Myself and my partner have just come back from a 2 week stay at the Salou Princess, Salou! Upon arrival the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had to wait 2 hours to get checked in, but this was understandable! so we just chilled by the pool!
The first night we ate at the restaurant, the food was reasonable and there was a selection of "different" foods, returning the second night, the food was horrible and it was pretty much the same! We stuck it out for the 1st week, but then decided to eat out the 2nd week, which was costing us on average 40euros per night! which was a lot seeing as we were half board, and our meals were included!
The entertainment was bland, spanish music most night's with dancing, there was no night entertainment for younger people (early 20's) so we either ended up just drinking at the bar or heading out to the clubs. There was a lack of English speaking guests, and was generally spanish, italian, french and german guests (who take over the whole hotel), us english guests were always treated different and second in the queue for everything.
The rooms were clean and tidy, and towels were changed daily! so no complaints there!
Salou itself is good to see in a couple of days, but being there for 2 weeks was far to long! and I wouldn't be going back! I would recommend going to Salou on a day visit and not as a holiday for 2 weeks!

I have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Salou with my partner our 3 teenage daughters and my oldest daughters friend.
The hotel is situated just off a very busy large roundabout, with dual carriageway style roads out the front. There is a crossing close by, but you have to walk in the opposite direction to the sea front/shops to use it.
The hotel guests were approx 90% Spanish, Scandinavian, Dutch, French and German.
The food was of international cuisine, lots of variety but we struggled to pull together a decent meal (meat, 2 veg & potatoes). Everything was lashed with herbs, spices and garlic. Even making a salad became a laborious task with exactly the same on offer day after day. Seafood night (once a week) was hell. There was meat available in the form of rabbits legs. Our only saving grace was tuna pizza with black olives and fries.
At your evening meal you had to pay for your drinks including water. Two large bottles of water and maybe two cokes set us back approx 10 euros. Thats an additional 140 euros (£100) expenditure to have a drink with our evening meals for the duration of the holiday (didn't even try the wines as we found the hotel drinks expensive).
Dining room staff were ok, however we witnessed a number of arguments between them, with cutlery and glasses being clashed around and waitresses clearly in a strop.
At breakfast one morning I left our dining pass on the table. I reported this to reception who told me to speak to the dining room staff. The lady whom I presumed was in charge assured me it it was fine, she knew who we were and it was not necessary to have a replacement. A couple of days later my daughter and I went for breakfast and placed our bags on chairs around a table for 6 - as others were following. We got our fruit, juice, coffees and cooked breakfasts intermittently returning to the table to place our food and drinks down. On return with our cooked breakfasts a Spanish couple placed their pass on our table, complained to a waitress, who then started shouting at us in Spanish to move as we did not have a pass. It was clear to see who had the table first as the Spanish couple had no food, however we had our food removed and no option but to change tables. Clearly we were treated like second class guests with no reasoning at all, and no English translator to assist. The other couple could have moved much easier, as they had no food or drinks. The same waitress glared and hovered around us in the dining room for the rest of the holiday. We all felt that this was intolerable and ended up dining out rather than use the restaurant.
Inflatables were not allowed in the pool, however small balls were allowed as long as we stayed close together (this was only granted after we complained that Spanish guests had balls in the pool after we were asked to remove ours earlier in the day). Whilst playing 'piggy in the middle' in a virtually empty pool, the lifeguards steely eyes were upon us with tuts, frowns then he picked up his chair from under the waterfall, clashed it to the floor directly in front of us sat down and stared at us, making us completely uncomfortable and we left the pool!
The rooms were very clean, however I had very little trust in the cleaners as small items such as glasses we had purchased to have a drink on the balcony were removed from the rooms - twice! I also was unhappy that the 'do not disturb' signs on your door were insignificant as the cleaners just entered your room anyway.
The Italian rep, was quite informative however gave us no local information - eg it was a Spanish holiday and there was a huge firework display - this is all we know that went on. Roads were closed and we were descended upon by thousands for their celebrations. We would have liked to have gone and watched the events however by the time the firework display started the kids had gone to play cards on the balcony because they were bored. We only saw the rep for the welcome meeting then when we were at the airport leaving.
The entertainment was solely for Spaniards. When the pool closed at 8pm and the back gates opened the Spanish flooded in to waltz the night away. There is no music round the pool, very little went on, and what did happen we were never invited to join in. The Sporting Legends bar was a dead loss with barely any guests drinking there.
We could have enjoyed a weekend at Salou as there was very little for teenagers including Portaventura which catered for the younger children. Caribba Aqua Park cost 20 euros each admittance even after purchasing vouchers for 2 weeks to cover both parks.
Overall it was a holiday from hell and we will be very reluctant to visit Spain again or to use Airtours as our travel operator.

