hi me and my family wentto hotel margarita for 3 weeks , half board , it started off a bit of a nightmare and then got worse this hotel is full of spainish oaps , and french there was not a single english couple or even elderly coupls in the hotel , whilsts getting our dinner and breakfast we were looked upon as though we were green with large heads ,they starred at throughout our meals and was not worried that they affended us , also this is classed as a 3 star , i dont think so its more like a 2 as the pool is absolutaly rubbish the pool is small in the back of the hotel with not a lot of sun throughout the day maybe a couple of hrs if ya lucky, also the deep end is the main end to get in so if ya have kids they need to walk all the way round to the end of the pool which does not have a lot of room which is rubbish also the whole time wew was there no one put any chlorine into the pools or the little bubble pool which looked constantley yellow we had the main room on the first floor above the pool so saw this every night when it was time to put the chairs away which there is only about 20 , the entertainment was rubbish unless you were spainsih not a lot for the kids to do either . mine were tottlay bored all the time . so we oppted for the hotel next door which was hotel salou park a sister hotel , this was a bit better and was ment to be 4 star but more like a 3 . we spent a few days in this pool as much better for the kids they also had a games room downstairs but this was a bit expensive all the time as the pool table was 2 euros s a go but if you go accross the rd to the rio grande an english pub they do nice food and cheep pool for the kids only 1 euro as it all adds up as they were playing all night as nothing else to do .
my kids also got an ear infection each , which was with no guessing from the dirty pools they had to have antibiotics from the chemist , after 2 weeks of theis horrid hotel we was spending more time on the beach as the kids ears were bad . this eventually wore off and we met a holiday rep from a english hotel called hotel avenida all english . much better, hotel as we spent the last week at this hotel just using there ammienities , much much better and only a 3 star but was better than both hotels b4 , hadf all things for the kids alsao much better pools bigger and better entertainment if anyone is thinking about going to this hotel please think again its not good AT ALL my husband also had 2 [--] stolen out of our hotel room .... also we repoted this to the recption and he said to us well it was not a video camera or camera ??? not ammused at all ..... never go there again and food was also cold all the time we had to put our food into the microwave to heat it up ... my 2 sons had food poisioning , and had to go staight to the the hospital when we got back to england .... also there ear infection came back as it didnt go completly . and had to get some more antibiotics in england for this so they were totally ill .. also the food was repeated too much and if like fish most nights then this is the place for you . flies all on the food ....!!! we ate out alot .... plz dont go to this hotel
- Advice: maily for young teens or early 20s night life very bad as police all over arresting the drug dealers

i have just returned from salou for 4 th time love it. we fancyed a change of hotel (big mistake) we stayed at playa margarita room was ok but had to change after my apartment was flooed by me having shower and the floor was all one level in bathroom so asked to be changed to bath and shower . my daughter had 3 bacardi breezers in bar and was drunk looked at sell by date was 2 years out of date .i spoke to the manager and he said not a problem in spain. at night very noisey from thin walls and doors slaming and shouting . and people knocking on doors the kitchen staff has a radio on in kitchen from 5am so if your on first floor expect to be up early very loud. i paid for meal first night before i booked for half board glad i did all fish no choice . location very good had all our meals at a cafe on same road called chippy very good value nice staff and what a breakfast for 3 euros i will go back but will return to hotel colipso were i stayed 3 times before

