Submitted By: Miss L GFood was brilliant, lots too choose from, lovely desserts, u cant go wrong, however have to say by the 5th day all the food jus started to taste the same because the flavourings were very similiar, however all in all great food and choice, and dinner hall was nice and staff very helpful. we were fullboard, but they ony gave drinks with breakfast, which meant lunch and dinner time u had to pay for drinks, which can be quite alot when u spending 3 euros on bottled water each time.
Location wise this hotel is perfect, jus like 2 mins away from main strip where all shops, bars, resturants are, so 10 outter 10 for thay.
Also there are like 3 beaches within 5 mins walk, which is great, one of them is like 2 mins away up the hill, then turn right and you see it. This was the small one which we honestly love because was just right and not too packed, which we found in the larger beach, which you see if u walk lil further then the small beach. Cleab beaches and plenty things to do water games wise for kids, lovely atmosphere and we were there nearly everyday.
A fun day out would be too go to aquapolis water park which is in la pineda about a 10 min bus ride away and will cost about 2 to 3 euros. The actually park tickets are around 23 euros, but I would reccommend to go because it is great fun, couldn't fault it. But buying your lunch there you will find a rip off, because a chicken burger is like 6 euros!!
But what can u do, u have to eat!! Only other option is take a packed luch with ya., which you would have to keep in a locker there, which is also a bit of a rip of at 8 euros, however you get 3 euros back on returing the key, so although may be pricey, well worth it, because the fun you have will make it all worth it. I have to say all in all spain in very exspensive at the moment, and no cheaper then uk, so something one should be prepared for.
Evening wise loads food places and bars to go too but in august it starts getting dead clubbing wise, best to go june july time for the best nightlife, clubs and bar wise. Shops and stuff still very busy though. Too much and tropical nice bars to go too, but once agin drinks pricey at 8 euros for a malibu and lemonade, however they do give generous portions over there, its more like a triple the a single. Kiss great club to go too along the strip.
Hotel entertainment was okay, not bad, something different everynight, great for families, kids will enjoy it. Maids clean room daily, and towels changed daily, however our bedsheets werent changed the whole week we was there.
Also there is one blonde haired women who was at reception alot, who was extremely rude, couldnt speak barely any english, and only was nice to the spanish people, trust me, you will know who this lady is when you get there.
Also once i asked to borrow the iron for just 5 mins to iron a top, and this nasty women said to me will cost me 2 euros!! thats a disgrace, never have i been to a hotel where they charge to to use the iron, it is usually standard part of every hotel service!! even travel lodge let u borrow the iron, and they are known to jus provide very basics, which is the bed!!!
But i have to say I had a great time at this hotel, and these little negative points are a minor and will not spoil ur holiday or your stay in this hotel.. It is a brilliant hotel and my mum is thinking of going, and i wouldnt mind going again.

Submitted By: Mr M SmithFrom the moment we arrived at the airport we had the best time ever the hotel we can not fault it was very clean the family room we were allocated was better than we thought with ample space. The choice of food being offered was great the only down side was no drinks are provided with evening meals and you have to buy your water for 3 euro you can not take your own in. the pool was great and the kids entertainment was fine with plenty to offer. Staff are very friendly. To be fair this hotel is only a 3 star rating to us it was like a 5 star hotel with marble floors and stairs. we are looking to go again in 2009 and will be trying for this hotel again. Please don't listen to the bad reviews maybe some expectations are more than others to us we wished we were still there. Only 1 more point to make itf your are a family going it is cheaper to use a taxi as transfers from the airport there and back than buy bus at a cost of £66.00 all in.

Submitted By: Miss J Athertonthe hotel is kept very clean and tidy and our rooms were cleaned every morning imacuatly. The outside pool is quite small, but is great for when you need a dip from being so hot! all outside area is kept very clean and safe.
Before going on holiday i read some reveiws saying the food was very poor. well i dont know if its changed since then but i thought the food was great. it offers a wide range, something for everyone with different meats vegatables and pastas. the puddings were very yummy and offered all sorts. they looked very pretty. breakfasts was very good too, offereng everything you could want for breakfasts! fry -ups very nice!
Salou is a awsome place to go to! it has everything you could want for a the nightlife is fantastic!! ive been to Salou twice now and i would always go back =).
Overall Playa Margarita hotel is a lovely hotel and you get what you pay for. if your paying three star price then that is what you get. i would deffently come back again, if your young then deffently come here, its great!!

Submitted By: Ms K McNallyThe entertainment was appalling, it was a repeat every couple of nights. The pool was very small & quite cold.
The good thing about this hotel is how clean it is & also the location of how close it is to the beach, shops etc...
I would not go back to this hotel.

