I stayed at this hotel for a week from the 9th July - 16th July.
There were more bad points than good points to this hotel. When we arrived, the reception staff weren't welcoming at all. It was like we were expected to know where to go and what to do. The hotel room was nice. It is what you would normally expect for a twin room. Very clean, good size with a nice view of the pool.
We went down to dinner, to be told to stand at the side of the room as we didn't have the carboard sleeve for the room card which we needed as it said our room number. Surely the reception staff should have told us this as we checked in at dinner time? After we tried to explain that we were new and that we didn't know what to do, we were sent to a table. I wouldn't rate the rood in the restaurant at all. The majority of the food was fish, or didn't even have a label on it, so if your picky with the meats that you eat, you would struggle. The chips were cold all of the time and if you didn't get to dinner within the first hour, there would hardly be any hot food. Also, the waitress' are very loud with the clearing away of cutlery. I found that the woman on the doors was very rude. I know that the staff shouldn't have to speak fluent english, but I thought that it was rude of how they reacted when I told some of them that I didn't speak Spanish.
One of the mornings at breakfast, I seen some milkshake packets or something similar by the door that I seen people picking up and taking out of the restaurant. When I did the same, I got shouted at by the woman on the door, she got hold of my arm, spoke to me in Spanish to me and snatched the packets from me.
The best part of the hotel was the pool. Even though you have to go to the pool before 11am to get a sunbed, There was always somewhere to sit. the pool was a nice size and very child friendly, with a bar next to it. There were pool activities including dancing, aerobics etc. There were plently of places to sit in the sun as well as there being enough shade.
The hotel is in a really good location. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants close by. The food in these were very expensive though.
The rooms were cleaned everyday if you wanted them to be, and fresh towels every day if you want them. One of the maids in particular was very rude and refused to clean our room when another maid asked her to.
I found that the staff that worked on the reception at night were alot more friendly than the staff in the day. When we checked out from the hotel, I asked if I could check out. The man took the card from me and walked off. I then just assumed that I had succesfully signed out as there was no communication involved.
Overall, I think that the hotel would have been alot better if the staff were more friendly. I think you would appriciate this hotel if you are a family with young children, or can speak Spanish. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to a friend.

Brilliant Hotel!

Myself and my boyfriend have just came back from a weeks holiday staying at the salou princess from 1/09/09 to 08/09/09 and it was brilliant! The hotel is very clean, the staff were very helpful and spoke excellent english, the pool was gorgeous and there was never a rush to get sunbeds on a morning, there was always loads free, no matter what the time, so if we wanted a sleep in we could have a sleep in! There was a life guard on duty most of the time around the pool. If your looking for a hotel thats close to everything then you shold definately book this one! Its literally a 2 minute walk from loads of english bars, restraunts, clubs and shops and its only a 5 minute walk to the beach, it was ideal for us as we weren't keen on doing alot of walking! It was only a 20 minute transfer on the coach from the airport. We can't comment much on the hotel food as we only ate in there once, but it was quite nice on that occasion. The only negatives to mention would be the hotel entertainment which was mostly suited to older people, but theres that many bars nearby that didn't bother us! And also parts of the pool can become a little bit shaded because of the palm trees, but there are lots of spots that have the sun all day. Overall it was a brilliant holiday and hotel and we would highly reccommend it.

I have to say that I'm quite stunned after reading some of the past comments about this hotel. I'm just back home two days after spending a week in this Hotel and can't rate it high enough. To start off the Spanish staff were terrific and friendly and that covers the reception, dining area and the two bars. We went half board and the food was superb, whether it was breakfast or dinner in the evening (you could choose lunch over dinner any day - no hassle). The food was of the highest quality and plenty of it. The dining room was air conditioned, bright and again the staff were excellent. There was always a chef's special every night and different themes. As for the pool area there were plenty of sunbeds to be had, we had no hassle picking two up every day no matter what time. Yes there are people who are determined to be the first out every day (the pool opened at nine) and yes it annoyed me too, but you're going to get these people no matter what hotel or apartments you stay in!! Our hotel was filled predominantly by Spanish people on their holidays who were courteous and well mannered unlike the English people (very few) who were the ones scrambling for the last 200 sunbeds every morning!! It was pathetic to watch. Our room, overlooking the bar area, was lovely and compact with air conditioning as standard. At the end of the day what do people want? As long as the bed's comfortable the air-con works and the toilet and shower are clean you're only spending your time sleeping in the room!! Our rep for Thomson was Katie and she was lovely, well-mannered and up-to-date with what was going on in the area. As regards the area you couldn't get much better. The Hotel is situated about 500 yards from the main strip/esplanade of Salou, which is buzzing all day and night. However when you return to the Hotel you can't hear a single thing, great! A great variey of shops and bars and it was lovely to watch the Sun go down every evening. I have to admit that my opinion of Salou was based on past times (hooligans, anti-social behaviour etc) but I am so pleased to be proved wrong. A modern resort with plenty to do for both Adults and children and the local people very friendly. Enjoy the H10 Salou Proncess, I'll definitely be back!!