Just back from a two week stay in this hotel with my boyfriend. Don't think we'll ever return to this hotel again. Not only are the staff ignorant and rude but the food on offer was not great. After spending so much on this holiday we ended up having to spend because we could not eat in the hotel.
Hotel room was clean and immaculate but the same can’t be said for the pool area. There where dead flies and leaves in the pool, and coming towards the end of the day you could not go into the pool as it was so filthy.
The hotel didn't attract too many English customers as it was full of German/ French/ Spanish people. As we don’t know very much Spanish it was quite hard to interact with other people.
The main highlight of the holiday was the Port Aventura theme park. We went mostly in the evenings when it was cooler and quieter, definitely worth it as you aren’t waiting in the queues long! (About 15mins at the most!) If I hadn’t been for the theme park the holiday would have been a definite disappointment. There isn’t much night life in Salou. As we’re a young couple around our 20's we found ourselves drinking most nights in our hotel room or in a wee bars along the coast.
Overall I would not be back in Salon again. Next time it will be Barcelona! May be a bit far from the theme park and the coast but I think the travelling will make be better than spending money in a hotel that doesn't satisfy your needs or be around arrogant people who can’t speak a bloody word of English!!!

I think that this holiday is one for the families because you can go on brill days out and meet loads of new people, you can try the local cuisine and you can also take one of the best trips of your childs life and go in a jeep for the day...
The hotel was very clean and consisted of o.k. Rooms but if you spend a lot of time in your room I don’t think this is the best for you...the entertainment is poor as it is all in Spanish and so you really have to make your own entertainment which is great because you can explore Salou and go shopping and so on
I think this is probably the best place to go on holiday with the sun and great beaches and theme parks to relax in and explore....
This being said this is the 6th time I’ve been.

Arrived at Salou Princess on 03-07-07 for 2 weeks to celebrate 25 happy years of marriage.
Upon arrival the hotel looked very nice and we were thrilled that we got a room overlooking both the pool and the beach. However, I noticed as soon as we opened the door to the room there was a very strong smell of tobacco smoke. I smoke myself but the smell was over-whelming so I sprayed the room and curtains with freshener evertime we left or entered the room throughout the two weeks stay.
My husband and I noticed half way through the 1st week there was more French, Germans, and white Spanish than English culture. However, we thought that was due to the time of change over of residents, well that was not the case.
The food at the hotel was good and there was enough to cater for all cultures even those that were either medical or funny eaters. However, I found it strange that chips were on offer for breakfast which was served between 8 till 10.30.
As time moved into the second week my husband and noticed that we were being singled out from other guests. We got no hello or a kind look from any person working on reception even when there was know-one else around. It also became apparent in the dinning room when I was taking our plates off the table to put them on the trolley used for dirty dishes.
On Saturday the 14th and since the weather was very hot we decided to go down to the pool for the afternoon, and because there was room to soak up the rays. Little did we know this was the start of our troubles? We had our bag stolen which had items like my I-pod, my husband's watch plus other things money for a drink.
When reception staff was notified of the theft my husband got the reply, of silence and a shrug of shoulders. No-one wanted to help or advise us of how we go about reporting the theft to the police. We weren’t even asked if we had money for a drink at that time or in fact for the rest of the remaining time at the hotel.
On the 16th we finally and at last got the theft reported in the incident book at the police station in the old town of Salou. We were then told from police translator to go back to hotel and logged the theft in their in incident book. After much and heated exchange of words, my husband was told by female receptionist that he was very lucky she was speaking English as she is Spanish and that we were in Spain.
To sum up our experience from was a happy two weeks celebration. If you are English and staying at this hotel you must be very thick skinned to put up and shut up.