Me and my boyfriend here on 24th august 2008, which was the bank holiday weekend in which we travelled. I had previously already been salou in 2006, and stayed in Goldern playa park which was a fantastic hotel. Well now about playa margarita, we arrived at the hotel on sunday about 5pm, and there was a man about 24ish who spoke well english and we were given our room straight away, no waiting about which was good. Going up to the room we were sure it would be nice, as from outside the hotel is nice, and the reception, hall ways etc were all good, absolutely nothing wrong with them and very clean. We got into our room and we were extremely pleased, it was nice and airy, and well decorated, the bathroom was lovely, clean and water hot. only thing is the shower didnt have a tub, it was like all same level flooring, meaning the water went all over the bathroom floor, so that was a bit annoying. We just laid down the towels they provided to stop it coming out the room. Just ask for more at reception if need more towels, they gave them quite freely.
Food was brilliant, lots too choose from, lovely desserts, u cant go wrong, however have to say by the 5th day all the food jus started to taste the same because the flavourings were very similiar, however all in all great food and choice, and dinner hall was nice and staff very helpful. we were fullboard, but they ony gave drinks with breakfast, which meant lunch and dinner time u had to pay for drinks, which can be quite alot when u spending 3 euros on bottled water each time.
Location wise this hotel is perfect, jus like 2 mins away from main strip where all shops, bars, resturants are, so 10 outter 10 for thay.
Also there are like 3 beaches within 5 mins walk, which is great, one of them is like 2 mins away up the hill, then turn right and you see it. This was the small one which we honestly love because was just right and not too packed, which we found in the larger beach, which you see if u walk lil further then the small beach. Cleab beaches and plenty things to do water games wise for kids, lovely atmosphere and we were there nearly everyday.
A fun day out would be too go to aquapolis water park which is in la pineda about a 10 min bus ride away and will cost about 2 to 3 euros. The actually park tickets are around 23 euros, but I would reccommend to go because it is great fun, couldn't fault it. But buying your lunch there you will find a rip off, because a chicken burger is like 6 euros!!
But what can u do, u have to eat!! Only other option is take a packed luch with ya., which you would have to keep in a locker there, which is also a bit of a rip of at 8 euros, however you get 3 euros back on returing the key, so although may be pricey, well worth it, because the fun you have will make it all worth it. I have to say all in all spain in very exspensive at the moment, and no cheaper then uk, so something one should be prepared for.
Evening wise loads food places and bars to go too but in august it starts getting dead clubbing wise, best to go june july time for the best nightlife, clubs and bar wise. Shops and stuff still very busy though. Too much and tropical nice bars to go too, but once agin drinks pricey at 8 euros for a malibu and lemonade, however they do give generous portions over there, its more like a triple the a single. Kiss great club to go too along the strip.
Hotel entertainment was okay, not bad, something different everynight, great for families, kids will enjoy it. Maids clean room daily, and towels changed daily, however our bedsheets werent changed the whole week we was there.
Also there is one blonde haired women who was at reception alot, who was extremely rude, couldnt speak barely any english, and only was nice to the spanish people, trust me, you will know who this lady is when you get there.
Also once i asked to borrow the iron for just 5 mins to iron a top, and this nasty women said to me will cost me 2 euros!! thats a disgrace, never have i been to a hotel where they charge to to use the iron, it is usually standard part of every hotel service!! even travel lodge let u borrow the iron, and they are known to jus provide very basics, which is the bed!!!
But i have to say I had a great time at this hotel, and these little negative points are a minor and will not spoil ur holiday or your stay in this hotel.. It is a brilliant hotel and my mum is thinking of going, and i wouldnt mind going again.

We have just arrived back from salou after our 1st holiday abroad with 2 small children and having read the reviews we were worried this was going to be a big dissapointment.
From the moment we arrived at the airport we had the best time ever the hotel we can not fault it was very clean the family room we were allocated was better than we thought with ample space. The choice of food being offered was great the only down side was no drinks are provided with evening meals and you have to buy your water for 3 euro you can not take your own in. the pool was great and the kids entertainment was fine with plenty to offer. Staff are very friendly. To be fair this hotel is only a 3 star rating to us it was like a 5 star hotel with marble floors and stairs. we are looking to go again in 2009 and will be trying for this hotel again. Please don't listen to the bad reviews maybe some expectations are more than others to us we wished we were still there. Only 1 more point to make itf your are a family going it is cheaper to use a taxi as transfers from the airport there and back than buy bus at a cost of £66.00 all in.

Brilliant location, only a 5 minute walk from the main nightlife and clubs. I went with 3 other friends looking for a fun, girls holiday, and Salou was perfect. Clean beaches, plenty of places to eat out and drink, the sea front is gorgeous at night. The hotel itself is really clean and well looked after. However, the staff didn't speak brilliant English so it was sometimes difficult to understand them. The food is fine, something for everyone. Didn't sample much of the brekfast, we weren't getting in til 5-6am!! Please dnt listen to the bad reviews, this hotel is fine for what you will need it for. The entertainment isn't very good but due to the number of clubs and pubs around it wasn't an issue for us.