My husband and i went for a week to the salou princess hotel at the beginning of july and we had a lovely week . The hotel was lovely in every way it was very clean the staff were very courtious and helpful in every way. We thought the food both for breakfast and evening meal which we had was good and there were always plenty of choice. Salou itself was a nice place and we had lots of lovely walks and the hotel had always some entertainment at night. It may have been a little quiet for younger people but for family;s and older people it is perfect. The other thing we liked about it was it was so near the airport no long tranfers. The weather was a little cloudy when we wre there but it was still a great holiday.

My wife and I stayed at the Salou Princess, for the first time, the first week of September 08.I don,t know about other reviews, but we found it to be an excelent Hotel. The food was of a high standard, with a vairid menu, diferent main course each evening, Fish,Steak (freshly cooked as you like it)mixed grill, pies,in addition there was a very large selection of other main meals, plus a varid selection of sweets, all food was labeled with full discription. From the time we arrived to departure, we found the staff very helpfull, and polite.overall I would rate this holiday 9 out of 10,thats why we are returning again this September.

Myself and my fiancee flew out to Salou on the 30th of September 2008, and our hotel was H10 Princess Salou. There was nothing to do atall!! It wasn't even safe to go for a walk, Alot of the locals were trying to sell us drugs this happened about 6 times in the space of half an hour! We were also gettin followed off younger group of locals. The hotel was clean but the food was appauling you didn't even know what was on offer to eat, it was totally disguisting. The staff in the restaurant were very ignorant!! We stayed in the hotel room 1 night, when we woke up the next day we had bites everywhere! we contacted our thomas cook rep (we booked with first choice but flew with thomas cook and had a thomas cook rep) to see how to go about gettin a flight home, She was very very ignorant and not interested atall!! We had to get a bus from salou to Barcelona for an hour and a half then get a flights from Barcelona to Gatwick, Where we had to get a flight to Edinburgh, It cost £600 to get home this was nearly as much as we paid for the holiday! We are very disappointed and disguisted with this.

I have read negative comments regarding this hotel and it's staff, and all I can say is that there's no pleasing of some people. I, along with my wife, and 14yr old daughter would have no hesitation in staying in this hotel again. It was very clean, the staff were friendly and the food was excellent and varied. I don't understand how people can say that the staff were not friendly. We were greeted every morning and evening with a smile from the cleaning staff through to reception, restaurant and bar staff. As for the pool being covered in leaves. That's Nonsense. There may have been a few - and a mean a few - small pieces floating about, but what can you expect with palm trees overhead. I also read were the Thompson rep, Alex was rude and unhelpful. Well, I met Alex during an 'introduction morning' and found her to be pleasant and very helpful All in all, we had a lovely stay and will certainly be back. I would recommend it to anyone.

my family have travelled with thomson...

Aug 2008, Mr G J Oates

my family have travelled with thomson for five years(sometimes twice a year). never have we met a rep that was as ignorant, impolite and arrogant as Alex who is situated in the H10 salou princess. my 16year old son and his 16 year old friend got into a little bit of trouble after being served alcohol in the hotel by the hotel staff. they admitted they had done wrong and my wife and i told the hotel staff from then on the boys would stay with us and not enter the hotel without us, however my wife and i were treated like criminals (even though WE did nothing wrong),by alex and the hotel staff including an english head receptionist who was as arrogant and ignorant as alex and locked us out of our rooms 4 times in 2 days. there were witnesses to what happened but alex wasn't interested in listening to the people she is supposed to be representing and even stood in reception infront of other hotel guests making fun of my family with other reception staff not realising my wife was stood at the other end of the counter listening. never again will we stay in any H10 hotel and probably never again will my family travel with thomson and i strongly recommend you choose another hotel and another tour operator as thomson obviously DO NOT care about me you or anyone else. the food was absolutly rubbish and the pool was dirty with loose slabs around the edge. you have been warned!