I went to H10 Salou Princess Hotel on 2nd July for a week with my boyfriend and parents.. Overall it's a really nice hotel, here's what we thought:
Food: Fish is on the menu every day, some days it is only fish, - and the fish has eyes, bones, teeth.. The food seems to get cold quite quickly and it is not covered (so flies and ants can get to it). The hot dogs, burgers, and chips are okay.
Breakfast was a little disappointing as well - as soon as you got your food to your table it would be cold. Good variety at breakfast and dinner though. Oh, also, whilst I remember, you aren't allowed to take drinks into the restaurant at dinner, you have to buy drinks whilst you're in there, they are quite expensive!
Rooms: The rooms are a nice enough size for two people, any more then you'll be cramped. The balcony is a lovely size and the curtains are thick enough to block out the light!
The maids come round every morning starting at about 8.30 - our room didn't get cleaned 3 times as we were still asleep (that's our fault though) but the maids will come back and clean them later if you ask. The beds are nicely made, but the mattresses are quite hard, not very comfy to sleep on. The shower is lovely, until the person next door has a shower - it gets very hot and then very cold..
Pool: The pool is lovely. Adequate size, lovely Jacuzzi, plenty of sunbeds. The pool opens at 9am - no one can reserve sunbeds which is quite good! The Jacuzzi did break 2 or 3 times whilst we were there and wasn't fixed until the next day. At the pool there were activities once for children.
Beach: The beach is so close! It's down the bottom of the road which is lovely, sunbeds and umbrellas you have to pay for. There are little boats to peddle around in at 10 Euros each and there are jet skis a little further along.
Bars & Clubs: There are so many!! They all try to drag you in and offer a free shot (which you don't always get) I would recommend Danny Boy's - Food is lovely. Night time entertainment is great. The drinks are fairly priced so overall a very nice Irish Bar!
The hotel also has its own bar inside for refreshments throughout the day and there is a Sports Legend Tavern newly built on the side of H10 Salou Princess, that's okay. The drinks are quite cheap and they have some nice cocktails.
I recommend that you head straight pass Danny boys towards the beach, turn right heading towards the chemist and just before that there is a lovely ice-cream cafe. YUM!
Port Aventura: Is great. I really enjoyed it, me and my boyfriend went on every decent ride there, and it's not any more expensive than Alton Towers (but just as good). You can get photos for a good price and on the new attraction there you can get a video of you on the actual ride, it's really good!
Water Parks: I did not go to the water park joint onto Port Aventura as I heard it was rubbish compared to Aquapolis (the local water park). I did go to Aquapolis and that was great! Plenty of things to do and different ways to get wet for all ages. There's also a Dolphin and Sea Lion show, I saw the end and the Dolphins are really good - they can do back flips!!
H10 Salou Princess Hotel Overall: Overall not a bad experience. All features of it were lovely, the hotel was very picturesque - my parents, boyfriend and I didn't enjoy the food that much (mainly due to the coldness of it and the high amount of fish).