Submitted By: Miss L McphersonThe food was at a very high standard with great variety and a different theme and selection every night. The rooms were spacious, clean and safe. The hotel is very central for shops, bars, restaurants and very close to the beaches. The hotel also had live entertainment every night which was also good and professional, the hotel was also child friendly and has a children's club. It also boasts a gym and indoor pool as well as outdoor which we used frequently.
The hotel did not have any school children in sight and was also a family hotel, we didn't come across any pensioners!!
I would definitely recommend this hotel. My boyfriend and I are currently trying to book again.
Don't listen to the bad reviews!!!

Submitted By: Mrs S McnallySalou is brill but this accommodation was not good for me and my husband and 4 kids.
I just about agree with every bad review written about Playa Margarita. My husband and son could only eat chips we had to eat out most of the time which I did not budget for.
Spanish school kids keep you awake all night knocking on your door. The only decent entertainment was Emile, whom we saw twice during the fortnight we were there.
I would recommend Salou but go self catering to another accommodation e.g. International 2 or Las Dalies.

Submitted By: Miss J KnivetonOur room was extremely clean and modern however, we were extremely overlooked by the hotel opposite and there was a very bad smell that failed to disappear during the duration of our stay.
We were based on the top of the hotel which could only be accessed by stairs as the lift failed to reach our floor.
The staff were extremely friendly and especially helpful in the restaurant. The food was very basic but offered something for everyone.
Salou is very cramped and many buildings are very rundown. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants although we didn't actually eat out as the restaurants didn't look particularly appetising.
The hotel offers evening entertainment every night, some of which is far better than others. As it was my boyfriends first visit to Spain we made a conscious effort to stay and watch the flamenco evening which was absolutely awful! A real disappointment.
However the entertainment did improve on certain nights.
The beach was extremely busy despite being very large. We only spent one morning at Salou beach as by the afternoon people were swarming all around us. As beach lovers we spent most of our time at the neighbouring beach La Pineda which is beautiful- A ten minute bus ride away.
The hotel pool was small but clean and watched by a lifeguard. There are plenty of sunloungers available and a bar.
The Aquapolis waterpark is fantastic and definitely worth a visit, based in La Pineda, has a fantastic dolphin show.
We had a fantastic holiday, weather was great, hotel very clean and modern and had some great day trips.
However, Salou was a disappointment and we tried to spend as much time away from it as possible. We would not return.

Submitted By: Mrs L SimmonsOnce our room was available I was disappointed to find we were on the fifth floor to say we had booked it 12 months previously. The barrier on the balcony was loose and having two small children it was unsafe.
The food at the hotel wasn’t very nice, we ate out a few times. The meat was undercooked and not a lot of choice for children. My daughter lived on ice cream for 2 weeks. I have been half board before and stayed in a sol hotel which has been excellent. This group of hotels doesn't match up to sol hotels.
The good thing about this hotel was the maid service was excellent and it was very clean. The location was good very close to bars and restaurants. I'd recommend going to the Club Tropicana bar and Jimmy’s karaoke bar for families. Some bars are dingy and dirty; I would try and avoid Idols and The Cavern.
The Rovers Return family pub I would not take kids in there after 10pm as the dj can get very arrogant and swears a lot. My children both enjoyed Salou as there are plenty of miniature funfairs etc.
I would not go back. I thought the resort was dirty and overcrowded. Sewerage had a habit of popping up in the streets out of the grates. The beaches were lovely and safe for children. Watch out for the stray cats there are plenty of them.

Now that in its self would not have been a problem had the lift gone to the sixth floor but the lift only goes to the fifth floor and I had to carry two suitcases and two bags up a flight of stairs that had no handrail for my husband to pull himself up on, it was pitch dark there were no lights to enable us to find our room, I ended up going back to reception to ask the desk clerk to show us which room was ours as we could not see in the dark . He helped us to eventually find the room I asked to be allocated another room and as late Sept through to Oct is the time the Spanish pensioners are sent on their hols for free by the government we did not stand a chance.
Briefly: the food was cold or luke warm, the vegs were raw. If I ever see another piece of pork I shall throw up.
Not to mention the room stank from the toilets it was damp and we shared it with lizards, my husband is slowly recovering from the hotel being on the top of a hill and the death trap doorways that you had to step up to go through and down a step to the room you were going to .this hotel is totally
Unsuitable for anyone who has any disabilities so beware you have been warned. The best part of this holiday (which we paid £839 for a week in late September) was arriving back in Birmingham, such a relief. Salou is fantastic but those of you who are reaching the golden years do your homework thoroughly because if the brochure says its in an elevated position, it means its on top of a mountain
The end Maureen and Peter Green from Walsall.