Great hotel, Food was nice, Accommodation was clean and staff were helpful. My only negative comment is that the aircon stopped working for first night and it had been 28c in day and min of 21c overnight so was rather warm sleeping as you can imagine.

if you are young i would advise you not to go there its more for familys and older people. if i new when i got there i would of asked for a hotel who wanted noise because we was coming in at 3 nearly every mornin and bein a bit loud, however we was never up for brekfast because it was discustiing think we only made it once or twice and when we did go it looked like dryed up food which didnt look enjoyble at all. there was a few nights where the food wasnt to good but if you like meat then thats ok i enjoyed it but my friend was eatin chips and bread for 2 weeks unless we went to eat out. one problem with the room was the bed it was like sleepin on rocks only reson bein u had a little pillow which made you have a sore back the next day. everything else was spot on shower was lovley balcony was good to look at and make friends. but if you are young nightlife is really really good try bus stop kiss 007 and ski hut and go to jimmys they will love you lol! so all together the holiday was brill everything went well just a few people in reception was ignorant and rude to you! and others helped you out as much as possible so thankyou and see you probley next year but not to this hotel .. lisa 18 nottingham

I would just like to say, pleaaase DO NOT listen to the bad reviews!! i have just got back from a week staying in this hotel and i thought it was brilliant! i went with my friend for a relaxing holiday and to try out a few of the bars/clubs. the hotel is situated in the perfect location, yes its up a slight hill but its 5 minutes from the beech if you turn left and litrally two minute walk to the shops and bars on your right.
the hotel is kept very clean and tidy and our rooms were cleaned every morning imacuatly. The outside pool is quite small, but is great for when you need a dip from being so hot! all outside area is kept very clean and safe.
Before going on holiday i read some reveiws saying the food was very poor. well i dont know if its changed since then but i thought the food was great. it offers a wide range, something for everyone with different meats vegatables and pastas. the puddings were very yummy and offered all sorts. they looked very pretty. breakfasts was very good too, offereng everything you could want for breakfasts! fry -ups very nice!
Salou is a awsome place to go to! it has everything you could want for a the nightlife is fantastic!! ive been to Salou twice now and i would always go back =).
Overall Playa Margarita hotel is a lovely hotel and you get what you pay for. if your paying three star price then that is what you get. i would deffently come back again, if your young then deffently come here, its great!!

Before going to the H10 Margarita I have to admit I was a bit nervous from reading some of the reviews. Our hotel room was spotless & cleaned to perfection every morning. The hotel overall was very clean. I was very disappointed with the food, the food was never cooked properly, it always looked quite raw. My fiance & I ended up eating out alot of the time.
The entertainment was appalling, it was a repeat every couple of nights. The pool was very small & quite cold.
The good thing about this hotel is how clean it is & also the location of how close it is to the beach, shops etc...
I would not go back to this hotel.

i have stayed at this hotel on 3 previous occaisions and have booked again this year.the hotel is in a good location is very clean and tidy.we always found something to our taste in the restuarant although it was not 5 star we were not paying 5 star prices.all in all we think the hotel is good value for money.again the entertainment was not 1st class but you only get what you pay for.there are plenty of bars and eating places places about so take your pick that suits.taxis and buses are cheap and theme parks are in easy reach.the reason it gets crowded at times is because its a popular resort.if you want pease and quiet go somewhere else out of season.

This hotel was everything I could have asked for. I went on holiday with my boyfriend and stayed in H10 Playa Margarita for 14 nights - Half board. However before our trip we read these bad reviews and were worried sick about going to Playa Margaritas! But I am pleased to say we thought it was a well run hotel with a warm greeting on arrival with friendly and helpful staff.
The food was at a very high standard with great variety and a different theme and selection every night. The rooms were spacious, clean and safe. The hotel is very central for shops, bars, restaurants and very close to the beaches. The hotel also had live entertainment every night which was also good and professional, the hotel was also child friendly and has a children's club. It also boasts a gym and indoor pool as well as outdoor which we used frequently.
The hotel did not have any school children in sight and was also a family hotel, we didn't come across any pensioners!!
I would definitely recommend this hotel. My boyfriend and I are currently trying to book again.
Don't listen to the bad reviews!!!

My parents, myself, partner & 2 year old stayed here for a week from 4th Sept-11th Sept 2010. Had no real complaints about this hotel other than the pool isn't up to scratch but we used the Salou Park (next door) and went to the nearby beach.
Maid service was great fresh towels everyday. Food was nice but did get a bit boring by the end of the week.
We watched the entertainment most nights in the hotel different show everynight varied from a snake show, Brazilian dancers, magician etc.
Salou is a lovely resort and we would definitley come back may not choose to stay at the Palya Margarita again but wouldnt count it out if there was a cheap deal for it.