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Salou Princess and I feel that there are some points that need reflecting upon.
The good points of the hotel are its position close to all the amenities such as beach, Fuerteventura and bus service; it was also a clean hotel with a very pleasant and professional team of cleaning staff.
Some complaints were about the food but we did find it all of good quality and always plenty on offer.
The bad points unfortunately impacted far too much for us to return to this hotel, there did seem to be a strong focus upon Spanish, French and German customers, simply highlighted by the amount of TV channels on offer in the room (12 Spanish, 4 German, 3 French and for the English speaking news 24 and National Geographic), this said, there was only one Dutch Channel.
The fact that we were given a corner room where only two of the three of us could use the balcony at any one time, did give us cause for concern and upon requesting a possible room move we were informed 'You are English and you have requested the floor and the beds' I am still unsure what was meant by this but no room change was forthcoming.
The overall main reason for not returning was the very poor customer service, from all but two members of the reception, bar and dining room staff there was a definite lack of care and in some cases we felt positively bullied by the attitude.
Every request that we had was met by a 'tut' or a rolling of the eyes, even when we asked in Spanish.
Luckily for us the rest of our holiday was well planned by ourselves and thankfully we didn’t have to spend much time in the hotel.
I also have to say that we will not be travelling with Thomson Travel again, although the staff at this end were helpful and the flight crews were good, the holiday reps need to at least have some knowledge of what is going on in their hotel and local area, our first rep (week 1) was abysmal, from reading some of the books on her desk we ended up informing her of what was going on in the town.
In conclusion, if we had planned to stay for two weeks using the hotel's facilities it would have been a total washout. As it was we travelled far and wide and met some great people which made up for the hotel.

Me, my husband and 13year old son stayed at the hotel Salou Princess for 2 weeks August 2006. The hotel itself is nice, clean and well maintained, but nobody warned us of the amount of Spanish, French and German guests that stayed there.
Entertainment day and night was very poor, there is nothing for teenagers to do during the day and night time all of the entertainers are Spanish. The food in the restaurant is edible, my only complaint is that there was too much fish on the menu. Rooms were small but very clean, we did not have a pool view of which I had requested, our room was at the side of the hotel with what sounded like the boiler room underneath.
Salou itself is a beautiful place, lovely beach and plenty of places to visit, but I would recommend the hotel for middle to older aged people.

I returned home from visiting Salou a week ago today, and I must take this opportunity to say how brilliant my overall experience was. The hotel - H10 Salou Princess was the best hotel my family and I have ever stayed in.
Every member of staff was extremely helpful and friendly in all areas. The hotel is situated in a prime location, being just a very short walk away from all of Salou's best restaurants, bars, shops and the beach.
The Salou Princess catered for a very wide variety of people, for example my brother and I, being nineteen and seventeen, were looking for a good night life and the chance to meet new people, whereas our parents, being 50 and 58, where looking for a quiet relaxing location, and a short walk from Salou's beautifully unique shops, and the golden sandy beach.
This is the best holiday I have been on, and I will definitely be returning next year.

Brilliant hotel, staff and facilities. Our first time in Salou, first time at Salou Princes. Staff were more than helpful and very friendly. By far the best hotel we have stayed in. The meals were very varied and even managed to find something to tempt my very unadventurous palate!!!!!!
Everywhere was immaculately clean and the maid, Angela, who cleaned our room every day, worked hard and nothing was overlooked.
The hotel is on the main road but its not necessarily noisy, we were in a room facing this road and we were not bothered by the traffic noise at all. There is a small pool which although ideal for the two of us would be ideal for a family with small children. Its not the sort of hotel and pool that older teenagers would prefer as there are no major activities for this age group.
All in all a brilliant and efficiently run hotel one that makes us feel relaxed and very, very welcome. We have booked to return there again in June this year (2006).

Stayed at Salou Princess for one week. Excellent hotel, food was very good and the hotel was well maintained in all areas. Very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the pool and there was no noise. We really couldnt fault anything at the hotel. We spent 2 days at Portaventura theme park and 1 day at the Caribe Aqua Park, and had a great time. Only thing we didnt like was Salou town centre - it was very busy and so was the beach, but if you like more peace and quiet, just hop on the bus along the road to Cambrils and you are away from all the hustle and bustle, there's a nice harbour and marina, more of a typical Spanish area. And plenty of space on the beach, you're not all sitting on top of one another like you would be in Salou. Generally, food and drinks very expensive and for that reason we wouldnt go back. There are nicer less expensive places to go, particularly if you go all inclusive which is a good idea just now given the exchange rate of the Euro.