I have just come back after a...

Aug 2008, Mr B Edwards

I have just come back after a fantastic week at the Salou Princess with my girlfriend and feel (like Miss Johnson below) that I have to redress some of the unnecessary negative comments about this hotel. In a word, fantastic. The staff were very welcoming and friendly in all parts of the complex. Arriving at reception the receptionist was very happy to greet us. The cleaners always greeted us with a cheerful 'Hola'. The restaurant staff were courteous and the bar staff in the pool area were good as well. The hotel is extremely clean in all areas. I recall one comment about the pool having leaves in it. Well... the pool is surrounded by palm trees so what would you expect... plus they were few and far between. They have a system where they will not open the pool area to the public until 9am for two reasons. One is to prepare it for us and the second is to stop people "reserving" sun loungers at 5am! So it was hilarious when a queue forms at 8:45 and a mad dash ensues to the best parts of the pool area! But it was half the fun!
We stayed haf-board so have no comment on the lunches but the breakfasts were pretty good... other than the dubious "sausages"! The evening meals were always superb and given it was a buffet you could stack as much as you like on your plates! I hate to think what weight I have put on! A special note for the different flavoured mousses they have for desert... heaven!
Salou itself is very lively but we tended to stay in our own area. There is a cracking bar next to the hotel that is Dutch. Salou is NOT exclusively English... in fact it is the least English resort I have stayed in but all the better for it. You do have English bars but there are Spanish, Dutch and the odd French bar. As for entertainment in the hotel well... other than the acrobats it is totally for local consumption. As soon as the DJ started the local pensioners were giving it the fandango, cha-cha-cha and waltz on the dancefloor. Both my girlfriend and I are over 40 but it was too old for us! But the solution to this is...go elsewhere for your fun.
The beach at Salou is pretty busy so we tended to go up to Cambrils which is the other side of Salou to La Pineda. Cambrils is very Spanish and a lot of the places have no English speakers but if you are OK with this then the resort is quieter than Salou and more tasteful. La Pineda didn't seem too appealing, what with the panoramic views of the oil refineries across the bay... But it did have Aquopolis which was lots of fun though it is a bit cheeky to charge €23.50 and then ask you to shell out extra for sun loungers and rubber rings that most of the rides required!
But that's nitpicking... all in all, excellent Hotel and a good resort.

I (21 year old girl) have just come back from a one week holiday staying at this hotel with my friend (19 year old girl) . I have to disagree with a lot of the comments that people have made regarding the English being treated differently to the rest of the guests, I personally feel that all the staff were very friendly and made me and my friend feel most welcome! There were a wide range of guests from different countries staying at the hotel, but what fun would there be if there were only English people staying there! Me and my friend made friends with people from vairous countires while on our visit and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. There is a good variety of food on offer andI couldnt fault it as there really was something for everyone. The evening entertainment at the hotel probably isnt for you if you are very young like myself, having said that it was nice to just sit at the bar in the hotel in the evening with a drink and just relax. The nightlife in Salou is quite lively and is definately suited to individuals in the teens and twenties, however, you do get hassled by the PRs when you are walking around Salou in the evening and this did become very annoying! The hotel is in a good location and is just in walking distance to Salou beach, however, me and my friend preferred to go to the beach on La Pineda which was just a bus ride away as we found this a lot quieter than Salou beach. The hotel is also a bus ride away from aquapolis water park, again in La pineda and a bus ride away from Port Aventura theme park. Me and my friend visited the Aquapolis water park but were slightly disappointed as we had to pay 23 euros to get in and then once we were in you had to pay extra for sun beds and rubber rings in order to go on the rides. Overall I would definately recommend this hotel to other people who are a similar age to myself or to families as it is in a good location, it is clean and I would definately go again!
