doors along.
We love it, its a few mins walk from the heart of St.George.
The rooms are basic, but what else is needed, a bed, a fridge, kettle, some basic cuttlery, a shower and toilet. The place is kept spotlessly clean, by the maids, who love to talk...just a friendly Kalimera is all it takes.
If its 5* treatment you seek, then this is not the place for you, after all how much time to you want to spend in your room ? If it`s TV and room service you seek, stay at home.
St.George has seen some redevelopment in recent years, more hotels, footpaths, and extra street lighting, but because of its lack of development, like Kavos, is what keeps this place what it is.
Peaceful, relaxing, layed back, not much traffic, time to soak up the sun, eat, drink, swim, dance, watch, listen, and learn, what else do you want ?
Its perfect for couples, young familys, and older people too, theres no room for the louts, and yobs that do spoil some resorts, theres none of them here, on the many times we`ve been here, we've seen none.
Spiros the owner, and his son Alex, who also own Evergreens cafe, remembered us from previous, Mama ( Spiros wife ) was not there this time, due to family illness. Hence the reason for the pool bar closing early, and no bar food snacks, but " Akis " ( the pool/bar worker ) was always on hand to offer advise and a cool beer by the pool, and any other information about the resort we did not already know.
The main part of St.George, about 3 mins walk away has everything thats needed for a quiet relaxing holiday. There are many shops selling beach gear and gifts, and plenty of supermarkets should you want anything else.
The choice of restaurants is outstanding, a genuine warm and friendly welcome comes from the heart here, with choices ranging from Kebabs ( from Georges donor ) that are so tasty and cheep to The Village grill offering all sorts from kebabs, lamb chops, great steaks, pasta. Or stick with what you know and go for pizza eat in or take away, at the best Pizza shop in Corfu, to 1st class fish dishes from Cafe SAS, what ever your dining needs your`ll find it here. the best Breakfast`s in the world ( except for mine ) come from Mad Mikes, real bacon for a start, whatever you want is on the menu, great service, and hospitality. Just mention my name Martin ha ha ha........
If its night life you seek, there is a great choice of venues, from the run of the mill bar`s playing relaxing music while you dine, to a couple of nightclub style bars, not all playing club music you would expect from places like Kavos, but a mixed general 60`s to up2date.
Many places have traditional " Greek nights " but be advised, if its a great Greek night you seek, ask about " Golupos "
Most travel agents will offer you a deal, ask your rep for more details, one price, and you get travel there and back, all the entertainment you can think of, and a belly full of food and wine. Plate smashing, singing, dancing, music, and pictures, a real night to remeber. We`ve been 2x and going to again when we are there this year.
For other days out try the Water park, tons of fun for adults and children.
Well we have many happy memorys of our time in Corfu, and each time we return we just top up on life.
St.George offers everything for a quiet and relaxing holiday by the pool, or the very nice beaches, its is not a place of loud, and inconciderate people, just dont expect to be blown away, give it a couple of days, and fall back into the relaxed way`s of the people and place, time is time, but here its not a way of life its a guide.Relax........ Explore.......Enjoy......

Typical Olympic holidays red-eye flights aside this was a very relaxing holiday. The hotel was basic, some would say probably a little out of date decor wise, but kept immaculately clean and tidy. It's very pretty from the outside as well, with lovely plants, flowers and trees all kept well looked after and watered. It helped that the resort was very quiet when we went.....Golden sun went bust and really screwed up most of the hotels in the resort for bookings, leaving the local proprietors well out of pocket. Everyone was very friendly, the owner and his wife were very welcoming and accommodating some of our requests re. the baby.
Our room was nice, very quiet situated at the rear of the hotel. All rooms have got good balconies. It is situated further up the main drag out of St. Georges, a pleasant 10 minute stroll through to the other end. Loads of good tavernas and restaurants...we would particularly recommend the Blue Sea, superb food and very reasonably priced compared to some of the other Tavernas.
The pool at the hotel was clean, but it was a lottery as to when the bar closed, sometimes as early as 2.30pm, and there was no choice of poolside snacks either. This lead us down to other hotel pools, which in all honesty had much better facilities (Ananias Apartments particularly, Blue Sea again, Blue Diamond Apartments as well).
We liked the Alexandros beach, it was spot on for our requirements having a 6 month old baby and all, but next time we’ll try somewhere different....but that’s the point of going on holiday!!

i visited corfu for the first time and had a fabulous time. Alex and helena the hotel owners, could not have been more helpful. Although the resort is described as peaceful there were lots of trips to sign up to. The hotel is family run and they went out of their way to make your holiday memorable. Alex served snacks by the pool which were tasty and cheap. The facilities are exceptionaly clean and the pool area was very well kept. It is definately a family hotel and we made many friends whilst we stayed there often going out with them in the evening. I think that some of the comments made earlier on this website should be removed as they must have been when alex and helena didn't run the hotel.m There are no drunks serving or infact anywhere to be seen in St georges. We also stayed in room 14 for two weeks and it is most definately not haunted . What a load of rubbish. I have paid lots of money for many holidays around the world and I must say that although this was one of my most cheapest holidays, it was one of the best. I definately left my heart with helena and Alex in St Gearges. I plan to return next summer so that i can reclaim my heart and some more good times.
